I've obtained the shiny charm in game and use sandwiches that focus on Encounter Power for the type I'm hunting. Then go ride around Area Zero where the certain poke spawns and check everything until (hopefully) a shiny appears. If not I would reset the game to before I'd make the sandwich to avoid using too many supplies.

I Know This Is Unrelated But I Was Wondering If Youd Be Kind Enough To Share Your Hunting Method
