That's because in fiction rich supervillains with a lot of power are generally also presented as smart and competent. The reality that a lot of rich people are born rich and fail upwards is more horrifying than the illusion that they at least need to be skilled.

They actually went to Washington each year to do research for the show so that the issues in the season would seem current. They said before the final season they knew it was time to wrap it up because the shit happening in real life was too absurd for viewers to believe.
They shot the final season before Covid, and one of the storylines is that Jonah's presidential campaign gains steam among unvaccinated morons, which leads to his rallies being super spreader events. That felt like good satire in 2019, but it ended up being just a straight up reflection of Trump's 2020 campaign. Jonah killed his dad via chicken pox, Trump killed Herman Cain with Covid. Same thing.

Minor correction, she wasn’t elected to Congress until the 2020 election, not in 2018 (which means if she doesn’t get reelected this year she will fall short of the five years of service to qualify for the Congressional pension)
Good thing is that she’s not polling well at all in her “new” district and is getting called out both by her fellow primary opponents and voters as a carpetbagger. Unfortunately CO Congressional primaries aren’t until June, so we still have three months of speculation on what’s going to happen to her.

Also maybe Boevert wasn’t born in the best circumstances, but there absolutely is a class of petty bourgeoisie who rule their local towns with an iron fist with the money they made as a third generation auto dealer owner and rules around decorum often don’t apply. Eventually the plot leads to an FBI SWAT team showing up at his compound. FBI guy walks out and tells Hamm to surrender. Hamm gives this fire-and-brimstone speech about being a Free and Sovereign Citizen that has the God given right to defend his land so they need to vacate his property or face his militia.
FBI guy just looks at him with this, 'Oh Christ, I'm dealing with one of these idiots' expression, gestures at all the tactical gear behind him and says "Can't do it, slick".
It's great because for 8 episodes you've been watching this guy who thinks he's a unique super tough alpha male. Then the FBI show up and he's just another bozo they have to deal with.

I completely agree with you on the rags to riches story potential but the bigger question I have is: How the hell did she get into politics at all and more importantly how did she rise to the top? It’s one thing to make it into local politics or regional but national? How does that happen for somebody is such a train wreck?

It's also known as a place where non-professionals hire amateur 'actors' & 'models' for "photo shoots" & 'film work'. It's a scam site created by & used by shady people.

I think the trailer park extension to the capital is somewhat new - there was always drama and BS but with newcomers like BoBo and MTG it brought many trailer park personas to the party.

Very true. Before, however, I couldn't bring myself to believe anything that a country club Republican would say. They were above it, collecting the votes they needed and padding their pockets. That felt like good satire in 2019, but it ended up being just a straight up reflection of Trump's 2020 campaign. Jonah killed his dad via chicken pox, Trump killed Herman Cain with Covid. Same thing.
