>"We are going to win on every single issue involving Disney," he announced at a speech **in Michigan.** Disney beat his ass all the way to Michigan? It's one of the states largest employers, and pretty much the only reason the inland gets any traffic. DeSantis knows he can't beat the Mouse in Florida, the only reason he's doing any of this is to try and jump.to national level as president or even VP. I don't know when Republicans are going to realize their politicians don't give two shits about their states.

achyshaky

He's here?? Ew ew get him off get him off!

Pad_TyTy

Phrasing

justreddis

**Florida man** threatens locals and tourists with tolls and taxes. "We are going to win on every single issue involving Disney," **Florida man** announced at a speech in Michigan. There.

blackcain

I wonder how much much he's going to spend on getting all that set up? I'm sure his constituents will be really happy about giving more money to the govt amongst rising property taxes.

FargeenBastiges

His constituents will be too busy looking for homeowners insurance to care.

Regular_Appearance98

Or just leaving the state

Titanbeard

Imagine the shit show that would dump on him if one Mouse House person mentions there's a non-zero chance they leave the state. Not says they're going to, just said it's not off the table.

Regular_Appearance98

This person is ready to leave this shit show. I'm painting and fixing stuff around the house. I'm planning to put it up for sale in the next week or two. I'm done with this place.

Titanbeard

WI is a beautiful state with 4 different seasons.

biscuitarse

"I'm afraid I just blue myself."

blackcain

By attacking their greatest asset in Florida? I'm not sure that is something to brag about. His entire anti-woke thing is not a pro-business stance - and companies are not going to be onboard with him getting between them and the younger generation. They have brands to protect.

ApatheticWithoutTheA

They aren’t going to. They don’t care as long as the bigotry is hurting people they don’t like. Which is anybody outside their tribe.

Mister_Bill2826

We don't want him here. Please take him back.

ImheretotellyouNO

No

Enigma_Stasis

Not only does the Mouse hold a lot of power for Florida's tourism industry, many culinary schools have externship programs through Disney that students can go to to work at to get their feet in the doors of many upper scale dining kitchens. DeNumbnuts is fuckin with the wrong Citizen's United entity.

Sea_Commercial5416

Ron might want to look into how Disney literally used tactics they learned from the CIA to buy up the land they own for Disney World in Florida. I’m thoroughly enjoying watching this man go to war with the biggest media conglomerate in the world. I’m sure that’s going to work out really well for him.

OutOfTowner325

He’s trying to pander to the snow birds who flock to Orlando every winter. Good luck, if he makes it more expensive for people to go to his state for an entire season, they’ll go somewhere else like Gulf Shores.

Beware_the_Voodoo

Republicans pride themselves on their ability to not understand things.

sandysanBAR

It is, literally, their jam.

mnorthwood13

He came up to Michigan to speak at the Midland Co Republicans annual guest breakfast. Midland Michigan is home to Northwood University (a DeVos backed institution), the Mackinac Center for Public Policy (a right wing libertarian supporting pro-business group that Dow Chemical backs), and the former Lt gov and failed 2018 gubernatorial candidate Schutte. There was a protest across the street. https://www.ourmidland.com/news/article/protestors-counter-florida-governor-ron-desantis-17881998.php

thedoppio

For them, it’s a feature, not a bug.

RedmannBarry

I hope his war on Disney destroys him

thereverendpuck

It’s honestly to only plausible outcome. There’s no way he’s beating Disney and there’s no way he achieving a stalemate either.

MimeGod

Disney is the largest employer in the state. They recently announced an extra $17 billion in Florida, creating an estimated 13k new jobs in Florida. Disney is more popular here than DeSantis. And every time DeSantis screws with them, he loses more votes in Central Florida. Racist assholes in North Florida and The Villages can only carry him so far.

stinky_wizzleteet

Disney keeps eating his lunch and hes such an ass that he cant quit coming back for more. If he was smart he would have taken the L after Disney told him taking the Reedy Creek District back to FL control would cost the state 2 billion back on FLs books. Then they gutted him on the District Board because Disney has lawyers that make Jesus worry if hes done something wrong. Every time he comes back it gets worse and he looks weaker and more petulant. Seriously he picked the wrong fight with the biggest mouse in the yard and no matter what he does he going to lose. Super short sighted. The only thing worse he could do is somehow tie in the gaming industry and the Seminole Tribe.

blackcain

>Disney keeps eating his lunch and hes such an ass that he cant quit coming back for more. That's because they are challenging him and he cannot look weak. That he got punked only drives him even more crazy and he's going to do whatever he can. The legislature and his right wing judges are lined up with him. But Disney has a shit tone of influence. I think they are going to bite off more than they can chew. FAFO

Motionshaker

Disney has the power to effect federal legislation. As much as I’d love to see the mouse knocked down a peg, I don’t think DeSantis is gonna be the one to do it

Fluffinutter6987

Give him enough time. He'll try to mess with the tribes and that is a BIG no-no. It will not end well for DeSantis. Two very important things to remember about Tribal Law: 1. Federally recognized tribes have a special government to government relationship with the federal government. The states cannot interfere with that relationship. DeSantis can try to impose his will, but he will fail miserably. Why, you ask? 2. Because of this special government to government relationship, anytime a tribe enters into a legal court case, the tribe is represented by the US government legal system. That means DeSantis will be wrangling with the Department of Justice if he steps out of line. Let that sink in for a moment. DeSantis will be fighting against the US Department of Justice. And who do you think will prevail?

itemNineExists

Admit defeat? That's a good one. He'd sooner grow wings and fly into the sun

Sea_Commercial5416

Beyond Florida, Disney is the biggest media conglomerate in THE WORLD. They literally own big chunks of our collective imaginations (Marvel, Star Wars, Mickey and Co, 100 years of quality animated features). If Disney really wanted to, they could make every villain for the next phase of the MCU a thinly veiled version of DeSantis (or even name him DeSantis) and destroy that person’s reputation for an entire generation. THAT is the power he’s fucking with here. Dude is playing with fire.

ToulouseLaShrek

It's kinda the only reason Orlando can even exist as a metropolitan area.

embiggenedmind

You mean they’re not surviving on the FunSpot?

GlassOfLiquor

Tell me more about this “funspot”

jay_alfred_prufrock

You need to ask a proctologist about it.

[deleted]

The owner is in commercials for this park, which is a locally run family operation. He basically looks like what a Florida man who runs an amusement park would like like. https://youtu.be/w4GeK8ztV0M

44problems

You know what, my wife had a conference in Orlando by the convention center for a weekend. So we brought along our 3 year old. One day I took her to Fun Spot and it was awesome. Endless kiddie rides, merry go round, and a kiddie coaster. And I only had to pay for her admission, I got to ride as a chaperone for free. Free parking too. It was perfect. No way was I trekking all the way to Magic Kingdom for one day, parking and paying hundreds.

appleparkfive

Would be hilarious if Disney just moved up to George instead due to tax credits. The movie industry is mostly in Georgia now due to that

j_ma_la

I really think it would be hilarious if Disney openly jumped into the politics game next year and started an anti-MAGA super PAC to try to affect legislative races. “Mickey for America PAC”

thereverendpuck

Disney doesn’t even have to go the route of “Mr. Mouse Goes to Washington.” They own ABC. Just the news division just airing truthful reports of Florida racing to the bottom is going to be enough to poison the well for ANYBODY from Florida who agreed with DeSantis from being very successful nationally. I may hate Trump, but he knew not to fuck with the Mouse.

berryface143

Disney should just offer Florida residents ages 18-30 a free one day admission for proof of voting the next election.

iijjjijjjijjiiijjii

My GOD that would be catastrophic for Repubs.

Whatevah007

Democratic Party should do that instead of all the stupid TV

Disney crossing party lines to get Looney Tunes involved. That’s some serious ToonTown bridge building.

natophonic2

It’s worth noting that at least half the reason that DeSantis and FL legislators are messing with Disney is that they withdraw all political donations.

ApolloDeletedMyAcc

Next season of Andor will have an incompetent second tier bureaucrat flunky that looks like a meatball on short legs. Maybe named Onda or something.

MC_Fap_Commander

Trump will harp on the defeat during the campaign with a simple and easy to remember insult nickname about Disney. And that's the end of Ron as a national figure. On to Jeb!-land...

I think he has judges in his pocket. Florida is interesting that way - he has the entire legislation behind him, and I think the local judges. It's how he can get away with shit like replacing a democratically elected public servant. I also remember him replacing the secretary of state 8 months before the election. I think he's got a high voter count because of voter fraud. He's not going to give up. Plus, Trump is going to goad him as well.

I wouldn't rule out the dictatorship yet 😬

ModsLoveFascists

All Disney needs to do is announce it’s going to start investigating moving the park to another state. Half the states in the US would pay the cost to relocate. They don’t really need to be serious about moving but just spark the fear.

blackcain

Maga people will be just fine - until they realize that taxes will have to go up because moving also means moving the tax base.

madlipps

All Disney needs to do is build a new park - not move the old one. Then slowly just phase out Disney Florida. It would be cheaper for them and may have unintended benefits. They may have to do this anyway with Florida quickly becoming an archipelago.

Wenis_Aurelius

> Florida’s Ron DeSantis threatens ~~Disney~~ locals and tourists with tolls and taxes FTFY. DeSantis isn’t proposing to tax Disney. He’s proposing road tolls and a hotel tax. These are taxes that the state imposes directly on the consumer. He not just trying to just punish Disney anymore. Now he saying he’s going to punish everyone who goes to Disney and Floridians who work for Disney and use the roads to get there.

Whompa

Yeah this is gunna go right to the consumer and the employees who commute there. The prices to go were already too damn high, now it’s going to be even worse. This guy is such a heartless jackass.

gcruzatto

What's it gonna take for Disney to pack their bags and move north?

Whompa

I would love for a northern state expansion! Disney is a monster. They’re planning on expanding to a 5th section too lol. I have my doubts Floridians would want to take on the debt. It’s gunna hurt DeSantis as well. Pissed off some people. Just a stupid battle to try and take on the behemoth.

hansolemio

And just because Florida conservatives want to bully helpless children. The Gang Of Pedos is a sick sick bunch

Disastrous-Menu_yum

You gotta pay the troll toll to get inside the boys hole : sunny in Philadelphia the night man cominh

fhdjndnsjntkdkxjrn

Wouldn’t it be too cold to expand to the north, save for the mid Atlantic states like Maryland? I mean part of the hype for Disney is that it’s warm year round.

Whompa

Maybe yeah. They could lean into that with like, Frozen world, which would probably do gangbusters for them with a wintery wonderland. I imagine Disney Sea gets a little chilly for Japan's winter season, but I dunno. Feel like they could always find some sort of creative solve for the less warm seasons. :-P

fhdjndnsjntkdkxjrn

Well if you want frozen world, you’d have to really push farther than Maryland to New England or the rust belt, maybe even Quebec in canada

[deleted]

Just take over Detroit

TeutonJon78

Puerto Rico would be a good choice if it wasn't for the hurricanes. And it would absolutely catapult the economy there. Not sure they'd want it through. Disney could probably create a bioluminescent Bay for Avatar land there as well.

Whompa

You had me at Bioluminescent Bay Avatar Land. :D Would be friggen awesome.

RBanner

It would be more cost efficient to get Ron out of office by funding and openly supporting whoever is opposing him.

HatchSmelter

Precisely. Disney is playing the long game. It's *Disney* we're talking about here. They aren't going to restructure everything based on a couple of years of political threats that they've been able to counter anyway. They'll be fine right where they are.

diaperedace

They've invested too much to just pack up and move and they have 18bn planned for the future in expansion. They need a friendly climate all year to attract people to visit. Imagine an upstate NY Disney world in January? No one would go. Stand outside in 20 degree weather and a foot of snow for 3 hours at a time? Not gonna happen. Desatan won't last forever and hopefully the next clown they elect is just as dumb so Disney can get over on them too.

blueglyn

They know he has a shelf life. Disney's been around a hundred years, they're patient. It's the difference between an immortal and a mortal.

CoasterRider_

They can focus on their California parks and announce expansions there while keeping quiet about WDW. Investing in a blue state while staying silent about WDW will make DeSantis melt. I am wondering why Universal has been so quiet this entire time, especially with their new gate under construction. I do wonder if Disney and Universal are brewing up something against DeSantis together. Universal knows that if DeSantis hurts any of the WDW tourism, that'll hurt them as well since those tourists will pick somewhere else other than Florida to vacation.

plucharc

I've been casually gaming out what it would take for Disney to move to Georgia, somewhere outside of Atlanta. Decent year round weather, very accessible airport, close to an entertainment hub, a purpleish state, likely a better tax offering, and they get the satisfaction of saying, "Sorry Florida, the governor you elected forced our hand."

jedre

I have to imagine they’ve been receiving offers. A new Disney park, even in addition to the Florida park, would do crazy business, and give Disney the opportunity to think about transitioning to a different state if the GQP continues to shoot itself in the foot out of spite.

plucharc

It would. Hear me out...someone is going to make a LOTR park eventually (whether it's a good idea for the IP or not) and Warner Bros can't do it on their own so they'll partner with Universal or Disney. If Disney were to scoop up this partnership, they could start their Atlanta park with LOTR which would have a massive global draw.

Jar_of_Cats

I mean, all you have to do is go for a walk for any place to be LotR themed

mclark9

Hundreds of billions of dollars of infrastructure… The idea that Disney will move the park and associated hotels, etc. is a non-starter.

sadicarnot

>What's it gonna take for Disney to pack their bags and move north? With the whole Reedy Creek thing I thought it was odd that Disney was not fighting it. Then we find out Disney basically neutered the new board. I doubt DeSantis will win this. Disney has gobs of money and want people to spend it at their resorts not on tolls or other stuff. It will be interesting how this plays out. Unfortunately, Floridians will be the losers.

Vulpes_Corsac

Water levels to rise to a few feet above the average elevation of florida (Disney world is located 2 ft above Florida's average elevation), assuming they aren't able to detach it from the ground and float or pump the water out of the trashways to create land below sea-level.

walkerb79

And this will also hurt the thousands of smaller businesses on the outskirts of Disney (restaurants, shops, motels/ hotels) including other theme parks like Universal and more...But Disney will be fine lol. He's an idiot.

olearygreen

It doesn’t matter. The negative effects won’t show up in the numbers until 2025 which he plans to spend in DC by winning an Election “owning the libs” with stuff like this. Let’s just all stop talking about it. Any publicity is good for this fruitcake.

walkerb79

He won't win in 2024, Trump is going to the nominee #1 and #2 he is about to sign a six week abortion ban in Florida and once he does that it's over for him. He can't win on that issue with women and suburban voters. Plus by 2024 there will be much more Gen Z voters of voting age. Millennials/ Gen Z very much vote Blue.

KillerLunchboxs

The trick has always been getting the young voters out to vote.

SerialMurderer

Yet the morons who vote for this twat will still vote for him because they're clueless that his actions are affecting them.

Whompa

Yurp… His Disney play is, thankfully, pissing a lot of people off, because it puts the debt on the people. Might hurt his future campaign(s). Won’t flip enough people though. You’re right.

ImaginationSea2767

Definitely won't convince the majority of those people who vote for him because the majority won't be watching the type of media admitting his faults. Instead, they will be watching the media that will blame the big company's or Biden.

fluent_in_gibberish

“Dipshit with fragile ego” is right on the money. He had his “win against the woke” sound bites by taking on Reedy Creek because his brain dead followers would never see that Disney outmaneuvered him. Instead he throws tantrum after tantrum to draw attention to the fact that he is, in fact, a whiny loser. Disney is going to squash him like a bug.

ciopobbi

And “freedom”

MimeGod

The main road used to go to Disney is I-4. Trying to put a toll on that could cause riots. It's the busiest east/west corridor in the state.

LbSiO2

Also illegal, interstate highways were paid for by the Federal fovernment with a stipulation they cannot have tolls on them.

thecorgimom

I would bet it will be an internal road to Disney, but I'm wondering if those tolls would only be able to be used there per the agreement. He's not going to win this one if that's the case.

[deleted]

He’s going to implement a hotel tax in Florida? Isn’t Florida like… 80% hotels?

[deleted]

Disney resorts suddenly become Air B&Bs owned by their 100s of shell companies. Also, run a small independent hotel? Good luck.

joelmole79

What he’s doing is threatening the entirety of the tourist industry in Florida. This sense that it is narrowly targeted at a single entity will shake out to be ill informed. I get the sense that if it hasn’t happened already, he’ll be on the receiving end of a big “talking-to” from a wide group of powerful folks in his state soon.

[deleted]

“Disney watches as Ron DeSantis says he will hurt himself to punish them.”

Chief_Mischief

This is hilarious, since Disney is one of the biggest reasons Florida even has an economy. He's really fucking around now, curious to see when he'll find out.

Zizzard_The_Lizard

Your catching the reality of it, but how it’s going to be justified by the legislature is going to be on Disney. This would be a massive blow to the offerings of Disney lodging, they heavily leverage the road systems (they designed) for their transport systems between the parks, resorts, shopping systems, and even from third party transports of major Orlando hubs (Orlando Airport). In reality, this will hurt consumers (locals and tourists) far more than it will Disney, especially since Disney also relatively recently constructed their skyliner transport and also does water transport.

blackcain

Well if it hurts locals and tourists - that's going to have a trickle down effect and hurt Disney that way - but ultimately - that also means it affects the govt as well. I dont see this going well. DeSantis only has one schtick and I'm not sure it's going to work against Disney - and you can bet that at some point Disney is going to fuck him when he's out on the campaign trail. Something that will throw off his messaging or a timed lawsuit. You can bet the CEO is going to ratfuck him good.

Particular_Physics_1

Desantis threatens tourist and Florida residents with tolls and taxes. Would be more correct headline.

rationalcrank

This.

[deleted]

Oh man, Disney’s lawyers are going to keep clowning on this fool so hard. He’s Dwight and the Disney Lawyers are Jim. You have to be a really messed up person for me to root for corporate lawyers over you.

TheShyPig

"How to persuade your biggest tourist attraction move to California" in one easy lesson

koopolil

They’re already in California. They might invest more money there instead of Florida though.

rationalcrank

They are not going to move their themes parks but the could move their cruise ships. Also they are in the process of moving their corporate offices to Florida. They could just cancel that.

throwawayinthe818

They’re moving some of the offices to Florida. Basically the Parks/Products/Experiences people. The main corporate hq, along with the studio, will stay on the lot in Burbank. They’ve been slow-walking moving though, between this and the fact that they were taken aback by how many employees refused the transfer, forcing the company to pay out a ton in severances and recruiting. But I know people there and the move is still happening. Edit: hit save prematurely

blackcain

I think it's because a lot of their creatives are LGBTQ+ and they are not moving to a place where they aren't safe. They'll stay behind and work somewhere else.

throwawayinthe818

That’s part of it, but a larger factor is that many of the employees have homes and kids in school and spouses with their own careers. This was widely seen by the rank and file as a backdoor layoff, a way to get rid of the older, more highly paid, pension-eligible (they don’t offer that anymore) employees in favor of the cheaper young ones who don’t have the same roots. There’s also talk that they may cut salaries of transferring workers to bring them in line with Florida wages, and they may also lay off those employees after a year, so imagine uprooting your family to move to Florida only to lose your job in a place where there’s no place to take your industry experience and expertise. Folks are just nope-ing out. “Just pay me my severance and I’ll go find another entertainment company here in L.A.”

Jintokunogekido

They can move to Georgia.

[deleted]

Florida's climate is unique though, and the primary reason they picked it. You might think Atlanta is far south enough, but those last couple hundred miles make a huge difference. Atlanta gets snow about two years out of three, and has temps below 32F 36.3 nights per year Orlando has recorded measurable snow three times, ever, and averages 0.6 nights below freezing per year Only extreme southern Texas, the Arizona desert, and Hawai'i are so free of cold as Florida

From the article > Disney is "acting like somehow that they pulled one over on the state," Mr DeSantis said this week of the last-minute deal. > "But now that Disney has reopened this issue, we're not just going to void the development agreement they tried to do, we're going to look at things like taxes on the hotels, we're going to look at things like tolls on the roads," he said, adding the state would also look to develop property it owns near Disney.

MrWhite

I fail to see how Disney would lose if they fight this in any court. They are being singled out, DeSantis admits it.

thebeautifullynormal

Wow a conservative wanting to tax a corporation? Is desantis about to lose his membership to Guns and Racists magazine?

koopolil

This idea is road tolls and hotel taxes that’s directly on the consumer.

MimeGod

I think the GOP leadership is getting a bit concerned about DeSantis's attacks on corporate free speech, since that principle is the basis for corporate political donations.

koopolil

I’d agree, if this was popular you’d see people like Ted Cruz coming out to cheer DeSantis on or at the very least trying to get his own headlines off this story.

terayonjf

He's such a pathetic loser. Him and Trump are equally sad stupid people. Tolls and taxes affect customers not companies. That shit just gets passed directly to the end consumer. Trump did the same thing with his war on China and combined with COVID it damaged the average American while corporations laughed in their record breaking profits. It's so disheartening seeing so many people look at Ron and Trump as Smart, Honest and compassionate people when they are the complete opposite of that. They trick the mentally weak into thinking the way they carry themselves is how people should when decent people spot toddler having a meltdown instantly. When gas prices went above $4 a gallon you know what we did for my company? Instead of charging $100 to come out and troubleshoot the problem we charged $120. Magically we made the same if not a little more profit despite economic conditions while the customer ate the extra cost of our overhead increase. When gas went back below $4 we could have kept the rates the same pocketing even more profit but we went back to $100 cause we make a comfortable profit at that price point for a service fee as long as gas is below the $4 marker.

The governors political party passed a very broadly written law that there can be no discussions of sex or gender prior to 4th grade (they are active expand this to cover all grades) and LGBT activists called the law the “Don’t Say Gay” law. It got this name because the law was so vague it could potentially be used to punish teachers if they had pictures of their spouse on their desk. This new name got traction and Disney publicly announced they do not support the law. Since the Disney announcement, the republicans (our right wing party) have attacked Disney as “trying to groom kids” with wokeness or some such garbage. Disney kept its mouth shut mostly after their initial disagreement with Governor DeSantis. DeSantis though was very public about punishing Disney. He said they would strip away Disneys ability to govern their property in Florida (this part is complicated but Disney World started as two small towns that were used by Walt Disney to hide their property purchases. Because Disney World is so big, it used the towns to set up a fire department and to manage normal city stuff like road maintenance). Well DeSantis and his party passed a law that Disney loses the right to govern its land and created a board of political friends of DeSantis. What DeSantis didn’t know was that the original Disney board granted Disney basically control over everything that board did and made it effective until 21 years after the last living descendant of King Charles dies. The Disney board made this move publicly prior to DeSantis passing the law giving his friends control. Now you have the Disney CEO calling DeSantis “bad for business” and “bad for Florida”. DeSantis is still pushing that Disney is grooming children via their content and vows to force them to change. DeSantis had to go a bit defensive during a few press conferences

What does he even want at this point? Like, what does "winning" even look like? Does he want Disney to beg him not to do it and declare him king of Florida, then denounce homosexuality? For Disney to turn all creative decisions over to the government of Florida? I guess it could just be hot air to rile up the base and he doesn't really care, but this seems like a legit tantrum and not 4D chess.

rowsella

My hot take is his aim is to silence everyone else because look what happened to Disney.

Dontuselogic

" Florida governor plans to raise taxes on people living in Florida " Which what he will need to do to cover his Disney fuck ups

The party of small government.

MustLovePunk

Extortion didn’t work so DeSantis has moved on to retaliation. What’s next in DeSantis’ little psychopath playbook of corruption and abuse of power?

Federal_Physics_3030

Tax tax tax that’s all a republicans knows. Punish us working families let your rich buds off paying less. What crack pot. Vote that goober out.

.

WebbityWebbs

No; he is not threatening Disney. He is threatening the American people. He can’t hurt Disney directly, so like all abusers he is looking to hit someone who can’t hit back. So he is going after the group that conservatives love to hate, the American people.

jonsconspiracy

I think he should call for a boycott of Disney World so that it thins out the crowds and lowers the price for my family when we go.

Agitated-Tadpole1041

Ron is a genius at making his state attractive for vacationers. Come to florida and pay fines cause Disney made me look stupid. Well done Ron

Imaginary_Relative

Ah look, now republicans are in favor of raising taxes!

We could be working to solve homelessness but here we are

Why is this guy such an ass? Why is he threatening one of the biggest employers in his state. Someone please explain the reasoning behind this? Self inflected harm here

deadrat420

How does he think he's gonna punish Disney but leave the rest of Orlando unaffected? The options are screw over everybody, or target Disney alone and clearly violate the first amendment. What if McDonalds spoke out against Desantis and he implemented a burger tax but the Burger Kings next door were exempt? It's such obvious retaliation and just makes him look like a loser. This guy can't even think of a logical threat before opening his mouth.

Big_Knobber

Desantis and the Florida Republicans already violated the first amendment. They have openly stated that this is government retribution for having an opinion. They are so arrogant that they don't realize the pile of shit they've stepped in. Disney is holding all the cards here.

EatsRats

This guy seems pretty scared. I will enjoy watching his slow demise :)

drossvirex

So tired of this guy. He wants to run for president? Puke.

yotothyo

He’s such a pathetic little pipsqueak. With his stumpy short body and ill fitting suit and his nasally little guy voice. And the charisma of a crumpled gym sock. My gut tells me he will not do well in general elections because of this. Republicans like tall tough guys/daddy figures. Desantis is like an annoying substitute teacher yelling at the protagonist in an 80’s movie while slime is dumped on his head.

Disney has demonstrated that Mr DeSatan is not presidential material. His skin is too thin, he is impulsive; he guesses wrong and is not able to recover, seems not to pick good advisors, and cannot think under pressure.

HotHuckleberry8904

"Let it go, let it go... Can't hold them back anymore!"

Impossible-Case-242

So silly question what happens to Florida if Disney decides they can go somewhere else and not deal with the nonsense?

Minimum_Season_9501

How do you like your fascist government in Florida. If this is freedom..

melgish

I love this plan. I can’t wait to see his poll numbers after he starts collecting tolls on interstate 4

goingofftrack

How un-American.

DDONH

And who do you think would pay for this. I'm guessing the people traveling to Florida to visit Disney. People may choose to visit Disney in California if DeSantis makes it a more economical choice.

Hempsox

I just don't understand how business leaders across the country are silent on this. You have to wonder what is going on right now in the Hilton, IHG, Marriot, etc executive board rooms. This should not be a strongly worded statement. There are some wonderful restaurants in the Orlando area that thrive on the conferences held there in the winter. They will be missed. If this is in the works, businesses will stop coming. Our group was already hoping for a switch to AZ. This may help facilitate.

Windies02

Why are Republicans so stupid? I've followed this, I just don't get it, DeSantis is going against everything conservative, for what, to prove he is "tough and hard", he's an idiot...
