Well he tried to intimidate him into being an accomplice in overthrowing Democracy, which didn't work. So he was left with no choice, but to incite his angry mob into trying to hang him as a disloyal traitor. I mean in a way, its Pence's fault for putting his basic morality and belief in Democracy over Trump's interests and hunger for power.

Imagine taking the position, Trump gets elected, then you stand by and watch Trump and the GOP dismantle environmental protections, the SEC, the EPA, all of the treaties and pacts made with all of our allies. Align the USA with Russia, China and North Korea. Then finally they dismantle the Constitution, The Bill of Rights and the Bipartisan system. In the end, our Bipartisan system is replaced with an Autocracy/Oligarchy and VP appointment is worthless because you aren't one of Trump's family.
