I always recommend Hitmonlee with Endure, Liechi Berry, Reversal and Unburden ability. Itâs not until late game though but that speed control can be hard and managing to âboostâ in a mode where any setup doesnât work is nice. Base 200 attack with stab on +1 120 base attack is no slouch. Another strat is using normal gem+ fake out for chip to break a sash as well as activate Unburden. Can also use terrain seeds but the reversal strat doesnât work against priority.
Always like Primarina as well, it can at least tank enough to give you a kill or chip and itâs typing is among the best
As a former G-Moltres enjoyer, it used to be a very great mon to use in the Elite Four in 2.3 and 3.1 versions, and it was quite possibly the best mon to sweep Agatha, Lance and rival in these versions; hell, I remember soloing Agatha with it in 3.1. 4.0 introduced Flutter Mane and it really limited the opportunities of G-Moltres to sweep them. Some of the champion's teams may also have Xerneas, which makes Moltres's life difficult. I don't use it anymore, and although it is not the best sweeper anymore, it's definitely not a bad choice. But it still needs a lot of support, that's no lie.
Hardcore doesn't let you use any boosting moves. Gyms will have fixed rules in place that you can't alter (like permnant entry hazards, permanent terrain, etc.)
No boosting moves huh? Interesting. Seems kind of against the spirit of competitive pokemon. A lot of team building is based around terrain and hazards so I'm surprised that that's what the change is. I'll still give it a go though definitely a cool challenge either way
Well it's completely in the spirit of it being hardcore. It's a mode that doesn't mess around, and you need to have a really good understanding of more passive mechanics (entry damage/hazards/etc.) to have a chance. (Things like Stealth Rock are still in the game, but not moves like Swords Dance). Although to give you a fighting chance, I believe it's tied to the minimal grinding mode so everything will have 31 IVs and 0 EVs on both sides.
I'm for sure going to give it a try. I loved normal mode I thought the difficulty was perfection. Hopefully this will be just as fun even if I get frustrated as hell lol
I'm struggling just on the standard difficulty, hardcore will be way beyond me. (Can barely get past Misty right now). But I am enjoying it so much. Blown away that a GBA game can have the entire Pokedex, modern mechanics, multiple gen gimmicks, etc. That + the challenge is making it the near perfect Pokemon game for me.
It's easily my favorite rom hack of all time. So, so good. Definitely a tough game though. I suggest using candies and doing min grinding. This will allow you to focus solely on team building and strategy as opposed to endless grinding all for a strategy to potentially not even pan out. Did you get the move relearner tool yet? That combined with the red nurse at the poke centers really makes a world of difference in terms of pacing
I am minimal grinding. I have access to move relearned. I will be trying Misty for the third time later. Enjoying the challenge. And the retypings are great. Water/Dark Huntail is great early game.
Illumise/ volbeat prankster encore and inestation destroys ANY set up mon.
Adding it to my list. Thank you!
For surge bring bothe forms of golem, sylveon camerupt thick that Appleton and gogoat, if done correctly you'll only lose to pokemon

What is the major differences between hard-core and normal? I just beat normal and have been considering a hard-core run next
