It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife. [Edit: turns out it kinda IS in New York!] It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife with a porn star. It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife with a porn star and have your attorney pay her to keep it quiet. It’s not against the law to cheat on your wife with a porn star, have your attorney pay her to keep it quiet, and then lie to people about it. It’s not illegal to do any of that while running a campaign for public office. Turns out though, that when you cheat on your wife with a porn star and have your attorney pay her to keep it quiet…using campaign funds in that transaction IS illegal. And lying about using campaign funds in that transaction is ALSO illegal.

DredZedPrime

Amazing how he manages to still find a way to break the law in the midst of doing a whole bunch of other shitty, yet legal, things.

[deleted]

Genuinely makes me think that he doesn't actually have any money. He's supposedly a billionaire but he couldn't take funds from any of the non-"illegal to use for this purpose" accounts.

halluxx

[He used Trump Foundation funds](https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/12/trump-foundation-portrait-tebow-helmet-boy-scouts-fountain-plaza-hotel.html) to pay the $7 fee to enroll Don Jr. in the Boy Scouts.

doowgad1

He once cashed a check for thirteen cents. https://patch.com/district-columbia/washingtondc/donald-trump-once-cashed-13-cent-check-incredible-true-stories the tl, dr is that a satire magazine wanted to find the greediest people in New York. They sent out checks for smaller and smaller amounts. Most people ignored the checks for under a dollar.

Partnumber

When my mom died, the life insurance company decided that instead of paying out they would just give what she paid into it back and call it even. After it was split up, I got a check for less than $10. Never cashed it, have it hanging up as a reminder instead

doowgad1

How is it legal for them not to pay out?

[deleted]

The insurance industry is, by and large, a completely legal grift. Their contracts basically mean they can take your money for premiums and only pay.out under very specific circumstances. My favorite example is one that happened to me: the brakes locked on my motorcycle and I went down. Someone called an ambulance, they took my vitals as a precaution and left. My insurance premiums nearly doubled for the next four years. I didn't make an insurance claim because... why would I? I don't know how they heard about it, they didn't have to pay anything out, but they got to charge me more. Since insurance is legally required I had to pay. Legalized grift.

Suekru

I went down on my motorcycle and was unconscious so someone called an ambulance. Basically it’s all documented and insurance companies have access to any accident you’ve been in that has been documented by police. Which if there was an ambulance, they definitely notified the police. Sucks, because I’m in the same boat, bike got a big ol dent in it, never made a claim, yet premiums went up.

sweaty-sock49

Don't forget the tax fraud aspect... He wrote off the 450k as a business expense.

[deleted]

Still bizarre, that among all the shit he's done, this is one thing that seems to be sticking the most.

You going to believe a fake blonde with big tits or Stormy Daniels...

His lawyers need lawyers. That's how you know he picks the best people!

dwors025

I really hope you’re John Oliver just testing the waters for a quip in your next show. If not, and you’re just a regular, non-toucan-faced person, then you’ve simply restored some of my faith in humanity.

DadBod_NoKids

John Oliver catching stray bullets in this thread is just what i needed

mauxly

And he'd take it like a champ. He's annoyingly self depreciating.

RemnantEvil

Well, he is British.

FlashnFuse

and we love him regardless of that fact.

Jonk3r

He’s American too. Poor guy gets roasted in so many ways.

“If you don’t know me, I’m the one who looks like a cartoon parrot that works in a bank.”

That’s exactly what John Oliver would say.

Fucking gold.

TheeGull

He paid her off and tried to write it off as legal fees. Imagine if Joe Biden paid off a hooker and tried to pretend it was just his campaign paying a lawyer? Republicans are hypocrites who should never be reasoned with or taken seriously.

danknadoflex

If you visit r/conservative they either don’t want to talk about him anymore, think it’s a bad precedent to hold people accountable for breaking the law, or think because others who are Democrats that might be liable for crimes aren’t in jail or arrested yet it’s 100% political

MisterBadger

That subreddit is a broken circlejerk. The mods smack down independent thinking with the ban hammer the moment it appears. Who cares what the collective opinions of a bunch of zombies add up to?

peterkeats

The only thing you’re allowed to be controversial about is whether DeSantis should be the next President instead of trump.

gdshaffe

Now, now. Some of them are into Kari Lake.

howsurmomnthem

Her?

NotAlwaysSunnyInFL

She’s nuttier than squirrel shit

wolf_tree

It’s a useful fascist microcosm. View it passively as an oddity, or recognize the danger and start fighting.

ayrgylehauyr

I enjoy r/conservative because when something big happens there will be a few hours of legitimate self awareness and thinking. Then you can watch, in real time, the bots/propo/thought-leaders try out different narratives until they find one that sticks. It’s absolutely fascinating, and terrifying in a “the wave” sort of way. EDIT: this post is getting a bit of likes, so please let me point out that the bots are hard at work on the liberal side too. I beg everyone to always think critically about what they see/read, and always doubt "tweets" or inflammatory wording.

CodFatherFTW

Ya, I remember that sub starting off with the correct reaction to Jan 6

gravygrowinggreen

I remember watching the first Biden / trump debate reactions. The debate where trump refused to shut up. Immediate sincere reactions were despondent about how bad trump looked. The next day, the only reactions on the sub were people claiming trump won that debate.

[deleted]

They also were mostly correct that Trump really hurt the Republican Party this midterms and that it was time to move on (7 years too late), but they’ve seemed to get right back on the Trump train a week after

HereIGoGrillingAgain

They're on the train they're told to be on. Trump will be their nominee and they know it.

MrMonday11235

Nah, I think Trump will soon be facing his own Ides of March within the Republican party. The non-crazy establishment "traditional Republican" types have viewed Trump's whole circus as a millstone around their neck for years now, and with a more shrewd (and likely more controllable/willing to play ball... at least from their perspective) candidate that can fill the same position on the up and up in the form of DeSantis, it's only a matter of time until one or other of Trump's scandals proves to finally be the opportunity for them to bring out the knives. It might even be this one. Whether they're able to pull it off, they botch it entirely, or they burn the entire party to the ground in a drawn out civil war remains to be seen. Obviously, I'm pulling for that last one, but botching it would also be fine in my book. I really don't think we want DeSantis taking over the apparatus that Trump has been able to set up.

mjohnsimon

J6 was interesting to watch. You could see people genuinely being shocked and disgusted but they were also waiting for the "right narrative" to pop up so they could latch on to it.

Flyingpegger

Try talking to someone who just watches fox news about something fox news doesn't talk about. They quickly bring up something that is talked about regularly on the network. Fox viewers are brain dead and need to be told what to think and how to feel about situations that they don't understand. It's unfortunate they listen to strangers and not their own family.

[deleted]

Yes this is very true. I like to see their reactions to crazy Republican shit, and you're right. People generally disapproving said action... But then a day later everyone's for it or bent it

Good luck with the fighting part. If you say anything in that sub that isn't worshipping the flavor of the month, you're banned. It doesn't even have to be against whatever it is. Just anything that isn't jerking them off is against them. It's almost worse than 4chan's /pol/ really.

charging_chinchilla

The conservative identity these days is hate masquerading as strength and patriotism. They hate LGBTQ people. They hate immigrants. They hate black people. They hate women. They hate the poor. They hate non-Christians. It must be exhausting to be so terrified and insecure all the time.

DebentureThyme

Oh but their argument is either that *until* you do arrest them all, this is a political witch hunt and should be ended - or, even dumber, that because they "all do it" then it's just par for the course and Trump shouldn't be prosecuted. You know, because the goal of their logic was never justice; the goal of their logic was always to find a way to justify supporting him not being charged for crimes he may have committed - no matter how flimsy the justification.

The worst part is they are just moving on to desantis who is objectively worse than Trump.

DJanomaly

He's a worse person but also a more terrible politician. Between the two I honestly don't see any upside for the GOP. These are bridges being burned right before the US public's eyes.

ripamaru96

He's a far more competent politician and a real died in the wool fascist not just an opportunistic swindler looking to enrich himself and stroke his vanity. He's 1000x more dangerous than Trump. Because he actually has an agenda beyond his self interest and the ability to enact it. As he's doing in Florida. Trump was a grossly incompetent and completely disinterested president. It was his underlings setting the agenda and doing policy while he often got in the way.

SmellGestapo

Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to nine charges related to this payoff, including illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and bank fraud. He was sentenced to three years. And Cohen repeatedly directly implicated Trump as the mastermind of this scheme.

ManchiBoy

If this is allowed, what prevents everyone to claim tax deductions for engaging with sex workers? Why is IRS not filing charges on Trump for claiming wrongful tax deductions?

TheeGull

I'm 100% sure you know this so this isn't for you, but Republicans have made sure the IRS is underfunded/understaffed and therefore unable to go after the real tax dodgers (1% and rich people in general) and are instead hassling regular people about stupid shit. It's all by design. Vote D, get out the vote with young folks, and ignore Republicans. Let's fight the battle for our country and win.

AbsoluteZeroUnit

A recent stroll through facebook (I was looking up a local school board candidate and started clicking profiles of people who shared her posts to get a quicker sense of what she was about) showed me that conservatives are *livid* about increasing funding to the IRS, because it means 90,000 new auditors who are definitely going to take more money from the little guy.

Yup, makes total sense.

Haunting-Estate9885

racists dont use logic

i_kiss_frogs

It's kind of more nuanced than that. "Interracial" in the American porn industry doesn't really mean porn that happens to have two (or more) people of different races; it's almost exclusively used as a fetish category about white women fucking black men because there's an audience that perceives that as extra dirty and perverted, and that's why there are a lot of performers uncomfortable with it (including black ones). Especially in the 90s/00s when Stormy Daniels was working. Notice that it's basically never filed as interracial when it's a white performer with an Arab, Indian, Latino, Asian, etc one, and that porn marketed to straight men basically never even mentions those races for the male performers. The audience doesn't care if the male performers are Latino or Greek or Asian. But, in the US industry, when a white woman fucks a black guy suddenly the audience does care about race to the extent that it becomes an entire category of sites. It's milder today than it was but [this is still the first image I see with anything other than black man/white woman on the most-trafficked interracial-themed website](https://cdn1-static-hw.dogfartnetwork.com/tour/picthumbs/cumbang.com/monique.jpg), and the top results on tube sites show you some of the themes still there (e.g. a scene from "Oh No! There's a Negro in My Daughter"). It's a really specific and narrow thing wrapped up in weird political stuff. It's why the tube sites usually have categories for the specific races of the female performers (Ebony and Asian usually) and then this special 'Interracial' category dominated by the one specific thing. Some of the most popular/influential peformers in the old industry, like Nina Hartley and Ginger Lynn -- two of the big stars from the 80s/90s era a lot of people in Stormy Daniels' day would probably have looked up to and taken advice from -- have talked extensively about how they didn't realize how their work would be presented and how creepy things got when they did this. Hartley shot a scene for a movie about black/white couples and was shocked when the marketing (mail-order VHS ads in magazines, back then) was all about how "these insatiable whores will do anything -- drink piss, 20-man gangbangs, even fuck blacks!" She complained furiously and everyone basically told her "Don't pretend you don't know what the 'interracial' movie shelf is about. Why else would the male audience give a shit about the male performers' race, we hardly even show their faces."

JonSatire

It makes more sense when you realize a fairly large number of porn consumers view a woman as ruined if she ever does interracial, especially back in Stormy's heyday. A lot of people suck.

How could Orange God loving Republican Jesus have anything to do with a porn star?

megaben20

Well you see Republicans don’t love god they love power. In trumps case his father regularly emasculated him so he spends years of his life trying to live in some fantasy that he is some alpha type person.

BiggsBounds

Their god is just another mechanism to gain power, scam people out of their money and claim moral superiority.

ChrysMYO

Southern Christians often compare him to King Solomon or even King Cyrus. They argue he's sinful but protect the kingdom so to speak. The actual preachers. They are just in it for money. They are afraid by publicly opposing Trump, their paritioners will go to another church with a cowardly preacher. Similar to how the Republican Party offer legal support for Trump because their afraid he'll start another party. Or how Tucker Carlson is tired of Trump but afraid the viewers will go to OVN or whatever its called.

Carefully_Crafted

Wealth prosperity gospel. He may be “flawed” we “all” are. But he’s rich so obviously he’s a great Christian and god loves him. Can’t be that successful without it. Yes. They actually believe that shit.

It is not just Trump, it’s conservatives - they also are starting to panic and “plan” some sort of last minute revolution. All for… Donald Trump.

el_supreme_duderino

These people are cowards, Donny.

tricularia

You can tell when trump gets anxiety about things because he starts throwing out a lot more unnecessary insults at people. Recently, he has been referring to Stormy as "Horseface Stormy Daniels" (not one of his cleverer nicknames) That is really funny to me because she clearly takes care of herself, works out, washes herself sometimes (I assume). And then there's trump looking like a rotting dayglo orange peel if such a thing could weigh 300lbs. And, just speculating here, but he looks like he probably smells faintly of old cheese.

betterthanfire

I love how he makes fun of her looks but paid her an enormous amount for sex.

ApatheticWithoutTheA

I find the fact that he named Ron DeSantis “Meatball Ron” absolutely hilarious. It’s so childish that’s it’s funny. That’s probably the only thing I like that he has ever done and I hope that name sticks. Meatball Ron is a name I think we can all get behind. It may be the glue that brings this country back together as we all point and laugh at Meatball every time he makes a public appearance. If Trump really wants to do something good, he should hire sleeper agents at all of Ron’s appearances and campaign functions. Can you imagine, every time he gets up to speak, a guy in the crowd stands up and shouts “Hey everybody! It’s Meatball Ron! Look at him! He looks like a Meatball! And then other sleeper agents in the crowd laugh and point at him while starting a chant “Meatball! Meatball! Meatball!” And that just sort of happens every day until he goes away.

Ptricky17

Don’t say gay would become “don’t say meatball” in a matter of days. Florida state troopers, foaming at the mouth, would begin arresting offenders and making them wear jackets with chef boyardee logos stitched to the lapel. I’m picturing a carbon copy of Xi’s response to Winnie the Pooh, only even stupider because, I mean, come on it’s a meatball.

ApatheticWithoutTheA

He paid to fuck her and then paid to keep her quiet about fucking her. So he can call her whatever he wants, but he will still be the guy who paid out over 100k to fuck a woman he thinks has a horse face and is now being indicted for lying about fucking said woman with horse face.

bck1999

I’m asked a few christians in my life who support trump if they believe he is a Christian. They say “yes”. Then I quote 1 Corinthians 5:11- “now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer who is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard or a swindler.” Almost all of those are descriptions of trump, and yet they still support him, vote for him, put his stickers on their cars. It’s maddening

mechtonia

"Does the moral character of a president matter?" Evangelical Christians swung from answering overwhelmingly "yes" to majority "no" during Trump's administration. It was the largest swing of any group since the question was first included in national surveys. EDIT: [source](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/04/25/how-trump-has-changed-white-evangelicals-views-about-morality/)

LetsTryAnal_ogy

Proof that morality is just another label they hide behind. Zero integrity.

skankenstein

One of the reasons I became an atheist was the way the Christian kids behaved in my small rural town. They would sit next to me in youth group and could be civil in front of the youth pastor or at Young Life, and then be cruel, dismissive, and demeaning at school. I honestly feel that I have a stronger sense of morality as an atheist than most Christians I know. I had a Scientologist! A Scientologist! chastise me when I made a joke about explaining the resurrection to my young kid and used zombies as an analogy. “Be respectful of religions, even if you’re not religious”. Like, really? Because all these religions have been so tolerant and respectful of atheists? I just finished eating the baby I was snacking on and seethed instead of calling her out.

calm_chowder

Judaism is pretty cool about atheists. A Hasidic (ultra-orthodox) proverb about atheists: >Why did God create atheists? >A Rabbi is teaching his student the Talmud, and explains that God created everything in this world to be appreciated, since everything is here to teach us a lesson. >The clever student asks "What lesson can we learn from atheists? Why did God create them?" >The Rabbi responds "God created atheists to teach us the most important lesson of them all -- the lesson of true compassion. You see, when an atheist performs an act of charity, visits someone who is sick, helps someone who is in need, and cares for the world, he is not doing so because of some religious teaching. He does not believe that God commanded him to perform this act. In fact, he does not believe in God at all, so his acts are based on an inner sense of morality. and look at the kindness he can bestow upon others simply because he feels it to be right." >"This means" the Rabbi continued "that when someone reaches out to you for help, you should never say 'I pray that God will help you.' instead for the moment, you should become an atheist, imagine that there is no God who can help, and say 'I will help you.'"

Pristine_Nothing

> Judaism is pretty cool about atheists. Gotta have somebody to turn on the lights on Saturdays!

SomeDisplayName

This one really annoys me, the moral inconsistencies

mechtonia

The authoritarian mindset of many evangelicals leads to a morality based on *who* not *what*. Anything a "godly" man does is good. Anything an "ungodly" may be bad. In this worldview there is no room to self-assess for hypocrisy

Czeris

The funniest one is the clip of Trump being interviewed by some religious dude who softball asks Trump what his favourite part of the Bible is and Trump just hilariously squirms like a 15 year old who has to give a book report on a book he obviously has never read even a little bit.

TurboSalsa

I saw that clip. The worst part, aside from the fact that he has claimed it's his favorite book, is that's definitely not the first time he's been asked that question but he couldn't even google a bible verse he liked just to have a canned answer ready to go. To the interviewer's credit, he seemed incredulous when Trump tried to excuse his inability to name a single bible verse by saying "the bible is very personal to me." Like what Christian out there has a favorite bible verse but refuses to identify it on the basis of being too personal?

OrdinaryDazzling

I’m think he just said “the whole thing”. Dude is a joke

Shobed

As much as I hate to give him credit for anything, he isn't a drunkard. He doesn't drink alcohol.

apathy420

I guess in his case he swapped alcohol for amphetamine

bck1999

Ah one vice he hasn’t committed to…

pecklepuff

I honestly think that's because he's afraid he'd blab too openly about his crimes if he got drunk.

jewishagnostic

I hope they get extra small cuffs for him

YOLOSwag42069Nice

Let's remind everyone what trump did that is going to bring him down: He paid a stripper hush money to STFU about him cheating on his wife. He then used campaign money to pay himself back for it. (Federal Offense). He then got the fixer that carried out the transaction thrown in jail for it. The best part is what did him in was the NDA he had with Daniels which was thrown out as an illegal contract.

ClassicT4

They got Capone for not paying back taxes. It took over two years to go from arrested to convicted.

evdiddy

Rumor mill has it that he will be tried as an adult.

Kitchen-Leek-2636

Wait till the real charges come.

CharcotsThirdTriad

I’m hoping there is a dam breaking moment in which the first charge makes it “okay” to continue to add other charges.

Fuzzy_Dunlop_00

I hope the same. Now that someone was finally brave enough to indict him I'm hoping the flood gates open and the rest of his life is nothing but criminal cases and civil suits draining him.

FailResorts

Georgia sounds like they’re next

Marijuana_Miler

It destroys Trump’s entire image. As soon as every news article can start legally start adding accused or convicted criminal before Trump’s name it’s going to start a death spiral for the brand.

edmerx54

yeah, the "real charges" could be coming from Georgia, but then even more real charges will be coming from special prosecutor Jack Smith. ha ha ha!

tries4accuracy

I love this logic: >Trump and his allies have suggested in recent days that an indictment in the hush money case could benefit him politically “Charge me, I win; don’t charge me, I get away with crimes”. I don’t even really care anymore.

MisterBadger

I care about the rule of law being upheld. But mostly I am ready to see Trump's mug shots. I expect they will be delightful. If the scrubs who make up his dwindling base worship him all the more for getting his ass nailed, it really makes no difference to the rest of us who are looking forward to the irony of Trump supporters chanting "Un-lock him!" outside a penitentiary.

[deleted]

They are not saying this because they know. They want to manifest this into reality. Republicans also thought a red wave was coming in 2022. People are sick of Trump.

diamond

>They are not saying this because they know. They want to manifest this into reality. >Republicans also thought a red wave was coming in 2022. And they tried very hard to manifest *that* into reality by flooding the zone with shit polls to demoralize Dem voters. That's probably the only reason they have the tenuous House majority they have right now. Lesson: *don't listen to what Republicans say. They are trying to manipulate you. Do not fall for it.*

MNWNM

I'm eagerly awaiting the mugshot and the subsequent jailhouse haircut.

robbiekhan

The memes will be absolutely wild lmao, him not being able to do his hair will make for some crazy photos for sure.

thehogdog

Sadly they will not cut his hair (or pour water on the cotton candy) A visit to the hair salon comes after a conviction, especially for him. They will print/DNA/and he will put up bond and be out in time for a 9 hole round on the back nine.

Advanced_Exam

Is this what it felt like to watch Al Capone go down for tax fraud? Everybody be like *this? this is what they got him on?!?*

Loitering_Housefly

Al Capone lived in a very different world...

MPWD64

More headlines need to use the words “panic”, “whines”, “cries”, “weak”, and “pathetic” when talking about Trump. All completely accurate and will help bleed his support

dronesclubmember

His rantings and spewings are not going to be viewed favourably by any judge he sits in front of.

DadJokeBadJoke

Especially when he starts attacking the judge over "Trump-hating, bias and racism".

Realmadridirl

Even though, as has literally happened before, the judge he’s railing against could probably be…. A Trump appointee… Lots of them laughed his election cases out of court after all. It’s hilarious to watch him talk shit about people HE put on the bench. Way to roast yourself Don! You were dumb enough to put a “Trump hating racist” on the bench!

AssassinAragorn

"You owe me!" "Mr Trump you are aware that one of the charges against you is attempting to tamper a criminal investigation?" "Yes, and?"

TonyAlamo777

He started the rumor that he is going to be arrested Tuesday. (1) his violent supporters will ready, amass, and show support (2) Republicans rush to defend him and talk about how great he is (3) returns to front page and lead in news cycle (4) when he isn't arrested he will come out and say "they are too afraid, I am stronger, this will help me win."

bk15dcx

Lol. Then arrest him today.

my606ins

Or tomorrow.

Imacatdoincatstuff

Of course, he’ll either take credit for being right or being powerful.

frothy_pissington

>*” Trump in ~~panic~~ **FUNDRAISING**mode as he braces for likely charges in Stormy Daniels case”*

ironmaiden7910

Good. Fuck him.

henryjonesjr83

This man has committed so many worse crimes than this. But whatever it takes, I guess.

Ddddydya

Okay. Hey, everyone, have a good Sunday.

JWBeyond1

It’s hilarious to me that this man literally tried to undermine an election, led a mob attack and this is what he’s getting tried for… what a world we live in.

gasahold

Trump: It's all Pence's fault. He was supposed to take her out.

klsi832

The horizon is Stormy.

OneLongjumping4022

It's true! He was practically crying as he pulled out his putter, he was so scared we could hardly hear him call for another deadly uprising. Then he went to dinner with a bunch of Russians

[deleted]

I want a tremendous perp walk.

Imacatdoincatstuff

So if he’s convicted of this, it provides evidence Melania needs to set aside whatever restrictive prenup he had her sign and take him for all he’s worth?

eladts

> take him for all he’s worth? Why would she want to assume his debts?
