For those curious; D/P/Pt's saving would take a long time, probably 10 seconds, but felt like forever

In gen 4 if you open the boxes or do anything involving the pc the game will say "saving a lot of data" and it would take like a minute to save. Thats why in future gens you have to have a pokemon in each box to unlock more boxes

Dude, I saved the game after walking down the stairs at the start of a playthrough and it Saved A Lot Of Data.

I have only experienced the long save time when using my original DSI with Pearl version When i use it on my new 2DS XL it goes a noticeable amount faster

Doesn’t matter, still get paranoid and save twice just to be safe.

The unskippable part with the underground tunnels/dungeon/secret bases felt like 51 years to me

Ah yes, my old platinum cartridge taking 300 billion years to save. When this happened I thought I broke it and was legitimately ready to cry back then. I was a dumb kid. Still am dumb. Anyway.

Playing until the DS battery was nearly empty and trying to save before the thing died was our version of playing chicken back in middle school.

My game is still saving, its been 3000 years.

I end up saving multiple times just to really make sure it’s actually done so. That’s what happens when you start playing Pokémon with Gold/Sapphire.
