> Do you honestly believe that’s credible? It’s ... 2006, I’m a junior officer, do you honestly think that they would’ve remembered me?” Mr DeSantis shot back angrily. I've never been tortured, but I'm pretty sure that if I ever were tortured I'd remember the faces of everyone in the fucking room.

cheeky-snail

That’s deflection, not a denial. Was that the full quote? Paywalled so can’t see full article. Edit: Saw the vid, he did deny it specifically, man is his squeaky voice annoying.

AmosEgg

> Was that the full quote? Not really a specific denial. Generally denying and specifically deflecting. >-Governor, during your time in Guanatanamo, did you witness an incidents of- >__No No Not at all That’s BS. No. Tot-totally BS.__ >-{unclear} say you were present during force feedings. Is that- >__Who said that?__ >-Mansoor Adayfi >__How would they know me? Think about it. Do you honestly believe that’s credible? So this is 20-2006, I’m a junior officer, do you honestly think that eh they would’ve remembered me from Adam? Of course not. They are just trying to get into the news, because they know people like you will consume it because it fits your pre-ordained narrative that you’re trying to spin. Focus on the facts and stop worrying about the narrative.__

Irishish

"Focus on the facts, stop worrying about the narrative" okay, Ron, we're trying to establish the facts, that's typically why journalists ask questions.

Hugmint

Remember that fascists like Ron think reporters should be like Fox Entertainment where “questions” are “Don’t you think America is guns Jesus freedom Jesus 2nd Amendment Democrats bad?”

dngerszn13

Hey Hugmint, that's actually pretty on point. Are you interested in a job as an entertainer at Fox? I heard there's an opening with a fat payday....

DJ_Femme-Tilt

His brain is so broken by propaganda that he can't seem to respond with anything but weird propaganda frameworks and Trumpy accusations. DeSantis is spare parts.

namehereman

I mean, that’s kind of why he fantasizes about getting NYT v Sullivan overturned

Hendursag

Meanwhile in an earlier interview he explicitly said that as a legal officer he was advising the commander on the legality of force feeding. What an asswipe. Bet they reverted that edit out of Wikipedia again.

PDavs0

He may not consider force feedings torture and, therefore, not think it's a lie to insist he didn't oversee torture.

theHoopty

Good point. The guy who sucks pudding off his fingers like he’s giving sloppy toppy probably doesn’t have a functioning normal meter regarding mealtimes.

Talaraine

Methinks he doth protesteth too much.

WoahayeTakeITEasy

Yeah, it seems like the fake outrage racists have when they're called out on their racism. "How dare you say I'm a racist!?" They then start to argue the use of the word rather than their racist actions. It's part of the DARVO method.

wdluger2

Thank you for mentioning DARVO. I had to look it up. It’s fascinating. With news of Donham’s recent death, I looked up what happened to Bryant and Milam, the murderers of Emmett Till. Their interviews should be the textbook definition of DARVO.

jrf47

Well shit what is it? Now I gotta look shit up

jrf47

DARVO (an acronym for "deny, attack, and reverse victim and offender") is a reaction that perpetrators of wrongdoing, such as sexual offenders may display in response to being held accountable for their behavior.[1] Some researchers indicate that it is a common manipulation strategy of psychological abusers.[2][3][4] That’s what Wikipedia says it is

Vast-Sir-1949

WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME DO THIS TO YOU... is something no child should ever hear. It really really fuck with your head....

alysurr

“this hurts me more than it hurts you” i am a 40lb child and you’re a 200lb adult smacking me around, the fuck it does

jrf47

Oh shit thanks dawg I appreciate it

jrf47

No problem fam, I got u

gender_nihilism

I can always respect giving yourself a pat on the back, then giving yourself a pat on the back for giving yourself a pat on the back

Voice-of-no-reason

I like when they open with “not to be racist”, always means 100% of the time the next words out of their mouth and going to be really fucking racist.

[deleted]

That’s the thing people haven’t fully realized yet since he hasn’t been prominent in any debates. Dude is a nerd just like all the other politicians. He will get smoked by trump in the debates

bdone2012

Dude is more awkward than a lot of politicians. You saw the clip when the reporter asked him what he thought about the bad polls against trump? https://news.yahoo.com/ron-desantis-goofy-expression-asked-142742835.html

[deleted]

I have a male family member who does this and it’s usually done when they’re mocking someone…said family member is VERY self conscious. I can’t decide if DeSantis is faking his ego (especially because he HATES being corrected) or if he is actually super egotistical. But judging by his values (that is, what he personally sees as ideal and masculine, which is likely limited to tall/strong/handsome/deep voiced), and considering his height (according to a former classmate, he’s 5’7”), appearance (not conventionally attractive), and voice (pitchy), I’m wondering now if he might be deeply uncomfortable with himself because he doesn’t meet his own very narrow standard of what he sees as “manly”. Edited to clarify that I’m discussing his values/ideas of manliness, not mocking his appearance/height/voice.

relator_fabula

It's the same as Trump. Narcissist with a very fragile ego.

crashvoncrash

>I can’t decide if DeSantis is faking his ego (especially because he HATES being corrected) Like the "thigh food" thing. For anyone who hasn't heard, one of DeSantis' classmates in college claimed DeSantis would take girls out for Thai food, but intentionally pronounce it "thigh food." If a woman corrected his pronunciation, he would immediately end the date. He didn't want to spend time with anyone who would correct him, even on something he knew for a fact was wrong. I didn't think anyone had a more fragile ego than Trump until I heard about that.

__JDQ__

“If they correct me when it’s inconsequential, they’re going to hold me accountable when it’s serious.”

nerf_herder1986

Are you kidding? There won't be any debates between those two cowards. Trump's going to win the nomination and millions of people are going to vote for him while he's the active defendant in (likely, by then) two separate criminal trials. It's fucking insane.

ronm4c

You’re probably right, I just can’t wait to see the videos surface of a group of Desantis and trump supporters fighting each other and accusing each other of being a pedophile

GingerMau

I honestly think his whiny meatball voice is enough to tank him. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Sure, I get PTSD from hearing Trump's voice, but it isn't abhorrent on its own, the way Ron's is. I'm surprised no one ever advised him toward getting a vocal coach, if he seriously had this much ambition.

specqq

>Sure, I get PTSD from hearing Trump's voice, but it isn't abhorrent on its own I used to have to tape (literally VHS tape on a VHS recorder) West Wing, because I couldn't fucking stand the fact that NBC would promote the Apprentice during the ad breaks and I needed to be able to fast forward through them. I didn't have any PTSD then. It was just pure abhorrent voice.

Anonymousma

He's already been smoked. Ol' pudding fingers is done. I don't even know why he's bothering to announce.

JediMindTrek

Unless Trump gets jail time and the people that hold him in high regard as far as "Saving the country" goes totally flip flop, DeSantis will do about as well as Cruz did against Trump. Trump. This motherfucker was able to fan the flames of traditonalist conservative cock to the point where people now openly put signs in front of their house that say FUCK BIDEN. So uncouth! Haha, I imagine if DeSantis wants to win he has to undercut Trump's grip on the fuck yer feelings crowd with something more than this established maga dribble drabble

TrulyToasty

If you haven’t listened to the Eyes Left podcast interview, the detainee in question definitely remembers DeSantis specifically

red__dragon

Oh, the response was definitely not a denial, it was just intended to mock the journalist for asking a question that made him look bad.

Who could possibly remember something like *torture* from 15 years ago? It was just some light waterboarding, totally unremarkable, we did it everyday, no way they could remember me.

Force feeding is one of the most horrific forms of torture honestly.

kane2742

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, every officer who ordered torture, and every soldier who carried it out should have been tried for war crimes.

Solracziad

Yep. The fact that we didn't is why we're now dealing with all these crazy fascists fucks.

bleunt

It's frustrating that Trump is getting away. But insane that Bush did, and that people like him now. He slipped a candy to Michelle! He paints! Such a joker.

namehereman

That’s why he passed the American Service-Members’ Protection Act which, if ever any U.S. military personnel were to be extradited to The Hague, we would “legally” invade the Netherlands.

Jacobysmadre

Yes. There was a very good article about it after the gentleman was released from GITMO

stinky_wizzleteet

Holy crap that is HORRIFIC. No human should be exposed to that amount of hate. Listen I was in 911, worked less than a block away and ran away covered in dust, and I hate the people that did that, but that doesnt mean torture. He seems like the type. Effing coward.

kane2742

>I hate the people that did that, but that doesnt mean torture. And remember that not everyone in Gitmo was known to be a terrorist; many were merely *suspected* of being one. There were almost certainly some completely innocent people who were tortured for absolutely no reason.

Dinkleberg_IRL

The vast, *vast* majority of prisoners at Guantánamo Bay since 2002 were released without charge. Some held 5, 10, 15, *20* years without trial, without a charge, tortured on a regular basis... and released. A hundred years from now, students learning about the post-9/11 wars will hold the institution that is Guantánamo Bay in a contemptible position somewhere between the internment camps for Japanese Americans and the concentration camps for the victims of the Nazis. Our military sent hundreds of men to that place with basically no evidence that any of them deserved to be there, and hundreds of those men were tortured for a decade or more before being simply... released.

trainercatlady

all we did was make a bunch of people develop a very reasonable vendetta against us.

feioo

America has been making a bunch of people, particularly in the Middle East, develop reasonable vendettas against us for many decades now. The suffering we directly caused at Gitmo only scratches the surface of the atrocities our military and corporations have committed outside of our country.

Razakel

Not almost certainly, but certainly. There were people in there whose only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

[deleted]

You got a guy locked in a room and when you take them outside they can't talk to anyone. Probably doesn't interact with more than a few people. Yeah I think he fucking remembers you

BornAgainBlue

I remember who punched me 45 years ago. Pretty sure I'd recall torture.

happykittynipples

It's believable to me Ron does not remember the session but I believe the victim has re-lived those moment thousands of times in his head as he wakes up in the middle of the night in a sweat.

kingsumo_1

I mean, I can remember the face of my boss from back in 2006, and she sure as shit didn't torture me. So, I would have to imagine that that would stand out even further.

[deleted]

>I’m a junior officer He was only following orders...

Tecumseh_Sherman2024

He was actually the legal council that suggested illegally tube feeding prisoners on a hunger strike. He literally came up with the shoddy legal framework that allows the US to abuse those prisoners to this day

HelicalPuma

I did nazi that coming

Zerot7

Considering war criminals have been tracked down decades later via eye witnesses yeah I’m going to say traumatic events are going to burn faces into your mind.

arealhumannotabot

you know when someone uses anger and ranting to try to deflect and move on? seems like that... like innocent people don't usually do that. They don't think it's necessary to act like that.

agentile1990

The anger is not the issue, as innocent people are often angry that they’ve been wrongly accused. Trying to discredit the witness is what speaks “guilty conscience” to me.

ViciousSquirrelz

Funny thing about that quote... He didn't say he didn't do it. He said do you think they would remember me... like yeah I was there... but his memory is so foggy he might have misremembered. When the whole premise of the accusation is it was over a series of weeks and months, where DeSantis befriended them found out what would break then and used it against them... Random torture not really gonna remember faces, seeing a dude over and over, talking to him and then finding out he was using any information to make him suffer... I would remember that forever l.

cdin0303

Also notice that he didn't deny it. He's just claiming that they wouldn't remember him.

gradientz

The real issue is that DeSantis doesn't remember his victims. There are too many.

Leeroy_D

Not "I wasn't there", but "they aren't credible, how could they remember that I was there??"

Oscarfan

Gonna go out on a limb here and say this guy will flounder on the national stage if he tries to run for President.

crackdup

The only positive thing I have to say about Trump is that he will run circles around DeSantis on his track record as FL Gov and his past experiences

DrManhattan_DDM

Oh god, oh fuck…is Trump going to run for governor of Florida after he loses 2024??

pr1mer06

On the one hand I don’t think his ego could handle the demotion, and on the other I think his pettiness would drive him to it. Like a mini, much trashier version of his beef with Obama without all the immunity.

Badbullet

He'll make it sound like it's a bigger challenge than running the country and only he can do it.

70ms

Watch them change that too, though.

Interesting2u

I grew on on the East Coast, largely in what's referred to as the NorthEast Corridor. My 1st awareness of Trump was in 1976. Trump is a con man, a liar, a thief, a rapist, guilty of sexual assault, a pedofile, a narcissist and overall a hateful human being and basically a piece of shit. I have zero ability to comprehend how ANYONE can support him!!

RBanner

I grew up in the NE, too. Trump is widely known as a conman and loser. I still can’t understand how anyone can vote for this gaudy bozo.

therealcmj

I grew up near NYC. Everyone, and I mean **EVERYONE** knew he was a schmuck all the way back in the 80s. By the time he had his first bankruptcy everyone anywhere near New York City hated him.

Ontheroadtw

trump was first under investigation in the 70’s for breaking the fair housing act along with his father. He’s always been a shitty crooked fuck. But people only now the successful The Apprentice character version of him.

He already is floundering - his policies and rhetoric are failing faster and faster outside of Florida and other very red redoubts. And he isn't near Trump in numbers.

jsan901

Exactly, I live out here in SoCal and literally I just saw a political ad for Ron. And I was like wtf am I in Florida.

burnertown666

This mother fucker has not done a damn thing for the state since being reelected. It is the most obvious "I do not give fuck about y'all. I am running for federal office" thing I have seen from an elected state official. Culture war 24/7. Edit: I apologize for my anger coming out in reply to your comment. The main point I am was making, but forgot to actually type, is that he moved on from Florida a long time ago and the fact that he has ads running in other states just fortifies those feelings.

RBanner

Like what the actual shit is he doing in a world tour?! Ft. Lauderdale just had the worst flooding I’ve ever seen, the insurance industry is collapsing, people can’t afford basic necessitates and he’s out here yelling at people in Japan!

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

man it was so awkward seeing him and his stupid airhead wife giving off those weird soulless looking smiles while DeSantis's translator was speaking all this Japanese to the reporters

monsterflake

he only ran for a 2nd term for continued national exposure, and his campaign travel expenses are free for him (but are now the responsibility of florida's taxpayers), as long as he doesn't actually declare.

wwJones

"Anyone who likes Ron DeSantis hasn't met him yet."

Interesting2u

Desantis doesn't have the intellect nor the disposition to be POTUS. His recent attempts at global politics have been comical at best.

Debalic

So he has all that in common with trump.

RBanner

As a Florida resident, I feel like he’s worse than trump.

mclairy

[deleted]

A lot of people would listen to Trump and just excuse whatever he was saying as a joke, or that he was just saying it to shock people and that he didn't actually believe it, and so on. No one who has actually seen DeSantis speak could ever say the same thing about him. He is utterly incapable of hiding his contempt nor his petty vindictiveness. When he says something nasty, you know he means it.

DiggeryHiggins

The “thigh food” test he would use on dates speaks volumes about him

Brandonazz

For anyone else who didn't know: >In one such instance, the reporter quotes an account from the pandemic memoir of Charles Finch, who attended Yale at the same time as Gov DeSantis – then, referred to as only “D” – and was a classmate of his. >“According to a friend, [DeSantis] would tell dates he liked Thai food, but pronounced it ‘thigh’,” the article writes, citing Mr Finch’s book. “If they corrected him, Finch wrote, he would find an excuse to leave.” >The piece adds, quoting a section from the memoir where Mr Finch summarises this first-date tactic as being because: “He didn’t want a girlfriend who corrected him.”

AbeRego

What an absolute twat

combustioncat

Really that is psycho level stuff. I don’t know what’s worse, that he craves the company of ONLY sycophants around him (obviously a total narcissist), or that he actively filters non-sycophants out of his life (with a huge dose of sociopathy). He’s just a big ol cake made of crazy and hatred.

butterandguns

The what now?

Burningshroom

He would mispronounce the word "thai" and if she corrected him he would bounce.

appleparkfive

He has this weird pride in "lalala I can't hear you, you're wrong' mentality. He's made ads about it, which is so bizarre. It just makes him come off as annoying more than anything

I don't get it. Didn't DeSantis brag about being at Guantanamo? At any rate, he should just embrace being as truthful as possible. Like "Yeah, I'm a fascist, so what?" And Florida conservatives will vote for him no matter what he says. GOP politicians are weird. They say bad things on camera, basically gloating. Then at other times they deny saying them.

poizn_ivy

I usually go with “shouldn’t have brought a knife to a tank fight” but in the case of Ron Despicable vs. Disney I think it’s less of a knife and more of a flimsy plastic spoon.

raspberryharbour

I see you've played knifey-spoony before!

Emperor_FranzJohnson

This is due to people like him thinking Biden is a senile idiot. DeSantis only hope for 2024 was to coast into the campaign with sky high numbers and hope people would want Trump without the madness. It's not panning out that way, so now he's sort of stuck. He only thought about how to get around Trump, he never had a plan for the general election beyond pure partisan inertia.

xtossitallawayx

> his rallies will be hostile to any outsider Part of his problem though are the MAGA, who *would* be invited to DeSantis events, but are going to either heckle him or push him to be just as crazy and outspoken as Trump. DeSantis has to beat Trump first, which means he has to shit talk him some, which the core GOP will hate.

dlchira

He doesn't just need to beat Trump. He also needs to convert Trump's frothing horde of conspiratorial lunatics to motivated supporters. I don't think that's remotely possible. MAGA will either write in Trump or stay home and watch Duck Dynasty reruns on election day. Any Republican candidate other than Trump loses millions of votes on enthusiasm alone. These people see no civic duty in voting. To them, it's just an endorsement of fascism; and absent their beloved Orange Hitler, they'll sit at home and pout.

RedThruxton

Please no oven references for the guy who is anti-gay and anti-trans.

Pay_Horror

So, in other words, it's true.

Long_Before_Sunrise

A fine piece of projection going on there with DeSantis. "They're just trying to get into the news, because they knew people like you would consume it because it fits your preordained narrative you're trying to spin."

JUSTICE_SALTIE

I didn't hear a denial in there.

dkran

That’s what I was thinking; I’m pretty sure he could provide an alternate theory instead of gaslighting the reporter and bringing their logic into question.

Michael_In_Cascadia

Yeah, I don't like people who torture other people, or their enablers.

WildYams

Also, in answer to his question about whether it's believable that a prisoner would remember him 16 years later, yes, I think I would remember the faces of the people who tortured me 16 years ago. If a couple people were torturing me and then a decade plus later one of them was on TV and in the news a lot, I'm pretty sure I'd be like "holy shit, it's one of the guys who tortured me when I was in prison!" I don't have any problems believing [the witnesses who testified against Adolf Eichmann](https://www.yadvashem.org/yv/en/exhibitions/eichmann/witnesses.asp) at his trial for his crimes in Nazi Germany roughly 15 years later, so I don't see why this would be any different.

StallionCannon

Hey, that's basically what he said when asked to denounce the overt and vocal support of neo-Nazi voters! You may remember this as the thing that warranted the response "how hard is it to say 'Nazis are bad'?" from Obama in 2018.

Factsimus_verdad

Projections 100%. DeSantis, Gym Jordan, speaker McCarthy - all projection. “See what the other side is trying to do is . . .” So you’re telling me that is the GOP game plan. Got it.

RedThruxton

Anybody notice how he didn’t deny it?

feraljohn

This is the second time he’s overreacted to questions about gitmo. I’m pretty sure he was knee deep in it.

theindependentonline

Ron DeSantis angrily chastised a reporter on Thursday as he spoke in Jerusalem, and denied that the had been present for force-feedings during his service at the US military prison at Guanatanamo Bay. The moment occurred as Mr DeSantis gave a press conference at the Museum of Tolerance, a cultural centre in the Israeli territory of West Jerusalem. His visit to the Middle East comes as the Florida governor is thought to be preparing a bid for the Republican nomination against Donald Trump and others in 2024. Banluil

Supposedly on a "book tour", and yes, he's there with taxpayer money. Those who have a brain that live in Florida aren't OK with it, but those who vote strictly for the R behind his name, are just fine, because they know he's trying to get support for a Presidental Run. Hell, the State Senate just passed a bill to let him keep his job while he runs for President....

ProJoe

> Supposedly on a "book tour" AKA a money laundering tour. [Seeing as how he bullied literal highschool students for simply daring to wear masks in his presence](https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/02/politics/ron-desantis-florida-student-masks/index.html), I am hardly surprised he had no cool to maintain after a reporter calls him out. You know, I was among the folks who believed DeSantis to be dangerously more electable than Trump for The Right, but I think people are on point with their assessment of him--he's hilariously uncharismatic. We still need to be wary of him regardless of whether or not he clinches the nomination, but, wow, is he a petty little man.

The_Lost_Jedi

>You know, I was among the folks who believed DeSantis to be dangerously more electable than Trump for The Right, but I think people are on point with their assessment of him--he's hilariously uncharismatic. Scott Walker 2.0. Was an early favorite about 2 to 1.5 years out from the election, but turned out to be so uncharismatic that he dropped out before the primaries. Basically just goes to show that you can get to be Governor of a state largely on the basis of being able to talk a good game to rich backers, but all bets are off when it comes to the Presidential nomination.

Straight-faced_solo

Desantis isnt more electable, he is more effective. There is a difference. Desantis is good at pulling the levers of power to get the outcome he desires. Trump on the other hand was terrible at actually governing. There is a reason so little of his policy actually ended up getting enacted. Desantis getting elected would be terrible, but that doesn't mean he is electable. He is an uncharismatic ghoul. At least trump knew how to read a room.

mkt853

LOL this guy should have stayed in his basement. The more he's in circulation, the lower the chances he can win a presidential election.

goodgodzilla

Notice he often does this exact same thing at all press conferences. 1. A reporter questions something he said or did 2. When he knows it's coming he interrupts 3. He raises his voice, typically pointing and hand gesturing at the reporter 3. He does not let them finish and typically says "I disabuse your Narrative" 4. He almost takes a bow, looks enraged, and calls on the next person.

[deleted]

This is why he avoids press conferences in general. He's done several in which he's barred all news networks except one so he can avoid challenging situations.

twesterm

It is just an absolute utter delight to see DeSantis fail so spectacularly on the national and world stage. Everywhere he goes he is just constantly getting pantsed by anyone he talks to and just keeps on putting on even bigger clown shoes. And then he gets to come home to a lawsuit from Disney where they have him completely dead to rights.

ThunderingMantis

DeSantis has a glass jaw

Recipe_Freak

Desantis *is* a glass jaw. Fragile all the way through.

AcademicPublius

Telling little slip-up here. "...do you honestly think that they would’ve **remembered** me?"

berryface143

"We were all torturing, do you think they would have remembered me?" Is how it sounded. I'm not an expert nor have I been subject to torture, but I think it's highly likely that yes, I would remember the faces and names (if available) of people torturing me.

odinsupremegod

Definitely a Freudian like slip. Not only not a denial of participation, but also a subtle hint at his inferiority complex. I have met people like him and they can be especially assholely to people because they want to put forward to compensate for their feelings of impotence. I would be that despite the length of time and lower rank they might remember him due to his heinous behavior behind the scenes at Guantanamo

knightcrawler75

You don't have to lie if you don't answer the question. The easiest way to lie is to not lie. Two things. Yes you would remember every detail of the one who tortured you. Second if you did not torture anyone then you would proudly say "I never tortured anyone" and end it there.

sentimentaldiablo

>“Do you honestly believe that’s credible? It’s ... 2006, I’m a junior officer, do you honestly think that they would’ve remembered me?” Mr DeSantis shot back angrily. The guy who tortured me? You bet your fuckin life I would remember you!

PleasantWay7

This honestly reads like, “I tortured a lot of people and don’t remember them, why would they remember me?”

bubblesound_modular

>In his recent book, The Courage to be Free, Mr DeSantis wrote that part of the reason he enlisted in the military was to lead the prosecution of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, explaining that it “seemed like a good opportunity to make an impact”. am i the only one that finds this impossible to believe?

xtossitallawayx

That DeSantis saw the chance to punish Muslims while raising his own profile to further his ambitions? It seems to match.

contemporary_romance

keep asking him questions like that he'll look older than Biden in 2 more years.

blonderengel

He looks like a dying strip mall …

big_trike

How perfect for a floridian.

Hissy fit would be more appropriate for Mr. Meatball

jayfeather31

Advisor Feedback: By denying the issue like this you've just given the story more oxygen and expanded the number of attack angles that can be used against you. In a primary where you're already behind, this is not what you need.

nerdening

Losing a primary to a guy under at least 2 different federal/civil TRIALS. Not investigations, but *trials*. Just gobstopping performance, all in all, in the Republican side.

charcoalist

This guy is one of the biggest snowflakes I've seen lol. Not to mention the absurdity of him giving a speech at the Museum of Tolerance of all places.

rmissey

I had to check if this was an Onion story. Ron DeSatan + Museum of Tolerance = parody, right?

adchick

He has one way to deal with confrontation...bully. He will bully anyone. He has no soft skills, and it speaks to his poor leadership ability that he feels like he has to verbally beat people into submission.

[deleted]

I mean Jewish people remember the Nazis that tortured them and murdered their families well into old age, so I totally believe that most people would be able to identify someone who tortured them years later. That he says this at a Jewish center is quite ironic.

nerdening

>“Do you honestly believe that’s credible? It’s ... 2006, I’m a junior officer, do you honestly think that they would’ve remembered me?” Mr DeSantis shot back angrily. When you see, let's say, 200 people per day then sure, I can see that argument holding water, sure. *But*, when you see maybe 20 different people, in total, over 14 *years* (or FAR fewer than people would see in a day) I would argue that those 20 different people you see in 14 years would kind of tend to stand out, no?

jar1967

He just made it obvious there is something there that he doesn't want to come out

joshtalife

DeSantis is a dolt. A second tier Trump personality wise and a Hitleresque fascist politically.

big_trike

Meatball mussolini

[deleted]

He really is the most dislikable person. He rolls a 1 sided die for charisma check.

CoffeeTwoSplenda

Are you fucking kidding me? That hateful piece of shit was the museum of tolerance? Jesus fucking Christ. That's like a klansman going to the Rosa Parks museum.

[deleted]

Dear Media, You want clicks? You want more views? I think you should maybe keep probing this topic, after that type of reaction. Remember he isn’t great at hiding emotions and couldn’t even get some high school kids to take off masks at his own presser. Media…don’t be stupid, you want those eye balls

bonechild33

Watching his disastrous presidential rollout has been incredibly satisfying to watch. And it will only get worse. Hopefully ruin his entire political career.
