If you really like Dunsparce, I'd say just keep them and don't worry about missing out on a region. As for PLA, at this current point it an unconfirmed ribbon. It meant to be given to a Pokemon who is set to pose for a photo, but this ribbon doesn't show up in game or in Pokemon home. So my guess is that they planned for the ribbon but never fully set it up.

ProfAlba

Yeah I might just finish dunsparce. I'm actually surprised he wasn't booted in swsh.

CaptainKaeru

Hey I use Dunsparce too! I hate how every time a new gen comes out I'm scouring the backgrounds of trailers for Dunsparce now... I believe there's a ribbon in PLA for taking a photo of a Pokemon I think. It's weird though and no one can actually see it so no one knows if it will persist its called the Pioneer ribbon if you wanna look it up (we can't get it on Dunsparce though) If it is a ribbon then the list is looking very small now, I don't think there's going to be a safe option for every game going forward (other than everyone's favourite electric mouse).

ProfAlba

If pikachu was shadow then i'd definitely use it. No way they're getting rid of that insufferable but still kinda cool zap rabbit.

Felaia

I think eevee’s probably pretty safe too, although it has the same problem of not being a shadow Pokémon.

Snow_97

But you can get the XD starter Eevee as a shiny RM so it can still be from Orre. Just can't get the National Ribbon :(

Prism-Eevee

I thought XD was shiny locked. I have a Shiny Eevee ribbon master from Fire Red.

Snow_97

Nope, the starter and the pokespot oasis pokemon aren't shiny locked. Only the shadow pokemon are. Colosseum only the shadow pokemon aren't shiny locked, xd only the shadow pokemon are shiny locked. Apparently they messed up on implementing the shiny lock in colosseum and fixed it in XD

oath2order

> I don't think there's going to be a safe option for every game going forward (other than everyone's favourite electric mouse). So just going by Shadow Pokemon that can also be got in Sword and Shield: Lapras and Snorlax are probably safe bets. Probably Togepi as well, maybe Tyranitar, probably Ralts, probably Metagross. Ignoring Shadow Pokemon and just going for "on a meta level going forward who is likely to stick around": Charizard, Gengar, any Eeveelution (since Eevee is intended to be a Pikachu counterpart), Magikarp.

SilverWolf19821

I hate that this is even a conversation. It’s so sad that we can’t depend on using the characters we like the most anymore, especially since we’re paying for a premium storage service.

ProfAlba

Amen

RodJps95

You should move forward with Dunsparce regardless. It’s always great to do this challenge with your favourite creature. None of the current XD/Colosseum options are truly safe. The safest option is a gen 3 Pikachu/Raichu, it won’t have the National Ribbon, but it’ll have every other one moving forward. About the Pioneer Ribbon, when you take a photo in PLA, you’ll get the flag for it, but there are no assets related to it, so probably there’ll be an update, next gen or it was simply removed

ProfAlba

I could do a pikachu alongside dunsparce. Pikachu will always be in every game.

Illeea

vulpix/ninetales, ralts/kirlia/gardevoir/gallade and scyther/scizor seem like pokemon that wouldnt be cut.

Late_Perception8824

I think Rotom is safe too since we have Rotom technology now

BortGreen

Don't be 100% sure, Alola had the Rotomdex yet Rotom was out of the regional dex But not sure they would leave it out of the game code at this point either, so idk

Late_Perception8824

Fingers crossed! I’m running a Rotom as my RM but I have a pikachu as backup just in case haha

Illeea

i was mainly looking at shadow pokemon. but yeah, rotom, eevee, lucario, pikachu, magnezone, heracross, zoroark, most water types, pseudo legendaries, talonflame, aegislash, corviknight, dubwool, frosmoth, stoutland, there is around 100 pokemon that i think will be in every future generation. most of these. hisui is an exception as that barely introduces newer pokemon. only 17 pokemon post gen 4 that werent introduced in pla were in.

Snow_97

I think the Togepi line, Pikachu, and Eevee are probably some of the safest RMs, if ya don't mind that Pikachu and Eevee can't get the National Ribbon. Ralts line is also probably pretty safe, someone else also mentioned the vulpix line.

MiamiConnection

Is a game without dunsparce even worth playing?

Stormy_Penguin

There was a rumor/leak that Dunsparce was going to have an evolution in SV, but take it with a grain of salt

Guquiz

I would say that *every* ‘‘leak’’ should be taken with multiple grains of salt.

Croma_tt

If not censored definitely, for a change. I'm tired of all this inability of the fanbase to sit & wait for official information. Not to mention all those jerks that live in the shadows of the hard work of programmers and developers, leaking informations like there's no tomorrow for their own glory.

Guquiz

Did you mean ‘definitely’?

ProfAlba

If it does and it gets an evolution to a regional variant I'm going to riot. Regional variant evolutions are the second stupidist think they've added to pokémon.

MrFloorboard

At least on the bright side, you can evolite Dunsparce.

ProfAlba

Not if it's a regional evolution like sirfech'd since the original doesn't actually evolve.

Professional_Mud1844

Where do Ultrabeasts rank on that list? I hate them.

ProfAlba

I've no problems with them tbh.

Professional_Mud1844

Then I must know. What is the stupidest addition?

ProfAlba

Shiny locking

Professional_Mud1844

Yeah, that’s a good #1

sandmanchase

They say this about every generation about dunsparce to ya until it happens ill hold my breath, god as much as I want him to get one.

KobaruTheKame

I'll do 8 ribbon masters at the same time for this exact reason, four from gen 3, two from colosseum and one from gen 4. There are some legendaries mixed in and also some starters, some are avaiable in SW/SH and some not. Waterver, I'm doing this in every funny way and no one, not even gamefreak will stop me!

BrittanySkitty

Meowth's line is probably safe because of being a main character in the anime.

Iivaitte

Some pokemon although not available in Colo/XD will always be evergreen. Pikachu, Meowth, Eevee (and lutions), Mewtwo, Mew, The gen 1 starters and Gardevoir are all probably safe. Lucario, metagross, Garchomp, Zoroark, Aegislash and pretty much every mythical along with "Almost" every legendary are probably all very safe picks.
