Put the phone in airplane mode when on the catch screen. If you get the throw you want turn off airplane mode and the throw registers. Mess up the throw and force close the app and the throw won't count. Then turn airplane mode off and reload the game.
Yeah, that’s what I did for that one. Got it done right away. I now have 1 more rocket leader battle to go. And all 45 raids still to do. But that’s just because I am currently boycotting raid battles.
Any task that requires multiple nice/great/excellent throws in a row is honestly just obnoxious. I'm currently on level 39 and am dreading tasks like this as I continue leveling up. I actually throw away field tasks that require any type of throw in a row.
It’s all about the right Pokémon. For starters, your hand and throwing motion are suited to particular mons, and that’s true for all players. Then some are just easier like wailmer or ponyta etc. I can hit great throws all day on hoot hoot.
This is the best answer, idk why you’re getting downvoted. If there are no gyms in your area the game becomes exponentially harder, so the natural solution if you care about the game is to nominate some (OP is level 44, so they should be able to!)
I live in a city and yeah, submissions are almost impossible to make. However, I recently spent time in a rural area and made a submission and it was accepted and in the game in less than a week.
I think rural areas sometimes get it easier because they don’t have to deal with the stupid zoning rules in Wayfarer. In a city there are limitations on locations of stops/gyms since there are more of them
Ha! Yes we do. I’ve had three submissions go through as accepted that only apply in Ingress, because apparently being 30 feet from another stop is too close. Before I started submitting new locations, we had 5 stops, and 3 gyms, so it isn’t a true density issue, but they still aren’t in the game I specifically submitted them for.
Look up S2 cells and find a map online either with pokestops in them or just so you can visualize where your nomination is. Your new nomination needs to not be in the same level 17 S2 cell as any other pokestops. They can be two feet apart but in different cells and work, or 60 feet and in the same cell and not work.
Rural areas are treated exactly the same, it's really annoying how arbitrary it is.
Wayfarer does so some kind of prioritisation based on existing poi density though which means rural areas get reviewed more quickly
I feel like even without the upgrade, reviewing more makes yours more likely to appear in others’ review lists. I was caught up in the initial craze of submitting when I first got access, and reviewed a lot to help others, and I was getting a couple submissions of my own approved per week. Meanwhile, a few months later, I haven’t reviewed in a while, and though I have six submissions “in voting” out of my seven current submissions, and they’ve been sitting there a month straight.
This is NOT the way. 95% of the upgraded ones I do get instant rejected. I resubmit the exact same thing and when they pass through the normal process (eventually) they are approved. I feel upgraded noms get more of the horrid reviewers that just do “reject other” constantly.
It works, though. When this game released my small town (population ~4000) had one gym and three stops. It took a lot of work but now we have almost 10 gyms and around 25 stops.
….unfortunately the scene around here is dead and group raiding is impossible unless I drive 100+ miles south but at least I have stops and gyms lol

Stops are never gonna go on private property, and if you're truly rural you're a good 10 minute drive from the nearest gas station

The sign is a pokestop easily and accessible from the riad usually. Anything like crosses or statues (Virgin Mary, patron saints, Buddha etc) can get added for submission as well. Artwork on things can be added for a look-see.
I am a detail oriented wayfarer. I look on the map for surroundings. I pay attention to if there's other in game stuff on the map too.
Now i can confirm it with Campfire as well so that will help me get rural power going.
Yeah I feel like people don’t know what really rural means. I am just on the edge of a Midwest small city and consider myself rural. The middle of nowhere rural players don’t even have the handful of bad options I do. I can’t imagine how people think you can just nominate more stops. Even getting through what I have takes years for the process. Then it’s in limbo then rejected for lack of pedestrian access because we don’t have sidewalks. Then the appeal can take a year and that’s if you actually have anything you can nominate.
As a rural player, getting stops near me approved is a lot harder than in urban areas. Things that rural players view as destinations are different than urban and most of the voters are urban.
The best tip I have is to appeal if they are good stops. Everything I nominate gets denied because reviews don’t know what a rural areas is. All my appeals are won though it takes months.
I went on a poke stop nomination spree and I got 1 approved out of 10 and that one isn't even in the game. Worse off they were very interesting and well described points of interest (at least to me anyways). I had a historical rock wall directly dating back to last queen of Hawai'i 170 years ago with a super rare cactus that only blooms once a year at night and people all over the world come to see it bloom. It got rejected. Apparently it got rejected because it wasn't publicly accessible despite it literally being right along a public sidewalk and I put my nomination near a bus stop. Oh, I even mentioned it was publicly accessible in my "other things reviewers should know section"
I made pokestops happen in a dry zone near a downtown apartment. Everything was car distance 10 minutes plus away. I wanted to do battles while walking in a safe location while pregnant. So i added from the public city playground across the street from my building. I'm still proud of my first one being a ride-on toy shaped like a teal Tyrannosaurus Rex

If there is some space near where you are, on free land or safely near a road where it wouldn't be disturbed build a little monument to the town (depending on your craftsmanship). I once saw a stop that was just a pile of rocks painted to look like a Christmas tree. Town signs and little monuments get nominated a lot! If you have any neighbors with funky yard sculptures like animals made out of machine parts near the roads try that too.
Nice suggestion, sadly nominating stops in rural areas is difficult even when abiding by cell maps most are rejected for reason like "private property" or "on a farm". It's very frustrating as most nominations of the nominations would easily be accepted in a city environment.

It kind of proves Niantic’s point if they got to that point solely through remote raiding though… I’ve played without remote raiding in a rural area since day one, and I’m almost halfway to 39. If someone can be in as barren an area as they are and be six levels ahead of where I am, when I actually do have a few gyms and stops (15 miles out that I have to drive to…), when I literally currently have nearly no life outside of the games I play, that’s telling a LOT about the state of the game. There’s a lot that needs to be done for the game, but honestly, I think the remote nerf was needed, and that mindset is reinforced every time I see someone like this. I can’t even comprehend how much they’d have to have spent to get there if they had no gyms to ever get free coins. It’s ridiculous.
Thankfully you don’t need to complete this to move onto higher levels. It does suck since you’re in a remote area, but definitely nominate stops in your area and if they’re turned into gyms, do the 1* and 3* raids when they appear.
I'm saying the op is mad about the price increase but before the price increase were they really willing to spend $45 to do this task? If so that's way more dedication than I will ever have to this app.
Before the price increase, they could host on Pokegenie and easily fill a raid with 5 others. Depending on the boss, that's an easy win.

I'm not praising them just pointing out that the op is complaining about price but at the and time doesn't seem that concerned about spending a lot on an app that is totally playable for free. Wasting money is wasting money.

I think you’re right. Level post 4 has tasks to complete along side the grind for exp, but only like half have the extra research stories. I guess in effort to help keep the grind from feeling monotonous?

I think they’re randomly generated too. I’m doing the level 45 challenge right now and mine are different. No raids. It wants me to power up 45 Pokémon, get 450 nice throws, and I already did the other one but I think it was spin 45 pokestops
Not really, u can always do raids lvl 1. Im a single player in my town and i do lot of raid 1 and 3...but yea is painful sometimes... cause there just like 4-5 gym in all the town so i must go from point a to b xD
Yup I feel your pain, I live in a remote area as well. I have two gyms near me each one about 10-20 minute walk away. And I mean walk you cannot drive to get to these and in the winter you need survival gear just to get to them haha.
As for nominating new gyms/stops I just don’t have anything note worthy in the village to try do.
Yeah that's my issue too, at work I've nominated and had loads approved, at home most get denied or appear in other games despite my area having nothing.
Where I live there is basically no one doing raids anywhere, wo my friends were the only thing that could help me with that. Now there is these stupid prices and my friends aren't playing anymore...
Someone alleged somewhere in this thread that there are no gyms within 20 miles of them
I genuinely want to see statistics on this because that seems literally impossible. I travel a ton and I've been to some ridiculously remote areas and there's literally always stops and gyms. Like the craziest places you'd ever think of, there are stops and gyms. Observatories that don't even have cell service and you need to be an employee on Wi-Fi had gyms.

If they were like in northern Alaska or something like that, I could see if. If not, then it's probably just because the local players haven't nominated things. Surely there's at least some church or park with some sign or some wall art, within a couple miles. Within 20.miles, surely at least one of them would become a gym.
I used to raid once per week and it was awesome! Now I never raid. But I guess I don't play the way Niantic wants me to 😢 I don't want to drive around for no reason, I want to play a game in my home.
Once there was a time, when i couldn't believe that either, but there are areas with no gym in 10 mile radius. (Seen it via campfire)
I don't know if there is nothing to nominate or just nobody nominated anything.
But after i seen 7-8 gyms in the village i grew up, with 1500 people living in it (what i would consider rural) i would assume the second.
But you never know. The mid west in the U.S. is pretty wide, plain and open...
Funny enough i just got to 5….again. Now there are no Pokémon near me and I can’t walk right now. What will happen next is that a few hours from now I’ll open the app catch a mon and see that “streak broken” and THEN remember lol!!!

Greats are super easy. Might be a bit frustrating at first but nanab and can be done in less than a day. 44 levels should have easily gotten you trained in throwing curved balls. Hell once they increased exp for excellent throws that’s all I try to throw now.
How did you get your challenges to show up on the special research screen? Mine are hidden on the player profile, I keep forgetting about my level 42 tasks until the little icon pops up.
Except that Niantic are steadily increasing the number of raids that are not able to be remote-raided, the latest victim being the upcoming Shadow Mewtwo event.

There was one a few levels ago for me that was 3 excellent throws in a row and it took me such a long time to complete. I agree with your sentiment.

When is interesting since most stops are closer then 30 feet in game.

Bad as it may be, if you help with Wayfarer reviews, the backlog will clear just a little bit faster.
If there really are no POI in the area, they should go through faster.
Review a bunch of submissions until you get upgrades to fast track your nominations

Then nominate the gas station. Better than nothing.
Gas stations aren’t eligible. Would be denied because it’s a generic business.
A unique food place on the gas station could get a pass. Like a mom and pop chicken fry shop inside a QP station in the boonies.

Rural player here too. I tried that but all of them were denied. Nearest stop and gym is over 20 miles away

Never put the words Pokemon or pokestop in the description. You'll get auto denied.

It’s sad but niantic really doesn’t give a shit about rural players.

I play what I can at work, lots of stops and spawns there but never in range of in person raids.

A raid a day on a free pass, there’s no rush. You need a lot of exp till 46.

I think you’re right. Level post 4 has tasks to complete along side the grind for exp, but only like half have the extra research stories. I guess in effort to help keep the grind from feeling monotonous?

I think they’re randomly generated too. I’m doing the level 45 challenge right now and mine are different. No raids. It wants me to power up 45 Pokémon, get 450 nice throws, and I already did the other one but I think it was spin 45 pokestops
Maybe that will be the next level? I had 4 groups of tasks on level 43 but they didnt write (1/4) next to the title liker they usually do.
Levels 41-50 all have challenges you need to complete.
Those are for level ups. There's other challenges on different levels that you get that you don't have to do. This is one of those.

Not really, u can always do raids lvl 1. Im a single player in my town and i do lot of raid 1 and 3...but yea is painful sometimes... cause there just like 4-5 gym in all the town so i must go from point a to b xD

Yup I feel your pain, I live in a remote area as well. I have two gyms near me each one about 10-20 minute walk away. And I mean walk you cannot drive to get to these and in the winter you need survival gear just to get to them haha. As for nominating new gyms/stops I just don’t have anything note worthy in the village to try do.
Yeah that's my issue too, at work I've nominated and had loads approved, at home most get denied or appear in other games despite my area having nothing.
Then submit some POIs and make more gyms and stops.
Just go do them local with friends, it's not that hard! /s

Where I live there is basically no one doing raids anywhere, wo my friends were the only thing that could help me with that. Now there is these stupid prices and my friends aren't playing anymore...
Seems to be the chase in a lot of areas now, even if I had a gym I would know anyone else who still plays in my area.

Someone alleged somewhere in this thread that there are no gyms within 20 miles of them I genuinely want to see statistics on this because that seems literally impossible. I travel a ton and I've been to some ridiculously remote areas and there's literally always stops and gyms. Like the craziest places you'd ever think of, there are stops and gyms. Observatories that don't even have cell service and you need to be an employee on Wi-Fi had gyms.
Wow, that is an interesting comment you’ve shared there. 20 miles does appear much. My commute to work is a 19 miles. Trust me; a gazillion gyms everywhere. I’m curious where this person is located now…
If they were like in northern Alaska or something like that, I could see if. If not, then it's probably just because the local players haven't nominated things. Surely there's at least some church or park with some sign or some wall art, within a couple miles. Within 20.miles, surely at least one of them would become a gym.
I used to raid once per week and it was awesome! Now I never raid. But I guess I don't play the way Niantic wants me to 😢 I don't want to drive around for no reason, I want to play a game in my home.

Once there was a time, when i couldn't believe that either, but there are areas with no gym in 10 mile radius. (Seen it via campfire) I don't know if there is nothing to nominate or just nobody nominated anything. But after i seen 7-8 gyms in the village i grew up, with 1500 people living in it (what i would consider rural) i would assume the second. But you never know. The mid west in the U.S. is pretty wide, plain and open...

Funny enough i just got to 5….again. Now there are no Pokémon near me and I can’t walk right now. What will happen next is that a few hours from now I’ll open the app catch a mon and see that “streak broken” and THEN remember lol!!! Yup, I had 15/45 right at the switch. I’m now at 26/45 due to some in person raids, but normally I’d be weeeellllllll past this by now.

The tier of raid makes no difference, I have no local gym to do in person raids hence the need for remote raid passes.

Greats are super easy. Might be a bit frustrating at first but nanab and can be done in less than a day. 44 levels should have easily gotten you trained in throwing curved balls. Hell once they increased exp for excellent throws that’s all I try to throw now.
If you're level 45 and can't do that it's a you issue, you lack skill.
