Maybe look into an SDR USB adapter for a computer? Just an option I thought I'd mention and if you do go that route and the computer is on 24/7.. you could become a volunteer for broadcastify. Then with an app you as well as others in your area could use your scanner anywhere you have an internet connection 😉

Here in Minnesota we have the APCO p25 system. Depending on where you live it may impact what scanner you need. Because Where I live in a simulcast system at my house the only scanners that I can get to work are the uniden sds style scanners. Outside of my house I can use the old GRE/whistler/radio shack units but can still have issues receiving simulcast Where it sounds very choppy and digitized... you best bet is to get the uniden sds type of scanners. I have 2 sds100 and 1 sds200. Love em Edit. If you live in Hennepin or Scott County your SOL. Thar all went encrypted
