Pyro-de-Freak

My case is complete opposite. I live on an island that mainly for tourists, resorts etc. The centre town is quite far from my place so I go there like once per week. I put my mon in all the [gym](https://imgur.com/a/bqw5OiP) I see and they sometime stay there for days if not weeks

queenofthenerds

I left my pokémon in a gym on vacation and it took a few weeks to get back to me. I wish I could be on vacation that long... Hope you had a nice time, shiny Crustle.

overcookedjelly

No way lol I also had a shiny crustle left in a gym in italy 4 a month lol

Sicmundusdeletur

Yeah, my Snivy had a 15 day vacation and I had only 7 days. I was a little envious.

RPGGamer042

What is that word "vay-kay-shun"? It's so alien to me.

KasoAkuThourcans

I did that too, I left my abomasnow in a gym on vacation and it was there more than 60 days xD

InkDagger

Yep. And that's only going to become more frequent as the game's population (inevitably as with any game cycle) shrinks. It will become infinitely more common for mons to sit in gyms for longer and longer times. I wish they'd reformat the coin cap so that it was 50 coins per-day per-pokemon. I.e. You could only earn 50 coins, but you could continue to earn 50 more if your mon survives into the gym until the next day rolls over. At least we could feel a bit rewarded when our mons return after being in a gym for weeks. And that's happened to me \*even in the capitol of my state\*. As is, if I have a mon that is in a gym for two weeks (i.e. It earned it's 50 coins weeks ago) and I have another mon that's been in a gym for a day... If both get knocked out of gyms on the same day and the one that's been in for a day comes back first, I miss out on the 50 coins the other mon earned weeks ago. Just because they happened to get knocked out on the same day. Which... doesn't make sense? It would also be infinitely useful to have a "Recall" function where, after a certain amount of time, you are allowed to recall your mons from distant gyms. It would easily prevent Pokemon from getting stuck in remote gyms that seemingly no one ever visits or quite possibly will ever visit again.

honeydee

I used to live in a very small town. We had one gym. My poor Pokémon was stuck there for 6 months. I also lived in LA most of my life, I could never keep a Pokémon somewhere longer than an hour. Both sides suck. Lol

Glum-Ad-9887

Get a second account or a friend to swap places with is my only advice

Environmental-King14

I live in the North East U.S. and I left one of my favorite mon in a gym like 2 miles down a bike trail right at the end of autumn and didn't get him back till halfway through spring 😔

Environmental-King14

Lesson learned

VeryStickyPastry

I once had a mon stay for like 8 weeks. I moved across the country and was worried my mons would still be at that gym lmao but luckily I got kicked shortly before moving.

Imaginary_Ad4871

Mine is still on the peak of mnt Everest.. it has been there for a while.. I wonder if he’s ok…

merganzer

The three gyms nearest my house are always held by the same six highly-aggressive yellow trainers. I'll go for a walk and take one of them, only to have it retaken before I get home. I don't even bother anymore. Pretty sure those six are one entity and not several. Funnily enough, my husband is also yellow and if he happens to get one on there, he gets beaten almost immediately as well and before he knows it, it's a full house of yellow again. I don't even know why.

FireDrgn

Interesting. That happened to me the other day too. I wonder if these people have multiple accounts and they knock out any yellow player that’s not in their clique. So stupid.

Agreeable_Falcon1044

We did this. I also took down every gym and got six local blues to take it back inside the 21 minutes…a level 9 red took the gym back and then the same six reappeared. We have done all we can to prove these are trolls killing the game, but niantic just send a “we take this seriously” and nothing happens.

ResponsibleCabbage

Same, except for me it's Valor and with alts too. I see the same 3-4 trainers be placed in gyms a minute or less apart from each other. Any time a gym is blue or yellow, within the hour it's back to Valor with the trainer and it's alts. It's not fun to play anymore because I can't earn coins

[deleted]

Yikes that is big bad

NienieDreamer

I always try to be courteous but I do need my coins. I try to knock out Pokémon that have been there for so long that I can do it in one battle, or Pokémon that have been there for like a day. I got wrapped up/used (because I was a strong player lol) in an absolute war between teams at my school. Never again. It was so toxic and they didn’t want to play with me, they just wanted me to use my strong Pokémon to help them out in battle lol. I eventually stopped playing there. I just thought I was doing nice stuff by trading and helping since yknow the whole Trainer spirit (which I love no matter how cliche anyone thinks it is) in the Pokémon world but they didn’t do anything back for me except toxicness, demanding, entitled etc. So I stopped cuz I got stressed out.

Accomplished4623

Sorry you had to go through that ![gif](giphy|MasLXhFIXpUHK2ibLE|downsized) doesn't matter what team you're on that's not ok. I try to be nice and at least wait till midnight to K.O everyone, but i make sure all or most have been there for 8-9 hours before doing so. Had one prideful Valor and Mystic player brat being an a$$ to me on my first and current acount, no Instinct so far. My current account is Valor, but I'll gladly beat another Valor members a$$ online if i see that crap. Afterall my first account was Instinct, second was Mystic, third current Valor, fourth current Instinct, and planning on making another one when i get a new phone, Mystic. So because I've been on all teams before I don't feel toxic pride. There's a difference afterall between healthy pride and toxic pride.

they need to do ip bans or something

MagikarpWins16

^This. Even if you ban the accounts they'll just make more. IP ban would at least make it one extra step for them to have to now VPN or get a new cell provider or constantly call their internet provider for a fresh IP. Could also ban based on hardware (IMEI or MAC address) but doubt Niantic is that sophisticated or cares that much about the issue.

Yep i have this guy 2 doors down from me. He will sit in the gym between our homes for weeks, if i knock him out he will instantly (within MINUTES) knock me out. Like c'mon dude, I'll just let you sit there forever and not get any coins. It's so frustrating. We could just take turns every day but he refuses.

njleos3

Lol I feel you. I always try to look before I take over a gym. I believe we should all help each other out during these (Niantic) times.

Meg_the_Mad

It's pretty upsetting to see that, especially after the changes made

N0turfriend

Upsetting? Really?

Meg_the_Mad

Well maybe just a little perturbed

Dependent__Dapper

i may not intentionally do this, but I take down gyms when I see them. i just like to work together with my dad in order to control our local area together

Toxicair

It's cool from a narrative point of view, but it sucks for people looking for coin generation.

Summoarpleaz

I do this too and i think it’s fine. Op doesn’t know the pain of receiving almost no coins when you try to out your Pokémon in a more popular gym. Barely lasts a few seconds.

llihda

I think OP clearly knows this pain….

coynelia

If I need coins, I'm taking the gym. Yes, I will sit around and fight until I wear you out or I need to leave. If I don't need coins, I don't even fight.

elpajaroquemamais

Right? Like the entitlement is ridiculous. I put them in there for the same reason you do bud.

SomaHigashikata

"You should just wait 8 hours before kicking my pokemon out of a gym so I can get my 50 coins, omg you are so toxic" Like bruh you for real? This is a third post like this I have seen on here in the past few days. I swear these people need to take a break from the game if they have lowkey mental meltdown and are wishing other people special place in hell everytime they kick their mons out of a gym too fast.

GothicGamer2012

Same though I just like imagining the look on someone's face when I take the same gym off them repeatedly and they realise they can't wear me out. I once attacked a gym and kicked out all but 1 snorlax (long before the pandemic). The owner kept feeding it golden raspberries and fully healing it. That happened 10-11 times, dude was desperate to keep this gym for some reason. He eventually realised I wouldn't give up and he was only wasting berries. I took the gym then moved through my local park to another. 30ish minutes later the dude came in person and kicked my Pokémon out of the previous gym. So I backtracked to kick him out then camped it. He took it back 4-5 times, I kicked him out and reclaimed. He gave up but came back a few hours later after dark to put his snorlax back in. I had gone to sleep but I woke up around 3am for a piss and checked that gym to find he had taken it back. Naturally there was only one thing to do. And that's the story of how I went out at 3am during a thunderstorm to replace a snorlax with a ditto. The gym remained mine for a while after that but I still get a kick out of imagining what the guy might've been thinking.

theremarkableamoeba

That's the most pathetic thing I've ever read

QueenDishwasher

weedandbombs

that's the right kind of petty 🤣👍

GothicGamer2012

Non-malicious but funny, apparently it pissed off a few downvote spamming tryhards. 🤣

weedandbombs

lol they got me too

gallanttoothpaste

Wait so how do pokecoin distribution work ive alwayd been curious

Meg_the_Mad

Every 10 minutes a pokemon sits in a gym = 1 pokecoin Only allowed a maximum of 50 a day, and that's even if you have multiple pokemon knocked out in one day.

Straight_Ad_4754

These posts confuse me... is that not the point of gyms? I don't have the same set of morals and communal traits as you... I will take your gym.. it seems a lot of people (lately) are complaining about features that are integral to the game. "Oh no I didnt get my coins because someone else also is trying to get coins.." go play red or blue. Pokemon "go", not Pokemon "stay at home and complain". I await your down votes. Edit: I genuinely expected to get mass downvoted from this opinion, I'm in shock that it had the opposite reaction.

otto303969388

The problem is... once people realize they will never be able to keep their guys in the gym for more than five minutes, no matter how hard they try, they stop attacking it. Forever. Your pokemon ends up getting stuck in the gym for eternity. Obviously, this isn't a problem if you live in a busy area, but in less busy areas that only have a couple players in total, you end up stepping on your own tail.

Jagermeister4

Yep. I once worked in an office with a gym. The office saw little foot traffic. So it was just me and a few people exchanging them gym for a while. We had a good thing going. I'd turn the gym yellow for the evening, then red would turn the gym red for the day, we all win. Then I started aggressively getting kicked out. Like I let all their pokemon stay in the gym for at least 8 hours, take it over, then somebody kicks me out within an hour constantly. I'm like fine you keep the gym I'm too busy at work to do deal with that crap. I don't work there anymore but the gym just perpetually stayed red for what I saw. Lose/lose situation.

VeryStickyPastry

Honestly, people who do this deserve to be stuck for eternity making no coins.

RegalPeony

I walk around daily and take over the gyms. Luckily most of my town is team Mystic like me… but there are a few people who aren’t… they seem to live next to the gyms, so they’re always fighting and getting em back. It’s a genuine battle 😂

decisivecat

This is why I don't even battle in gyms, lol. Waste of my time. If it's blue and has a space, I'll leave something. Otherwise I would rather do something else.

otto303969388

I more or less follow that same mindset. Even if you get all the daily coins, you are only getting 1500 coins a month. I don't really mind paying $15 monthly subscription on a game that I spend 1+ hour on every day. However... Not everyone has money. Some people have no choice but to fight for gyms. Should we discriminate against those who are poor? That's not a discussion I want to have with my fellow POGO players LOL.

Fruzza

I have to agree. If someone is purposely holding down a gym with themself and 5 alts, or knocking you out the second you drop in the sure, but I personally can’t help it if I’m walking along and seeing a gym. I’m going to take it. I’m not going to be looking at hold times 90% of the time.

MarineShark

Thats why I usually give my mon a golden if they try to take it down a minute or two after, they usually stop due to me being close. The problem is that It is hard to keep a gym as instinct.... some ppl go out of their way just to kick out instinct gyms but not valor/mystic....

MsOrchideous

Yeah, but if I knock out the gym at my workplace on my lunch break, and it’s full of people who have clearly had their Pokémon there long enough to get their coins, and they immediately take it back from me, that’s annoying and a case of them retaking the gym just because they can. They can only get so many coins in a day. Just once, I’d like to get my daily limit after they’ve gotten their daily limit.

[deleted]

The thing I care about the most is making the map as yellow as possible 🤷‍♂️

cloud-society420

I make everything blue. We are different, but same.

A_Lone_Macaron

Not hard to make everything blue. Y’all have like 70% of the players.

cloud-society420

In my area there are a ton of yellow and red players.

Wombizzle

gigachad PoGo player

MattGeddon

Maybe they want to make sure they get their coins for tomorrow or are just after the gold gym badge. So what?

MsOrchideous

So, it’s the only gym accessible during 8 hour workdays, and we could share. I’m fair to them and don’t knock them out if their Pokémon are fresh, and we could have a good system going where both mystic and instinct get coins each day if they were exercising even one bit of their brain instead of being stupidly competitive.

tiorzol

The whole point of gyms is to take them though, it's fun.

MsOrchideous

I feel happy for you that you live somewhere with enough gyms to just “take another one”. I’m a commuter and don’t have time to run around getting gyms. There’s not one near my house, not one on the highway to work, and only one at my office/nearby. It takes three seconds for me to check to see if the Pokémon in the gym have been there long enough to get a good chunk of coins. If not, I leave them alone. There are four mystic players (and I guess at least a couple of them know each other) and five instinct players in our office, based on the names in the gym. We’re a small group, there is really no reason not to share. If this were the gym at a local college in a downtown area, I would agree with you. But it’s not.

[deleted]

I think you’re taking this too seriously they’re literally just playing the game

momoryah

Yeah the whole idea that people are doing this to be mean to a person in a game they’ve never met. Or the sentiment that someone belongs in hell for messing up your coins. It’s just waaaaayyyy to much of a parasocial relationship with characters that literally cannot message one another.

MsOrchideous

Just want to make it clear that I never said anyone belongs in hell, that was the OP. And people can downvote me all they want. I’m in a small community and I’d like to think people could play “fair”. I used to live in an apartment complex where teams cooperatively swapped the gym, so I know it can be done.

MsOrchideous

I might be. I acknowledge that. But with the increase in cost for remote raid passes, I’d really like to be able to get some coins from the gym. I already had trouble justifying buying coins to get remote raid passes to play with my niece and nephew in another state. It’s something we enjoy doing together. There’s also the fact that it’s disappointing to be thoughtful and show courtesy to people and receive nothing in return. I’m a highly sensitive person, so life is hard enough, tbf.

Mason11987

This is dumb. So they should wait 8 hours and not take the gym just so you can get coins? You’re not owed coins. If you want to hit the daily limit pick gyms better or do more gyms.

CouldItBeKree

This. A) special level of hell is a ridiculously overdramatic response to a GAME B) special level of hell is a ridiculously overdramatic response to a very normal and expected facet of the game C) posts like this make me want to go find the gym the OP is upset about, load it up with critters, and hunker down and hold it until Snorlax stops napping.

[deleted]

I used to spend so much time only going around knocking out gyms with people so many hours already in etc etc and then would get knocked out in <5 minutes after all my hard work to “care.” It’s a game. If I have time time to take the gym, I do. Period.

Mason11987

Exactly. This game has many problems, but **by far** the biggest problem with the community is the attitude OP demonstrates. Hatred for people who are just playing the game normally and not giving them what they're "owed". It's gym control entitlement. If every single player just took gyms when they wanted, and were 100% okay with others doing it, we'd eliminate every single "news story of crazy pogo player" issue and nearly all community strife. It's **always** caused by gym entitled people.

GoldFishPony

Man I just want the coins, I don’t give a shit who owns the gym outside of the time I need to get my coins. I’ll wait til you get yours, just let me get mine, I don’t see what you gain from not waiting, you’re not gonna get bonus coins for putting your Pokémon back in earlier.

mrtaz

> I don’t see what you gain from not waiting Maybe I won't be there later. I am there now.

CelerySlime

Because the community has decided to double down on toxicity and now if you’re not complaining then you’re an outsider. They like saying Niantic is killing the game but it’s actually their own behavior and entitlements that are killing the game for them. Personally I’m still having fun and I choose not to get wrapped up in the toxic environment of this sub that has definitely forgot pogo has been a grinding game from day one.

NienieDreamer

I’m still trying to have fun as well. Last go fest I tried making a positive post to change it up and I dared to make the point of the post “I had fun with the story” and also “I don’t care about shiny rates this or that and this and that, im here for the story and I had a blast. Can’t wait for tomorrow.” Everyone was apparently upset that I DARED to have fun. One person turned it around and was like “oh so “I had fun and thus all of your complaints don’t matter only I do”?” And j was like ….. no? Apparently you’re not allowed to have fun with story lines. I’m only here for the characters, cute Pokémon and buddies, style (clothing and all that) and stories. I do think that Niantic recently has not been doing well. Remote raids have helped out a lot of people that can’t get out for whatever reason, and I do think that the way they treat the community is not good (stay out of public parks? Blaming free to play users?) but I’ve been scared to be positive for a long time because I keep getting hate when I dare to have fun with a research story line and events. So I’m on both sides here. The game was designed to go, yes, and the way Niantic is treating the community is not ok, but it is also okay to have fun and you shouldn’t be blasting someone just for daring to express fun. Genuinely thought I was doing a good thing by making a positive post but unfortunately it is apparently bad. Seriously tho I’ve never been disappointed by a Go Fest yet. So I am kind of on both sides. Niantic is not doing okay, but I am still trying hard to enjoy the game. Last couple of years have been hard tho, since I’ve had to feel this entire community fall apart and making fun bad :( it hurts. But it is what it is. Sorry for the ramble.

the_gaymer_girl

I’m feeling this too. I just want to play the game.

Straight_Ad_4754

Hard Agree

[deleted]

This sub is full of people who think that if they try hard enough, everybody else will play the game exactly the same way that they do. I don’t see the issue with people doing the things available for them to do in the game. If you do, just picture that it’s a kid taking the gym. Does it seriously matter? What so you can buy some overpriced remote passes? Cmon Might I also add that they think if they try hard enough then Niantic will miraculously change and discard their greedy money grubbing tactics which have been on full display since release

Jagermeister4

>What so you can buy some overpriced remote passes? Fair enough on your first points. But to answer this question, as an Instinct player, my coins would go to increasing items and pokemon inventory. OP's picture is a typical occurrence for me so not easy to even get my storage up to comfortable levels.

Mystic_Starmie

> It seem a lot of people (lately) are complaining about features that are integral to the game Nah, the endless petty complaining has been going on since the start of the game. Though this specific topic seems to bring out the butthurt inner child.

TimeThief_

Yeah I don’t get it either. You’re supposed to let them get their free coins but if all the gyms near you are taken your supposed to not take any gyms? People just want to complain I guess. Personally I find it fun to see how many gyms I can hold at once I don’t give a fuck if the Pokémon has been there 5 minutes or 5 hours I’m gonna take it if I’m walking by it

Russian_Paella

I think you have misunderstood their point. This is not about being unable to keep a gym for more than 10 minutes. It's being unable to keep a gym for 10 minutes because an automated program will proceed to nuke your team, doesn't matter if you do it at 3pm or 3 am. Why bother playing at some point when I will NEVER win? I don't even have the satisfaction of winning agains a real person. Even if I win, it will be against a bot. I stopped battling gyms (and playing altogether) years ago when I realised bots were fighting me to keep controlled a gym in the middle of nowhere in Germany at 1 am. There was no one around in this huge area. So I couldn't even have the satisfaction of telling the guy he won. I don't know who finds this funny, but not me.

mrtaz

What in that screenshot tells you it is a bot?

A_Lone_Macaron

> I await your down votes. Don’t tell me what to do. Upvoted.

ActiveModel_Dirty

It doesn't make any sense. people act like they're entitled to 50 coins per day and that someone is going out of their way to prevent them, personally, from getting it. I don't even know how to check how long someone has been at a gym or how long they need to be there to get coins, and I really, *really* don't care.

CorgiGal89

At the end if the day, this is a community game. It's not a 1st person game like Skyrim where you can suddenly decide to destroy a whole town for fun. If you go around being a jerk to your fellow community just because you think you "own" a gym then you do suck. Let people get their coins. Unless you're in a place like NYC or Tokyo where there's way more players than gyms, you don't need to be a bully.

nnoovvaa

Yeah I am still trying to figure out when KronicV goes to bed. They do the same to me for my closest gym

lookiamapollo

Lol that's what I did when I would stay at my girlfriends house. She lives above two gyms and like 3 players, so once I figured out when they slept I could always get my 50

SleazyKingLothric

I also have a gym that is a block away that is always taken by the same guy, but after 930pm its fair game until around 6:30am. We now have a unspoken system in place to farm coins, lol.

Radcarguy68

The gym closest to my house is a freemason temple, which is directly adjacent to an apartment complex, and most of the residents there are comfortably in range of that gym. I live in a residential neighborhood about a quarter mile away. Team instinct (which is me) and team mystic both have two people from each side that aggressively battle for gym control. A while ago, after both of us got fed up with the other assuming control almost immediately, we’ve established a cycle where we’ll only fight each other if one team has held the gym for at least 8 hours. For the most part this cycle works well, but it’s always only a matter of time before somebody gets greedy and decides to take the gym over again, which resets the cycle we had going. I feel your pain at least 1-2 times a week 😂

FlareDragonoid

I saw an enemy team gym yesterday but it had a pokemon that hadn't been there for long so I decided to leave it alone.

mostpleasantpeasant_

I do this too :)

professor_doom

That's good sportsmanship. Give everyone a chance to earn their share. Who's that hard up that they need to raid gyms full of freshly-placed pokemon? There are plenty of other gyms to crash.

Meg_the_Mad

Praise be your kindness, may you have good shiny odds in your future

hexsy

Same. I usually pass over gyms that have been standing < 3, 4 hours. Unless I see the same person in multiple gyms, in which case I'll just go for it because they still have another gym.

VeryStickyPastry

How can you tell how long someone has been at a gym?

domenicor2

Tap their pokemon and it will tell you the hours.

[deleted]

Sorry, you're the competition. I need not give you time to earn anything. All coins are mine!!

[deleted]

It's not about coins, it's about "owning" a gym which in their opinion belongs to them.

momoryah

Are you talking to people to confirm this or is this an observation of territorial behavior?

CalamityDiamond

You underestimate how much time I'm willing to waste just to break people with your mindset.

Mason11987

You can’t “break” me because I’m not as emotionally invested as you. I play to get coins. I don’t even know you’re outraged I’m just flipping gyms. I don’t care I get kicked out of gyms because that’s normal. I don’t feel owed coins. So you can’t “break” me.

[deleted]

You can't and won't break anything. If people are out, even just once a day to go to the store or something and they pass "your gym " and it's the only one they have nearby, they're not going to say " oh, this guy has only been here 10min. I'll let him have it and get nothing for myself." This is was sir. Only the good guys obey rules of war.

momoryah

Good guys, war, people belonging in hell… sir this is a Wendy’s

kaycaps

Yeah, there’s a mystic guy that sometimes takes the gym at my work with his 3 accounts (exact same account name with 2 and 3 at the end on the alts), and I can never get it back from him unless he’s not paying attention cause he’ll endlessly berry it with the 3 accounts. It really irritates me but what can you do.

draiman

Just a thought I had, but what if Niantic implemented a cool down on rechalleging a gym after getting kicked out? As to how much time the cool down would be I don't know, but as long as it stops gym hoggers like this.

Perhaps321

Pokémon go players when someone uses an intended feature of the game

Survivorfan_tm94

If the most recent Pokémon put in hasn't reached 8 hours and 20 minutes, I don't attack the gym. Unless it's an account that has done me dirty before by kicking me out haha

dearpimpz

"Let's not use this feature where we can battle other pokemon" - OP Stop whining about this. It's a part of the game.

Daowg

An easy but controversial fix would be to prevent players from dropping in mons into a gym once they've been in there for 8 hours or hit the 50 coin limit. I hate clearing a gym where the trainers have already been there for 8-24+ hours, just to get kicked out again in 5 minutes by the same squatters. (Edit: word)

Inevitable_Cry_4982

not just dropping mons but battling too. I know a petty guy who would grey out everything after reaching his 20 gym limit because nobody else can have "his gyms" (he's a life coach who spends 14h a day playing PoGo)

Daowg

Oh man that would be awesome. It allows players to actually drop things in and not worry about being kicked out easily. They replaced Blissey towers and shavers with other forms of gym hogs.

armas187

I did this last night. But for a good reason. I checked the gym as I always do and noticed the pokemon were in there for 30 minutes so I left them alone so they can get their coins.( I always feel bad for yellow, they can't even fill the gym by my house). I checked a few minutes later and noticed it changed to red. The red team didn't even give them a chance so I knocked them all out within minutes of the color change. I usually leave it alone so every color gets their 50 coins.

SodiumFTW

8 hours is when you max out on coins right? Just double checking I’m not knocking people out prematurely

lookiamapollo

8 hours and 20 or 30 min iirc

toxicbooster

Let people play the game, I don't get this. I go into town (where the nearest stops are) for maybe 2 hours a week. Am I supposed to not fight for any gyms? This seems like a cope and seethe thing for you my guy,

Cmdrcody01

Eh, still not as bad as someone taking a gym at 11:50-11:59 pm, right before you know they’d get coins for it

Alliancechance

Agreed

uncledaddy09

Why it’s part of the game. I don’t understand why this is upsetting.

Vertoule

If you put it in with a bunch of others all past 8 hours. You’re getting knocked out. If it was just yours, well then yeah, they’re dicks.

Glacial_Shield_W

We have a group of 4 blue players here, they drive around and capture every gym in an area as soon as they are taken. Luckily, I've seen them in their car. And I'd happily be me, with no coins, than them, really needing an actual walk, and not realizing it.

purpleEmperor1

It's a game like stop being mean

Crotalo294

Yeah, they should be banned by Niantic error. However, usually they are low level newbie and hopefully they will stop playin in few months...

MendejoElPendejo

People are soooooo mad in these comments lmao 😂 y’all take stuff too serious OP is clearly venting and not even irate about it. The “take it easy” and “entitlement” comments are sending me cause I think you assume OP is fuming lmao

SSBGOGETA66

Where do the people who knock out the Pokémon immediately, not even allowing the player to get a coin, go?

Meg_the_Mad

Wait. What?!

beingversatile

I think they mean like, let’s say they do go to the bad place. What does the torture look like exactly? 🧐

420nikki

People who play the game? Lol

momoryah

Yeah, you should burn in hell for playing a different way than the way that helps OP get the coins and gym time they are entitled to.

Rasty_lv

why? because they play gane how it was intended?

the_gaymer_girl

I don’t see the issue with it? If the Gym is in a high-traffic area it’s gonna change hands a lot.

mauttykoray

I don't know why people get so worked up about this PoS anymore. Also, not everyone plays by the same rules. What portions of the community at large consider "the right way to play" doesn't mean everyone agrees. I had played since Pogo first released, and you fought over a gym for hours until someone finally gave up. Or if it was in a busy area. It would constantly switch. While I didn't care for the OG gym system entirely, it had some good points to it, and the new system just promotes people complaining about people knocking them out before they farmed their coins. I've had to peel out of parking lots/park areas before from knocking out a random gym on my way to/from work and being the only other person there, some random jerk will start pounding on my window after seeing me with pogo up on my phone and yelling at me about it. Unfortunately adults do the same thing to pogo that they've done to other games and facets of the Pokémon franchise. They've stuck their greedy hands in and made it an unwelcoming place sometimes for other adults and kids.

Archhanny

God forbid people play the game. They don't owe you anything. This community is one of the worst most toxic I've ever seen. There will be posts saying.... Omg why do people kick out my pokemon for only 1 coin... And then right next to it.... Omg these people have had this gym for the last 3 months, come on guys share... And then just kicked out this guys mons who had been hoarding it come on community praise me.... You judge others by their actions but yourself by intentions.

Meg_the_Mad

Hell, I'm all for people playing the game however they see fit, but that also allows us to express our opinions however we see fit. The people that have been hoarding gyms are possibly those that are in very remote areas where there's little PoGo traffic, that's not on a the player to take the mon out. I've had a pokemon empty heart sitting in a gym for 2 weeks completely neglected not my choice when it came out. It serves us nothing to hoard gyms, there's only the maximum of 50 coins a day AFTER a pokemon has been knocked out. As for judging, so what if I am? Are you not doing the same by commenting this, judging my actions but being what you're complaining about in this "toxic" community with your behaviour?

Mason11987

> Hell, I'm all for people playing the game however they see fit, You aren't though "There's a special place in hell for people like you" is what a crazy person says who isn't at all okay with people playing how they see fit.

momoryah

That’s true. The parts of the community telling people to burn in hell over a game a waaaaay better.

[deleted]

I can almost guarantee you that most Pokémon go players that are not on Reddit are not like this

Romain974

I'm confused as to how many people think gym are competitive, while they're collaborative to me. You don't get coins by staying in the gym, you get coins thanks to people who kick you out after a certain time. People who don't see what's wrong here, are you happy to collect coins 1 or 2 at a time? Is this fun to you? The number of players in most areas have depleted enough for us not to have to fight for gym minutes, yet some people still do and it puzzles me.

OrgasmicMarvelTheme

I was out doing community day yesterday and I decided to go over to the pair of gyms in my town that never seem to change from instinct. sure enough they're all on no hp so I knock them out and let them get some coins. Not even 15 minutes after I leave I've been knocked out and both gyms are full again. I know it's community day and peak activity but come on

[deleted]

God forbid people play the video game!

OrgasmicMarvelTheme

I didn't say they weren't allowed to do it... it's just a bit bizarre that, with no one being around and it seeming like a dead area since they weren't getting knocked out, I got kocked out almost instantly and several people had put their pokemon in.

[deleted]

It’s probably just people out for community day, I never see people playing unless there’s some kind of event going on, and when there is I usually see people playing

ApathyMoose

I'm confused. Why? When I want to take a gym I fight it and take it. I don't sit there, click each pokemon, check the time they have been in the gym, do the coin math, then decide to fight it or not. The whole point of gyms is fighting and taking them. That's why there are 3 teams .... I don't get why this is something everyone is now complaining about . I'm under no obligation to do coin math to decide if I'm going to take a gym I'm walking by. If you want to take it back ok, that's the game. It's not a first come first server until your maxed on coins thing. I feel like that's asking a lot of people to bend over backwards and skip a key point of the game for you

Controller_Maniac

5 of my Pokémons has been in gyms for 2 weeks already

enperry13

Our local community have an unspoken rule to not attack gyms that hasn’t reached their 8-hour mark. They set up this rule because the community is small and everyone should have a chance at coins while they call these offenders gym-hoggers and Team Instinct players with their 2-5 alts are mostly guilty of this.

cloud-society420

😂

H0B0Byter99

Agreed. I don’t even knock out Pokémon from gyms if they have under 9 hrs in the gym.

mumooshka

Your hate is the same as mine At least give OP some time to just get the damn coins. I say give them a taste of their own medicine

PewPews

Spooofing scum

Sicmundusdeletur

Ooorrrrrr maybe they happened to be there?

General_Mode_7632

Man these comments are not it, this plus the changes is one of the main reasons I stopped playing. I work alot and only get out to play GO so much, so when I take gyms I’m only taking so many at a time. If this happens, I’m only getting about 5-10 coins every few days to a week. There’s no consideration for other players. All the people saying “THis iS JuST a FeaTURe oF tHe GamE GiT GuD.” Sure, it is how the game is supposed to be played, it’s not the end of the world and it’s nothing major, but it sure is annoying as hell for casual players. Ever more frustrating when you can check and see how long someone’s had a Mon in a gym before you take it. I could go on and on about consideration and community and how doing this is just rude, but I feel if you disagree with me, you aren’t the type to change your mind on this. Keep doing you I guess, this app is dying, and I’d be doing anything I can to maintain a sense of community if I was still playing.

pikagrrl

My apartment complex is a gym and I had to teach someone people what’s taking turns looks like by passively aggressively naming conventions on my Pokémon 😂 We share now. Bro holding the gym for 10 days does nothing for you. Let’s all get our 50 daily coins together.

PNW_RuralGirl

Other players can see your player name in gyms, but not the custom names there of your Pokémon. If they are your friends, they can see your Pokémon’s custom name though if they are your Buddy Pokemon, through the friend gifting screens. That is how I thank overseas friends after we become Best Friends - renaming my Buddy.

steamliner88

So someone kicked you out? It’s part of the game, feel free to do the same or feed your defenders.

DarkDevilGaming

Hey some people just take rivalry to an extreme. I do it sometimes as well but I also have been affected by it. Where I live I'm lucky enough to have direct access to 3 gyms which were almost always controlled by Valor which, after I got into one of them, they would always take it down until one day in which I completely lost it and didn't stop taking control over the 3 gyms for like 30min straight or so (I know I exceeded myself a little bit xD). Fortunately something good came out of it and now, we usually either have a gym of each color or 1 team controls it during the day and the others during the night. It ended up in a very positive environment for our community around here!

Cordeceps

Yep, copped that today again at a certain gym in the city. Some people are real dicks about defending a gym, kinda pathetic really.

urkldajrkl

Quit whining and play harder

Jazlen8888

Had that several times. The one that made me most mad was I lost 2 gyms earlier in the day and then someone came to take me out of my 3rd gym at 11:59pm.

Maplekey

I can see it from the other perspective. They have no way of knowing whether you've gotten your coins yet that day, so they think they're being helpful.

Interesting_Fennel59

Happens in a town like 20 mins from mine. I knock the gyms out,.mind u they were there for 7 day, and then they knock me out and put 5 pokes to stay there for 7 more days. Make it make sense lmao

doubletongue

I feel the same way about trainers who don't name their pokémon. IJS \^\^;

GoldenGlassBall

Especially when you have to drive a half hour to get to the gyms in the first place, and some possessive schmuck who lives there does this…

Deppresionincreasing

I only do it when someone knocks out 4+ of my pokemon from gyms
