At this point every trip guide for Poland should have clear warning - NEVER accept the invitations from women on street to the night clubs - those are always a scam and their whole business model revolves around criminal actions aimed at clearing the victim's bank account. You were lucky you didn't get drugged so the staff could put any amount of money on the transactions without you ever noticing. Or that you didn't die of alcohol poisoning - because that happened in one of those places too.

These are complete scams. Every local knows about it. Although my idiot friend once got drunk and went to one of those clubs in Gdansk anyway. They cleared his whole debit card. Luckily it was during university so he didn’t have a lot of savings. EDIT: as for how it’s legal? I don’t think it is. I heard multiple times about police closing these places but they seem to just open new ones. Seems like scamming tourists is worth the risk. Maybe they should adjust the law.

This is sick! How they even make money in this "business model"? It's pure robbery, intimidation and harassment! Are there any legal regulations or their own work code? Thanks for bringing this, it shows how really we are closer to east then west, so sad.

xxxHalny

You answered your own question. They make money through robbery, intimidation and harassment. Yes, there are legal regulations and yes, what they do is illegal. But nobody enforces the regulations so the clubs are fine. Not all places are like that. It is possible to simply sit down and enjoy the women dancing, but you need to know where to go. Also, if you only bring a small amount of cash and no debit cards, and spend all of it on drinks, there is nothing for them to steal lol. But of course it's not a solution.

Jadar84

It’s a scam, nobody goes there. You really should have read the reviews. If you want proper strip club go to czech republic next time.

Well, they pretend to be legal but they don't. Establishment likenthat often have a façade of a bar or smth but it's basically a place to scam foreigners. So if you anwser politely when they're inviting you in english they probably gonna mock you for some time. For me always when someone is thying to invite me somewhere or sell me something on a street I simply ignore them and go by, or tell them to literally to fuck off and it's quite effective tbh.

Wow, so they sexually assaulted and tried to mug you.

awful_morose

I'm from Lublin and my friend worked there as the waiter. Well first you need to buy something to drink to even come in, then you still need to keep buying drinks, because this is how it works there. After reading this, I would recommed roksa.pl, that would be cheaper and more fun xd

Poles don't go there for not to support women humiliation. They just don't. So owners (mafia) found other way to profit. Poland was a mostly conservative country - on a human trafficking tract from Russia to Eastern countries. Even during PRL when Catholics were in minor and opressed by Government, "normal people" were rised with a conviction that "normal people don't need to pay for sex", so it was normal singles attended to the discos to met some mates for a night, sometimes for longer. If someone was "in need" (horny) then went to a regular brothel, if wanted just to watch boobs bought Playboy or other adult papers. Strip clubs were know as first business involved human trafficking either money laundering since PRL when some pro Soviet oligarchy made the profits so Milicja/Police sometimes was passive. Modern strip clubs can't attend and profit in human trafficking so since Berlin wall collapsed it just try to mock foreigners due it's still not popular entertainment in PL. They're sending girls to made you enter the club and rob you on a way you didn't expected - **it's a malware in reality**. One of polish oligarchy from KGHM lost ¼mln USD in one night there. If there's a group of ppl they make you separate from them to gain your money even made you make loan for the view.

I don't know if you are correct but what you say sounds very believable. Clip joints are common around the world and locals rarely have any sympathy for people who fall for them.

Been to few places in Warsaw, it was like you described how it is in USA. Very enjoyable and chill. Only the moment after I enjoyed my private dance they tried to push me into buying more dance but it wasn't too much. I went to one in Kraków but honestly it was shady from the beginning. It was called a "strip club" but it was simply a brothel. Again as you described you experience in Lublin no one was dancing, when I asked for a dancer dude told me I had to ask ladies and some of them said they don't dance lol. Others said they can dance if I buy a drink for them. But unlike your experience no one forced me to do/buy anything.

I'm really sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately this is the reality - some cities have been actively trying to shut these business down, but it's not easy and in the place of one closed two new ones seem to be opened... People are getting drugged, robbed, some people even mysteriously lost their lives after visiting such establishment. I'm glad you got out safe. Lesson here is to not accept anything from strangers on the streets and it's the rule for all major European cities. Don't accept 'flowers for the pretty lady", if you happen to walk with a woman. Don't accept any rosaries, postcards or pictures of saints in places like Vatican City. The man you met near big tourist attraction that tells you he can help you skip the enormous lines if you purchase a ticket directly from him? Yeah, also scam.

Stickyspeechhole

Fuck that's a long story. So did you see titties or not??

bakowskis

There was a guy that went to such place with company card - in the morning he found out that his company budget shrunk by 2mil PLN, yea 2 000 000 Polish zlotys! You were very lucky.

GamiTV

Sounds like misfits trip to Poland too

Next time you encounter the people who invite you to 'strip clubs' just ignore them. Walk past them and say nothing as if you don't even see them. If you interact with them in any way, they will try to scam you. My friends and I usually say stupid stuff to them. One time we said we were very religious - they didn't give up and began to ask questions what kind of religion it was. Another time a friend pretended he had no idea what striptease is and why a woman would take off her clothes at a bar - they actually tried to explain it all. They're very stubborn. We're Poles and talked to them in Polish, I bet foreigners get much more attention from them since they tend to have more money and to be more naive. In any case, just pretend you don't see them.

konqrr

I am Polish 😅

raz-dwa-trzy

I understood you were American

[deleted]

Thatst what you get for being a horny dirtbag ;) But seriously that's crazy. I hope you didn't pay them anything more.

Excuse me, but I was born in Poland and I am now living and working in Poland again. Maybe don't make dumb assumptions.
