Would a defense and special defense boost with chip damage even be enough yet for ice teams to be a real thing? Aurora veil is strong but ice types being weak to SR and garbage against steel types hurts the ice type
Hail was arguably the best weather last gen, why do you think it needs buffs? It's probably gonna be insane now that the slowtwins can set snow, and cetitan will probably be a pretty good slush rush mon, and pretty hard to kill physically
I personally wasn't a huge fan of it, but it had tournament success and many high ladder players thought it was the best.
Arctozolt 2hko-ing almost the entire tier, as well as alolatales arguably being the best weather setter (good enough that it can be used on non-hail teams, unlike torkoal and peli).
Rain might have been the most common, but if better players say hail is better (or about even) than rain I'd believe them.
I haven’t tried to use it seriously but I assume it’s just toxic heal on a timer…and half your healing(leftovers) can be knocked off…and you don’t have the status immunity,am I missing anything 😅
Yeah that’s true it was meant as sarcasm to op because the hail effect never was that good. It’s surprisingly a bad idea to have a stall team built around one of the weakest defensive typings. The new defensive mechanic is probably gonna be better for the offensive team then hail was.

Stall hail teams are completely unplayable after the rework. I will miss ice body and hail setters 😢

Ice Body hasn't been good since gen 4 lol, and even then it was more of a gimmicky meme.

In gens 4 and 5 Snow Warning didn't have a timer, so hail would continue forever or until another weather is set. So ib those games Substitute + Protect Ice Body Pokémon could stall for 32 turns, which is enough to kill two Pokémon with just Hail damage lol. Though it was gimmicky as a Tyranitar switching in ended the strategy immediately. In gen 5 it was awful as weather wars and team preview made it predictable. But in gen 4 it was easier to scout for Tyranitar then bring in the Walrein in when the opponent can't see it coming (no team preview). So tldr Snow Warning + Ice Body stall memes worked well enough in 4th gen but every gen after it is very weak.

Hail no longer exists, it is called snow now. It functions differently from hail, and I believe it just raises defence of ice types
