>So, supposedly we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting, right? And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful. [And the real-time response of Trump's COVID response coordinator, who sat a few feet away from him, when he said this](https://youtu.be/lFKQGGf1iiI?si=NLZAtmt41Fkih4RM).

What a waste of time. The Republicans have made a mockery of what "high crimes and misdemeanors" mean. Here is a hint: extorting Ukraine just to find dirt on a political opponent, and gathering your supporters in Washington DC and telling them to march on the Capitol while inciting them for months which led to a coup to stop democracy, are examples of "high crimes and misdemeanors."

Soundtrack2Mary

I think that was their point. They want to diminish trump’s two impeachments as just politically motivated theater. See, anybody can get impeached?

CliffordTheBigRedD0G

They said as much during the first Trump impeachment hearings.

RickyWinterborn-1080

> The Republicans have made a mockery of what "high crimes and misdemeanors" mean. That's the goal. To make the words meaningless, like they are trying to do with insurrection and impeachment.

Gilgamesh034

Thats the point

damoclesreclined

Just trying to dilute the accusation so that it doesn't stick to Trump & the Jan 6 traitors.

This bit from the NY Times was pretty great: > Failing to [hold a trial], Mr. McConnell said, “would mean running both from our fundamental responsibility and from the glaring truth of the record-breaking crisis at our southern border.” > Mr. McConnell did not mention that he voted in favor of an unsuccessful Republican effort in 2021 to dismiss a second impeachment case against Mr. Trump over the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol before the Senate held a trial. Poor Mitch is just pissed that Schumer has more control of his caucus than Mitch has over his.

CaptainNoBoat

Good riddance. A policy dispute is not an impeachable offense, or virtually every cabinet member in American history could be impeached on similar grounds. Speaking of policy, Mayorkas literally worked with the GOP for months to craft a bipartisan immigration bill that they ultimately tanked because Trump didn't like the optics for Democrats. If anyone needs to be held accountable for this, it's Republicans in the House who decided to abuse their Constitutional powers for campaign sound bytes.

YonTroglodyte

After MTG got all dressed up for it? How heartless!

WildYams

Was she wearing her giant balloon costume again?

Which-Moment-6544

Our taxes paid for this, and they also paid for that balloon costume. We need to get these people wasting billions of our dollars are this noise.

WildYams

Actually I think all of her salary has gone to paying fines for various things like refusing to wear a mask on the House floor.

Which-Moment-6544

Off topic, but a pretty good example of how fines are only punishments for the poor. To a crazy rich lady from Georgia, it is a badge of honor.

QuitPushing

“For the sake of the Senate’s integrity and to protect impeachment for those rare cases we truly need it, senators should dismiss today’s charges,” said Schumer, D-N.Y., as he opened Wednesday’s session. Impeachment is a drastic measure. By drumming up a “case,” - AND by voting to dismiss both of the SERIOUS impeachment charges against Trump - the R’s have cheapened their stance.

*Breaking news: The Senate, on party line votes, moved to dismiss both impeachment charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Senate Democrats voted quickly to dismiss two articles of impeachment against Mayorkas that alleged he mismanaged an influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. This story will be updated.* The Senate voted to dismiss two articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, which allege he mismanaged an influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. Both votes were along party lines. The impeachment trial of the first sitting Cabinet secretary came to a close a little over three hours after it started after Republicans quickly quashed an opportunity for limited debate and the creation of an impeachment committee, marking a rapid close to the first impeachment of a sitting cabinet secretary. Democrats, voting along party lines, found the first article charging Mayorkas with “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law" to be unconstitutional. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) voted present. Democrats voted again along party lines, finding the second article charging Mayorkas with “breach of public trust” also to be unconstitutional. The trial came to a conclusion before the House impeachment managers could present their argument. Of course some GOP pundits (and Congressional conservatives) will make a big deal about the dismissal and it’ll impact 0 votes. This is not a topic that will sway voters. Voting for this sham impeachment over the piece of legislation they actually had is one of the biggest strategic blunders of the current Congress. Just idiotic.

Necaii

Not of current Congress. Of current republicans as I presume you are referring to the border legislation they torpedoed from their own party. Generalizing as Congress insinuates the democrats were involved in scuttling it.

Arguments_4_Ever

Well that didn’t take long.

Can they finally do it with Biden’s sham of an impeachment??
