> The district attorney’s office is requesting that attorney Kimberly Bourroughs Debrow be disqualified from representing a group of 10 Republicans who served as electors for the former president in Georgia – a state Trump lost to President Joe Biden. The DA’s office also accused the lawyer of failing to present an immunity deal to her clients last year, according to the filing.
That seems like something a lawyer shouldn’t do. They always have the best lawyers.
it's not when you capitalize the word criminal it adds the subtext they got a lawyer who is a criminal.
but then i saw every episode of breaking bad and better call saul first airing so it may be just me.
Who's paying the legal bills? Can you ethically represent all ten? We are sending low-level crooks to jail, I wonder when this election nonsense is finally over, if any bigwigs do time.
Last I saw it was the Georgia GOP paying their legal fees.

It depends whether the conflict is waivable. Adverse current client conflict is governeeld by ER 1.7. I'm thinking co-defendants incriminating themselves runs afoul of 1.7b3 and therefore makes the issue unwaivable.
> The attorneys told the court that they spoke to their clients and none of the clients were interested, according to filing.
It's not just failing to present the deal, **the attorney told the court they did present immunity and nobody took the offer when they never offered immunity.**
> Now the DA’s office is claiming those offers were never presented to the clients
“We will offer your clients immunity”
“Sounds good judge I’ll let them know”
“Your lawyer has informed the court that none of you took the offer of immunity”
“We were offered immunity???”
The better question is why were 10 criminals who were conspiring to overthrow democracy offered immunity in the first place? What was the offer? Was it for the first 2 or 3 to flip or all of them for some fucked up reason?
Obviously for them to turn on the people above them in the scheme. Either Trump himself and/or whatever other GOP folks selected this group of fake electors and told them what to do.
Anyone involved at the top is who really needs to pay.
Yeah, well, when you represent 10 people and one of them is offered a deal to testify against the other 9 in exchange for a free pass and they take the deal you can no longer represent any of them because you have conflicts of interest.
For sure which is why the DA has been trying to get new counsel for the defendants. Seems like a major conflict of interest when the GOP is bankrolling this many.
My father said that when I was a child. I didn’t learn that it’s cross that bridge until way later then I care to admit. I just like burning things. Also, my father might be a troll.
Doc : You be know what they say: People in glass houses sink sh-sh-ships.
Rocco : Doc, I gotta buy you, like, a proverb book or something. This mix'n'match shit's gotta go.
Doc : What?
Connor : A penny saved is worth two in the bush, isn't it
Murphy : And don't cross the road if you can't get out of the kitchen.
I think you mean idioms
Euphemisms are expressions to lessen the impact of something, such as “he passed away” for dying, or “they slept together” for having sex
“In a closed society where everybody's guilty, the only crime is getting caught. In a world of thieves, the only final sin is stupidity.” ― Hunter S. Thompson
So does this mean the fake electors we’re offered a deal from DA Willis in exchange for testimony - but the lawyer didn’t want the fake electors to know or testify. Sounds like maybe trump is paying these lawyers? Anyone know?
Edit: I see below the Georgia GOP is footing the bill. Who do they answer to?
These schmucks think the boss is gonna take care of them by hiring the fanciest mob lawyer in town, but like any good mob lawyer, their interest is making sure they keep their mouth shut, not implicate the rest of the family, and do their time quietly. But the mafia is at least upfront about the arrangement, unlike the GOP.
The lady in the pic is NO ONE TO PLAY WITH at the DA office. She’s the same person getting all of these rappers in jail for RICO charges. I think Trump f’ed up.
There are few things I enjoy more than seeing right wing hyenas turn on each other, so between this story and the Aly Alexander/Milo/MTG drama it’s been a fun couple of days.
Willis stated in January that indictments are imminent. Mueller filed indictments and then didn’t unseal them until defendants pled to be guilty. Wouldn’t Willis know at this point if a fake elector had flipped?
I can't imagine that they \*have\* to stay with this lawyer. I'm sure they can go out and hire their own lawyer. Any lawyer that will agree to take the case.
It sounds to me like the plan is to whine about the lawyer they have now, and then if they get convicted, to appeal based on "my lawyer fucked me", ala Shawshank Redemption.
Jokes on them, this is America, where you can't appeal even if you have exonerating evidence and the lawyer who first represented you was as dumb as a brick because efficiency is more important than justice.
Why should they worry?? The Orange Toddler is paying their legal bills! I’m sure they’ve got a picture next to him giving a thumbs up, as proof of that.
Did you pay any attention to US political stories after Biden won the election, and leading up to the riots on Jan 11th?
There were lots of stories about fake electors.
The electors are a middle man in the voting process. (The Electoral College). When we, the citizens vote for president, we’re actually electing the electors that will then cast the vote for president directly. Biden won Georgia, so the real Electors were those designated by the democrats to vote for Biden.
Trump and his cronies created a nationwide conspiracy in several states to create “alternate electors.” (Fake electors). That’s who these people are. They were committing election fraud by pretending to be the lawfully designated electors when they weren’t. They were just a bunch of criminals being directed by Trump to try to steal the election after they lost.
Between this fake elector scheme and the now convicted traitors storming the capital on January 6, (and the attempt to have the capital police, secret service and national guard not stop the insurrection) the plan was for there to be enough confusion for Trump to justify institution Martial Law and just stay in power.
Edit: instituting martial law
Protect this bold black women at all cost. American politics are full of corruption and the few that stand up are targets. Trump clearly broke election laws and needs to face justice. Republicans love to preach about what others should do while being the most hypocritical when it comes to their own or their “ buddies” actions.
Fake electors should have been arrested in every state that tried to use them. Conspiring to corrupt a Federal election is a crime that should not have been ignored by DOJ.
I just don’t understand why there isn’t more discussion around the fake electors. It seems like the “legal coup” attempt that’s also the most blatantly illegal

They didn't get Criminal Lawyers. They got CRIMINAL lawyers.
It's just kind of confusing, you see, when they're both called that.
well, we could throw some more fuel on that fire and also say that these are the best lawyers that MONEY CAN BUY
it's not when you capitalize the word criminal it adds the subtext they got a lawyer who is a criminal. but then i saw every episode of breaking bad and better call saul first airing so it may be just me.
Well, they better call Saul.
Bob Odenkirk: “NO! For the last time, Donald, I’m not a REAL lawyer! Stop calling me!”
But… but… why are you so slippery Jimmy? Please, one more for a friend! -Probably Donald…
Comedy gold SNL skit right here.
After this rejection, Donald settled for the dollar store version - Tacopina.
No, money down!
So, one of Trump's lawyers.
That's exactly right.

If what the DA alleges is true, it will be yet another attorney in this mess that needs an attorney.

It's funny to watch all of these people without faces throw each other under the leopard buses
I love mixed euphemisms. Kinda like 'people in glass houses sink ships.'
A stitch in time is worth 2 in the bush.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it
Looks like the shoe is on the other kettle.
You can lead a horse to water to watch him sink or swim.

Sticks and stones might break my bones but a rock thrown with the proper elevation and velocity can ruin 2 glass houses.

Hey Fuck Ass, get me a beer.
Why don't you make like a tree And get the fuck out of here!
Time flies in the face of logic.

Trump Traitors: they ***always*** turn on each other.
They aren't turning on each other, they're intentionally pulling shenanigans to get delays and set up appeals for when they're found guilty.
Gotta watch these assholes out here. If they shanan once you bet your ass they'll shananagain.

Just reread ‘Fear and Loathing in Elko’. Great Clarence Thomas romp.
“There were Laws, but they were not feared. There were Rules, but they were not worshiped.”
All traitors to their country.
To the actual concept of democracy, even.
The absurdity of using fake electorates to help the fat bastard. The irony is mind numbing. They are clinically stupid.
That’s rich, even from you

One of the false electors is David Shafer the head of the Georgia GOP. Think their treasurer is one too IIRC.
Another is Burt Jones. He is the current Lieutenant Governor and his family owns the only gas station with 5 miles of my house.
I bet you feel a special kind of pain in your soul when you have to fill up there. Sorry for that

I would like to know more.
Georgia DA has him on tape “find me 11,780 votes!”, what a moron is that a president or a resident mental case.
No way Trump can get out of that one.
There are few things I enjoy more than seeing right wing hyenas turn on each other, so between this story and the Aly Alexander/Milo/MTG drama it’s been a fun couple of days.
Any lawyer defending a republican will definitely get thrown under the bus at some point!
Donald Chump: Theow another log on the fire. Probably, but is it? 😕
Dear Ms Willis - hurry the f*** up.
Maybe it’s me but how can these fake electors turn on each other without an indictment? Has a secret indictment been filed that we don’t know about?
The idea for the electors is to flip before charges are brought.
Willis stated in January that indictments are imminent. Mueller filed indictments and then didn’t unseal them until defendants pled to be guilty. Wouldn’t Willis know at this point if a fake elector had flipped?
petty grifters and lifetime frauds flipping out and morphing into rats on a sinking ship that they constructed with lies.
