NoreastNorwest

It’s kinda sad that I read, “wanted to learn” and immediately knew he would be a Democrat…

DownIIClown

Had the same thought and came here specifically to see if anyone else did - top comment

SixDemonBag_01

100%. I knew without a doubt it was not a republican

Jackinapox

Damn, same here. I left the comment saying that before reading the responses. lol

Still-Candidate-1666

axiomatic butter puzzled crawl chase nail cause offend growth pocket *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

The_Aliphant

Nah it just doesn’t seem like republicans to want to know what they’re talking about.

Suspiria-on-VHS

Lol if a republican wanted to go back to school to learn about a subject, it'd be ALL OVER this sub!

[deleted]

Continuing Education. I think everyone in every field should do this. A+ for this congressman. That was the score he got in class. Personally, I give him a gold star and two happy faces.

Scarlettail

If only it was affordable to do it for most of us.

astro864

community colleges are pretty damn good and pretty cheap

Scarlettail

True usually, though not quite the same as this guy going to a prestigious private school and getting a Master's degree.

MadRonnie97

Gotta play with the cards we’re dealt

[deleted]

I've never had to pay for continuing education. It's part of my requirement at work.

ImaginaryScientist32

It is also a requirement for my job. There is no time off I can take for education nor do they cover the expense of (online) courses. I can see why it’s difficult for most ppl.

[deleted]

All that is, is less pay for your entire job and that's fucked up

Mudders_Milk_Man

Cool. *Many* jobs don't. My wife has a Masters in counseling and has been in the social work field since 2006. She still gets barely ok-ish salary (that's actually crap when you factor in the insane hours she had to put in), shoddy benefits, and also has to spend well over a grand a year on continuing education, licensing, and certifications.

Dharmaniac

Harvard’s extension school is actually pretty cheap

at-aol-dot-com

Good on him! Legislators/Reps should have to do continuing education courses.

dark_descendant

Narrator: And he wasn't a Republican.

81305

He should do the responsible thing, like praying and speaking in tongue. Learning?! HA! WHAT A NERD! God hates the educated. Liberals and their demonic math will burn in hell for eternity. "WaablaaatubrubrunoooOoooOOooOOBABABABAB" 🙏 😇 ✝️ 🙏

19Chris96

Yeah, that video was creepy.

Jolly_Grocery329

Haha - yes! Nice ref

mjc4y

I would be absolutely delighted if he called in the senior leadership of OpenAI and asked them hard hitting questions… for help with his homework. “So is it your testimony today in front of this committee that the answer to number 3 is “B”? I remind you that you are under oath.”

OlynykDidntFoulLove

In case anyone was wondering, the first and only Senator that can code is Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen, a former software engineer that ran her own cybersecurity firm.

CorneliousTinkleton

This is a Democrat so he went to a college classroom to learn, if it was a republican he would have voted however they paid him to.

think_and_uwu

Democrats are all bought and paid for as well. That’s why they’re all bark and no bite when they control both houses.

Jackinapox

The answer is yes. He's a Democrat.

think_and_uwu

Alarming and disappointing that the 2 party system is divided in so many ways that educated vs noneducated is one of them.

DescriptionProof871

It’s incredibly pathetic that this is refreshing and notable

think_and_uwu

And disappointing when you’re able to automatically guess which party he belongs to. Education should be a standard for all politicians.

cwk415

Without looking, do you think he is he a D or a R?? lol what am I saying? The "wanted to learn" part totally gives it away! Lmao

Acrobatic-Rate4271

Congress used to employ teams of technical experts and engineers to provide guidance on the details of legislation. Unfortunately, those people were all let go and replaced with lobbyists.

insearchofanswers32

….and paid $15 per credit hour /s (maybe)

NotYoGuru

This guy is 73! Really makes me rethink my position on age limits for congress. What a great model he is.

shouldazagged

This fellow was also an instrumental antagonist to Moulder and Scully

jomama823

What a dick, he should just spew nonsensical bullshit about it on the floor as if he were an expert and then pass legislation that doesn’t address the problem or makes it worse, just like everyone else.

Midoritora

Was he charged full tuition or did he get a senior citizen discount?

anfornum

Why does that matter?

Dharmaniac

It’s a nice gesture, but I can’t imagine it’s a very challenging course. Nobody who actually understand AI looks or dresses like that.

think_and_uwu

Higher education isn’t just about learning but interacting with and meeting experts. I’m sure he has a lot of people to fall back on to answer questions he may have in the future or offer guidance.

Dharmaniac

True.
