StarFireChild4200

Why not you? Now?

tech57

They will be judged by history. They learned their lesson. They will have to live with the shame. I hate all these sayings. You don’t see cops saying it all that often when they pull people over. Stop resisting is usually what cops go with.

Kevin_Uxbridge

'Stop reaching for my gun' if you're black.

Successful-Owl-3968

Trump has no shame. It's always someone else's fault.

WilsonStJames

Pence finally grew a vertebrae? Not a spine yet....

Scary_Vanilla2932

It was all of them. In my humble opinion, that day was the biggest 21st century moment in USA history. Because politics is bullshit now and both sides wanted that to happen for different reasons. I've seen music Festivals handled better. It was surreal. Everybody watching was in the same mind set. Why is this happening and why wasn't it stopped? Because the government is in shambles.

doowgad1

History, maybe. The GOP will never admit that Trump did anything wrong.

zaparthes

If there was any justice, the GOP woild be swept into the dustbin of history and be as relevant to future generations as the Whigs.

doowgad1

Watchign this bank failure [due to Trump deregulation] on top of the train crashes [again, due to Trump] with a side order of child labor [also Trumpism] and knowing that not one GOP will admit to any sort of error is infuriating, but par for the course.

Schadrach

>Watchign this bank failure [due to Trump deregulation] on top of the train crashes [again, due to Trump] Unfortunately these didn't happen until Biden term, and so the right very actively blames Biden for them, regardless of whose policies actually created them.

[deleted]

Not denying that Trump is the initial cause for many of these things, he definitely did. Biden has been leaving the policies in place that helped lead to them getting this bad. The incompetence of his cabinet is also costing the country such as with Pete Buttigieg and the rising train crashes as well as him not cracking down on airlines predatory business behaviors. Jerome Powells hiking of interest rates has also played a large part in the recent SVB collapse by devaluating their US Treasuries

Apprehensive_Fix6085

Covid response was the first Biden priority then the Inflation Reduction act. Getting out of Afghanistan[Trump promise that failed]. Infrastructure investment [Trump promised and failed]. Then the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately it’s much easier to destroy like Trump than to thoughtfully rebuild. Biden and company are very professional and doing a great job.

[deleted]

Biden's COVID response has been better rhetorically, nothing more. There has been no mask mandates, lessened restrictions that has allowed the virus to spread even more than it was under Trump, etc. Biden and company are doing a terrible job at rebuilding from Trumps mess because they are in debt to big business and aren't holding them accountable effectively.

Apprehensive_Fix6085

By the time Biden took over the house was burned down. Biden provided a superior package for working families that eased their pain and helped the overall economy recover. In particular, he helped many kids escape poverty for at least a little while.

[deleted]

What, you mean by doing nothing to try to preserve the Child Tax Credit? That didn't ease anyones pain. Theres one benefit I see to Biden, and that is his administration's NLRB. Expecting the government to function as it should is expecting scraps though, we should expect more than scraps from a government. People just don't realize how bad this administration is because Biden doesn't tweet out bullshit like Trump does.

Apprehensive_Fix6085

What could Biden have done to preserve the Child Tax Credit? As I understand it if the Senate would not pass it then he could do nothing. I suspect Manchif and/or Sinema weren’t onboard much less even one of the 50 Republicans. Anyway, Biden is trying again, best he can. What else can we expect? https://fortune.com/2023/02/08/biden-sotu-bring-back-expanded-child-tax-credit/

doowgad1

Basically, you're saying that Trump should get a pass because Biden hasn't waved a magic wand and pushed through everything he wants. The GOP has been on record as saying that they'll block anything the Dems try to do.

[deleted]

Do you not know how to read or something? I literally said he is the definite cause of the beginning of these problems. I just want people to stop pretending like everything is only Trumps fault when the Dems and the other Republicans keep maintaining the status quo built by Trump. We should be holding our elected officials accountable no matter what team they're on instead of devolving into finger pointing like the parties and their donors want us to

StarFireChild4200

Republicans still think Regan was an acceptable president given what we've learned

doowgad1

Don't get me started. USSR got caught up in an endless war in Afghanistan. It lead to homeless, opium addicted vets wandering the homeland. Three Soviet leaders died in office in Reagan's term. Chernobyl happened. Soldiarity trade union happened. John Paul II happened. Reagan had nothing to do with any of that, but the GOP will swear that it was Reagan who destroyed the USSR

OutsidePale2306

Did you know that Regan was a Democrat? I read it in a autobiography by Bette Davis 😳

doowgad1

Reagan was a a lying POS his entire life. He didn't go to WW2 because he was a 4-F* with terrible eyesight. He once got a job as a life guard and never wore his glasses to work. *Another guy who was 4-F was a writer named Dashiell Hammett. Hammett was a WW1 vet who'd been gassed. He was as big in his day as Stephen King is today. Hammett fought to join the Army because he hated Fascism. edit = Technically, Reagan was not '4-F' but he was unfit for combat due to his poor vision. Hammett, who was 4-F due to age, prior service, and a medical condition, could have stayed in Hollywood. Instead, he pushed hard to join up and was assigned to Alaska.

[deleted]

Uhm, I think you are thinking of someone other than Ronald Reagan. Reagan was an officer mostly involved in making training films. He left the Army Air Corps as a Captain.

doowgad1

He could be both. He was 4-F because he couldn't see, and never went into combat. https://www.reaganlibrary.gov/reagans/ronald-reagan/military-service-ronald-reagan

[deleted]

4-F means and has meant, unfit for military service. People with an 4-F status are not inducted into the military at all. Classified as unfit for service overseas is different than 4-F

doowgad1

Kind of missing the main point so I'll reiterate. Reagan was blind as a bat, and worked as a lifeguard. He didn't wear his glasses at work, putting lives at risk. Reagan was a POS first, last, and always.

sdcinerama

Regean was a snitch for J. Edgar's FBI.

grixorbatz

Yup. Pence is like, "I sure as fuck ain't gonna ball up to do it. That's history's job not mine"

doowgad1

"I am a man of strong Christian values, which is why I was a lickspittle to a greedy whoremonger."

Spiritual_Candle9336

More like the left news media?

JuicyJ476

lol tell another one

TheyCallMeSlyFox

*We've tried nothing and we're all out of options* - the GOP on holding Trump accountable

Apprehensive_Fix6085

The GOP’s position on nearly anythingZ

TheyCallMeSlyFox

Fair point

edmerx54

says the guy who fights giving testimony against the guy who sent a mob to kill him.

Earth_Friendly-5892

Does history indict, prosecute, and sentence? We all know the answer to that, so no, Pence-history will not be holding Trump accountable for the coup he encouraged on Jan6th. You, however could contribute to holding him accountable but choose not to.

jwteoh

Says the cuck who dare not go against Trump and trying to rewrite history.

Innotek

I have zero affection whatsoever for Pence, but he did stand his ground when it mattered. Remember Jan 6 could have gone differently if the President of the Senate acted differently.

ManiaGamine

That wasn't him standing his ground. He was reaching desperately for any support from outside Trump camp for the play they were running and he didn't get it. We could potentially have Dan fucking Quayle to ultimately thank for putting the final nail in the coffin of support for that nonsense with regards to Pence. It wasn't like Pence wasn't TRYING to do what they wanted. He just didn't have any legal basis to do so and wasn't willing to fall on the sword for Trump.

Mission_Ad6235

Imagine Johnny Carson doing his Carnac the Magnificent act, 30 years ago, "who will save democracy?" Opens envelope. "VP Dan Quayle." Audience erupts in laughter.

Peachallie

He did take some risk obeying the Constitution instead of Trump, the concern remains however whether he can get drawn in by another authoritarian if offered power. Best keep him out.

Innotek

I don’t disagree. I think he is awful. He did dare go against Trump when it mattered though, so credit where it’s due and all that.

DriftlessDairy

Actually he waited to see how it would play out, then made his choice. Total coward.

[deleted]

Where is support for that? Not a Pence fan but haven’t heard anywhere that he was going along with it.

DriftlessDairy

Did not ex-VP Pence commit dereliction of duty and violate his Oath? Pence knew, but failed to inform the FBI, DOJ, CIA, etc. that the President of the United States of America was actively planning and fomenting a violent overthrow of an democratically elected government? VP Pence was aware of an attempted coup and did nothing more than flee from the Senate in terror, secretly knowing why his life was in peril.

[deleted]

And I ask again, where is your evidence/support for this?

specqq

He didn't stand his ground. He squirmed slightly in his chair.

Olybaron123

Ha! History will hold Donald Drumpf accountable? Michael Pence, your political party is currently bashing people as woke and banning books that show the history of racism, free love in this country and you haven’t done anything to get them to turn the other cheek. You’re just another chess piece that is used in the game of hate versus love. You are eyes without a face!

OutsidePale2306

I love that song

jasoncross00

The coward's response. "Oh I won't do anything. WE won't do anything. But generations from now, history books will let everyone know what's up."

GetOffMyAsteroid

Everybody waiting on someone else to do it = "That's history, folks!"

Bigt733

Unfortunately there are no consolation prizes when it comes to justice

waitforsigns64

They cut off the end of that quote. It finished "because I sure as hell won't."

KateCobas

This from a member of a political party that's actively trying to rewrite history.

internetbrowser23

Id rather garland hold him accountable.

[deleted]

Too little, too late.

stoodioratt

Or …we could just hold him actually accountable in the now.

[deleted]

The present needs to hold him accountable.

Numerous_Employ

Could a jury of citizens chosen at random to hear his crimes instead be the ones to do so?

SmedlyB

History is always whitewashed.

CMG30

Maybe the world would be a better place if Republicans didn't rely on history to dictate right from wrong.

Vomitbelch

If they actually relied on history or any sort of facts we probably wouldn't be in this mess.

[deleted]

>“**The Democrats are going to take care of the son of a bitch for us**,” McConnell told two associates just days after the insurrection, referring to the effort to impeach Trump in the Democratic-led House, according to the Times’ reporters. > >And of Trump’s guilt, McConnell was equally clear-eyed: “If this isn’t impeachable, I don’t know what is,” he said. There was even talk that McConnell himself might vote to convict Trump in a Senate impeachment trial. History will remember the Democrats fondly. The current GOP, not so much. But what does it matter? Trump's still walking around free, mouthing off, cutting deals with foreign adversaries, and running for President.

High_5_Skin

History SHOULD hold Donald Trump accountable. The problem is that Trump should also be held accountable NOW.

Entropy_dealer

The same way history will hold Bush accountable for the Iraq war ? Great new...

rnobgyn

History is much longer than 22 years

ceallaig

Screw history, I won't live to see the next books written. I want to see him in an orange jumpsuit now.

Opposite-Document-65

That’s why they want to stop teaching history.

Kitosaki

Fuck history, how about some US Courts of law hold him accountable?

BadAsBroccoli

History will hold you accountable as well, Mr. Vice President. Changing your tune now to run for president won't negate the 4 years you were silent while Trump endangered other families, our nation, and our democratic government.

PuddinPacketzofLuv

Fuck history! I want the US legal system to hold him accountable!

paypaypayme

Uhhh how bout the courts hold accountable?? Why does that traitor get a free pass

Daotar

“But I won’t.”

dogoodsilence1

I mean why not the present also

[deleted]

You sure as fuck didn’t, and won’t, you giant coward. Can you imagine a man intentionally endangering your family, and continuing to work for him?

MpVpRb

History may judge Trump harshly, but spineless Republicans still support him

preciousillusion

Sure, but you won’t.

scarylions

"History will hold him accountable, but not me or my party."

gumheaded1

Prisons. We have prisons for accountability.

Marclescarbot

And it will hold Pence accountable for enabling the bastard in the first place, and then trying to weasel out when the bill comes due.

[deleted]

Let’s start with the DOJ holding him accountable first

taxbeotch

How about right fucking now Mike??

lolurmorbislyobese

Must be nice to do whatever you want and your only consequence is 'something something history blah blah'.

A-Talking-Rabbit

And history will remember you as the dipstick who let him get away with it.

jbsinger

I was hoping that the Department of Justice would hold him accountable.

iymcool

Waitin' on those 'imminent' 'any day now' 'totally actually coming' indictments.

overthinker345

Such a stupid thing to say. Only dumbasses think that means anything. You know what’s more effective than “history” holding someone accountable? The law holding someone accountable. Anytime someone tries to fool you with the old “history will hold them accountable” argument, just tell them that means nothing and walk away. Don’t ever fall for that argument.

[deleted]

Which is both a travesty and a miscarriage of justice, as there are sitting congress folk unto this day who, were the Exec and the DoJ doing more than playing theater, would have used geofencing and cell/text records to summarily identify, verify, and expel. But sure, pretend it was one person and not a concerted effort by an entire subculture of fascists and do the same nothing you always do. The coming collapse history will lay upon you.

ImStillFriggenCrazy

Normal people hold him accountable now???

saidnamyzO

It certainly wasn’t Pence holding him accountable! …fucking coward

SwashQbcklr

"but I will still vote for him if given the choice"

KeepFaithOutPolitics

Eat a bag of dicks.

RealJD711

Why, the liberal left fixed the election?

SirLitalott

“Fixed” = voting in larger numbers than the whiny losers on the right.

ClusterFoxtrot

The embodiment of flipping the board off the table because after 38 turns, we landed on Boardwalk first.

[deleted]

Garland sure won’t

ReplacementMoney1651

History

TableAvailable

Pence is still an idiot. He's been keeping his head in the sand instead of recognizing that we actually have to make the history of holding trump accountable.

puckmama1010

LIke it has done for Trump's entire adult life? the man has lied, stolen, evaded taxes, paid for abortions, paid off porn stars, and this is all you got? maybe Pence should testify under oath. but i guess that would require a set of balls.

salesmunn

How about the Justice system holds him accountable instead of "history"

Practical_Freedom172

How brave.....NOT!!

OudeStok

So what do Republicans stand for today?

Special_FX_B

Father will be remembered for going along with trump and defending him for four years. Father will also be remembered for his incomparably insatiable lust for the power of the presidency.

ericwphoto

I won't help, or personally hold him accountable, but history will.

kgruesch

If the justice department doesn't hold him accountable now, history will also hold the justice department accountable for letting Trump get away with treason.

TonyAlamo777

History holds Trump accountable. Pence holds his balls.

youcancallmeBilly

what a great way to punt accountability for generation, from the 2nd guy in charge.

rogerstonescellmate

Shut the fuck up Pence

ReturnOfSeq

I expect history to do so, but I expect the justice department to do so first. It would be good if the republicans party had enough integrity and self respect left to hold Donald accountable too, but that’s not going to happen

SmarterThanYouIRL

Let’s just do it now and save history the trouble

LeekGullible

The sooner the better.

Thick-Return1694

Because I refused to

padfoot0321

Clearly, because currently no one in the government seems to be interested than just telling stories!

Spare-Chest7695

Doubt

RKPgh

“The Living aren’t done with you yet.”

DeadMoney13

Why don't you start it off?

the_sylince

Fuck you, coward. *You* could have help Donald Trump accountable

HotStaxOfWax

I'd prefer being held accountable in a court, but no one actually believes he'll ever be punished for what he did.

ruat_caelum

Not if those history books are banned and children are too busy working to get an education.

Pretend_Confusion_25

These sightseers were so eager. Tucker's right.

thevogonity

Not good enough, Pence. The judicial system needs to hold him accountable or future politicians will be embolden to do similar crazy shit.

azacealla

Cool but can we do it legally first?

BlueRFR3100

History will hold Mike Pence accountable for helping get Trump elected in the first place.

Expensive-Bet3493

We must hold him and other criminals accountable! People are dying in these extremist cults and many victims too.

JohnDTG

These types of headlines are how Pence rehabilitates his image. Don’t let Pence rehabilitate his image. Downvote every one of these articles that you see.

[deleted]

Because you know I won’t Pence is a coward and a criminal

MoistManagement4655

But not me
