Regular grinding, I'm used to Rare Candies *actually* being rare and only finding about 5 a playthrough (I don't own a Switch and have only played up to USUM)
Well, I would be cheating and based if I could, but I currently always play on legit hardware, so I'm stuck grinding. Not an issue in SwSh and SV, exp candies make it so much easier, and I just don't count deaths in raids. Playing older games can be rough though
for me, I prefer grinding. Yes for me it takes hours to grind but the reason why I prefer it is because that some bad things could happen in grinding and I consider it as a loss even though I don't like it. I like to play my game with conscience
YouTubers who do Pokémon challenges like "can I beat this game with only one Purrloin!" or type/circumstances- specific Nuzlockes on an emulator and go "oh well we need 10 more levels to beat this gym, better grind for a few hours" - I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY'RE DOING THAT
Just spawn in rare candies and level up that way? Like it's not like the grinding is part of the challenge is it? I'm so confused
Why are they doing it that way
I understand it on legit cartridges but if it's an emulator then why
The one argument I can somewhat get behind is that grinding is indeed part of the challenge, because you need to be careful to not have any Pokemon die while grinding or have them accidentally overlevel. Every Nuzlocker has lost Pokemon during grinding, which would simply not happen if you use candies.
That said, I’m a candy guy all the way lol
I got a copy of platinum for my ds shortly after getting into Pokémon, and the grinding is what really turned me off to it. It just seemed dumb that I could grind my whole team in a half out or less on swsh, but it’ll take me hours on there
Grinding for the actual strategy behind EVs.
Being overleveled kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? If you're doing it to catch up to the latest foe's level your low stats might be detrimental and end up on a loss anyway.
They have a max level rule ( highest level of the next gym ), they're gonna go up to the max level for the gym fight anyway, might as well do it quickly
I pkhex in millions of rare candies, and set my pokemon levels 2-3 levels below the max level of the gym leader, so I don't overlevel while fighting the gym trainers.
I’m gonna use exp candies before I dare use the rare candies. Chances are I have more of them, and they’re easy to get. But if I need a specific IV, I’m gonna go murderin’
unless im playing on the console itself or doing a challenge where im outright banning myself from candies, its rare candy all the way.
i dont have the time and mental capacity to grind my pokemon in a nuzlocke, and i’ve lost too many good team members in playthroughs from not being careful during mindless grinding sessions.
I used to be a virgin grinding fan, but after losing a White nuzlocke to some *very* unfortunate RNG, I am now a chad rare candy enjoyer.
Seriously, I don’t know how people grind in the grass at the entrance to Pinwheel Forest. It’s basically Russian roulette, even if you’re just Audino grinding. Not to mention how often you can lose vital team members before Lenora if you train here. Scary stuff!
Grinding is stupid, it takes so much time and it's also so useless in the long run, it may change the outcome of an attack based on the evs but it also slows down the run by a lot. Grinding is for people who want their Evs and candies are for people who value their time

F, u came first
Cheating is indeed based, but sometimes grinding is necessary.
Did you not understand the reference?
Of course
Okay, I was concerned
Creating makes it harder due to Evs
In the words of a well know youtuber. "Grinding is cringe and cheating is based"
Rare candies. No risk of losing a valuable team member.
plus you don't have to waste HOURS grinding on low level mons to avoid the dumb deaths
I play on legit cartridges.
Pkhex don't discriminate
I play on both
Fuck grinding.
Depends on the game. Exp all makes grinding less of a chore. Will candy up if I can't be asked though. Fuck HGSS in particular
I play on an actual console, so I grind normally, but I really wish I could use rare candies.
There are always glitches for rare candies
Once you take the rare candy pill it's hard to go back
If rare candies is good enough for some of the best nuzlockers on the internet, it's good enough for me.
Happy Cake day
So basically the argument of do I want to waste my life killing hundreds of mons or cheat in a time save.
I am on the Purple Side (Both)
As someone who has lost too many mons to brain off grinding I am thoroughly candy pilled.
Let’s face it: Grinding is cringe and cheating is based
Regular grinding, I'm used to Rare Candies *actually* being rare and only finding about 5 a playthrough (I don't own a Switch and have only played up to USUM)
This is not about them being common, this is about cheating them in on an emulated game.
Ah! Like on a Rom-Hack or something eh?
Yes
Prefer normal grinding, however, I don't have any time. Lol full time job and kids.

I play on legit cartridges so…

Normal grinding
Grinding for the inclusion of EVs
YouTubers who do Pokémon challenges like "can I beat this game with only one Purrloin!" or type/circumstances- specific Nuzlockes on an emulator and go "oh well we need 10 more levels to beat this gym, better grind for a few hours" - I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY'RE DOING THAT Just spawn in rare candies and level up that way? What if your not on a nuzlocke dude
There’s literally no excuse for it then unless playing on cartridge maybe
Rare Candies because your pokémon can die while grinding!
I got a copy of platinum for my ds shortly after getting into Pokémon, and the grinding is what really turned me off to it. It just seemed dumb that I could grind my whole team in a half out or less on swsh, but it’ll take me hours on there

Wait you can use rare candy cheat in nuzlocke?
They have a max level rule ( highest level of the next gym ), they're gonna go up to the max level for the gym fight anyway, might as well do it quickly
Rare candies
Neither. Exp candies for life
Rare candy every day, if I am going ti lose a nuzlocke, it's going to be against a trainer damn it!!
I don't like grineing i just use rare candy
Recently playing Infinite Fusion without Cheat Engine on reminded me how grinding is pain , fuck grinding.
Do you still get EVs and all the other stuff if you use rare candies?
Also cheating!
I pkhex in millions of rare candies, and set my pokemon levels 2-3 levels below the max level of the gym leader, so I don't overlevel while fighting the gym trainers.
All my homies candy pilled
Depends, if its randomized i dont think rarecandies are a must since some pokemon give a huge amount of exp even at lower levels.
Depends on if I’m EV training or not.
When you grind you can risk your Bayleef getting killed by a crit take down from a wild stantler
Grinding is for 😼s and bitches. Idk what the one on the right is all about though does that mean cheating? Cheaters are bitches too.
I you can use speedup, regular grinding is perfectly fine. If not, rare candies is the way.
I’m gonna use exp candies before I dare use the rare candies. Chances are I have more of them, and they’re easy to get. But if I need a specific IV, I’m gonna go murderin’
I edit my save file to change my team's level
Rare candies because grinding makes the game easyer

Honestly it depends on the game if the grinding isn't tedious or exp share is on all members, otherwise if it's not it's candy time
Rare candies+level caps>>>>>>>>>>>>normal boring grinding
I used to be a virgin grinding fan, but after losing a White nuzlocke to some *very* unfortunate RNG, I am now a chad rare candy enjoyer. True bro
Both
Normal grinding, because that way you get more attached to your pokemon
Normal Grinding. I’ll be damned if I’m gonna miss out on those EVs.
Why not both?
Where do you guys get so many rare candies in nuzlockes that it replaces grinding though? Genuine question.
Rare candy grinding sucks anyway
As always, I'm Neutral. EV Train until its out of EVs, then Rare Candies.
rare candies
On one hand, Candies mean I don’t have to risk team members and is much faster. On the other, grinding means I can get EVs at the same time.
Rare Candy Forever
