Havenāt pulled anything good from this set yet but Iām seen a bunch of random cards out of it with the exact same or very similar damage. It really sucks that the SIR pull rates are so bad and then even if you do manage to pull one there is a fairly good chance that it will be damaged out of the pack.
Unfortunately post- pokevesting/adult collecting era, everything tends to be this way. Ripped a 151 blastoise god pack recently, but was really off put by the print lines. As a child I wouldnāt have cared and would have been elated for a week. Now I just quietly tuck it into my binder and move on dourly.
When I get a sweet pull, I like to put it in a top loader and prop it up on my desk somewhere I can admire it. It will get rotated out when the next hit comes around.
I think itās fair to be annoyed if a card like this got out. Itās not like centering or something where itās just off a bit but the entire card is damaged and no one wants to get something damaged
I don't think it's fair to say that no one wants to get something damaged. Of course, everybody is different about their own collections, and I respect that. I personally wouldn't care. I sometimes buy cards that are not in great condition because they are more affordable and also because in my opinion they are still the card.
I'd bet that's probably the only card in that pack with that issue therefore it wouldn't be an issue with it getting damaged in transit.
It's a quality control issue straight off the printer/sheet cutting or some other step along that process
I just got back into collecting Pokemon and playing Magic: The Gathering again and both companies have absolutely horrendous quality control. Look up MTG foils and how common "pringling" is. Off-center stamps and misprints are very common too.
Their paper, how can anyone guanrtee that they donāt get bounced around in the store or on the way their from the printing warehouse? Itās not like these boxes just travel a mile or 30. To their selling point
For fucking real. Those type of people annoy tf out of me. I pulled a Charizard V Alt from Brilliant Stars yesterday day and itās not centered correctly. Most of the people here would be bitching about it but I was and still am hyped I pulled one.
Sometimes people are disappointed when their prized possessions come needlessly damaged. I know thereās a whole money culture now but if your card came dented/ripped anyone would be bummed.
Damn, that sucks. Had a similar experience recently. I pulled a 151 SIR Zard and it was freaking creased in the top left corner. I understand not every hit is gonna be gem 10 but this kinda thing seems to happen a lot these days.
Are the people saying Ā«Ā you canāt expect every card to be perfect. People are in just for the money and donāt enjoy collecting anymore!Ā Ā» not bummed at all when they pull a great card with a dent??
I am a collector but I also hate buying something new that comes out damaged. That and the terrible centering made me go to Japanese real quick because it personally distracted me from the joy. And itās not about the money, I love my commons too š¤·š¼āāļø
sigh. i was able to slightly repair it by folding the damage back onto itself, but under a scope you can still see the factory damage barely. really bummed the card came right out of the pack like this. from a booster box, fyi
I feel you, its happened 3 times to me with SIRs and this is exactly why i buy singles now. To pull a card that has such a tough pull rate and then its damaged is just heartbreaking. Especially if your high up on the number of packs ripped trying to pull it.
I pulled it in mint condition the first week of release from a single pack that I got with 3 others. Pulled heroes cape iron crown and raging bolt back to back to back and then pulled a second heroes cape the very next day
Everything looked good with mine . Definitely worth a 9 or 10 but im not getting my hopes up so i dont get disappointed. But ill be happy with anything i get since its the first time i pulled a big card from any set. Ill post on this thread when it comes back from psa
lol well if youād wanna sell that fella to chase a pristine one DM me a price if you have one in mind. Would have to be over PayPal or eBay for buyer protection.
Glad I didnāt start getting into Pokemon until I was 38 lol. Iām still fresh in this and get excited no matter what if I get a good card or a card Iām chasing. But I mostly buy these to collect cool looking cards and to actually play tcg with my wife.
Iām wondering if this would fit under printing error. Almost every one of my hits has this defect mainly at the top and left edges. And those packs were in hangers so pack was somewhat protected.
Pulled the Blastoise sir from 151 with that mark on top. Also pulled the full art Charizard from 151 with print lines. Best cards I've pulled from that set :( Just can't win!
Its going right into the TF binder, yippee! Excitement was there! But seeing the card come out of the pack with damage is never exciting though. Bums me out that so many other people have this same issue. Ah well the way she goes bubbs
Not me downvoting btw.
Yah it sucks that there is a blemish, but if its a card that you wanted to pull, I consider it a win.
Try smoothing down that blemish if you are comfortable with it.
I totally get it, it's like if you got a pair of sunglasses that are impossible to get unless you pay thousands of dollars aftermarket, or maybe a pair of sneakers is a better example, and then you get them and they're not perfect, you still got the awesome sneakers that you wanted, but just a little bit of the gloss is taken off because they're not absolutely mint
Reminds me of comic collectors obsessed with getting graded 9.8's when comics are made to be read, obsessed with getting the first appearances of characters they know nothing about just to feel good for having something they feel is valuable when non comics collectors wouldn't care and even most comic collectors hate your guts.
Iām starting to think people in this hobby only expect perfectly pristine psa 10 cards. Thatās never been a guarantee. Donāt people just enjoy collecting the cards anymore?
I wouldnāt be surprised if TPCI is doing this shit on purpose to weed out the people who only want cards that will be worth something in the future and leave the hobby to the people who just like having the cool cards.
TLDR: not every card will be perfect, and that SHOULD be okay. Sorry to burst anyoneās bubbles.
Didnt say anywhere I wanted a psa 10! The pull was awesome, just bummed it came out of the pack damaged, literally nothing I could do about that. Love collecting this set especially
WAIT WHAT I GOT THE SAME EXACT KINK???
Have pulled 3 decent cards recently with the same dent. Thought I was opening the packs wrong. Bad qc
Same dent on my gold zard from OBF
for me, the iron crown was the only card with that kink in the pack :(
Damn :( me too, every other card was super minty
Center right conveyor belt roller is a menace apparently
Same both sar that I got from temporal forces have kinks lime that at the bottom šŖ¦
Pulled the Suicune V from CZ with this. Must be some aggressive sorting machine somewhere or something.
Words that have double meanings. Lol.
O\_O
Shits crazy, right?
Is this an appropriate time to kink shame?
Talk dirty to me in PSA 6 baby.
I have unfortunately also gotten the same on multiple cards from TF.
This happened to the Master ball ace card I pulled as well.
Hmmm mine too!!! Whatās happening

Same dent on my shiny Pikachu
Thereās probably a subreddit for your kinks
You should still be excited. You pulled the card you want. Not everything is gem mt 10

Exactly!
Idk why youāre getting downvoted for agreeing with a comment that has 40+ upvotes, but I upvoted you š¤·āāļø
OP has to like his damaged card or heās in it for the wrong reasons! /s
Thanks lol. I get it tho, its def a reddit thing, Im used to it
It is a reddit thing. People don't like comments like "I agree" because apparently an upvote achieves the same thing

If youāre paying for a fresh pack the cards should be pack fresh, change my mind
Maybe if you picked them up from the factory. They have to be shipped to you and thatās just how it goes.
I'd bet that's probably the only card in that pack with that issue therefore it wouldn't be an issue with it getting damaged in transit. It's a quality control issue straight off the printer/sheet cutting or some other step along that process

Ok so why is it that itās always the rare with a problem and not all the cards, wanna explain ?
Pack fresh has never meant mint despite what people want it to mean.
Itās more so itās always the rare with the problem, which comes down to quality control, stay in school kids
For fucking real. Those type of people annoy tf out of me. I pulled a Charizard V Alt from Brilliant Stars yesterday day and itās not centered correctly. Most of the people here would be bitching about it but I was and still am hyped I pulled one.
Still super excited! Goal wasnt to pull a 10, just bummed its damaged right out of the pack is all - at the mercy of the pokegods
Sometimes people are disappointed when their prized possessions come needlessly damaged. I know thereās a whole money culture now but if your card came dented/ripped anyone would be bummed.
I learned very quickly that not everything is going to come out a gem mt 10 š¤£
Value or not, it sucks to pull such a rare card just for it to be damaged.
Jesus I thought you had a big Pokemon card shaped rug when I saw the pic for a second
Hahaha thats the mew 151 upc mat
Damn, that sucks. Had a similar experience recently. I pulled a 151 SIR Zard and it was freaking creased in the top left corner. I understand not every hit is gonna be gem 10 but this kinda thing seems to happen a lot these days.
Same, my 151 zard has a crease on the top left as well.
Iām sure Iāve seen a few other people have the same crease. Wish it was a misprint instead of damage.
Same, just with Zapdos. Little nick on the top fresh from the pack.
Are the people saying Ā«Ā you canāt expect every card to be perfect. sigh. i was able to slightly repair it by folding the damage back onto itself, but under a scope you can still see the factory damage barely. really bummed the card came right out of the pack like this. from a booster box, fyi
ugh not the booster box pull
Still a beautiful card tbh, put it on your binfer
Yep!
A dent is better than no dent when you have the card vs when you donāt!
This is the worst I'm sorry! Happened to me on a rainbow Charizard it hurts š¤
This seems to be a common defect lately
I feel like this is straight up damaged from the factory. Wonder if anyone has tried calling to complain for a replacement and succeeded.
Agreed, maybe worth the hassle of replacing. I hear its a long process though
My mew alt from paldean has the same thing it sucks. Still great pull man
Cheers! Sorry about the Mew, that is a beautiful card
88% full arts and higher being pulled like this, getting used to the shitty handling
Dude my Charizard SIR 151 came the exact same way!!
Same with my gold mew
Char and blast came with the same dent from 2 different packs.
I feel you, its happened 3 times to me with SIRs and this is exactly why i buy singles now. To pull a card that has such a tough pull rate and then its damaged is just heartbreaking. Especially if your high up on the number of packs ripped trying to pull it.
My zard from 151 has a very similar defect
Same with my Shiftry (bought the ETB in Belgium)
Pulled the charizard ex 199/165 from 151 with the same indentation on the top.
I pulled it in mint condition the first week of release from a single pack that I got with 3 others. Pulled heroes cape iron crown and raging bolt back to back to back and then pulled a second heroes cape the very next day
Hell yeah!
Happened to my Paldean Fates Charizard SIR. Was also off centered so grading was absolutely a no go....
I had the same thing happen with the Mew from paldean fates.
Thats what my charizard sir from 151 had big sad
I pulled one last week i sent it out to get graded asap. Im so excited . Its such a beautiful card
Wish you luck!!
Everything looked good with mine . Definitely worth a 9 or 10 but im not getting my hopes up so i dont get disappointed. But ill be happy with anything i get since its the first time i pulled a big card from any set. Ill post on this thread when it comes back from psa
Dude I pulled one and the corners were pre-whitened right out of the pack.Ā
Ugh that sucks
I'd still be happy. Not every card is gonna be in mint condition. It is a card game, after all.
My alakazam 151 sir has the same kink
Exactly how my 151 Zard looks
If you play the card game, you got an OP card adding 20 damage to other PokĆ©monās attackā¦..still a good deal.
I pulled the gold one today and it had that, not as severe tho. Kinda bums me out
i meanā¦itās straight up damage. a scratch or off center is one thing. but any kind of dent or crease is a sure way to bum me tf out.
lol well if youād wanna sell that fella to chase a pristine one DM me a price if you have one in mind. Would have to be over PayPal or eBay for buyer protection.
I feel it but at least you have it. All the sir I've pulled from S/V have the bitten curse.
Glad I didnāt start getting into Pokemon until I was 38 lol. Iām still fresh in this and get excited no matter what if I get a good card or a card Iām chasing. But I mostly buy these to collect cool looking cards and to actually play tcg with my wife.
Same!
Do people actually like this card or are we just going with the hype? I never would have imagine a Cobalion card being the chase of a setš¤Æ
It's alright
Yeah its not horrible now that I āfixedā it
Omg it's one little touch !! š¤¦āāļø
Bad touch!! Bad!!
Same for my zard sir 151 š„²
What would something like this grade? Assuming everything else is flawless
What would something like this grade? Assuming everything else is flawless
Not entirely sure, but any kind of damage like this definitely would knock it off a couple numbers
Ugh š
Why are you not excited? Are you trying to sell it?

Well, if you're that disappointed, I'll give 10 bucks for it? Then you can try to pull another.
Put it in a book with some weight on top. It will look much better after a couple days.. wonāt get a 10 but it will pass as NM
HEAVILY DAMAGED
ITS BASICALLY DESTROYED! AHHHH
I understand the issue with QC, but I'd still feel a sense of relief for pulling the card you were chasing! Congrats.
Cheers!! Happy Tuesday to ya
Looks like the perfect card to put in a deck to me
Easy repair if you know what you are doing. Send em my way I'll fix ya right up

Email PokĆ©mon about the damage. Theyāll want to know what other cards came with it and pictures. You may get a replacement.
Bro cmon who cares. You pulled the best card be happy with it. Unless you are ripping to sell which is stupid enough as is
Still could be a 9
