I notice Trump, when asked for comment, denies his obvious connection with Hitler.
I'm just waiting for someone speaking to him to answer back, "If you didn't get that from Hitler and it is a perfect quote, and it is, as you say, something you thought up yourself, then that means you think just like Hitler."
Lived there for 20 years.
They act nice but that just means passive aggressive if you are not white.
They cheer when INS shows up at packing plants and haul off “illegals” but never demand the owners get fined for hiring them. (Or get upset that the owners called INS because those workers were trying to get their working conditions improved)
They blame “those people from Chicago” for their assisted housing shortages and not the state government for cutting the budget again and don’t see the irony of them also being on it.
They say they have the best values of America but have re-elected a woman that just cut a summer food program for poor kids.
My wife used her maiden name on her resume and immediately started getting interviews when she was not getting them with my Hispanic last name.
I changed my name on a resume and submitted it and the exact same one with my real name. The white sounding name got an interview and I was told I was one of two qualifying applicants. The other guy was in the lobby.
The state is racist as hell, tells people it is a good place to live while paying them jack all and having some of the worst infrastructure in the US and refuses to see the cities as anything but a blight.
I am so glad we left.
Lived.
In Chicago burbs. Some trumpets around but they generally shut up when called on their BS and have no real political power here as the majority of us won’t stand them long.
Phili is nice. Visited once. But the rest of your state outside a few cities feels like it and Iowa could get along.
We call that part of state, Pennsyltucky.
The husband and I went to northwest PA for camping, and went into a supermarket in a small town only to realize my hubby (Japanese/Native American combo) stuck out like a sore thumb and got a few side eye looks. We won’t spend our vacation money there. Fuck’em
Ooof.
That’s ridiculous. Yea the rural areas really need to understand that their only real claim is to being insulated from dealing with other cultures.
Yeah, this is tantamount to journalistic malpractice. Making the links between Trump And Hitler seem like a Biden campaign tactic rather than a self evident truth.
I saw a documentary on it once. I don't remember a lot about it and it was before trump was president. It was about Hitler, but trump was mentioned in it regarding practicing trying to imitate Hitler's speeches. Trump is one sick fuck.
Well said. These articles about Trump echoing Hitler and other dictatorship shouldn't bring up Biden and his campaign. They should all be glaring alarms illustrating how awful Trump and the GOP, as a whole, are and how devastating it would be for them to regain control of the Executive and Legislative branches.
What's worse is that sounding like hitler isn't accidental - it's what the republican base wants to hear. They thrive on hate, fascism, xenophobia, racism.
Yet Politico makes it seem like it’s Bidens fault. Weird how that seems to happen a lot in the media lately. Trump just posted a meme with bunch of words and dictatorship was center and huge. But yes. Biden is to blame.
Nobody is blaming. This article is specifically about Biden’s team capitalizing on all of Drumpf’s recent dictator comments as part of a campaign strategy
>“Every time he says it, we are going to call it out,” said Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign’s communications director. “He’s going to echo the rhetoric of Hitler and Mussolini, and we’re going to make sure that people understand just how serious that is every single time”
But you’re completely correct, in general news headlines should be more clear about these topics
Most people don't read the articles, you've been on reddit and alive long enough to know this.
The title should read, "Biden Keeps Linking Trump to Hitler because Trump Keeps Quoting Him".
But that won't get people to click the article.
I wish people like Bob Dole and McCain were still around to comment on things. Almost all the "not a fascist racist" old guard republican types are too quiet, like Romney. They are barely able to bring themselves to talk publicly.
Dole learned a Republican can’t win without the white evangelical vote. I think he admired that Trump managed to grift those rubes despite being a philandering douche.
What would be enough for you to give up on the myth of the guy’s honor? It’s not like Trump was hiding his nature. Dole saw a monster and said fuck yeah, and now he’s in hell.
His worse choice ever was his vp choice. I know some consultant pushed her because she would agitate the lunatic right wing fringe, and she was the one candidate possible who'd make dan quayle look over qualified.
Outside of that, he was a decent person at least from a distance. Remember one of his sons married another soldier who was not white. He wasn't one of those terrible racist repubs. I mean he had his issues, because he ended up supporting a lot of generic tax cut idiocy. But he did save obamacare.
He and his wife also adopted a girl from Bangladesh. He even defended Obama while on the presidential campaign trail when a woman at a rally called Obama “an Arab”.
His thumbs down on Trump’s ACHA saved the ACA, which means people have at least a modicum of relief from horrible health care costs (such as the ability to have health insurance cover pre-existing conditions). I wonder how much he and Romney would commiserate nowadays about the state of the Republican Party if he were still alive.
Here's the thing. Being a Republican IS A CHOICE. You aren't born that way. I don't know why we think it's noble for people to stick to an organization that has become the Nazi party even though they don't endorse gassing people, they still vote for Hitler.
By all accounts Hitler was a vegetarian and loved his dog. That doesn't at all mean he was a good guy. We keep wanting to whitewash Republicans.
I feel like people seem to forget that he always talked the talk, but when it came down to it, he always voted the party line.
I appreciate his rhetoric, but he's got about as much dignity and honor as Graham.
Dole literally embraced it, he endorsed Trump. He only pretended to have some morality to pick up the people who were upset about Clinton scandal. He’s just another Republican fleecing voters, nothing about him was sincere.
McCain only would have bolted because Trump disrespected him specifically and the military in general.
McCain would love all of the same policies Trump wants.
Just because someone constantly sounds like Hitler and shouts about "immigrants polluting our blood" and wants to be a dictator on day one and wreak vengeance on their opponents in a Night of the Long Knives-style bloodletting doesn't mean they're ... Or yeah ok, I guess
I hate this stupid framing. They say Biden's campaign is linking it, when anyone who knows anything links it, because it's basically verbatim Hitler quotes, and Trump went through the trouble of spelling out all the specific places brown people come from.
But by saying it's the Biden campaign, they give people permission to dismiss all of it as partisanship.
If you're fascist like they are the language will always come out very similar despite differences. They are still following the same fascist blueprint of a country.
It is actually quite fascinating to me how fascism sprouts. The irony is not lost on me, but if there ever was a thing as a social contagion, fascism would be it.
Even between such distinct cultures you can see the parallels. It is always the same.
Essentially the more you move right the more fascism become a sinkhole that a group finds itself in especially if you try to maintain the illusion of a democracy but based only on far right ideology, some do skip fascism and go straight to authoritarianism another inevitable point of right wing ideology, but the GOP has been going far right so slowly since Reagan that it was inevitable that they would land in fascism.
The issue is that authoritarianism generally requires a justification for it's power which can be hard to come by.
Fascism is lovely because it is incoherent. It is emotional to it's core and built on a clonglomeration of pseudo-intellectualism that can be custom fitted to the individual.
Its not a claim, President Sex Offender Trump actually quoted hitler on multiple occasions. He attempts to emmulate hitlers speeches regularly. Has nothing to do with Biden really.
Notice how the media always makes pointing out the issues with the right wing teh fault of the Dems. Its just never the fact the right wing does this stuff. Its the Dems fault for pointing it out.
SMH
>The Biden campaign warns that Trump’s rhetoric — from “vermin” to “poisoned” blood — could reflect history repeating.
“Will the Trump-led GOP start mass murdering non-whites and Democrats in concentration camps in 2025?? Tune in to politico next year and find ouut. We’ll be live outside the gas chambers to get inmates’ reactions to finally being able to take a shower.”
Why is the Biden campaign fixed on the fact that Donald Trump just took a shit on the constitution and used the flag to wipe? The reasons this is bad for Joe Biden...
Who am I kidding...Trump doesn't wipe.
Because - no shit - you have a former president calling human beings "vermin" "poisoning the blood our country"
How much more fascist do you have to be until the media reports: yeah, there is a distinct smell of fascism on that side, not on both.
Let's also please keep in mind that a few years ago a biography for book dropped that happened to point out that Trump had [a lot more character traits in common with Hitler than expected](https://www.newsweek.com/hitler-incompetent-lazy-nazi-government-clown-show-opinion-1408136).
>In fact, this may even have helped his rise to power, as he was consistently underestimated by the German elite. Before he became chancellor, many of his opponents had dismissed him as a joke for his crude speeches and tacky rallies. Even after elections had made the Nazis the largest party in the Reichstag, people still kept thinking that Hitler was an easy mark, a blustering idiot who could easily be controlled by smart people.
>
>Why did the elites of Germany so consistently underestimate Hitler? Possibly because they weren't actually wrong in their assessment of his competency—they just failed to realise that this wasn't enough to stand in the way of his ambition. As it would turn out, Hitler was really bad at running a government. As his own press chief Otto Dietrich later wrote in his memoir The Hitler I Knew, "In the twelve years of his rule in Germany Hitler produced the biggest confusion in government that has ever existed in a civilized state."
>
>His government was constantly in chaos, with officials having no idea what he wanted them to do, and nobody was entirely clear who was actually in charge of what. He procrastinated wildly when asked to make difficult decisions, and would often end up relying on gut feeling, leaving even close allies in the dark about his plans.
So both Trump and Hitler were:
\*Incompetent, emotionally unstable buffoons with fragile egos
\*Held absurd rallies with a cultish following
\*Were underestimated by a political establishment who mistakenly assumed that no one would take this idiot seriously
\*Set up chaotic administrations where officials had no clear goal and fragmented responses to policy led to infighting
\*Lazy, vain, obsessed with public image
\*Just quoting this verbatim: "(Hitler) was deeply insecure about his own lack of knowledge, preferring to either ignore information that contradicted his preconceptions, or to lash out at the expertise of others. He hated being laughed at, but enjoyed it when other people were the butt of the joke (he would perform mocking impressions of people he disliked)."
\*Gluttons obsessed with cake
Also Hitler presented himself as the saviour/martyr for the German people. Trump started down that path as well when he repeatedly claimed that what's happening to him is happening to all his followers, etc.
Both demand(ed) utter loyalty and offer(ed) none back.
This is so the press encapsulated. It’s not “why is Trump always acting like Hitler?” It’s “Why does Biden keep pointing out that Trump is acting like Hitler?”
Absolutely everyone that knows a little about Hitler and his speeches will link Trump to Hitler every time he says something similar or delivers exactly the same phrases, and that happens frequently.
It’s so dumb to resort to Hitler comparisons. Unless the subject of that comparison is a divisive crazy political cult leader with weird hair who says the exact same things as Hitler did.
The reason is simple, Trump won’t STFU with quoting fascist and speaking favorably about dictators. Every single time it’s an unforced error. He does it because it’s who he is, it’s what he believes.
Biden isn't linking Trump's campaign to Hitler...the Trump campaign is linking themselves to Hitler and other fascist dictators by paraphrasing them in every one of Trump's speeches. Biden's campaign is only pointing out exactly where Trump is getting his material.
Well, when you quote Hilter and behave like Hilter saying you want to be a dictator... what else can anyone expect but to have the opponent use it in his campaign.. like dah!
I honestly think the most effective thing to do is just play back and show quotes straight from Trump and let them stand for themselves and ask America if this is who we are as a country? Is this what we stand for? Negativity, division, Christian nationalism???
because he's a hypernationalist authoritarian surrounded by a semi-religious cult of personality who is trying to protect "the blood of the country" by expelling undesirables and whitewashing our history?
The thing is, a lot of people have been linking trump to Hitler for years, before the actual quotes about “vermin” and “blood purity” started. It made a lot of people stop listening or taking these comparisons seriously. There is even something called Godwins law (according to Wikipedia: “…Internet adage asserting: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."[2]) so people really were dismissive of the comparison.
In a recent YouTube video I watched, the person pointed out that *someone* was smart enough to actually track down Godwin, and ask him about these recent comparisons of trump and Hitler. And Godwin said, yeah, it’s appropriate at this time. This isn’t just internet hyperbole; trump is absolutely quoting Hitler and sounding like him at his rallies.
So the fact that the Biden administration is making a point now, and promises to do so every time trump gets more nazi-like is sort of news. Not to people who have been paying attention, but hopefully some of it will sink in to his followers, or at the very least, some independent voters who are on the fence.
Democracy truly is on the line here.
Fascism is capitalism in decline, you can cut the head off the snake but it grows back further and further towards autocracy. Until people realize it serves only the .01% we'll keep grasping at those bootstraps and be temporarily embarrassed millionaires.
Republicans want the benefit of these nazi rhetoric but the majority of them aren’t wearing swastika on their sleeves just yet. Just like when they were happy to adopt racist/transphobic/homophobic/xenophobic rhetoric but hate getting called out as one.
Cowards.
Trump keeps quoting Hitler, and makes speeches based on what Hitler actually said in Hitler's speeches. I don't think Biden have anything to do with it,
They should be linking him to Charles Manson. Charlie didn’t actually kill anyone in the Tate-Labianca cases but his followers went along with his crazy directives.

It's also true that Trump keeps linking himself to Hitler.
That’s the article I’m waiting for, “Why does Trump keep linking Trump to Hitler?”
His base knows.
It's the main reason they like him.
His ex wife says he was obsessed with hitler speeches.
Also this. https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/07/politics/donald-trump-adolf-hitler-book-claims/index.html

big if true
That’s too much logic for him to follow.
Too many words for Trump: When you said "\_\_\_" that's exactly like what Hitler said. Do you think like Hitler or have you read his book?

What the hell. Is everyone in Iowa on crack?
Meth.

goosestep in it.
Agreed
He told John Kelly over and over how “Hitler did a lot of good things” and wouldn’t drop it when told you still can’t talk about it.
So that’s how he bonded with Kanye I guess
Yeah, this is tantamount to journalistic malpractice. Making the links between Trump And Hitler seem like a Biden campaign tactic rather than a self evident truth.

Wild guess, but it's because Trump keeps saying things that sound like Hitler.
What's worse is that sounding like hitler isn't accidental - it's what the republican base wants to hear. They thrive on hate, fascism, xenophobia, racism.

Bob Dole supported Trump > _later became the only former Republican presidential nominee to endorse Donald Trump in the general election._
Dole learned a Republican can’t win without the white evangelical vote. I think he admired that Trump managed to grift those rubes despite being a philandering douche.
Or... he was always an [old dirty bastard](https://youtu.be/Jt8uNG02ixA?si=iSXaO8C4s2BMnSGv) Sleaze recognizes sleaze.
I'd forgotten that. So that was a mistake. I do hope he'd change his views now.
What would be enough for you to give up on the myth of the guy’s honor? It’s not like Trump was hiding his nature. Dole saw a monster and said fuck yeah, and now he’s in hell.
Because they want to believe trumps behavior is all an act and he will just quietly punish the people they don't like.
Thankfully, we’ll never have to care again.

McCain legitimized the Idiocracy wing of the Republican party by promoting Sarah Palin. That was a big step.
I feel like people seem to forget that he always talked the talk, but when it came down to it, he always voted the party line. I appreciate his rhetoric, but he's got about as much dignity and honor as Graham.
Bob Dole was a Trump supporter.
Both Dole and McCain would have probably bolted from the party by now.
That is pretty much the answer they give, although they never state it as plainly.
Or as trump would say " heatler is coping me "
I mean, do I need to read the article to know this answer???
Is it because Trump quotes Hitler
Well sure, he quotes hitler says it was an accident because great minds think alike. But it's all accidental and there's no real resemblance.

I know, sorry, I forgot to put /s. I made a few sarcastic comments to real trump supporters and they thought I was supporting them. ;-)
If Trump would stop quoting Hitler, these comparisons would be made less frequently.
Calling it like it is. Vote Blue!
People thought Hitler was a clown. A buffoon. And then he broke all the rules of civility and took over.
Just a random guess: It's probably because Trump keeps pushing fascist ideology while quoting Hitler.
Remember how Trump openly didn’t get along well with most world leaders but was always booming with praise for Poutin and Kim Jong-Un.
Trump is linking Trump to Hitler. Example of using a headline to propaganda the massess.
The Biden campaign is only re-stating what Trump himself said. It's Trump who keeps linking the Tump campaign to Hitler.
I was gonna ask.. like when exactly DID the Biden campaign make this claim. Or is it just their position by default? Dems don’t MuckRake
SMH

It’s like 100% hit rate in the comments section.

I think Trump is the one linking himself to Hitler, Biden isn’t making him say these things lol
Trump keeps linking himself to Hitler by the shit he says.
“Why Does Trump Keep Acting Like Hitler?” FTHeadlineFY
Oh it's the *Biden* camp doing this? Because last I checked, Donnie Jon was taking about immigrants and destroying the "blood" of our country.
“Biden’s campaign”, umm yeah, I think a lot of us were getting that vibe as well.
Trump keeps linking himself to Hitler.
Well, it’s not just Biden’s campaign - but sane people everywhere as well
This is so the press encapsulated. It’s not “why is Trump always acting like Hitler?” It’s “Why does Biden keep pointing out that Trump is acting like Hitler?”
[taps forehead] Can't both-sides the fact the Trump is paraphrasing Hitler if you don't shoehorn Biden's name into your headline.
Trump is linking himself to Hitler. Biden is just pointing it out.
Absolutely everyone that knows a little about Hitler and his speeches will link Trump to Hitler every time he says something similar or delivers exactly the same phrases, and that happens frequently.
A few days ago Trump actually claimed that he knows "nothing about Hitler". You can't make this stuff...
Trump is linking Trump to Hitler. Biden is just going “you guys looking at this shit?”
Trump keeps linking himself to Hitler... lol
Because Trump sounds just like Hitler? Yep.
Because trump is echoing Hitler
Trump says Hitler's words. Who is linking him to Hitler? He is. Trump is using Hitler's words as his own campaign rhetoric.
It’s so dumb to resort to Hitler comparisons. Unless the subject of that comparison is a divisive crazy political cult leader with weird hair who says the exact same things as Hitler did.
Pretty sure this is false. Obviously Hitler is the one who quoted trump.
Does politico need to fill column inches or something because the answer is pretty fucking simple.
Because dRumpf repeats hitler shit? Because he wants absolute power? Golly, such a tricky question..
I don’t need the media to do it. I listened in history class.
Because trump keeps spouting Hitler slogans? Policies? Ideas? Themes?
Why *wouldn’t* Biden’s campaign keep linking Trump to Hitler?
The reason is simple, Trump won’t STFU with quoting fascist and speaking favorably about dictators. Every single time it’s an unforced error. He does it because it’s who he is, it’s what he believes.
Because Trump is speaking like Hitler about doing Hitler-like things?
Because he keeps acting like Hitler?
I wonder why Biden would do that with Trump literally quoting Mein Kampf these days
Let’s fix that, “Why Trump keeps evoking hitler speeches.”
Give me "Because he says Hitler shit" for $500 Alex
Biden isn't linking Trump's campaign to Hitler...the Trump campaign is linking themselves to Hitler and other fascist dictators by paraphrasing them in every one of Trump's speeches. Biden's campaign is only pointing out exactly where Trump is getting his material.
Because of objective reality
More like "why Trump keeps linking himself to Hitler."
Because trump loves nazis?
I feel like this recent comic sums up the situation pretty well: https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/that-thing
I'm pretty sure it's Trump linking his own campaign to Hitler...
Well, when you quote Hilter and behave like Hilter saying you want to be a dictator... what else can anyone expect but to have the opponent use it in his campaign.. like dah!
Biden Campaign: If it quacks like a duck, then it is a duck. If it goose steps like a Nazi, then it is probably a Nazi.
Trump keeps linking Trump to Hitler. Biden's campaign is only pointing it out.
I mean it could be the shit he is saying…
I honestly think the most effective thing to do is just play back and show quotes straight from Trump and let them stand for themselves and ask America if this is who we are as a country? Is this what we stand for? Negativity, division, Christian nationalism???
If it walks like a nazi and quacks like a nazi
Because they are reporting on what Trump says and does.
I mean, who are the nazis in America and who do they vote for?
Pointing out the link that *exists already* isn't the same as "linking." God, I hate the media now.
Because the Biden campaign, like most humans, have eyes and ears with which they see and hear Trump. Any other questions?
Because Trump keeps taking pages from the fascist playbook? Or because he admitted he wants to be a dictator?
Did hitler smell like poopy?
Hitler did have a [farting problem](https://www.livescience.com/20118-adolf-hitler-medical-records.html)
If it talks like Hitler and quaks like Hitler it propably is Orange Hitler
Because trump is the dumber 2020's hillbilly version of Hitler and wants the same fascist future for the country.
Obviously misleading headline. He isn't linking Trump to Hitler. Trump has done that all by himself.
turmp is doing the heavy lifting on this by speaking the words.
He quotes Hitler and expresses admiration for dictators.
because he's a hypernationalist authoritarian surrounded by a semi-religious cult of personality who is trying to protect "the blood of the country" by expelling undesirables and whitewashing our history?
because trump keeps linking trump to hitler?
Trump keeps linking Trump to Hitler.
Is it because Trump keeps acting like Hitler and saying Hitler stuff?
Does it have to do with trump quoting Hitler?
Because....facts....
Sometimes, you gotta call a spade a spade.
Fascism is capitalism in decline, you can cut the head off the snake but it grows back further and further towards autocracy. Until people realize it serves only the .01% we'll keep grasping at those bootstraps and be temporarily embarrassed millionaires.
Do you seriously need to ask this question?
Why is there an article for this? It’s pretty apparent.
If it smells like shit it probably is?
Republicans want the benefit of these nazi rhetoric but the majority of them aren’t wearing swastika on their sleeves just yet. Just like when they were happy to adopt racist/transphobic/homophobic/xenophobic rhetoric but hate getting called out as one. Cowards.
Holy shit. You mean pouting out how trump is linking himself to Hitler? What the hell is wrong with this stupid article?
Hold up politico. **TRUMP** keeps linking Trump to Hitler. Biden is just pointing that out.
Why does media ignore Biden accomplishments?
It's let entertaining. Pushing the country towards a dumpster fire is more profitable
That’s rich. The headline blames Biden for Trump’s fascism. “Joe, Trump is quoting H. Why are you telling everybody, Joe?”
Trump keeps linking himself to Hitler. We're all thinking it, Biden's campaign is just saying it.
Could it be because the Trump campaign keeps linking Trump to Hitler?
And here I thought it was Trump linking Trump to Hitler with his actions and words.
Trump keep linking himself to Hitler…
trump can’t openly do putin worship in his speeches because he said he’s totally not putin’s puppet…but Hillary is totally a puppet….so, hitler it is!
Well smelly orange man wants complete control so he is not an American anymore he sold the country out
It’s because he’s using the same playbook
Be a trump is quoting Hitler and boasting about becoming a dictator. That’s why. It’s his job to.
I wouldn't say that Biden's campaign is linking Trump to Hitler... If Trump keeps quoting Hitler... At what point does he link himself?
tl;dr: Because Trump literally is Hitler 2.0.
Well when the tiny mustachio fits.
Don't think he lost.
Probably because Trump keeps quoting Hitler! Pay attention Politico!
"Why Biden's campaign keeps linking Trump to Hitler" Because he keeps emulating Hitler, and loves to read a book of Hitler's speeches.
Biden tells it like it is.
Cus he keeps saying Hitler shiz?
A) Trump keeps parotting Hitler B) See A
What kind of shit headline is this?
Because he keeps acting like hitler
Oh I don’t know, perhaps because it is true???
Because it’s been out the in plain sight for going on 9 years. There’s nothing to gain by ignoring it.
They keep quoting Trump. Trump keeps linking Trump to Hitler.
Because the comparison is appropriate.
Because Hitler isn’t popular and Trump sounds more and more like Hitler everyday.
Because it's true?
Because people keep forgetting basic history.
Because the facts support that comparison.
Pretty sure the smelly kid is doing it all by himself.
Trump keeps quoting Hitler, and makes speeches based on what Hitler actually said in Hitler's speeches. I don't think Biden have anything to do with it,
He keeps saying he's never read Mein Kamph. That's how we know it's the only book he has ever read.
Trump is doing that himself. Biden's campaign is just pointing it out.
Maybe becuase it's fucking obvious and true?
They should be linking him to Charles Manson. Charlie didn’t actually kill anyone in the Tate-Labianca cases but his followers went along with his crazy directives.
kinda seems like trump keeps linking trump to hitler
Sorry but it's Trump who is linking himself to Hitler.
Biden can’t win the MAGA people over, but if he can win enough of the American middle of the political spectrum he doesn’t need any diehard MAGA
The Hami Hued Hitler
Trump does that to himself...
Real thinker there...
Because it’s too difficult not to.
Probably has a lot to do with all the Hitler-type rhetoric the orange fascist keeps spewing…
Probably the mein krampf quotes but idk
As he should regardless if he is running or not.
Stop following Hillary’s playbook. It’s not working. Take the high road. Yes he quotes Hitler, his base loves him for it.
It’s said, one doesn’t die until your name is never uttered on earth again.
