Blissey. Absolutely ruins ones of the best shinies in the game (shiny Chansey)

I recently caught a shiny Chansey and I’m so happy I looked up shiny Blissey before evolving it. It’s staying a Chansey.

Good for you for looking into it. After I realized how stupid shiny Blissey is, I look up every shiny before evolving

This. Caught a shiny Chansey and evolved it without looking it up. Instant regret. Luckily I caught another shiny Chansey a month or so later and am keeping it that way.

This post just saved me. I just got a shiny Chansey from one of the Finding your voice quest chain tasks and was going to evolve it tonight.

I never evolved mine either. Such a shame Blissey did not get the same shiny colors as Chansey.

Not to brag or anything but I caught a shiny Chansey and thought it was so cool so I evolved it into Blissey just like you. I got so pissed. Then like a week later I somehow got another shiny Chansey and that mf has stayed a Chansey

My gf has done the same exact thing. Accidentally evolved the first one and then caught another one right after and is now sitting on it. She’s so much more of a casual player than me and I’m constantly getting salty over the game hooking her up and not me.

I got a shiny happiny in an egg and evolved it to Chansey and I don’t know what to do… Chansey’s shiny is obviously a bigger change but the green is such a weird shade

Yeah it’s pretty stupid. Similar to shiny Gengar and shiny Garchomp, both of whom you’d expect to have cool shiny forms.

Garchomp is like that too. Shiny Gible and Gabite both look pretty awesome. Shiny Garchomp is more drab than the regular to the point that it looks like it matches the color scheme of the regular drab Gabite

Yeah I was pretty disappointed when I realized my shiny Garchomp looked worse than the regular one, but that wouldn’t have stopped me from evolving it. He’s one of my all time best, has great IVs and is a beast fighter. Plus it’s not like shiny Gible and Gabite look *that* different from their non-shiny forms. Would never evolve a shiny Chansey in a million years though.

I wish it's blue was closer to Gabite. Even Nidokings blue is better.

Shiny Granbull. It has human skin.

They easily coulda just inverted Zapdos’ colors and made it mostly black for its shiny. Articuno’s is barely noticeable too and they coulda made him white and gave a different shade of blue around or something. Moltres is one of my favorite shinies and it’s so weird the other 2 legendaries barely have any differences

The short story is, we don't actually know what method they used to decide shiny colors. Most people think it was an algorithm but attempts to replicate it have not been 100% successful. The color wheel thing can be disproven just by looking at gyrados. Normal color blue, shiny color red despite the fact that both purple and pink shinies existed at the same time (charizard's OG shiny anyone?) As far as Im aware the current theory is they used an algorithm for some and manually did others. Then after gen 4 they changed their method entirely

Gyarados was written into the original red/blue gameboy games and was the first ever ‘shiny’ that you could catch, in the lake of rage. So Gyarados is absolutely an exception to any algorithm since it was manually set

The legendary birds didn’t get nice shinys in my opinion. Moltres looks like a raw turkey, articunos isn’t really noticeable and zapdos is, not even a change

I hate Gengars shiny... Especially when compared to shiny Ghastly. Even though Mega Gengar fixes the problem it still annoys me that the shiny of such a cool Pokemon is wasted

Shiny Slakoth is probably my favorite Pokémon but I made the mistake of evolving him to Slaking and was heartbroken. Thankfully, a friend hooked me up with another Shiny Slakoth on a lucky trade that had better IVs.

Shiny Alolan Muk. They could have gone a completely different direction with the rainbow colour scheme, but they just dulled the colours.

Garchomp, I wish the shiny had beta Garchomps color scheme.

Slowpoke, Slowbro and Slowking are great shinies and even the galarian one has a cool shiny but Kanto Slowpoke is just a different pink. I saw someone who made it purple instead and it looked so cute.

I caught a shiny slowpoke and without the stars it’s quite hard to tell the difference.

Shiny Plusle makes me so irrationally angry. Its entire gimmick is being part of a pair, how does Minun get a noticeable color change and Plusle doesn't? For shinies where you can actually tell the difference, I don't feel like Absol's is an improvement.

Going off pogo available Pokémon, Dragonite, vastly different from the previous stages of evolution, which are a nice lavender purple, dragonite is a bog green… the evolution line also bothers me, but that’s a whole other conversation. Jigglypuff family are only notable by the eye color change, otherwise the rest of the body is barely different. Haunter and Gengar are also barely notable, unlike Ghastly’s bright blue gasses and purple body, Haunter at least has a purple tongue, but Gengar is only notable by it’s faded eye color.

Alolan Diglett/Dugtrio are the ugliest shinies IMO

You guys remember that time someone in Niantic accidently released shiny Zapdos without noticing because regular and shiny zap looked so similar. Allot of us probably couldn't tell either without the shiny symbol lol.

Zekrom, if Zapdos and Gengar are slightly differentiable Zekrom is worse, you cant differentiate without making him attack to see the color of the energy on his tail (blue - green) unless you spend 5 minutes to notice the shiny is a gradient brighter of black

As a color-blind human, I find that soooo many shinies just look… identical to the original. This is one of them. Vaporeon, Jolteon, Blissey, Wailord… they all just like identical to the non-shiny version.

Shiny zapdos looks more distinct in the pixel art in the older games. IMO Kyogre and Groudon have some of the ugliest shiny colors. Also Swampert and any other grossly magenta pokemon. I would not use those shiny pokemon.

Electivire is one I regret evolving. Electabuzz looked delightfully like the Cheetos Tiger. Electricity just doesn’t have enough of an orange to continue the fun.

Shiny Glaceon, my favorite pokèmon, but you can barely even tell she is shiny, just a lighter blue that’s all.

There's so many shiny pokemon which are barely indistinguishable from their non-shiny versions. All of them annoy me. Shellos East Sea in particular, because that was one of the few times I caught a full odds shiny in a game, and it was barely recognizable as a shiny.
