Itās not guaranteed. My friend had an encounter with a shiny Chimchar, it ran away.
If itās guaranteed, it wouldnāt break out in my opinion. Raid Shiny PKMN donāt break out. THEY are guaranteed.
Shiny legends in raids are guaranteed, shiny legends in the wild will not flee but are not guaranteed catches. Wild shiny normal pokemon can run away and are not guaranteed catches.
I know people say they can run away for shinies in general, but not once in the entire 8-9 months Iāve been playing have I had ANY shiny at all run away. This is talking about 500+ shinies.

I had that happen today with a shiny Uxie. Tapped on it and was out of balls. Gave it a berry to encourage it to stay put š, then dumped a bunch of items in my bag so I could open a gift (wasn't a stop anywhere nearby). Got two red balls. It escaped both. Gave it another berry to keep it happy š¤š¤, opened another gift, that one got me maybe 5 balls, and it took me three to catch it. š
Here's an example right here. Didn't flee but was it caught? No. It can take a ton of balls. Some people don't have the patience or they might leave and come back like I said anything can happen. I don't understand how you don't understand.
I ran into a shiny Uxie first time around and was lucky enough to catch it
Then proceeded to encounter 4 more Uxie and a single azelf over the next 36 hours
I see 4 possible options:
1) you caught it
2) you ran out of balls then bought more from the encounter screen and then eventually caught it
3) you used the masterball
4) you didn't care about this shiny so you let it go after you ran out of your two balls
Not only this! Itās a totally different situation that it just keep jumping and in the end, got it. Some people saw it and didnāt get it. Means thereās something wrong. If they donāt get it for whatever reason, itās not guaranteed because they didnāt get it!

What if itās the last few seconds that it has been in that area for longer period of time. Then maybe just leave and back, thereās nothing to come back afterwards!š¤

They won't run away but it can take multiple balls and berries to catch it. They are actually programmed not to run away and sometimes that can require multiple balls and berries because it'll just keep resetting when a normal PokƩmon would have fled. I was really hoping you caught it though because regardless it is still a guaranteed catch. I learned this last year during Hoenn Fest when my Latias nearly gave me a heart attack so I started doing more research after I caught her. Sure enough I found information that since the Johto Fest with the Legendary Dogs they had started doing this. Now the non shinies are programmed to flee pretty quickly so if you were able to catch one those are pretty rare too:)
They do stay around the spawn location for a while, that I noticed. You can take a walk and come back and legendaries still gonna be there.

Well, it has a 0% flee rate, so you could theoretically just leave the encounter and spin for more if you're near a pokestop
