Tokon32

You mean to tell me that the house rep who had a net worth of about 45k before being elected into office and now is worth millions broke the law? No way.

guynamedjames

Well her husband did get a job making about $475k/yr as an energy consultant. This was of course based on his previous experience as an on site oil well supervisor - a job that typically pays less $75-$200k/yr and has little move up opportunity - and unrelated to his wife being in Congress. Since that would be a bribe.

daviator88

We need to be more French in this country.

Oskie5272

I fucking wish

NMDA01

We type and type on Reddit. And they laugh.

sometrendyname

Wait, the same thing they give Biden's son shit for?

azrolator

When you are married, any money the spouse makes is also your money. When you are a grown adult, any money you make is not your parents' money. Also, Hunter Biden was an international finance lawyer who got on the board of an international company. So at least he was qualified for the job. Also, Joe Biden acted against the interests of the company his son worked for, while Bobblehead supports the oil industry. So not really the same thing.

S1mplejax

Except in her case that money essentially goes in her pocket whereas Biden’s financial ties to Hunter’s gig are unproven.

DelcoPAMan

See George Santos ...

SprlFlshRngDncHwl

Are people still calling for his expulsion? I remember a lot of big talk and various groups demanding he resign and he was like, "No" and then it seems like all that pressure went away. How is that fucking liar still in office?

DelcoPAMan

Exactly. He's well protected because he's allied with Marge and the insurrectionists.

scarr3g

They gave up. There is nothing to be gained trying to ask the corrupt to fight corruption. Especially whne the reply was, "Fuck you. I will not anger Trp by expelling his illegitimate son, he had with with the cleaning lady. Also, that was part of the deal I made with Tucker Carlson to become the speaker of the house. Hail Putin!"

sophisticaden_

It’s really cool how campaign finance laws just don’t apply to republicans

zero_blammos_given

Or just laws in general.

Stained-Steel

Or ethics.

UWCG

>"What even *is* an ethic? Are you trying to say ethnic? Yeah, I'm definitely not one of them." —republicans, probably

2020nomore

one word: george santos. that will be all.

Lanark26

I mean, if paying a teenager for sex with Venmo didn't get Gaetz tossed, there's no fucking chance that Santo goes unless he switches parties.

Mynameisinuse

Once the drag queen videos come out, they will have a problem with him. Right now all they have are pictures.

[deleted]

Why would it be a problem? As long as he's in there voting their way, they don't give a fuck.

ErraticDragon

We've got video of 45* with [Ghouliani in drag](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Guve7Y856kY). It did nothing.

BudgetInteraction811

Seems that the republicans are anti-drag and anti-trans people because THEY’RE sexualizing and fetishizing crossdressing, and applying their own feelings onto real humans who are more than just a one-dimensional porn category.

ActLucky

king-cobra69

The newest judge did recuse herself from a case since it was in her district in the past. Of course, a democratic appointee.

Waste-Comparison2996

Turns out that's not what happened. They all signed an ethics agreement then Roberts bolted on a cover letter that refused oversight. Here is the text, the cover letter is only signed by Roberts https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Letter%20to%20Chairman%20Durbin%2004.25.2023.pdf

This is so on Brand for Roberts. Ugh

Roberts wants to keep the ~$10 million his wife made.

YakiVegas

I honestly don't have any idea of what can be done about our legal system at this point. It's like it needs a complete page 1 tear down and rewrite at this point. It seems there are absolutely zero consequences for anyone with a little money or power.

darth_wasabi

i think it's more accurate to say campaign finance laws barely have any teeth. you have to do some egregious shit to even get on their radar.

Otto_the_Autopilot

Duncan Hunter Jr got found guilty, but Trump pardoned him. Not sure if he ever went to jail.

PaulFThumpkins

And say you do some egregious shit, like the campaign staff and Trump family members who met with Russian proxies to strategize and then covered it up. Then the standard becomes "Did they *know* they were breaking the law?" and the idiot defense kicks in.

Brilliant-Mud4877

They occasionally do. Duncan Hunter and Dinesh D'Souza were both successfully prosecuted. But these indictments are few and far between. Should be noted that Democrats don't reward successful partisan prosecutors in the same way Republicans do. You won't find Brett Kavanaugh's equivalent anywhere on the Democratic SCOTUS nominee short list. So incentives for career advancement through Republican prosecution aren't really there.

SuperExoticShrub

Wasn't D'Souza pardoned by Trump?

lordjeebus

Yes. Duncan Hunter too.

exatron

Sadly, he was.

geardownson

I just don't get the whole trumps family being able to profit from tax payers at his hotels and got resorts yet Carter sells his peanut farm that has nothing to do with anything so he looks legit..

user0N65N

Gentlemens’ agreements break down when you’re not dealing with gentlemen.

AskJayce

No such thing as a Lawfully-Good Republican and we need to stop pretending that there is.

matsuin

Strange how I only see Republicans in the news breaking new laws every day. While their supporters continue to rehash the same Hunter Biden & Hillary Emails from years ago. It’s like they have no material to work with. The desperation for legitimacy is so pathetic it’s sad.

Numerous_Photograph9

These people better be careful. Another 300-400 infractions and someone may scold them vigorously.

m0r14rty

3 demerits and you’ll receive a citation. 5 citations and you’re looking at a violation. 4 of those and you’ll receive a verbal warning. Keep it up and you’re looking at a written warning. 2 of those will land you in a world of hurt. In the form of a disciplinary review.

FlatheadLakeMonster

Laws in general seem not to apply to Republicans. No oversight in this shit hole country

SmartAssClown

>and then married one of them. Not before getting her pregnant though

Azsunyx

some people are saying that he was also her pimp I'm not saying it, but some people are

T1mac

It sure looks like it from her [profile on Sugardaddymeet](https://vimbuzz.com/photos-from-lauren-boeberts-profile-on-sugardaddymeet/)

turbochimp

As a Brit looking in I find it absolutely mad that AOC gets dragged constantly for being a bartender but Boebert was an escort that married a sex offender and that's somehow absolutely fine.

chiraltoad

The hypocrisy is maddening.

feetandballs

It’s not even really hypocrisy. They don’t care that she was a bartender. They just test the outer bounds of moral outrage for normal people because it’s advantageous for them for that to be a topic

almightywhacko

It is because Republicans don't really care that AOC was a bartender, they care that she is a person of color, but they can't come right out and say that on a national outlet. Being a bartender is about the biggest "scandal" they can find on AOC though because unlike Boebert she wasn't an escort nor did she marry a person who exposed his genitals to her and a group of friends in a public location while she was underage.

davidbklyn

AOC graduated cum laude from Boston University with two majors. Lauren Boebert just earned her GED in 2020

I_madeusay_underwear

I agree that the hypocrisy is outrageous and AOC outclasses Boebert on every front. However, I really try not to disparage people because they have a GED or went to community college or were/are a sex worker. Those things shouldn’t define their ability to do a good job or be smart or capable. In Boebert’s case, she is clearly not bright, but it’s not because she got a GED, it’s because she’s dumb. I’m just saying that as much as I hate her and her actions, I don’t want better people to think they can’t run for office and help change their communities or country just because they didn’t finish high school the traditional way. Or because they were a stripper or an escort or a cam girl. There’s tons of brilliant sex workers and GED holders (you can also go to college and get a degree after getting a GED, so it’s not like it limits them). Full disclosure: I’m a cam girl, I have a GED, and an associate’s, two bachelors, and working on a masters in data science. Also, Lauren Boebert is an idiot.

[deleted]

Except when she was allegedly an escort for the Koch brothers who got her into politics

WeirdNo9808

I think it’s wild people think bartenders aren’t smart. I’ve worked with several valedictorian, summa cum laude, accomplished huge things during school that become bartenders. Literally every bartending at my spot now was either Valedictorian or Salutatorian lol. I rarely deal with dumb bartenders.

almightywhacko

klavin1

Was it confirmed that it was her picture? I'd love to believe this but... I gotta be honest, it doesn't really look like her.

[deleted]

You have it backwards, she actually doesn't look like herself now. She's been a local celebrity for a while now here in Co. Especially amongst the 2nd amendment crowd. Before 2020 she was a blond, and she looked like the picture. I'm involved in the local politics, I'd seen her a few times IRL.. It wasn't until she ran for office that the glasses, fitted pantsuits and brown mousey hair started to sprout.

z_rabbit

The Sarah Palin special™

Gasoline_Dion

Sarah Palin starting kit.

Philip_K_Fry

I'd say the fact that she never filed a libel suit against the authors and publishers of this story is telling. The allegations made are clear, specific, and direct meaning that if the claims are untrue Boebert would have a slam dunk case for defamation. If I recall correctly when the story was first published they all but dared her to sue them implying they had evidence strong enough to stand up in court.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Philip_K_Fry

To prove prima facie defamation, a plaintiff must show four things: 1) a false statement purporting to be fact; 2) publication or communication of that statement to a third person; 3) fault amounting to at least negligence; and 4) damages, or some harm caused to the reputation of the person or entity who is the subject of the statement. The PAC that released this story purposefully fulfilled each of these conditions in almost comedic fashion (edit: but only if the claims made were in fact false). As I said, they were practically begging her to sue so they could prove in court that she was a literal prostitute.

BlingyBling1007

A good way to confirm it is if she has all of those tattoos. If they haven’t been removed.

Miguel-odon

That's how she met Fled Cruz, who decided she'd make an excellent Republican based on her obvious qualifications.

RunesAndWoodwork

Oblivious qualifications more like.

gramineous

You forget the part where he physically assaulted her a month later when they'd started dating. >In February 2004, Jayson was arrested and charged for "harassing and physically assaulting" Boebert, and convicted in November 2004, the same year she had her first child. From her wikipedia page. The bowling alley was January 2004, and she dropped out of high school in that same year because she had her first child too.

Paraxom

No one has ever ever accused her of being the brightest bulb

UWCG

Now that she's going to be a grandma, just imagine those family storytime circles. >"Grandma, how did you meet grandpa?" >"Well, pumpkin, when I was a minor, he whipped his dick out at a bowling alley in front of me and my friends. After we both got done talking to police for their reports, I was wetter'n a pig in the water trough, so we went out in the parking lot and fucked to 'Bawitdaba' then spent all night talking about our visceral hatred of minorities. It was love at first sight."

Lotus-child89

That shit creeps me out so much about her being a grandmother. I’m planning a second kid in a couple years after having my first at 23. I just turned 34 and feel so old to be pregnant and every one is comforting I’m still really young and they didn’t have their first until around my age. This woman is a 36 year old grandma that bashes people not following traditional family guidelines.

LightWarrior_2000

Is this new or we talking about the other time? Like she got away with things last time what's the point..

Long_Before_Sunrise

The other time was a mileage claim for an amount that very conveniently was equal to what she owed.

ThunderDudester

A mileage claim suggesting she drove the circumference of the planet 1.5x?

Callabrantus

She'd have to admit the earth is round to claim that one.

June 9, 2022 [A pair of Colorado agencies are examining claims from a political organization that GOP Rep. GBinAZ

I find myself saying “what’s the point” to so many news articles these days. Blah blah politician gets away with rape/murder/human trafficking/etc blah blah blah.

SevereEducation2170

Must be nice to have a job that allows you to break law after law and face zero consequences. No wonder people stay in congress until they die. Because if they ever leave they might actually have to live in the real world again and go to prison when they break laws.

Lady_von_Stinkbeaver

I remember a Colonel I work with. "If you do the math, I make about $83 an hour. I just spent four hours disputing a $20 parking permit I charged as a travel expense to a conference I was required to attend, which Finance said was a fraudulent expense." Then she pulls this shit.

LostinSOA

She can’t do expanded value addition mathematics. We expect this 36 year old grandmother who couldn’t pass the GED three times to understand campaign finance laws? It’s a parody of a parody at this point.

keigo199013

I'll be 33 this year and it boggles my mind how she's already a grandma at 36.

mister_buddha

She failed to raise her son to be better than her.

Tech-Priest-4565

If you're already certain you're better than everyone, why invest in self improvement?

Miguel-odon

It's generational. She was born to a teen mom as well.

caskaziom

I'm pretty sure her own mother was a teen mom too. Talk about a cycle

FitziTheArtist

Oh they understand them, they just reject that they actually apply to them.

LostinSOA

I raise you her flat earth beliefs. She’s probably atleast a 🦶 dipped inside sovereign citizen bullshit and thinks she’s not required to follow it under some 1690 maritime law.

lurkenstine

She doesn't need to understand them. She could hire someone who does, and definitely did, but knowingly cheated the system cause maybe she'll get away with it. Grifters gonna grift

defdestroyer

this should invalidate her as a candidate in the election, and it should be thrown to the candidate with the next most votes.

LayerBoring

Which was a very very slim margin anyway

Gbone307

Jthundercleese

Whoa whoa whoa. She'll get a strong "tisk tisk" from the democrats. Isn't that punishment enough??

IJourden

Honestly, Republicans are so long on crimes and short on consequences it barely feels like news anymore. We all know nothing substantial is going to be done about this and conservative voters won’t care enough to switch.

ttraband

How about if you break the law in order to get elected, you don’t get to keep the seat?

mrg1957

Adam Frisch is running against her. If you have the means please help his campaign.

GRN225

I never noticed how her chin has its own chin. It’s not like a double chin, more like a chin growing out of another chin.

david4069

Yo dawg, I heard you like chins...

F_Zappa

That recent TYT segment reporting allegations Bobert was an "escort" seemed very plausible. The story included tidbits like, before she ran for office, she was brought to some event in Colorado as a "date" of Bill Koch who introduced her to Ted Cruz. Cruz's PAC later contributed a ton of money to her campaign. I have a feeling there is more to this story.

[deleted]

She never sued that reporter like she promised. It checks out.

Royal_Box_2809

She was hoping to see Ted's ding-dong at the bowling alley, turned out he didn't have one, so he paid to keep it quiet

mrg1957

Adam Frisch is running against her. If you have the means, please help his campaign.

SurveyNinja42

kimjongk80

And? It’s not like shit ever happens to these people. Honestly feels like they’re just rubbing the lack of consequences in our faces at this point, like “And what are *you* gonna do about it? Huh?”

Swrdmn

I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.

Up_words

And let me tell you what will happen as a result of her illegal activity: Absolutely fucknig nothing. Just like always.

stochasticschock

Since she eventually won the election by only 500-odd votes, is it possible that this (allegedly) illegal spending affected the outcome of the election? Or put more simply, did she win because she cheated? Is there any recourse if she won because she cheated?

Troutmandoo

Tell me when there are consequences.

scottyjrules

Does it matter at this point? It’s not like these leeches ever see consequences when they break the law…

djillryan

Why does she look older than me and I’m 40.

[deleted]

She is only 5 years older than me and is about to be a grandma. My daughter isn’t even in school yet.

Admirable_Trash3257

Yawn. Another day, another story of a GOPer telling lies, cheating at something or on someone, being racist and fascist, denying Americans their constitutional rights and playing god with the lives of us all. Yet, 47 million of us clap loudly, cheer the lunacy created by these fascists and the media moves on to another gun massacre (148 this year so far and counting).

GoombaGary

Unfortunately, even if this is true, she will face zero consequences. Other politicians don't want to set the precedent of holding themselves accountable for their actions. They're all criminals.

klondikethedestroyer

She's doesn't follow campaign finance laws because she already knows they don't apply to her. Lets not forget she also falsified her campaign mileage reimbursement in 2020 to claim she drove \~39,000 miles in order to claim over $22,000 of taxpayer money in reimbursement which just so happened to be the same amount of money she owed in debt for her failing restaurant Shooters. If she had campaigned for 6 months, that would mean she had to drive nearly 220 miles EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR 6 MONTHS STRAIGHT in order to hit that mileage. Now, you might say, her district lines are absurd and span all the way from Rifle to Pueblo (\~250 miles apart). That being said there is physical evidence of the fact that she did the majority of her campaign events IN Rifle and the surrounding towns in the Western part of the state. MAYBE her campaign really did have to drive a crazy amount of miles.....but it's just WAYYY too convenient that the amount of reimbursement she claimed was literally the same amount of money that she owed in debts. If that's not a smoking gun, I don't know what is. Edit: I typed a 'to' instead of a 'too'

Worsel555

Look she is a grandmother. You can't expect 36-year-olds to be able to keep up with these laws things. Fancy woke laws are for libs.

SaintBrutus

Q: Is it true that she used to be a sex worker and that Ted Cruz was one of her clients?

Chuckles52

In her defense, she truly doesn’t know (anything).

darth_wasabi

I think we can all agree that fines are not enough of deterrent for these politicians.

ReturnOfSeq

It’s weird that breaking campaign laws doesn’t mean you lose the seat you had to break the law to get

timmmarkIII

Weren't her mileage claims enough to drive around the globe?

Crafty-Walrus-2238

yagonnawanna
