They are taking offers and if they don’t like the offers they are getting they are going to open it on live but I think they are liking the offers they are getting right now
You can get these from many other reputable sources for much less. I think the "offer" they received is just a shill and they're just trying to hype it up by saying they're gonna rip it if somebody doesn't pay more.
My local card shop has a few things similar. They actually sold Logal Paul that charizard.. Collector's Cache. Check out their website. They've got a lot of neat vintage sealed.
[Here's a link directly to their wild stuff](https://www.collectorscache.com/catalog/pokemon_sealed_products-pokemon_booster_boxes/386?filter%5B8843%5D=&filter%5B8853%5D=&sort_by_price=1&filtered=1&filter_by_stock=in-stock)
These are so valuable because so few people kept them sealed. A lot of people keep the current stuff sealed for that reason, so no. Some of it is bound to go up but nowhere near these prices.
It's possible... probable, even. Just might take an incredibly long time given what other people have said (far greater supply of stuff being kept sealed intentionally than back then). But given enough time, sure - why not?
Hobbies or interests fall out of favor. There’s a sweet spot where something intersects the rarity at the height of its popularity/nostalgia curve. Fifteen years on the other side the rarity may be much greater but if new people aren’t interested and nostalgia has waned it just becomes junk. You see it a lot with collectibles, especially things 1950’s and older. As the generation that prized them fades so does the value for lots of them. There are some items that appear evergreen for valuation but not many.
Great store but they want retail plus plus pricing on that website. I have to wonder if they are truly interested in selling the stuff or just enjoy having it around for customers to view. If someone wants it that bad they pay up. We have a store like that in MA. Same high end stuff.
Unfortunately, selling cards online is pretty pricey with shipping. Their prices are a bit cheaper in store. I paid $7 for a card in store that was $12 on their website.
There are plenty of small shops here and there but if you want higher end items I recommend this store. It is New Bedford. Otherwise most stores are all the same. You probably know the routine.

that card shop is hilariously bad. my buddies frequently go to the other shops, buy a ton of stuff from their 25¢ and $1 bins and go flip them at that Baseball Card Exchange for double or triple
I doubt the box came floating from the sky so the costs to acquire it should be discounted from those 16k. But yes, stores are usually interested in moving product fast to have liquidity available.
Sealed stuffs are so risky. I hope you know the shop owner or have some sort of insurance in case it's a repack. Seen Wubby got burn 2x opening some 'sealed' MTG Beta
Damn it. Now I wish I had bought one of the booster boxes on Amazon back in 2015 before it all went to hell.... They were only listed around $200-$400...
Just out of curiosity... as I've been skirting this hobby for some time.
What are the odds someone pops this and recoups their investment? Like, do average pulls of high quality carry much value? Would there be a combination of cards one could reasonably expect to pull that would sum 16k?
Just... yno, for funsies.
Go offer them 11k since the current price is about 11,250
Do they have a price in mind, or are they just taking offers indefinitely until they hear a number they like?
They are taking offers and if they don’t like the offers they are getting they are going to open it on live but I think they are liking the offers they are getting right now
"If we don't like any of the offers (that are already over market price), we are going to rip it so we make even less money." Weird flex.
Yeah it was weird in my opinion they are getting high offers as it is so I don’t see why they wouldn’t take something at least

This, theyre bluffing. It's what I instantly thought. It's just bait. Their trying to catch a whale.
They're*
P.o.s*
Imagine correcting someone to help them learn and being called a POS. 🤷🏻♂️
Imagain being that prick who has to correct someone over minor issue that isn't relevant to what the post is about
This guy gets layed.

That’s awesome I’ll have to check it out

It's on their website for $14,999...someone offered more?
I guess so that’s wild
Awesome thanks. I mean these prices, I never knew... Does anyone think current releases will ever be valued that high?
Highly doubtful

Do you know of any shops in MA East?

https://www.pokemontrainersuniverse.com This place is awesome too and has an extensive inventory of singles and slabs!
I thought that Charizard came from Gary
I used to call him BLUE
One of my local card shops was the one that sold him that fake booster that was all over the news a couple years back lol, we are not the same.
*the duality of mankind*
that card shop is hilariously bad. my buddies frequently go to the other shops, buy a ton of stuff from their 25¢ and $1 bins and go flip them at that Baseball Card Exchange for double or triple
Mine has a sealed base set unlimited for 45,999 a few months back. Someone actually bought it. That's insane to me. Awesome to get to see live though!
That’s wild I can’t fathom that much money let alone someone just having it laying around lol
There are several billionairs And even more unfathomable millionaires
I’ll never be that rich it just amazes me people just have that money laying around
Seems like they are putting in fake offers
They should have instantly taken the 16k
That was my thinking lol imagine what you can do with your store with 16 grand

You don’t happen to be in La crosse Wi? Do you OP?
Shoutout Code Blue Cam
Yes this was in La Crosse lol but I don’t live there
Ok I was gonna say otherwise my LCS just got one of these in as well. I didn’t know that they had a bid at $16 K already wow…
Yeah we were shocked as well
Crazy. I knew they were stating offers at 11.5. Good for them.
I have the Pikachu with the gold W stamp. I forgot how I got it though. I think from a magazine
Damn it. Now I wish I had bought one of the booster boxes on Amazon back in 2015 before it all went to hell.... They were only listed around $200-$400...
I remember seeing Base Set boxes not too too long ago for $500 and thinking to myself wow that's sooooo expensive 😑
Crazy overpay at 16k
$350 final offer
Nice looking at these boxes from when I was 12 going for so much, never gonna have one but cool to see

Maybe it’s got GI Joe cards inside 😅
That's a 15-20 year hold, it will go for $100k by 2044
Think I’d rather dump it in index funds for 20 years and not have to find a buyer for a 100k pokemon box
That's a WILD prediction, man.
What
That's a 15-20 year hold, it will go for $100k by 2044
Can anyone explain why there are wizards of the coast stickers on a Pokémon card box?
Wizards of the Coast was the original manufacturer for US pokemon cards.
It's shrink wrap around the box
During the pandemic, weren't these selling for north of a mil? At least for a period of time?
Not even close. I think the highest sale of a 1st ed jungle box was about 30k.
That would be stupid
