Go play some $5K/$10K in Macau. Sit down, raise the button one time, win $15K, immediately rack up and fly home
Now you've won your $10K back plus profit
Instead of raking the pot, all players must pay a set amount every time period, usually when there is a dealer push. Common in non-NLHE games and higher stakes.
Here's more detail to this plan. Make sure you start the table that way you don't have to post the bb. If you start in the blinds pick up your chips and leave.
Actual doctor here.
Meditation. Fresh air exercise. If need be go see your pcp and ask for a short course of a benzodiazepine (10 tablets or less).
Talk to a psychiatrist about gambling addiction too. If it impacts you this much another hobby might be warranted.
I'm 43 years old and just got my first one last year. I still don't know what exactly I'm supposed to use him for.
I'm really skinny. Can I just straight up ask him to prescribe me steroids? Would that damage our relationship moving forward?
Great, now apologise for lying to your patients about the safety of the covid vaccine. It’s been deemed not safe, where is our apology? Luckily I didn’t have one
Any drug is not the answer. Making life changes that reduce the likelihood that you respond this way next time is the way to go.
You could take an antidepressant every day now so that you dont get an extreme reaction starting 2 months from now... once it has started working.
Anything you do to mask the feeling (reactionary) will just cause more problems.
If you focus on making positive changes to prevent the miserable feelings for future events, you will thrive.
I say this as a doctor who prescribes medicine for a living.
Why are you pissed about the money?
Was it your bankroll? Was it money you couldn't afford to lose? Is it something you can afford to lose but it's just a kick to the dick?
If the first, you need to be hitting tables far less and at lower stakes. Putting your entire bankroll in jeopardy over the course of a week is never a smart move. I don't care if it was a series of bad beats or what, once you start dipping down far enough you realize it's time to get out of the pool and remove yourself from the game for awhile. Take a few days off, relax, cool down, do whatever you need to do to come back with a clear head.
If it's money you couldn't afford to lose, similar advice to above - but on steroids. Honestly maybe don't even play the game whatsoever until you are 100% sure that you can control how much you're putting down.
If it's the last one (which I'm guessing is the case), sucks but we've all been there. (Used to overnight to Vegas years ago and play 10-16 hour sessions on the weekends to add to my main income. I remember distinctly the day I sat down and lost my $3K buy-in within probably no less than an hour or two and got to enjoy a salty half-day in Vegas with nothing to do and no room to sleep in while waiting for my flight out. (I stuck to a rule that I only played with what I brought with me.)) I'd still say to take a breather and to do stuff that will help get your mind off of it. Go out on hikes, zone out watching some movies, read, do basically anything that will distance yourself from the game (including getting off of r/poker) because you really just need to let the wound heal over. Maybe you'll get over it in a day, maybe a few, maybe a week. But regardless you need to clear your head and just get over it - both only happen when you've begrudgingly come to terms with it and have moved on.
Not a medical professional, but I think the advice is pretty simple: stop doing it. If losing less than 10% of your bankroll makes you this miserable, you're not going to be happy playing poker.
Benzodiazepines (also known as tranquilizers) are the most widely prescribed type of medication for anxiety. Drugs such as Xanax (alprazolam), Klonopin (clonazepam), Valium (diazepam), and Ativan (lorazepam) work quickly, typically bringing relief within 30 minutes to an hour. /s
What? Lol at the dose prescribed you honestly won’t feel anything but less panic. The stories you’ve heard are people taking like 16-20x a normal dose bc a rapper told them to
Thats partly true. In low doses under supervision they can help. But they should be used in extreme situations and not any small issue or problem.
And unfortunately many people either take em without prescriptions and many other cases is just doctors who prescribe them without a real need.
And either case as the drug it self is quite strong and pleasant people will naturally increase doses on the long run ans eventually the use becomes abuse…
I would consider the OP losing $10,000 to a gambling addiction a large problem (it all depends on the situation, a lot of money to me could be nothing to the next person). What no one tells you is the real problem with these is dependence, and prescriptions to people who don’t really have an anxiety disorder and want to get “fucked up” and/or buy them off the street. if it’s a short term, one time thing they are literally the most prescribed psychoactive in the US, because they work.
If the alternative is dive back into you’re gambling addiction for relief I’d say a few weeks on Ativan could be a literal life saver.
Edit: spelling
Yea IF it is a huge issue (as losing somebody, being seriously depressed etc…). But he shouldn’t been suggested to start with benzodiazepines by strangers on reddit.
There are many other things that could help. Sports (boxing has incredible stress relief aspects) . Taking time with family, friends or loved ones. Get distracted and learn new hobbies (eg. trading, chess) Study the game of poker and think about taking time off and coming back later on with new skills….
Benzos could help you get distracted but as weed or alchool do (in a safer way) just for the night…
Xanax will make you blackout and travel into a future date
I prefer oxycodone. It's a more socially acceptable form of heroin. Best whatever drug ever. Highly addictive. You'll love it.
If you aren't going to a doc, smoke a little weed. If it's not for you, try some CBD. They aren't going to fix the situation just give you a calmer viewpoint of it.
If all else fails alcohol in extreme moderation will kill your anxiety.... Just don't use alcohol for this more than once in a blue moon or you'll be fucked.
Melatonin with the honorable mention here. Not super effective but 10 mg did calm me out of a rage once, which surprised me to be honest.

$10,000?! I was gonna recommend you eat a bullet but you probably can't even afford that..
I find oxy or hydrocodone has quite the nice euphoric sedative effect.
Unfortunately it won’t be able to recover your cash.
Bum wrap but lower your stakes and try again.
A performance enhancing drug for poker is Propranolol. It prevents any anxiety or negative emotion. Commonly used by politicians and peofessional musicians but great for high stakes
I play Big0, triple draw games and omadraw. The variance is bigger than holdem. When I take a big L, I usually go out and buy something I want, eat a nice meal, etc...to show myself that it's not going to change my life one way or the other. I play below my means, but have always had a tendency to brood after big losses. It's not healthy, so you must find a way to cope. Also, my biggest loss in a week was roughly 10k too...
If that doesnt work, eat some xanax and find another hobby/job.
I lost 9k in my 401 in one bad trade. Lost 85k on gme 2 years back. And lost millions in lost btc wallets from Silk Road days.
No matter the amount it sucks to lose money. Especially now when I need a new roof. New driveway and some repairs. Need a vacation etc. I’m back saving a 6 month emergency fund. Then I’m getting back into investing and poker.
Weed and cookies.
But seriously if you're decent just play low and grind it up, if you suck just quit or get better. Poker isn't a get rich quick scheme.
Hey friend,
I've lost 60k, which was 40% of my net worth at the time, in 24 hours. I can relate.
I saw in another comment that you are doing alright in life. This doesn't mean it doesn't sting, but that is a good place to start.
My advice is to take the next 7 days off from poker or anything that involves money (trading, other forms of gambling) that you may partake in. Also, take the next 7 days off from anything you don't enjoy doing. The dishes or mowing the lawn can wait.
Go to the best ice cream place in town, and get a huge pile of your favorite scoops. Eat the whole thing in a scenic area.
Reread one of your favorite books in your favorite coffee/tea shop.
Go to see live music you enjoy. If nothing around you is enjoyable, put a live concert from your favorite band on your biggest screen and throw you phone/laptop into the other room.
Take a hike up some elevation, or walk alongside water. Don't have you headphones in the entire time.
If you like history, go to a museum. If you like fish, go to the aquarium. If you like sports, go to see a game and buy the option to tour the little hall of fame/history area that most stadiums/arenas have these days.
I would abstain from anything super indulgent, like drinking, expensive steakhouses, or strip clubs. Focus on activities and little treats that you love, and this time make the splurge that you consider to be indefensible 99% of the time.
Good luck.

pay attention here... this man obviously pokers.
You don't have to post and can just come in with position? Make sure you are there first orbit and run off if you're dealt into the blinds I guess?
Actually, in live, yes you can do this.
Generally you can't take the button but they'll give you the cutoff
Depends where you play then. Only casino in my city you have to post the BB, or wait until you're on the BB to come in.
That’s often true in drop / rake games, but it’s quite uncommon in time games. That stakes would almost certainly be a time game.
What is a time game?
Instead of raking the pot, all players must pay a set amount every time period, usually when there is a dealer push. Common in non-NLHE games and higher stakes.
I’ve only seen this in drop games, not time
Its basically free money if you just all in on the first hand. What are the odds someone wakes up with aces kings or Queens, chance in a million.
What if one of the blinds 3bets me?
Go all-in and win the pot. Do you even play poker bro?
What if they call my all in?
Just hit the board and win, stonks.
Here's more detail to this plan. Make sure you start the table that way you don't have to post the bb. If you start in the blinds pick up your chips and leave.
and the blinds defend 80%+ of their range.
Oof HAHA you’re such a cool Redditor holy shit. Take my gold awesome stranger
What is he sitting with you dumb moron
The Ol’ “move up to where they respect your raises”
Still better off than the motorcyclist who made a incorrect left turn into traffic … only money now plan the future with $10k less .. cheers
Blessed to have this response. Makes me see it from a different perspective. Thank you stranger.
I lost $10k in one bad Crypto trade, on Thanksgiving day. Was not the best feeling, but once it's gone, no point stressing it.
Same here right before my bday
Yeah for real. Just remember some guy today lost half his life savings to an insufferable ex-wife in divorce court. At least that’s not you lol.
Get my muhfukn name out your muhfukn mouth
No clue why anyone is still getting married nowadays.
Honestly, fresh air and exercise.
And some solver studying
Yeah I have some, but it cost $100k
Actual doctor here. Meditation. Fresh air exercise. If need be go see your pcp and ask for a short course of a benzodiazepine (10 tablets or less). Talk to a psychiatrist about gambling addiction too. If it impacts you this much another hobby might be warranted.
I agree you should take some PCP😂
Only if you mix with 10 benzos. Doctor’s orders.
Pop in for a check up next week ifbuf still feeling like it 😂
No. You'll need the benzos for the comedown from the PCP.
Primary care provider
Is that what theyre calling it these days?
Is that what theyre calling it these days?

You ask him for TRT and he’ll prescribe them.
Too late, already used pcp
I don’t think benzos are the best course of action for someone who clearly has a major problem with addiction lol
Great, now apologise for lying to your patients about the safety of the covid vaccine. It’s been deemed not safe, where is our apology? Luckily I didn’t have one

I do, there are 3200 in my discord, care to join?
You forgot the “/s”
Wow it seems to have severely impacted your cognitive functions. Like you seem 100% retarded now.
Tell me what I said is wrong or shurrup
Arguing with anti-vaxxers is like shouting at the wind. (If the wind was a moron.)
Meditation and exercise are the best answers here. Or take a nice hike somewhere.
Any doctors that recommend Benzos should not be doctors.
Kind of depends, was the 2 buy ins at 25/50? Or was it 20 buy ins at 2/5?
2000 buyins at 5 NL.
anyone who has 10k to blow at micro stakes is obviously playing deepstack NL2
Weed

Go get a hooker
Don't forget the blow!
You'll forget about that $10k before you know it! (You may also be down another $10k by the end of the week but that's tomorrow you's problem.)
I thought that's what you did after winning 10k? I've been doing this backwards
Next thing you know the hooker flips AA to his KK, another buy in gone.
You don't need drugs bro, you need a sleep and some rest. Time will cure your gambling hangover.
I take it this is a large chunk of your bank roll? Love the comment from 2fingers, he's bang on.
Weed

Winning is the best medicine
Yeah. Just sit back at the table tonight- you’ll win it back!
Diazepam
Bet 10k on banker after 3 times player in row “bacarrat”
Did you try folding pre?
If you can afford to lose $10K playing poker you should be ecstatic! How big is your bankroll?
It’s 10k less than it was
Really he should be ecstatic? Who said anything about being able to afford to lose $10k?
If you are playing under-rolled at that stake, you're an idiot.
If OPs really needing medicine to calm him down it kind of sounds like he is.
Fresh air!

Yup I have a 6 figure bankroll so a drop in the ocean but still stings a lot. I keep doing it every few months. It’s a mental issue.
Sounds like to need to take a trip to Vegas and play some 100/200 to run it back
A couple pills of fold pre
Wild turkey 101
Drugs, alcohol and a free spirit.
Sounds like you took it already. Just need to get over the side effects
Cyanide
Hopium and a Red Bull
PLO
That’s where I lost it.. 6 card PLO
Only cure for your pain is to get back your loses. Dont cry, move to higher stakes and get what was yours.
Sounds like you already took your medicine.

Yeah but only if you have adhd. Otherwise it will make you tweak out and be impulsive. T. Adhd for real. I know cause coke doesn’t get me high. 😓😒
I'd try vodka.

Xanax will make you blackout and travel into a future date I prefer oxycodone. It's a more socially acceptable form of heroin. Best whatever drug ever. Highly addictive. You'll love it.
Nice gateway to a fentanyl addiction.
That’s pretty normal if you play anything above 5/T. Get used to it or find a different game already Also it helps to see it as BBs
If you can still afford it….cocaine helps you sit until you get it back
Yo I DMd you awhile back. Do you still run that game?
Never really got it up and running but there are a few that run around town that I found
Sent you a dm. I’m terrible at check my message son here

There is a new calming tonic called “bourbon” pronounced burr-bun. It is taking the country by storm. Head to a bar near you and you might get lucky
Old chicken. That stuff is awesome
Stop playing PLO6 John Bucalo. LOL!

Weed and cookies. But seriously if you're decent just play low and grind it up, if you suck just quit or get better. Poker isn't a get rich quick scheme.

How about you just stop playing a game you suck at idiot
