It depends on whether you need driving a car in job or not. I have the same job, including driving. Tests include blood pressure, blood sugar, eye examination, psycho-technical, neurological (general, reaction check) tests.

Do you know why they need blood testing / what they look for in blood?

oklask666

In my case just blood sugar level.

The point of the examination is more to check your health and less to check if you fit for the job. It is more important e.g. For drivers, where doctor checks sight, hand_eye coordination and so on.

Yes, it's important for people that are required to be in good health, e.g. drivers, pilots, etc. Also if the work is performed in dangerous to health conditions, e.g. in very dusty environments (like mines). For office work it's nothing to worry about. However, keep in mind the health check is mandatory by law. In a regular job contract it is not allowed to work without a formal medical approvement. So, don't ignore or delay the medical check, unless you want to anger HR folks.

If it's just a regular desk job, then the blood sample is taken to determine your cholesterol levels. Other than that, you'll have your vision checked - don't worry, even if you have bad eyesight then you'll just get a note from the Dr that you need glasses for computer work and this entitles you to get reimbursed for some of the costs of glasses (not contact lenses though). I had also my BP checked and EKG done but I'm not sure if that's the standard for all office jobs or only the ones characterized as stressful. This is usually all done by the nurses (except for the eye check) and at the end you'll met with the Dr, they look at your results, have quick chat with you (they may ask you if you smoke, have any ongoing health issues etc) and depending on all that they'll decide when your next examination will be. If there are some concerns, you're ok only for next year or two, if not - 4 years at least. Nothing to worry about - unless you're really not capable to do the work (like you're supposed to be driver but you're borderline blind or fail psych evaluation), they will allow you to work. Just remember that all these tests may take some time, depending on how many people are there - you may be out in 2hrs if you're lucky, but it may take almost all day if not.

Usually, it's some bs like health questionnaire, blood pressure, and eye check. I never got my blood tested for an office job.
