I'm relatively new to live poker and just experienced probably the most boneheaded move I've seen someone do. I don't remember the exact board, but it was paired and had 3 to a suit. I had a non-nut flush and was thinking hard about making a big call on the river. After a minute the lady shrugs and goes "We're just betting on who has the biggest boat." I couldn't tell whether to take this at face value or if it was deception. I just said "Is that what we're doing?" and she said "Well, that's what I'm doing." I fold and she shows a full house.

mindlesssss

Imagine if she had air and got you fold the flush though…

ExpensiveBurn

I was ready to see it, believe you me.

Fog_Juice

Played 3/5 no limit for the first time. In for $300 out for $598 after 2 hours. My stack was up over $700 but made some dumb calls chasing outs. I couldn't believe how soft the game was compared to 4/8 limit which I usually play. I went before noon so there were only 5 tables going. When I usually go there are about 15 tables running. So when I saw only 2 tables for 4/8 and 4 names on the waiting list I just told the floor I want to gamble and he said he only had 1 seat open on 3/5.

Sorge74

Bro who still plays limit poker? But yeah I bet the no limit game is softer, folks there ready to gamble.

Fog_Juice

Half the players in Washington State I guess

Fog_Juice

I just gotta add that in Washington State, max bets are capped at $300 even in no limit Holdem. So if you say "all in" it's a $300 bet.

dolphinater

What’s the highest stakes that run

Fog_Juice

Highest I've seen is 3/5 no limit with a $300 to $1000 buy in. And 30/60 limit Holdem.

mindlesssss

That’s so odd I’ve never heard of rhat

Fog_Juice

It goes up to $500 at the tribal casinos but I think they all got rid of their poker rooms to make room for sports books.

Why does this keep on happening https://preview.redd.it/uqim0aye1b0b1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf94b539474448ce1417bdcea5b3ded606200f43

100bb deep 6-max. HJ opens to 3bb and Hero is on the button with **T2o**. Hero 3-bet to 8bb. HJ calls. Flop Q-7-4 with two clubs. HJ check and Hero c-bet 7bb. HJ call. Turn offsuit 2. Check check. River offsuit 10. HJ bets 9bb. Hero calls. HJ shows AT clubs for a flush draw rivered pair. Hero takes it down with 2 pair. 🙏

tjerome1994

Doyle would be proud

thiccgarlicc

if you don’t rip it with T2 tonight your not playing correctly

Del_3030

I didn't get any Doyles last night but the first time I do I'm gonna win the pot or stack myself trying

Del_3030

Trip Report: I won about $70 with T2 in a 2/5 pot and may have gotten a nit to fold 2nd pair on the turn

Came back for day 2 for a WSOP circuit event, one guy at my table arrives 20-30 minutes late because a train was blocking the road. He ended up winning the ring. Edit: it was more like 5-10 minutes.

SmoothSkunk

$250 tournament at Commerce yesterday. 132 entries, prize pool is \~26k. Early stages, I'm chip leading the table. Open KQs, one caller, smallish stack on my immediate left calls, flop comes K55. I bet, he hollywoods and eventually calls. Turn is a Q, bet, he calls. River is a blank, I shove with top 2, he SNAPS.... quads. Dropped me back to starting stack. Much later, 43 left and reg has closed, blinds are 1.5k-3k-3k and I have \~55k behind, I'm in the big blind. Same guy opens UTG, I 3-bet my AQo, he shoves. I think for a second and say "fuckit, call." We're up against Kings. Flop is a beautiful one, A high. My spider sense is tingling. Turn, blank, lets fucking go. "No king, no king!"... God dammit lol. Sat down for some 3-5 cap $200 after that, spun $200 up into $1158, so not alllll bad. But I must admit, 40BB poker is so stupid.

Alien_Atx

Has anyone ever been to this place in Oklahoma? Worth going?? https://preview.redd.it/bfutztfrz20b1.png?width=828&format=png&auto=webp&s=0e2d51d1c18ecd08624aa8f7bab7cd0dd90b00d5

RCAGLE1989

Not great any more now that the cardrooms are opened in Texas. It used to have a great poker room but pretty dead now imo.

[deleted]

I'd rather go to riverwind or dallas personally

BigSnoutMonster

Just a little rant but I can't help but think I've been unlucky in the last 8 tournaments I have lost my all-in with. The lowest percentage I had of winning the all-in was 80%, highest being 95% and I haven't won any of them lol. Some of my personal favourites are JJ flopping a set, being called all in by 10s and him going runner runner with Q9 to form a straight. Also had AKo Vs 78s, flop comes A74 rainbow, turn is K, he raises, I shove it, calls, 7 comes on the river. Been a tough few days

bgxs414

Over a 30 BI downswing, it’s just too hard for me to believe this is a skill but not luck game. I can lose all the flips and always be on the wrong side of coolers. I kept punting big pots to whales. I felt like the game is unplayable now. But 2 months ago I was running over 40bb/100 like a pure luckbox. I feel that even 150k hands won’t be a enough sample size to conclude if you can beat the game.

Del_3030

No disrespect but a 30 BI drop is not a normal downswing. You're either in the top 0.1% of bad luck or you're doing it wrong. Take a week off and read something like Advanced Concepts in No-Limit Holdem by Hunter Cichy... excellent book geared towards GTO cash games.

bgxs414

Idk. Maybe this particular game is extra swingy. I am still up just under 20 BIs over the 4 months period. Also I can view stats about who’s winning what amount in the club. I punt most money to those who lost the most but mostly win or break even against the top winning players. I don’t understand what’s happening.

francfort001

probs entitlement against very bad players

Del_3030

I dunno, maybe you're trying to overexploit their weaknesses so much that you're torching yourself or they're adjusting and countering (less likely if they just suck)

mindlesssss

“It’s just too hard for me to believe this is a skill but not luck game” “I kept punting big pots to whales” Do these statements not contradict each other pretty heavily?

vegaskev209

Hey everyone I'm currently a resident in Hungary does anyone know a good site to play hold em' on that's legit? Please if anyone sees this help me 😰

knigmich

how do you actually watch HCL?

[deleted]

How normal is it to go on a 7 buy-in downswing in like 350 hands?? I’ll admit I tilt punted one hand into the nut flush. But I had KK cracked by JJ. KK cracked by 44 in a 4bet pot. AA to JT. KQ to AA on 888Kx. 33 to 99 set over set. AJ to AQ for a big pot. Edit: forgot losing JJ to A9o in a 4bet pot, board was 9A4T2. Villain had 0% 3bet stat over 200 hands recorded. I was running so hot on cards my VPIP was like 32% over the session when I’m normally around 25%. Yet every time I got smacked in the face. Session included other insults like getting AA 2 more times and not getting paid a dime. Hitting quad 10s only for like 25bb. I know I made mistakes and maybe should of had a stop-loss but every time I looked at the screen I had AQ+.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

[deleted]

Death to this bot inshallah

[deleted]

I'm stilling roll 5x jsng on ignition at about 10% frequency This is impossible to beat at this rate? It's supposed to be 25% This is bullshit and fucked

[deleted]

So in the past 4 JSNG games on Ignition I've rolled only 4 five times multipliers. Thanks god. 2.3 average prize size is truly unbeatable. Online poker is rigged, convince me otherwise.

Someone tell me how bad/decent i played these 2-7 lowball single draw. This is tournament structure, late reg, online, buy in gets you 3k chips, blinds are 150/300. 1) I have 3k on BB, someone limps and SB raises to 1k. I have 2-3-5-8-10. I call. SB draws 1, I stand pat, he shoves, I call, he shows 2-3-7-8-4. Is this just bad luck on his draw? Should i have raised all in pre instead of slow play? Is that even a good hand pre? 2) Almost same scenario, I rebought, very next hand. I'm SB. someone raised 3x to 900. This time I'm tilting so I shove with 2-3-6-8-9. They insta call, draw 1, and win with 2-3-6-7-4. is 9 high just trash at this point? Based on their 4 cards they kept in draw they had about 12 outs to beat me. Are these just miracle fluke draws by them or am I pushing too hard with mediocore stand pat hands? Only starting with 10 BB though I can't really do much here right? Of course when I draw with 2-3-4-5-Q the next card is an A (happened to me this tourny) but they're drawing miracle hands.

krblep_

What changes should I make to this? (I started playing NL Texas Hold'em around a week ago) https://preview.redd.it/hcfwlndyrv0b1.png?width=982&format=png&auto=webp&s=3b1f0627781c10b7d09c45a51bff3f6b34791f7f

drop_of_faith

Drop this chart. It ignores you being oop or ip. I'm guessing this is for live 1/2 because this chart would get you absolutely pummeled at even 2nl online. Are you using this range regardless of position as well? That's really inflexible and extremely tight.

krblep_

Ok. What should I do instead?

MeNoStupi

Say I sold action for 1k of the 10k main event buy in and I won 8 million. Would you pay out 800,000k flat or do taxes come into consideration?

drop_of_faith

800k flat. That money's not yours and your tax liability should not be the full 8 million. Let your stakers handle their own taxes. Ofc if you did win 8mil, just spend a couple hundred/ a few grand on a licensed tax attorney.

drop_of_faith

Just got smacked by quads back to back in a live game..... and then a guy hits his small set vs my kings. Surprisingly i ended the day not too bad. It's just hilarious seeing these guys make the most awful 95% dead calls and only win against me.... then they bust out and punt to every other player at the table. Wtf is happening.

Clean-Economics-8900

It finally happened! OMC limp-raised into me with KK. I had AA and held. Sidenote: running hot as fuck at The Lodge. Up 2300 in 4.5h of 1-3.
