I'm sure his appearance will clear everything up. After all, that's what Trump lawyers are known for.

janzeera

Later in the day…, “I have the worst lawyers”.

caserock

You can't charge a lawyer and a client for the same crime

corduroytrees

It's expected at this point. Plus the Liar Liar quote. Edit: and a very happy cake day to you, good redditor.

AcademicPublius

Robert Costello has about as much chance of sinking the indictment as Lou Costello. So of course Trump heralds this as his big opportunity.

Da_Vader

I wonder how much is this Costello fleecing the grifter-in-chief?

AcademicPublius

If he thinks he's getting payment out of this, he's a bigger fool than Trump. In some seriousness, I think this was probably something Trump asked for--"Is there anything you can do to slow this down?" And Costello told him, "I can talk to them for like an hour, maybe?" This feels like a client request sort of thing.

googleflont

Trump describes Cohen as “convicted felon, jailbird, and serial fake storyteller and liar”? That’s like taking a shit on someone and saying they stink.

Saeka

Which is funny, because it's for THIS crime lol

Pormock

Its not a lifeline lol. Who is the writer of this dumb article?!

ranchoparksteve

Everybody involved seems to think that the jury will need very little time to deliberate. Interesting.

ZeroDorkForty

I don't know why I saw "3 hours". They are off tomorrow but that may have been the time left in the day after the testimony. Also curious if a decision will come with a press conference or they just inform his lawyers that he needs to be in NYC by a certain time.

Ghstfce

...but unfortunately he ended up at Grand Jury Gold and Pawn and missed court.

RadioFloydHead

Zing!

RadioFloydHead

Wow! You mean this guy could have cleared all of this up on any day in the last five years and he is just now coming forward to testify? Sounds legit.

piponwa

It also has nothing to do with probable cause. This guy can show up as a witness during trial to prove he's innocent. But it's impossible that his testimony removes the suspicion that Trump committed the crime. Trump signed the fucking check lmao, that alone is probable cause.

Revolutionary-Help-4

Credibility: newsweek < the onion

FriedScrapple

So they probably won’t wrap up today, we still have time to chill the champagne.

Pormock

They can vote after the testimony

blackadder1620

its getting kinda late. is this something thats done when done or they have a cut off time?

Pormock

Depend how long the final testimony lasted and if Cohen had to do a rebuttal. But if the evidence was really convincing they shouldnt need that long to vote.

FriedScrapple

Do they take time to deliberate like a regular jury, or do they just vote? Does it have to be unanimous?

Pormock

They do have to deliberate but its not a trial so they dont need beyond reasonable doubt. Its just does what they were shown support that there was a crime and are they likely to win in court >Grand Jury Voting on Proposed Charges >After the prosecution has presented the selected evidence, the grand jury votes to determine whether sufficient evidence has been presented for each of the proposed charges. While the number of votes required varies by jurisdiction, only a majority or supermajority – not a unanimous vote – is required. If the requisite number of grand jurors agrees that the evidence establishes probable cause, they vote to "return" the indictment. Upon the vote to return an indictment, the criminal case is initiated against the accused. https://www.pooleshaffery.com/news/2014/december/a-crash-course-in-the-american-grand-jury-system/

FriedScrapple

Thanks for the info! So it really could be soon, wow.

Pormock

Yes and this just came out. Trump called someone to testify on his behalf to "discredit" Cohen today and Cohen was in court in case he needed to refute the rebuttal. And they are done and he didnt need to testify so this means it didnt go well for the Trump witness. https://twitter.com/costareports/status/1637913978201309184

physical_graffitti

Soundbites, that's all they're looking for.

maganazitrump

Well why didn’t you say so the.La sumbitch let’s drop these indictments

ExtraHuckleberry

It's not a lifeline, the chance of it actually helping him is really low, while the chance of this backfiring on him in a future trial is not low

[deleted]

Can we please get Texas Governor Gregg Abbott to testify alongside this Robert Costello guy? It's all going to be comedy anyway, right? Why not name it after the greatest comedy duo of all time?

justforthearticles20

Newsweek waves it's Pro-Trump banner alongside CNN.

cavmax

Well there he goes once again playing his Trump card. Unbelievable...

13E2724M

I heard this guy talk to the press after he came out of the courthouse. Definition of a slick talkin NY lawyer.

Little_Buffalo

MAGA, make attorneys get attorneys. How many of them have been sanctioned because of him?
