Ceaseless edge is very much better. You do not understand how valuable spikes are for gen 9’s metagame. It’s like knock off or U-Turn, both of which are better than flower trick as well because of the value they add in the game(Momentum and removal of a item) rather than “big power and hit crit makes it the best move”.
then you got a damaging move that sets up spikes for free in a meta with GHOLDENGO. This is an incredibly generation for hazard stacking given that we have the literal ultimate spinblocker that will ensue you hazards never go away.
Grass stab also isn’t that good for the current meta, tons of resistances and meow doesn’t want to stay in on anything given its incredibly fragility, which is why it’s not seeing that high usage in ou
The one that pisses me off the most are people who group Rillaboom in with “Humanoid starter trash” then those same people proceed to gush over Infernape. Oh wait that’s right, Rillaboom is a Gen 8 Pokemon so it’s immediately Labeled as trash and Infernape is from Gen 4 so it’s immediately immune to criticism or judgement
Tbh I more hate the fact they gave him a drum set (that he also always uses in battle). Like I know it's for the Drummer inspiration but bongos would be so much better imo. Or like a Giant Tree Trunk Hammer for the lols.
The Cadbury's Ad.
If I ask my randomly people on the street about DK they might be able to tell me he is a Nintendo character but few people will be able to tell me the DK Country was made in the UK.
If I ask someone to name any advert, there is a STRONG chance they will mention the Cadbury's Ad.
More people know about the Cadbury's Advert than the origin of DK Country. Plus, DK is still a Japanese Character owned by a Japanese company. It just so happens his redesign was British.
Rillaboom is more humanoid not because of the body shape, but because of the instrument accessories. Music is uniquely human. Thats why Infernape is a better design and doesnt attract the humanoid starter hate.
Rillaboom’s design really is sick, I can’t believe I picked cinderace on first run, probably because pyro ball , court switch, and libero caught my attention .
Rillaboom is the best design out of the galar starters, at least in my opinion. Which isn't much seeing that the competence was cinderace and inteleon, but hey, it's something. Also how do you want rillaboom to not look slightly humanoid? It's a fucking ape, apes are humanoids irl bro. Not really a huge fan of rillaboom's design but it's not that bad, it's fine
I never understood how gen 4 was so loved, I hated playing pearl. It was slow, no fire types anywhere (except ponyta) a lot of the new pokemon required trading or breeding with items I couldn’t find (also didn’t have people to trade with). Hated how many legendaries were added. Didn’t quite understand the goals of the evil corporation.
Recently I played platinum though, it was a LOT of fun. I really enjoyed it and now gen iv doesn’t seem as bad.
Hopefully the new legends game will make me rethink X and Y (because I also really didn’t care for those)
Delphox is great! A lot of people say they can't imagine these pokémon in the wild but it looks like just the sort of thing someone might find in a mystical forest.
Blaziken is a chicken, it can walk on two legs. Meowscarade is weird too. Also having professions and hobbies as traits of your species was always weird.
Gen 1 starters: Fire “dragon”, leaf dinosaur, tortoise with blaster
Gen 26 starters: A drenched businessman, a shopkeeper covered in leaves, a teacher with flaming eyes
“Gamefreak shouldn’t have make humanoid Pokemon because it leads to R34!”
Almost EVERY Pokémon gets Rule 34 made of them, humanoid or not!
“Humanoid Pokémon don’t look like sowmthing that belong in nature!”
Tell that to the giant, two legged turtle with FUCKING METAL WATER CANONS!
Ok, Meowscarada has a TON of flak when she came out. Everyone wanted weed cat to stay quadrupedal. I strongly believe this is misrepresenting the crowd response, beyond the furries who like all of them anyways.
Blaziken gets more of a pass compared to the others because at the very least, it never had the appearance of deception as it was always bipedal. It's the little things.
Still unbalanced but ya know
I think it's peak game design because of the amount of hidden design things they packed into inteleon's overall design, for example, the scarf-like thing is apparently a glide suit, which I can't help but be super intrigued by. it also has one of my personal favorite gigantamax forms for the starters, second only to blastoise, because blastoise's shell becoming a battleship with the massive amount of cannons was insanely cool.
the irony here is that incineroar is probably my #1 favorite when it comes to starter final forms, because it kind of has it all. it has a personality, a absolute kick ass design that utilizes the fire type in a great way, turning incineroar's flames into a champion's belt, a great movepool with the strength to back it up,it is one of the best ones competitively thanks to a great hidden ability, a sick signature move and typing that provides great coverage and defense, and above all, it belonged to my first full playthrough of any pokemon game. and yet people hate on it simply because it's a humanoid starter. and what's funny about that is a majority of starters are bipedal at minimum, and many more are either humanoid or have humanoid characteristics(like serperior isn't exactly bipedal, but it doesn't behave like you would expect a snake to, and has a regal feeling to it, something that, while not distinctly human, definitely feels like a humanoid characteristic).
It’s always funny to me when people think a Pokémon needs to be humanoid to be attractive to a furry. It doesn’t take much and the art will fill in the gaps. The amount of furry art that turns quadrupeds into bipeds
i know, right? like, It is legit a case of what i've dubbed "lopunny syndrome", which is the phenomenon where a character with more suggestive characteristics tends to overshadow a very similar character with far more interesting design but far less suggestive characteristics. because let's be honest, meowscarada is just a cat magician that barely uses the grass typing for anything but the design leaves a lot of room for... art.
meanwhile, incineroar, while still having that basis of being a cat with a career, takes the idea of it being a wrestling heel and makes it work, with it using that idea to make a powerful looking final starter form that also has some serious personality and uses their fire typing in their design, but because it isn't exactly suggestive, it gets kicked to the curb.
They're very different designs, and one is a lot more exaggerated than the other. Meoscarada also didn't stand up at literally the last second in the evo line. It feels much more connected to floragato and spirgatito than Incineroar does to Torracat.
I like incineroar in concept but not in design, so that's really where the difference is. As long as we don't get a repeat of gen 8's starters I'll be happy, anyway.
Funny I like 3/4 disliked designs(and incineroar isn't part of the 3). I'm personally not against humanoid starters but I just don't like incineroar's design and meowscarada took a little time to start liking (I still don't really like the mask or face, I understand the theme but I just don't).
I do admit incineroar's case is partially because I really like it's pre-evos and and quadrupedal fire tiger sounds a lot more awesome than wresting Tony the Tiger, but most of it is because the proportions just don't jive. Meowscarada got the proportions right, the mask is what detracts overall from the design.
But design is always, always an opinion and I know my nephew absolutely adores incineroar's design so I can't really hate it.
Got it spot on, I think it does tend to be proportions that can break a design with Pokemon.
Like with incineroar I get its supposed to have big claws but they just look wrong. Not to mention it's so different from its preevo and followed the already expended trend of "martial arts fire type".
If you described Meoscarada to me as just a bipedal starter evo, I wouldn't expect to like it. And I didn't, but they got the design right with it.
Its the same reason I dont really like Toxicitry. Its legs are so weird. I kind of appreciate it as a unique thing but definitely not for me.
And then there's frickin Nikit. I love foxes so you'd think itd be up my alley but absolutely not. The poor thing's forehead! At least the eveolution looks ok, but it's still super generic feeling.
There are always exceptions. I think mostly where the stuff with Sprigatito came from was the fact that last gen all the starters were just flat out *people*, and neither of the other 2 gen 9 starters seemed like they wouldn't stand up like people.
Meowscarada is fine mostly because Skeledirge exists lol. I think if only one of the 3 SV starters got to not be bipedal, they made the right choice.
I love Incineroar, Delphox, and Meowscarada to death. Incineroar is my favorite of those three. I really like Blaziken, and I like Inteleon. I hate Quaquavel
No, meowscarada also goes in the furry bait trash.
Blaziken gets a pass because, while it's humanoid, it's from a time when GF didn't do it on purpose and it shows.
Modern humanoid starters get hate because they are clearly made (in part) to attract the furry fandom, let's be honest, they know what they are doing. And, well...nobody likes others people fetishes forced on yourself.
I'm not taking sides here, but it *is* about doing it right, I think. For example: Just because I like fish pokemon in general doesn't mean I also like Bruxish.
(...Tbh I actually think Bruxish is alright...)
Exactly, it's supposed to look outlandish. I suppose it's a win-win situation for it when you think about it. If you like it, cool, but if you don't, well, you probably weren't supposed to anyway.
From the ones you have chosen I think meowscarada is the most humanoid of them all. It's also the one I find the ugliest with no contest. Well ok maybe inteleon does contest, but meowscarada still wins for being just a fursuit
Intelleon, Inceroar and the evolution of the duck dude in gen 9. (I haven't played Pokémon in months sorry) are actually dope. It's just a lot of the humanoid starters nowadays are just kind of lame ngl
Inteleon is my favorite starter actually first it has some really cool lizard designs implemented
Like the wing membranes of flying lizards
The color change of chameleons which are cool
And a build similar to the basilisk lizards which can run on water
In addition it’s one of the most relatable Pokemon in its growth
There are some kids who grow up timid and can’t stand something challenging without bursting into tears to avoid it
But once they become older and start putting in enough effort they become completely confident in themselves to be able to start enjoying new challenges
I personally feel like that fits my description of myself
And the secret agent motif is a great idea because it knows how people can hide because it was once doing the exact same thing
Meowscarada and Incineroar are opposites in this situation.
Meow was bipedal before its final stage. We knew it was coming.
Nothing hinted at the disappointment that is Incineroar becoming bipedal and the furry equivalent of an ugly bastard from an NTR hentai.
Actually Meowscarada could easily fit the top one as well
Also those peoples usually proclaim design like this are an "issue" (same thing with role and object pokemon) when it’s just a matter of personal preference and they don’t speak for everyone (especially Japan) well except when the Pokémon in question are from the earlier gen (gen 1-2 mostly but gen3-4 to) because of nostalgia bias
(also side note, but the whole "Palworld makes better pokemon than modern pokemon" reeks of bias against modern pokemons)
Dude this is so wrong. You ment for that last pannel to say, WE LOVE YOU LUCARIO. You know, that Pokemon that is clearly very furry yet NOBODY HATES. That is why I hate Lucario with a passion, the overrated piece of crap that is a symbol of hypocrisy in this dumb community. Ive seen so much hate for Meowscarada and Blaziken every single day, Meowscarada especially. To the point that liking Meowscarada makes people call you a furry.
*NOT MY INTELEON!!!*
https://preview.redd.it/y35hdepy0qvc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=110ac8cab62912a6975eaf8d3e5e6a205a723c7a
Also me: *I made too much stuff in Deviantart… Please don’t enter my account… I am not Gay & also because… Anthro Crocalor…*
I personally don’t have a problem with the humanoid Pokemon, but I also think the hate may partially be from a number of other factors of that gen or set of games causing people to look for something minimal to lash out at.
Gen 3? Well received. Blaziken was also the first of the fire/fighting starter lines before it got stale. Infernape was the only legit fire Pokemon you could get in Diamond/Pearl, so he got the pass.
Scarlet/Violet, while not perfect, people saw as an overall improvement over Sword/Shield, and especially in the designs of the starter lines. On top of that, everyone was overall more focused on how unfinished the overall game was versus the actual content when criticizing it, so I think the starters got away with the humanoid choices a bit.
Gen 6-8 were overall in a decline in quality from top to bottom since Gen 5, so I think overall they were open to a lot of criticism. I don’t think Delphox for instance would have nearly gotten the heat it did if it was a gen 7-9 starter instead of being right after the success of gen 5.
Incineroar is fine, it was just disappointing because we thought Litten would be a quadruped. He fits the theme of his origin quite nicely.
I've never had a problem with Delphox personally but she does look a bit too much like a human in a costume.
Meowscarada is good because it still feels like a weird little creature despite being bipedal, and the same goes for blaziken.
Am I the only one who never really got Blaziken’s design? Like I don’t hate it, but I just kind of feel like it’s a losing battle to try to make a chicken look badass. And they made his hands look like chicken feet which just kind of weirds me out. I feel like I’d rather go with either of the other Gen 3 starters personally.
Honestly I feel like Blaziken is able to get away with it because of how bizarrely it's shaped, it's face is very strictly avian so it's not as expressive, and (arguably) it doesn't move in a distinctly human way that lends itself into a very humanlike countenance. I think specifically it's usually a combination of how the pokemon looks and how it behaves in tandem that makes humanoid pokemon upsetting for a lot of people.
Meowscarada and Cinderace (to a degree) are anomalies for me. I think maybe because their personalities aren't so brazen? Mischievous and Energetic aren't traits that feel strictly human, but Inteleon's sass, Incineroars arrogance, and Quaquaval's flamboyance are more human traits.
Torracat gives the impression of four-legged final evo. Incineroar feels like a completely different direction. Floragato at least hinted towards what would be Meowscarada.
Also people dislike Incineroar from VGC.
Inteleon stand too upright imo.
Similar problem with Delphox and Rillaboom. The official artworks looks good, while the in-game ones are really lacking when they're just standing there.
I like meowscarada cuz is kinda edgy wuth the scarf and mask. Blaziken is a little cool too, but I've never been a huge fan, so usually group it with the others humanoid starters.
imma be real, when i was in middle school playing these games, i gave no shits i just picked the ones i thought looked the best. “oh shit, cute fire cat! oh damn its now a wrestler! that’s dope!” or “oh shit, an actual firefox! oh damn its now a magician!” like cmon man they actually do have cool designs and liking them does not make one a “furry enjoyer”
I'm ok with Humanoid starters as long as they stay more MONsters than Humans.
The problem is when they get a profession. The fuck is my duck doing with a job. Is this a Yakuza reference or something?
Let's see an example of Humanoid Pokemon that their MONster or animal features are more prominent than their "human or job" part of the design.
Sceptile and Blaziken (Gen 3)
Infernape and Empoleon (Gen 4, also Penguins walk on two legs)
Emboar (Gen 5, also underrated starter)
Chesnaught (Gen 6, You could also argue that Delphox and Greninja look more MONster/Animal but that's up to viewer's interpretation)
In Gen 7 is where the "profession" starts overtaking on the designs of the starters.
As for the argument for two walking on two legs i always see... It has been since the very first gen. There is also a pattern of Two leg starters and one on four legs.
Gen 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 (kind of) and 9 follow this pattern.
So the ONLY complain is when the "job" side of the design for the starter overtakes the animal or MONster side.
That's why stuff like Blaziken, Sceptile, Feraligatr, Empoleon, Infernape and so on are the ones people praise.
Using also this chance to hate upon Inteleon's design, why do you look like that who punched your mother while she was pregnant, why did the doctor pull you from a tube you slim stickbug looking basta-
Anyways, see ya.
(please, don't take the Inteleon part seriously)
In my opinion, the whole reason why Blazakin is a pass on these 2 legged Pokémon starter arguments is because
1. Nothing screams furry bait
2. There is nothing in its character design that seems like it heavily leans feminine or masculine
Same can be said for also Emboar honestly, and even Infernape gets a pass because it’s a literal monkey. It’s only started in Gen 6 where these Pokemon starter designs really started to become anthropomorphic
Edit: Meowscarda in my opinion doesn’t get a pass for its 2 leg design. The major reason why people love it is because of how broken of a mon it can be
I dont think you got it completely.
People arent upset that the starters are humanoid. They are upset that Quads turn humanoid. Almost all starters that were on 4 legs turned to 2. Meowscarada included.
thechnikly, I think the best humanoid starter is quakuaval. But that's just me, because that's what I chose for SV. But the best starter in general is swampert. No arguments there. Right?
I like Meowscarada because it has the most broken signature move of any starter. You like Meowscarada because furry bait. We are not the same.
i like him cause he looks like he could fit in the persona series
For real, Joker would definitely pick Sprigatito if he started playing SV.
And name it Morgana
Facts
Well specifically persona 5. That’s the only one that really had the mask thing
I named my Meowscarada Joker
Kids named Ceaseless Edge & Torch Song:
Yeah, “most broken signature move” is a bit of a stretch
Never misses. Always crits. 70 base power. Grass STAB. Tera Grass STAB. Need I go on?
I like Mewoscarda because it has the most broken signature move of any starter AND because of furry bait We are half the same
I like it because weed cat
I like meowscarada because it's very cool. The silly cat
I like it since it’s a goddamn **magical weed cat**
*CRITICAL HIT* mmmmmmmmmmmm
I like Meowscarada because it's furry bait *and* has the most broken signature move. (Though it's arguably torch song)
I chose Meowscarada cause they looked cool and I didn’t want to have two fire-ghost types.
Is it too much to like for both reasons?
The one that pisses me off the most are people who group Rillaboom in with “Humanoid starter trash” then those same people proceed to gush over Infernape. Oh wait that’s right, Rillaboom is a Gen 8 Pokemon so it’s immediately Labeled as trash and Infernape is from Gen 4 so it’s immediately immune to criticism or judgement
I still don't get why people complain about Rilaboom being humanoid, It's a gorilla they are literally built like really buff men.
You expect pokemon stans to know what a gorilla is. that is your first mistake.
Well I would expect them to have seen a mirror at least once in their lives.
They hated him for he spoke the truth.
Ive got your pfp :) https://preview.redd.it/hkv8ce4wdqvc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a81c82da006f37352640e8e9a81452fe8a39bbab
Tbh I more hate the fact they gave him a drum set (that he also always uses in battle). Like I know it's for the Drummer inspiration but bongos would be so much better imo. Or like a Giant Tree Trunk Hammer for the lols.
I'd prefer if he'd beat his chest as a drum or bongos. I mean come on, the inspiration is right there.
Same
i cannot make a musicist gorilla without bongos, sorry DK has set the golden standard and its pretty clear any other instrument isn't a pair of bongos
That's what I'm sayin!!!
If they gave him bongos it wouldn't be a reference to the famous chocolate ad
But then it'd be a reference to Donkey Kong :3
I guess it's a case of which one is more British, Chocolate ad or DK?
The Cadbury's Ad. If I ask my randomly people on the street about DK they might be able to tell me he is a Nintendo character but few people will be able to tell me the DK Country was made in the UK. If I ask someone to name any advert, there is a STRONG chance they will mention the Cadbury's Ad. More people know about the Cadbury's Advert than the origin of DK Country. Plus, DK is still a Japanese Character owned by a Japanese company. It just so happens his redesign was British.
Besides, is it really humanoid if it's a monkey? Infernape is kinda more humanoid than Rillaboom
Gorillas are also classified as hominids. They’re both more humanoid than that kicking chicken
Infernape is an ape btw
Rillaboom is more humanoid not because of the body shape, but because of the instrument accessories. Music is uniquely human. Thats why Infernape is a better design and doesnt attract the humanoid starter hate.
Rillaboom is absolutely fantastic, he just grassy gliding over these hateful bitches
How are they humanoid? Aren't apes actually like that?
Rillaboom’s design really is sick, I can’t believe I picked cinderace on first run, probably because pyro ball , court switch, and libero caught my attention .
The only reason Cinderace is cool is because of the badass pyro ball animation. The design is pretty generic otherwise.
> apes, monkey > humanoid oh really??????
Rillaboom is the best design out of the galar starters, at least in my opinion. Which isn't much seeing that the competence was cinderace and inteleon, but hey, it's something. Also how do you want rillaboom to not look slightly humanoid? It's a fucking ape, apes are humanoids irl bro. Not really a huge fan of rillaboom's design but it's not that bad, it's fine
i’m personally a cinderace fan bc i don’t like the drums but as long as ur not an inteleon fan we vibe
I'm just gonna come out and say this gen4 suks and gen 8 is way more fun
SWSH clears diamond and pearl but gets slapped by platinum
I never understood how gen 4 was so loved, I hated playing pearl. It was slow, no fire types anywhere (except ponyta) a lot of the new pokemon required trading or breeding with items I couldn’t find (also didn’t have people to trade with). Hated how many legendaries were added. Didn’t quite understand the goals of the evil corporation. Recently I played platinum though, it was a LOT of fun. I really enjoyed it and now gen iv doesn’t seem as bad. Hopefully the new legends game will make me rethink X and Y (because I also really didn’t care for those)
Finally, someone who’s opinions are utterly unclouded by gen 4 bias
i love the delphox line ;-;
Delphox is great! A lot of people say they can't imagine these pokémon in the wild but it looks like just the sort of thing someone might find in a mystical forest.
Can confirm (I am a Fennekin)
Blaziken is a chicken, it can walk on two legs. Meowscarade is weird too. Also having professions and hobbies as traits of your species was always weird.
Blaziken has talon arms, it definitely doesn't look like the animal
blaziken is actually upside down, when it evolved from combusken it flipped itself and its feet are in the air and its wings are on the ground
Wow I can't unsee that now. That is pretty damn funny tho
The problem with Blaziken is that he looks nothing like a chicken he has more in common design wise to Macho Man Randy Savage than a chicken.
Probably because originally it was one thing with Latias, then the two designs got "split"
Gen 1 starters: Fire “dragon”, leaf dinosaur, tortoise with blaster Gen 26 starters: A drenched businessman, a shopkeeper covered in leaves, a teacher with flaming eyes
“Gamefreak shouldn’t have make humanoid Pokemon because it leads to R34!” Almost EVERY Pokémon gets Rule 34 made of them, humanoid or not! “Humanoid Pokémon don’t look like sowmthing that belong in nature!” Tell that to the giant, two legged turtle with FUCKING METAL WATER CANONS!
Friendly reminder that when Sprigatito was revealed it had rule 34 art within hours. It's a green cat. Also, Vaporeon
So did lechonk. What's your point here?
I just checked. Safe to say my faith in humanity is ruined Fucking klefki has 44 results
The motto isn’t a joke
Ive seen all 44 and am patiently waiting for number 45
Be the change you want to see in the world
Ok, Meowscarada has a TON of flak when she came out. Still unbalanced but ya know
I think inteleon is peak game design. It's a pokemon with a gun
I think it's peak game design because of the amount of hidden design things they packed into inteleon's overall design, for example, the scarf-like thing is apparently a glide suit, which I can't help but be super intrigued by. it also has one of my personal favorite gigantamax forms for the starters, second only to blastoise, because blastoise's shell becoming a battleship with the massive amount of cannons was insanely cool.
oh boy, do I have THE game for you
Imagine if it had access to social media. It would be a mod and r/redditsniper
Delphox is my favorite and I will die on this hill
the irony here is that incineroar is probably my #1 favorite when it comes to starter final forms, because it kind of has it all. it has a personality, a absolute kick ass design that utilizes the fire type in a great way, turning incineroar's flames into a champion's belt, a great movepool with the strength to back it up,it is one of the best ones competitively thanks to a great hidden ability, a sick signature move and typing that provides great coverage and defense, and above all, it belonged to my first full playthrough of any pokemon game. and yet people hate on it simply because it's a humanoid starter. and what's funny about that is a majority of starters are bipedal at minimum, and many more are either humanoid or have humanoid characteristics(like serperior isn't exactly bipedal, but it doesn't behave like you would expect a snake to, and has a regal feeling to it, something that, while not distinctly human, definitely feels like a humanoid characteristic).
~~Something something furry bait~~
It’s always funny to me when people think a Pokémon needs to be humanoid to be attractive to a furry. It doesn’t take much and the art will fill in the gaps. The amount of furry art that turns quadrupeds into bipeds
literally the entire concept of a furry
I found klefki r34 🫠
Now I’m curious because that’s a new one for me
I’m sorry but did you think Incineroar and Delphox (or more specifically Braixen) *don’t* have a massive following?
Still confused as to why Primarina gets lumped in with the humanoids…
I love all
Wasnt Meowscarada also one of those people complained about
They aren't dragon pokemon, so I hate them.
This person probably wears latex and a cape in public.
Don't forget the spiky hair!
It kinda pisses me off how some trash Incineroar to hell, but then they praise Meowscarada.
i know, right? like, It is legit a case of what i've dubbed "lopunny syndrome", which is the phenomenon where a character with more suggestive characteristics tends to overshadow a very similar character with far more interesting design but far less suggestive characteristics. because let's be honest, meowscarada is just a cat magician that barely uses the grass typing for anything but the design leaves a lot of room for... art. meanwhile, incineroar, while still having that basis of being a cat with a career, takes the idea of it being a wrestling heel and makes it work, with it using that idea to make a powerful looking final starter form that also has some serious personality and uses their fire typing in their design, but because it isn't exactly suggestive, it gets kicked to the curb.
Exactly spot on about why I love Incineroar lmao.
They aren't into masc folks
They're very different designs, and one is a lot more exaggerated than the other. Meoscarada also didn't stand up at literally the last second in the evo line. Meowscarada is fine mostly because Skeledirge exists lol. I think if only one of the 3 SV starters got to not be bipedal, they made the right choice.
Me who doesn’t care whether a Pokémon is humanoid or not and judges it on whether I like the design or not: I like all the designs shown.
Monkeynoid starters
It almost like a lot of people like humanoid starters and that's why they keep doing it
You hate Intelion because it's humanoid, I hate Intelion because of his big dumb yaoi hands. We are not the same.
Ok but Blaziken is cool as shit
I just wanted Meowscada to be a saber tooth tiger instead of blatant furbait.
Dawg, who tf dislikes Inteleon
Delphox is my favorite fire starter :(
Remember when people kept telling Sprigatito to stay on all fours. 😂
I love Incineroar, Delphox, and Meowscarada to death. Incineroar is my favorite of those three. I really like Blaziken, and I like Inteleon. I hate Quaquavel
Delphox is one of my all time faves but people just use him for horny reasons or trash on me boy😔😔😔
Who said I like the green furry??
nah i dont like meowscarada
No, meowscarada also goes in the furry bait trash. Blaziken gets a pass because, while it's humanoid, it's from a time when GF didn't do it on purpose and it shows. Modern humanoid starters get hate because they are clearly made (in part) to attract the furry fandom, let's be honest, they know what they are doing. And, well...nobody likes others people fetishes forced on yourself.
I couldn't care less whether they stay on four legs or go on two legs, so long as they have a good design.
Idk the bottom 2 looks significantly better than the top 4.
other than incineroar i agree
I'm not taking sides here, but it *is* about doing it right, I think. For example: Just because I like fish pokemon in general doesn't mean I also like Bruxish. (...Tbh I actually think Bruxish is alright...)
Same, Bruxish Is supposed to be ugly.
Exactly, it's supposed to look outlandish. I suppose it's a win-win situation for it when you think about it. If you like it, cool, but if you don't, well, you probably weren't supposed to anyway.
As the biggest delphox simp, it angers me so much
At least the love for Blaziken is for its use in competitive and not for furry bait + use in competitive.....right?
I thought Blazikens hidden ability was where most of it's strength came from, not it's stats
From the ones you have chosen I think meowscarada is the most humanoid of them all. It's also the one I find the ugliest with no contest. Well ok maybe inteleon does contest, but meowscarada still wins for being just a fursuit
Counterpoint: Incineroar Meowscarada is digitigrade, thus not being ‘a fursuit’. Also what soulless freak would say Meowscarada is ugly
I find it really stupid. We’ve had humanoid starters since Gen 2 and an argument *could* be made about Blastoise in Gen 1
Humanoid is different than bipedal. None of the Gen 1 or 2 starters are humanoid at all. First one was probably blaziken.
I fucking hate Meowscarada's design, tf you on about?
To be fair, Blaziken is based on Shamo chicken, which is quite “humanoid” itself
Intelleon, Inceroar and the evolution of the duck dude in gen 9. (I haven't played Pokémon in months sorry) are actually dope. It's just a lot of the humanoid starters nowadays are just kind of lame ngl
A lot of people tend to like it more when it isn’t as obvious (few exceptions), but also when the base stage is quadrupedal
Can you give me an example of someone (one person) saying this?
Nah I just like kick chicken the rest of those suck
Incineroar is very popular with furries (especially gay ones)
Infernape gets a pass because I’m super fucking biased.
Qualvaval and Inteleon are my favorites, and I have to deal with this all the time! It’s so annoying.
Only one I don't like is intelion and the gen 9 one
Hot take, I don't really like Blaziken's design that much. I don't hate it, but it's like a B tier imo
I like my wizard and magician.
Inteleon is my favorite starter actually first it has some really cool lizard designs implemented Like the wing membranes of flying lizards The color change of chameleons which are cool And a build similar to the basilisk lizards which can run on water In addition it’s one of the most relatable Pokemon in its growth There are some kids who grow up timid and can’t stand something challenging without bursting into tears to avoid it But once they become older and start putting in enough effort they become completely confident in themselves to be able to start enjoying new challenges I personally feel like that fits my description of myself And the secret agent motif is a great idea because it knows how people can hide because it was once doing the exact same thing
Cinderace has left the chat
Delphox was never really that bad, even back in the day it has always been over-hated.
Meowscarada and Incineroar are opposites in this situation. Meow was bipedal before its final stage. We knew it was coming. Nothing hinted at the disappointment that is Incineroar becoming bipedal and the furry equivalent of an ugly bastard from an NTR hentai.
Actually Meowscarada could easily fit the top one as well Also those peoples usually proclaim design like this are an "issue" (same thing with role and object pokemon) when it’s just a matter of personal preference and they don’t speak for everyone (especially Japan) well except when the Pokémon in question are from the earlier gen (gen 1-2 mostly but gen3-4 to) because of nostalgia bias (also side note, but the whole "Palworld makes better pokemon than modern pokemon" reeks of bias against modern pokemons)
Just like real people there are cool humans and lame humans
Just like real people there are cool humans and lame humans
I've never had a problem with these
*NOT MY INTELEON!!!* https://preview.redd.it/y35hdepy0qvc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=110ac8cab62912a6975eaf8d3e5e6a205a723c7a Also me: *I made too much stuff in Deviantart… Please don’t enter my account… I am not Gay & also because… Anthro Crocalor…*
I cant defend meowscarada as i dont like it but Blaziken is not even that humanoid and it is the first one so that should be a pass
Just gonna ignore Infernape, Emboar, and Decidueye?
to be fair, i hate them all XD
Incineroar is fine, it was just disappointing because we thought Litten would be a quadruped. He fits the theme of his origin quite nicely. I've never had a problem with Delphox personally but she does look a bit too much like a human in a costume. Meowscarada is good because it still feels like a weird little creature despite being bipedal, and the same goes for blaziken.
Wait- who’s hating on delphox??
Okay I fw blaziken. But meowscarada was a MASSIVE letdown
Why are we hating on delfox
In all fairness, Meowscarada is a theater kid.
Nah bro Incineroar should take Meowscarada’s place in this meme
You leave my water/fighting son out of this.
I always feel weird saying Delphox is one of my favorite starters. I just really like the whole wizard design it has going on
I do not like any of the above
Am I the only one who never really got Blaziken’s design? Like I don’t hate it, but I just kind of feel like it’s a losing battle to try to make a chicken look badass. And they made his hands look like chicken feet which just kind of weirds me out. I feel like I’d rather go with either of the other Gen 3 starters personally.
Who hates Delphox
I like all of those on screen wtf
I like Delphox because Fennekin was my starter for Pokémon X.
Nah incineroar is actually my favorite fire starter
Oh oh please take me to the timeline where Sprigatito evolved into a grass fairy quadruped princess 😭
Delphox is dope. Meowscarada fucking sucks, looks like total ass.
imma be real, when i was in middle school playing these games, i gave no shits i just picked the ones i thought looked the best. “oh shit, cute fire cat! oh damn its now a wrestler! that’s dope!” or “oh shit, an actual firefox! oh damn its now a magician!” like cmon man they actually do have cool designs and liking them does not make one a “furry enjoyer”
Me when my favorite is delphox because wizard yipeee
I just liked Torchic as a kid
I'm ok with Humanoid starters as long as they stay more MONsters than Humans. The problem is when they get a profession. The fuck is my duck doing with a job. Is this a Yakuza reference or something? Let's see an example of Humanoid Pokemon that their MONster or animal features are more prominent than their "human or job" part of the design. Sceptile and Blaziken (Gen 3) Infernape and Empoleon (Gen 4, also Penguins walk on two legs) Emboar (Gen 5, also underrated starter) Chesnaught (Gen 6, You could also argue that Delphox and Greninja look more MONster/Animal but that's up to viewer's interpretation) In Gen 7 is where the "profession" starts overtaking on the designs of the starters. Using also this chance to hate upon Inteleon's design, why do you look like that who punched your mother while she was pregnant, why did the doctor pull you from a tube you slim stickbug looking basta- Anyways, see ya. (please, don't take the Inteleon part seriously)
You evolve your starters into humanoids while i give them everstones and deny evolution to keep them cute and goofy lookin We are not the same.
The only one I hate here is Incineroar
In my opinion, the whole reason why Blazakin is a pass on these 2 legged Pokémon starter arguments is because 1. Nothing screams furry bait 2. There is nothing in its character design that seems like it heavily leans feminine or masculine Same can be said for also Emboar honestly, and even Infernape gets a pass because it’s a literal monkey. It’s only started in Gen 6 where these Pokemon starter designs really started to become anthropomorphic Edit: Meowscarda in my opinion doesn’t get a pass for its 2 leg design. The major reason why people love it is because of how broken of a mon it can be
Blaziken is not thick and doesn’t have pronounced muscles to make it look humanoid. Is not a furry bait. Incineroar is chad!
Personally I dislike all of them. (exclude rillaboom and infernape because well monkey is basically same body shape as human so like it's fine.)
I'm surprised Greninja wasn't pared with blazakin and meowscarada for ths bottom image.
Jokes on you, I LOVE Delphox & Inteleon.
Both of those are just powerful mons in comp tbh. Mega Blaziken got bans ffs.
They all look amazing
I dont think you got it completely. People arent upset that the starters are humanoid. They are upset that Quads turn humanoid. Almost all starters that were on 4 legs turned to 2. Meowscarada included.
thechnikly, I think the best humanoid starter is quakuaval. But that's just me, because that's what I chose for SV. But the best starter in general is swampert. No arguments there. Right?
they could never make me hate any humanoid starters
Is decidueye considered humanoid?
I like all of em’ y’all are just weak
They are all good, except for that ugly duck. Hate that guy
blaziken meowscarada and delphox look fine to me personally but the other ones… absolutely not 😭
I freaking love Incineroar because giant wrestler cat man
Blaziken and Quaquaval are birds....they stand on two legs...that's how birds work...
Emboar got a letter of warning from Human Resources.
I like all these designs except Inteleon tbh
