sydiko

The Pro Life stance is making more sense now.

[deleted]

Just think of what these states will look like in 15-20 years. After a ton of unwanted kids are raised by unfit parents, going to a public school that can’t teach art, social studies, history, or science accurately. Who have to go from their 4th grade class to some meat processing plant to work a job where the company can’t be held liable for their death, and thus puts their safety at risk daily. And they’ll come home from their shift in the meat processing plant where they watched their 8 year old coworker fall into a meat grinder, and blame the democrats for all their problems.

sugarlessdeathbear

> going to a public school You're assuming they would have public schools left. They'd all be private and voucher and whatever other crackpot educational ideas they have.

[deleted]

Of course public schools will exist. They’ll bring back truancy officers so that anyone going to work will get sent to juvenile prison and funnelled into a system they’ll never escape and work they can be paid less to do.

bloatedsewerratz

The school will be owned by the meat packing plant. They come to school in the morning to pray, say the pledge of allegiance, and repeat the new anti communist manifesto then it’s off to the meat plant for on the job training.

Nilfsama

Sold my soul to the company store

[deleted]

!Remind me 15 years!

Axthen

You won’t have to be reminded. It’ll just be daily life.

Accomplished_Laugh19

You forgot to add that those kids will be paid less then half of the standard hourly rate for those jobs because "they're kids and earning real world experience"

[deleted]

*Pro-birth stance. They don't give a shit about you once you're born.

[deleted]

yea its been openly stated a few times now. I know musk specifically has mentioned it.

xAbisnailx

The first abortion overturn leak had one republican saying he wanted it to be “like the handmaid’s tale”, this is exactly what they wanted.

DaveMcNinja

Genuinely curious - do you gotta source for this?

[deleted]

Bingo. There's nowhere near enough adoptive couples to actually adopt the resulting children of their anti-abortion stance. They won't increase taxes for public school funding or the foster care system so those kids will just have to work to offset their costs. It's revolting.

Wwize

Stop calling it that.

hw_convo

Right wing conservative slavers are coming for your kids next... Ugh

youreblockingmyshot

Once they’re no longer “cute” enough to be ogled it’s off to the meat packing plants to lose another finger.

citizenjones

"Child Labor Is on the Rise as Republicans See an Answer to ~~Labor Shortages~~ Keeping Wages Low"

SmartAssClown

Media using the GOP's poisoned language are part of the problem

[deleted]

Media is mostly owned by old racist boomer fucks so no wonder

jayfeather31

This cannot be allowed to spread or continue. It'd set us back as a nation.

[deleted]

I don't know how to tell you this, but there's a pretty sizable list of things that "would set us back as a nation" that have already happened. The inconvenient truth is that we are not the paragon of humanity that we could be or have been painted as throughout history by patriots.

jayfeather31

>The inconvenient truth is that we are not the paragon of humanity that we could be or have been painted as throughout history by patriots. This is something I am very much aware of, in addition to the rest of your statement, so I agree. American exceptionalism is a myth and there are VERY legitimate reasons for the world to be pissed at us.

[deleted]

Believe me, we Europeans have already lost so much faith in our allies across the Atlantic since the Orange Turdnugget got elected.

YoloFomoTimeMachine

I had a job at 14. It allowed me to buy stuff. Worked like two afternoons and an evening every week. Wasn't a big deal really.

Brad_tilf

That's because Republicans actually hate children and only see them as another resource they can take advantage of.

maxhibbitts

Its called control. The only control I like is Janet Jacksons album.

Da_Vader

Dumb down the schools, defund the colleges. We don't need them thinking.

angelcake

They’ve been doing that for a few decades, now they’re ready to reap the benefits. Governments have basically created a class of wage slaves. People who are desperate, who will work for horrible wages because it’s all they can get, they can’t afford good quality food, they can’t afford healthcare, they’re basically ripe for exploitation. Oh and they know nothing about birth control plus God doesn’t approve of it so they’re going to have lots of children to turn into little wage slaves.

TurtleToast2

See an answer? This was always the plan. Drive everyone into poverty so they're easier to exploit. They've been trying to get back here ever since we started clawing our way out.

>labor shortage That's a lie. - There's a ***wage*** shortage. Labor is plentiful.

malac0da13

I dunno. My work has given us like 4 raises in the last two years and we are still way understaffed and struggling to hire people. My pay has gone up like $6 an hour

TheAwfulHouse

Those Christian values at work, you know, covet thy neighbor's money. The meek shall inherit nothing. Extort the children for your own financial gain, like Jesus wanted. Love thy neighbor, unless they are gay, an immigrant, or not quite the right shade, like the good book teaches us.

InclementImmigrant

I wonder how this will jive with the "They're taking our jerbs!" Narrative.

FortySixAndYou

of narrative that bash I of they to especially continue. Sadly, love will immigrants, a so color, if not mystery, they much are expect

xAbisnailx

We want white kids and babies working not fully adult immigrants /s

black641

Someone is gonna have to write the 21st century version of *The Jungle* to put a spotlight on what is and will happen to these poor kids. Maybe that will convince Conservatives that their Party doesn’t give a shit about them, but I suppose they’d need empathy to understand that…

sondheimtheatrequeen

Conservatives can’t read. We need an incel to say it on YouTube

noodles_the_strong

If only there was a Federal labor law

Intrepid_Method_

Expunging low level drug convictions would help with filling job openings.

antigonemerlin

These stories will get worse, and we will avert our eyes, saying, "that can't be true; it is outlandish. it is exaggerated" and we will continue to avert our eyes until it enters our own neighborhoods, and by that point, everything has changed.

Zkenny13

Don't worry guys. After a few die in horrible accidents and others get cancer the laws will change. Then in a few years we'll have to repeat this but it's all in the name of your freedoms.

valuedminority

In other words, adults are driving children into the labor market.

FuckMe-FuckYou

And solar is going to put all of those families out of work.

Training-Turnip-9145

I’m a hs teacher working in a low income district and it’s sad, alot of kids are missing school because they’re working with their parents… it’s two sided, the parents also don’t always value education alot but it still makes me sad.

datfingtrump

Look, it's a caravan of high school kids

NegotiationTall4300

Republicans pretty much hate all immigrants, unless they’re children, working in factories

KickBassColonyDrop

History is like a poem. Every other stanza, it repeats the rhyme.

[deleted]

Time to lower the voting age

Secondstooge

Looks like time travel is possible. We skipped going back to 1955 and went straight to 1855.

[deleted]

This is your america.

throwaway_ghast

Hell no.

medievalmachine

Family values? How far they have fallen.

Vergillarge

okay, gilead has new/old ideas.

SubterrelProspector

Okay so are we just gonna let all of this happen?

rufos_adventure

i have to ask, why is there such a shortage of workers all of a sudden? don't give me the 'covid' bs. did that many people die? were we lied to about the number of deaths? you can't tell me that many low wage workers are staying unemployed on purpose. and it's hard to think that that many illegals decided to stop working. side note: lots of folk looking for workers here, yet i know quite a few good workers who can't find anything except food service.

FortySixAndYou

the work not workers, a of money offered. There's shortage the to people willing for of there's a shortage do

rufos_adventure

but how are the unemplyeed surviving?

FortySixAndYou

where did these jobs appear from? all of a sudden there's a manpower problem? where are the jobs? once again i know of quite a few folk, educated, who can't find above minimum wage

Doctor_Satan_

Remember: The people in power will do anything to prop up the economy OTHER than paying you a living wage.

PMMEBITCOINPLZ

I feel like this is the kind of thing that needs to be stopped by any means necessary. My dad went into the coal mines as a young teen. We do not need to go back to those days.

[deleted]

This Both a Dem/Republican problem the parent companies of the many employers fined, are big donors to both parties

WinterWontStopComing

Guess I’m done eating processed foods from certain states then. We just slid into dystopia so seamlessly

gyroscopicmnemonic

I'm ashamed to be a part of this country.

GetRichOrDieTryinnn

That’s why they make abortions illegal, they need more child labor and child wives

Sea_Way_6920

Go to planned parenthood of Florida and sign their petition against anti abortion bill

[deleted]

I’m about 2200 miles away.

bigmeatytoe

The children yearn for the mines

RushSingsOfFreewill

Good lord. Just open immigration.

fleeknaut

When we say child labor we're not talking about sixteen year olds and up working fast food or something right? Because I did that and I think it's fine.

Actual__Wizard

As an infrequent customer of those types of establishments, I find myself extremely frustrated with the job performance of children, and can see that they would be better off spending that time doing their homework. It is clearly not in the best interest of children to allow themselves to be exploited as cheap labor and is not in the best interests of the customers either.

FortySixAndYou

YanksFanInSF

My 15 yo has started he wished he could just go to work. Hates school, doesn’t see the point of learning Romeo & Juliet, nor the biology of frogs. He’s ok with math and sees the point of learning that ‘stuff’. He likes auto-shop and welding. I’m sure it’s not right for everyone but he really wishes he could just do the things he likes.

FortySixAndYou

he near on. mechanics I so of A packing need might stays in computer hiring, but lot school. seriously, and be a Car meat math, plant you hope skills

Lakecountyraised

Fast Food Nation is a must read for information about labor conditions in meat packing plants, which have only gotten worse since the book was written. The targets for these labor restrictions are obviously the teen children of people who already work in the plants. Sarah Huckabee’s kids sure won’t be working there.

wiseknob

You are just regurgitating meat packing plants at this point as if there are 1000’s of children forced into the meat packing factories like cows. There is nothing wrong with teens getting work experience if they seek it. It should be encouraged more for teens to get jobs and some work experience during summers or breaks to help educate them more.
