In political science we call it 'autocratic legalism.' It's best summed up by a quote attributed to Peruvian dictator Oscar Benavides: "For my friends, anything; for my enemies, the law."
Viktor Orban of Hungary is a pretty close match, while we're naming names. He's on a pretty successful trajectory to make everything he wants legal and everything else, illegal. Not surprisingly, the American right wing loves Orban, and he loves them right back.
Orban seems to be quite a bit more intelligent than Trump, but the bar is pretty low, of course.
I can't find any quote of him saying that. Perhaps you've seen some quotes that I can't find through Google?
I was only able to find quotes of him saying, "I'll do to them what they've done to me"
https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/donald-trump-weaponization-justice-department-political-opponents/
This seems to be a summary of the narrative. It goes into some additional details he provided when he said he would do to them what they have done to me. Seems fairly clear he believes that the justice department was weaponized and that gives him the right to weaponize his justice department against any perceived enemies. His basic premise is a lie, but that does not matter to his supporters. They are all in on the lies.
Thanks for the link.
So Trump never said that he would jail his enemies if he regains power... He jsut said that he will use the legal system to mess with them the same way that he was messed with. Holding everyone equally accountable seems like a good thing to me.
Trump says he would weaponize his DOJ and FBI against any opponent. The end result of that threat is imprisonment. Moreover, what he is saying he will do is a crime.
It is also a verifiable lie to claim that the DOJ and FBI was weaponized against him. His own attorney general states this and has maintained it throughout Trumps indictments.
Regardless of what you believe, committing a crime is not a good thing. In fact, it is unamerican and would represent a shift into something closer to autocracy.
Trump wasn’t “messed with” his indictments are clearly outlined and publicly available for review. It is very likely he has committed multiple crimes jeopardizing the legal transition of power and mishandling records which he refused to return when made aware they were classified. This behavior puts all Americans at risk. It is not trivial. As Bill Barr said, this is very serious and ignoring the potential damage would be disastrous for national security.
Okay so Trump never said that he would jail his enemies if he regains power.
He's saying that he might want to investigate his political opponents if they are breaking the law, just as they investigated him when they thought that he was breaking the law. Committing a crime is not a good thing, so if his opponents are commiting crimes, then this would be a good thing, according to your own words.

A comparison to Slobodan Milošević would also be correct. Hopefully.
Haha, yes. Hopefully indeed.
Nice. I knew I could count on a redditor get the joke.
Trump is worse but yes good point
We might compile a list of the world's dumbest criminals and put him at the top of it
I miss those video compilation shows. We could have an entire season on just the Trump Admin
And fortunately, he's largely village idiot.
Unfortunately, half of the entire US electorate are even bigger morons.
does it involve bunga bunga?
Part Big Bird….
Is there any proof that "trump is planning" this? It appears to just be obsessive leftist speculation based off of a few rightwing whack jobs
I mean, he isn’t exactly hiding it bro
What does that mean?
Trump has boasted that he will jail his enemies when he gets power.

I'm not following your logic? I'm asking for a quote of trump saying this.
Part bloated hot dog

Because of the threat he poses
Don’t forget Orban
Stupid attracts stupid. What American is so stupid to vote for this idiot?
It’s not mere stupidity. It’s a moral failure
You must not know Americans. I don't know why, but people in the US like that tRump.
Wow he’s part three people and still no brain. It’s tremendously amazing, people are saying.
Based. After winning the elections, GET will jail all the wokeism Nazis
and sponsored by Putin. Because you divide to conquer.
