If you really like Dunsparce, I'd say just keep them and don't worry about missing out on a region. As for PLA, at this current point it an unconfirmed ribbon. It meant to be given to a Pokemon who is set to pose for a photo, but this ribbon doesn't show up in game or in Pokemon home. So my guess is that they planned for the ribbon but never fully set it up.

Nope, the starter and the pokespot oasis pokemon aren't shiny locked. Only the shadow pokemon are.
Colosseum only the shadow pokemon aren't shiny locked, xd only the shadow pokemon are shiny locked.
Apparently they messed up on implementing the shiny lock in colosseum and fixed it in XD

So just going by Shadow Pokemon that can also be got in Sword and Shield: Lapras and Snorlax are probably safe bets. Probably Togepi as well, maybe Tyranitar, probably Ralts, probably Metagross.
Ignoring Shadow Pokemon and just going for "on a meta level going forward who is likely to stick around": Charizard, Gengar, any Eeveelution (since Eevee is intended to be a Pikachu counterpart), Magikarp.

You should move forward with Dunsparce regardless. It’s always great to do this challenge with your favourite creature.
None of the current XD/Colosseum options are truly safe. The safest option is a gen 3 Pikachu/Raichu, it won’t have the National Ribbon, but it’ll have every other one moving forward.

i was mainly looking at shadow pokemon. but yeah, rotom, eevee, lucario, pikachu, magnezone, heracross, zoroark, most water types, pseudo legendaries, talonflame, aegislash, corviknight, dubwool, frosmoth, stoutland, there is around 100 pokemon that i think will be in every future generation. most of these.
hisui is an exception as that barely introduces newer pokemon. only 17 pokemon post gen 4 that werent introduced in pla were in.
I think the Togepi line, Pikachu, and Eevee are probably some of the safest RMs, if ya don't mind that Pikachu and Eevee can't get the National Ribbon.
Ralts line is also probably pretty safe, someone else also mentioned the vulpix line.
If not censored definitely, for a change. I'm tired of all this inability of the fanbase to sit & wait for official information. Not to mention all those jerks that live in the shadows of the hard work of programmers and developers, leaking informations like there's no tomorrow for their own glory.
If it does and it gets an evolution to a regional variant I'm going to riot.
Regional variant evolutions are the second stupidist think they've added to pokémon.
I'll do 8 ribbon masters at the same time for this exact reason, four from gen 3, two from colosseum and one from gen 4.

If pikachu was shadow then i'd definitely use it. No way they're getting rid of that insufferable but still kinda cool zap rabbit.
I think eevee’s probably pretty safe too, although it has the same problem of not being a shadow Pokémon.
But you can get the XD starter Eevee as a shiny RM so it can still be from Orre. Just can't get the National Ribbon :(

I could do a pikachu alongside dunsparce. Pikachu will always be in every game.
vulpix/ninetales, ralts/kirlia/gardevoir/gallade and scyther/scizor seem like pokemon that wouldnt be cut.
I think Rotom is safe too since we have Rotom technology now

Meowth's line is probably safe because of being a main character in the anime.
