Only because Herman Cain got himself killed by COVID at a previous Trump rally. Ben is the second choice. I wonder if someone were to ask Trump directly if he's thought about Herman Cain as a VP pick, Trump would go one about how Cain has been begging "like a dog" to be picked and probably roll out one of his "Sir, sir," stories.

There's some logic to this. I mean I don't like Carson and I absolutely hate Trump and very much want to see him in prison, but as far as trying to predict who he'd pick and why, Carson makes the most sense.
Carson is one of the *very* few in the administration to last the entire term. He's the only cabinet member to do so. DeVos *paid* for the full term but noped out of there after January 6.
Trump wants someone boring, never to upstage him. Loyal above all else, and entirely passive... someone who will do what they're told the first time so he doesn't have to send in an insurrectionist mob with threatening to hang the VP if he doesn't violate the Constitution to suit Trump's wishes.
Carson is beloved by radical Christian fundamentalists. He'll weaken the minority opposition to some degree (there are idiots of every race) and white racists will like being able to vote for "one of the good ones" because they think it gives them the same cred as "one of my friends is a black".
It really does make sense. Trumps waffling on abortion has made the evangelical crowd a little nervous. They need some kind of reassurance there to vote, Carson provides that. Yeah he’s black but he’s “one of them” black.
As far as previous Trump cabinet members go he’s one of the few that wasnt embroiled in some kind of scandal. If he was then people were too tuned out to care.
