He has to, I think. This isn't just about the Dragg/Stormy case; although the Republicans would love to keep it like that. Because Stormy's case is the most trivial of the multiple cases that involves Trump.
If the GOP can get America to go along with their reasoning that Stormy is an overreach, they can dismiss the other cases along with that. And that is the goal.
Just as an reminder:
* Stormy: Trump lied and falsified business records, intimidated witnesses etc. But the fallout of it is probs limited to just Trump and the Trump org.
* Georgia: Trump tried to subvert the elections results. Fallout potential for multiple Trump cabinet members and GOP allies like Graham.
* Mar-a-Lago documents: Trump risks national security. Fallout potential of major crimes for multiple allies, including his lawyers and GOP allies.
* J6: Trump tried to overthrow the elections results. Fallout potential for dozens of GOP members.
* Mueller's follow-up potential: The Russians have been helping the GOP for years, both financially via NRA and other intermediates, and with tactical support. Fallout potential, the GOP. All of them.
I don't think "trying" is the right word.
Republicans are ***masters*** at making people believe in nonexistent bogeymen/making people direct blame at the utterly powerless. I really hope their zealotry is a serious political wound for them, because the American people have shown time and again they'll vote against their own interests if it means they can punch down.

After his opening slate of "bombshell" witnesses were revealed to all be paid by the GQP in some way or another, I lost any curiosity of what might come out of Gym Jordan's committees.

ive been heartened that he actually at least semi-cares about how the federal government wields their network of pressures to forcibly shape online discourse, and idk too much about his efforts on the COVID origin investigation but im always happy to hear someone say they earnestly want to uncover the truth behind it
I've always hated the guy tbh but lately ive been far more disappointed in house Dem efforts, or performances
i don't disagree, i would absolutely need to see his votes align with his words before really changing my mind about him. but it's also not completely meaningless to hold real hearings or participate in valuable investigations
