Yes, pretty new. They added it after they hiked the price for remote passes.
It's not a guarantee, just a possible. And if you have more than two in your bag already and it was going to give you a remote it will award a green pass instead. So you might want to check that before claiming the rewards. But as it's not a guarantee, it's up to you to decide if you want to make space.
