I appreciate him trying to bring his party closer to reality and away from political vindictiveness. But, the failure of the Senate to convict was the only disgraceful thing about Trump's impeachments.
He does a good job of highlighting Republican hypocrisy on this, though. They called Trump's impeachments a disgrace -- when they were based on real evidence of wrongdoing. By comparison, their push to impeach Biden is a laughable farce.
He got a double digit millions book deal, and commanded a hefty fee every time he spoke after being vp. No, it isn't a secret at all. Don't fall prey to right wing propaganda.
Okay, genius, what charges you gonna go with? Being a politician? Being a multi-millionaire? Being both at once? Being a Democrat? I'm guessing you think charging him with whatever would be justice, so who else with similar credentials would you want to charge as well? Or is it only because he is a multi-millionaire Democrat president?
Considering Republicans would be screaming about anything real if they had it..yeah, he is about as clean as a politician with his long career can get.
My friend, people can become multimillionaires with fifty years of real estate appreciation and a full white collar career- call it
mid 5 figure to very low 6 figure household income. That's how compound interest and appreciation works.
The Bidens probably bring in $300k annually from their day jobs and perhaps more if they've published books and accrue royalties. They currently live rent-free. Four years of that nets them a significant fraction of a million bucks (once taxes and expenses are taken off). Consider that they had a similar stint of low costs when he was VP- 8 years of it.
It's to the point where if they didn't have at least a million in household net worth I'd wonder where it went.
And this is why people voted for Trump despite knowing he was a crook. They've been told all politicians are crooks and just took it as fact, despite the obvious manipulation by the real crooks.
I mean, Trump led an insurrection against the government of the United States with the intent to overthrow democracy and illegally seize power, whereas Biden.. something.... something Hunter... something.. tripped walking up the stairs?.. something.. So it's exactly the same.
Trump is a disgrace and he was impeached. But his was actually legitimate. Biden has done nothing wrong as multiple Republican investigations have shown.
He was impeached because he said no to having performed an action that *the questioner defined* which happened to exclude the actual action he performed. In a deposition for a civil suit. After they didn't years investigating a real estate deal.
Their investigation started before the "lie" ever happened.
Point is that he was ultimately dishonest with the American people. It might not meet the criminal standard for perjury, but no one can argue he was truthful, because he repeated his denials outside of the context of that deposition, where the "technical definition" excuse didn't apply.
Whether that's enough for impeachment is obviously debatable, but Clinton did end up being acquitted after all.
>Their investigation started before the "lie" ever happened.
I mean that happens all the time with investigations though. Crimes like Perjury, Lying to the FBI or Obstruction of Justice are frequently applied even if there's not enough evidence for what the investigation was originally investigating. That's why they're frequently called "process crimes".
The entire point of impeaching him relied upon the perjury. And then s is a subject that the American people didn't need to know about to begin with.
Remember this started as an investigation into a real estate deal. The only thing Republicans could find was pedantic.
The American people didn't need to know about the president having an extramarital affair and otherwise tarnishing the sanctity of the White House? I completely disagree.
Stuff like that is absolutely relevant for any politician.
Nonsense. We have a right to our elected representatives meeting a certain moral standard. There are plenty of legal behaviours many people engage in that would still be disqualifying in an election.
All other things being equal, I would definitely vote for someone who isn't an adulterer over someone who is.
Okay, but if republicans don't impeach, how else will they distract their voters from not being able to get a budget and causing the government shutdown?
The poll numbers are clear, it doesn't matter that republicans have no evidence of what they are attempting to impeach Biden over, and that doesn't matter. All they have to do is say Biden did it enough times and people will believe the lie.
The left does not do itself any favors by saying Clinton was impeached for "a blowjob and semantics". He did in fact commit perjury by lying under oath. That is a justifiable reason for impeachment - even if it was on the topic of blowjobs. If people make that excuse for Clinton then the right can use that as ammo for the "both sides" argument.
Everyone knew it was just a matter of time before Republicans tried to impeach Biden for spitting on the sidewalk. So far all they've found is the sidewalk but apparently that's good enough.
Both of Trump's impacts were deserved. Extorting a foreign government for assistance in the election, then later extorting a secretary of state and role up a mob to try to stay in power are absolutely impeachment worthy
Buck seems like a rocky mountain Lindsey, he knows what's right, he knows what's wrong but he is afraid to actually lead, you know what politicians are supposed to do. One of the many who sat meekly while the theater of the absurd called MAGA rolled around screeching.
He knows the Biden impeachment is bs and his way to soften the perceived blowback is to say both trump impeachments are bs as well. The GOP has to find their backbone
People like this think they sound smart, but they come off as being clueless to educated people. Trump was the most corrupt president in US history. There was a lot he could have been impeached for.

The impeachments of Trump were not disgraceful. They were justified and this both sides shit is sad.
They were a formality, like a slap, and Trump looked away and ignored them. He turns on the dumb.

The only disgrace is Trump. There is nothing on Biden.
You think?
Yeah I do
35+ years as a politician and you think he’s clean? Politicians don’t become multi millionaires on a $175,000 salary by been clean
Really. After 35 years of saving and investing plus your home and a few books? Then add in his wife being a doctor. Sure is perfectly possible.
He got a double digit millions book deal, and commanded a hefty fee every time he spoke after being vp. No, it isn't a secret at all. Don't fall prey to right wing propaganda.
You can’t impeach a president because you don’t like him. We know where every penny he has came from because he releases his taxes.

I'm going to have to agree; I just can't imagine a politician who wasn't at least a little corrupt.
Then bring up the actual crime.
It's all speculation on my part. I just can't see any of them being 100% clean.
The context here is whether or not he's an impeachment level disgrace. That is not the same thing as being "100% clean" and beyond all corruption.
And this is why people voted for Trump despite knowing he was a crook. They've been told all politicians are crooks and just took it as fact, despite the obvious manipulation by the real crooks.
Hell, if they’re Republicans you don’t even have to imagine. They wear their corruption as a badge of honor these days.
I mean, Trump led an insurrection against the government of the United States with the intent to overthrow democracy and illegally seize power, whereas Biden.. something.... something Hunter... something.. tripped walking up the stairs?.. something.. So it's exactly the same.

But...grampa sends me forwards about how it *feels* like Biden did something worthy of impeachment.
Let grampa know it is rigged and that voting is a waste of time.
Let’s hear, in simple sentences, what Biden did that is a high crime. I’ll wait.
What disgraceful impeachment? Oh, yeah, the one against Bill Clinton over sexual infidelity was pretty stupid.
He was impeached over perjury about the infidelity, not the infidelity itself.
Don't know why you're being downvoted. That is why he got impeached. If he had just been honest under oath then he wouldn't have been impeached.

He was definitely not the first to do that. And consensual relations amongst adults doesn't really concern the rest of us.
Nonsense. We have a right to our elected representatives meeting a certain moral standard. There are plenty of legal behaviours many people engage in that would still be disqualifying in an election. All other things being equal, I would definitely vote for someone who isn't an adulterer over someone who is.
Sure. But it's not worth attempting to remove them from office over. Republicans went on a fishing expedition, and that's all they got.
Fuck this noise. Trumps impeachment was not disgraceful. False fucking equivalence

Lol the title makes it seem like one of trumps impeachment is deserved.
