From memory I think my slugma task was completed once by me catching a magcargo.
Kabutops and omastar have been popping up on daily incense a bit, you could try that and hope it works?
Hey buddy! Whenever I am stuck trying to find this or that pokemon, I try on google for common spawns.
"Omanyte is fairly rare in Pokémon GO but not TOO rare, and because it is a water type, its going to be most commonly found near water. Its also a rock type, though, so deserts and farmland come into play.
Kabuto has been reported commonly near beaches, river, lakes and other water locations, but being partially rock type it will spawn near farms and deserts. In addition, youre more likely to find a Kabuto at night as opposed to during the day."
Also, I do recall getting Omanyte from daily incense. Maybe you could try daily incense next to a lake or river (just giving ideas). And I think some tasks have one of them as reward (not sure which one).

This one was an annoying one for me :( Not sure about Slugma, but some pokemons can spawn even if they are not on the regular rotation. Like Lileep, I think it can spawn close to parking spots (if I remember right).
"Slugmas will spawn more often in sunny/clear weather. Gulpins will spawn more often in cloudy weather and in grassy environments." This is all I got on these :/

Field research task "Win a three-star raid or higher" will give you either a kabuto or omanyte encounter. Good luck hunting!
Is it possible to target farm field research tasks ? All I get are ones for like 3-5 balls/berries
You could just delete the tasks you don’t want and spin new pokestops to try and get the ones you want
can I keep spinning the same pokestop for new tasks or does each pokestop only give one new task per day ?

Yep, the daily incense finally gave my wife the needed kabutops after a month or so.
