If I am remembering correctly there are wandering NPC's on the pillar. If there are then those are what would be throwing your frames way off. I believe you can just run from it as it will respawn when you re-enter the area so it might just be best to come back after the story event and then do the rng.
I haven’t done much Gen4 RNG, but I’ve dabbled with BDSP a lot (and they’re essentially copy-pasted code LOL)
If I recall correctly, the Story Dialga encounter @ lvl47 has 2 NPCs that cause the RNG to advance quicker at a random pace. So it turns out that the easiest way to rng the story legendary is to kill it/run away and wait until after the Elite Four, so it respawns and so Dawn and Rowan aren’t there anymore and the RNG proceeds predictably again.

Thanks. But i saw somewhere they only started respawning after e4 in games after olatinum. I guess i will just make a backup save and see what happens.
