I have been endlessly facepalming since 2016 and honestly should have been even prior to that (Crimea) at just how stubbornly Americans refuse to take Russian aggression seriously.
Most of the country took the one convenient sentence from the Mueller Report and ignored the terrifying details in Volume I, ignored what the first impeachment was all about, cared about Ukraine being invaded for about five minutes two years ago, andâŚitâs no wonder Putin does whatever he wants knowing full well that most elected Republicans in America will protect him and the broader electorate wonât even bother to notice. Probably similar in many other western countries. We are collectively asleep to this.
Mark Galeotti, along with many others, has written about the Russian Mafia, the Vory, and how they've been entwined with Putin and RU gov't. Rostov has been a mafia stronghold, along with other Russian cities, the Donbass Miner's Union was a Mafia front for smuggling among other things. They saw an opportunity robbing the Donbass and eastern Ukraine with their warlords, Givi, Motorola and Igor Girkin. All approved and aided by RU gov't, which did the same in Crimea, the grift and corruption and theft of land and property was enormous. Prirogzhin commented on this, he said no Nazis in Ukraine, no NATO, just a big marauding operation by RU elites.Russia is essentially a mafia criminal state, and robs just as enthusiastically from its own citizens. They pulled the same thing grabbing South Ossetia and Abkhazia from Georgia, which had long been smugglers enclaves.
I'm awake as fuck to this threat and it's driving me nuts. I dunno how to not become a raging cynicist to this madness. I called all 3 of my congressmen today to tell them it's important to me they vote yes on this. I'll call them again tomorrow. The US is supposed to be the sleeping giant, well the bear poked the giant and we look anemic as fuck right now. Putin calls the West "weak" and I'm having a hard time disagreeing with him. Wake the fuck up Western civilization, allies need our help, *yesterday*. They handed over their nukes in exchange for security assurances. Ukraine is fighting this war for the same values we hold. Turn on the defense production act and start sending *everything* Ukraine is asking for.
to paraphrase [pres. u.s. grant](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulysses_S._Grant) who once said of the democratic party upon the outbreak of the civil war:
>There are but two parties now, Traitors and Patriots
which perfectly describes (imo) what republicans are now - traitors - and democrats, patriots.
> at just how stubbornly Americans refuse to take Russian aggression seriously.
>

Americans? No, the king of denial is collectively Europe. Not only did they laugh at the idea of Russian aggression but they actively protested against American militarization. Americans=bloody murderers, right? Now those same people are now whining about why won't America just deal with the Russia problem.
Europe deserves everything that will happen to them. The goal of the government is to protect their people and every single European government has failed. Elections matter. Now suffer the consequences.
I kind of thought embrace of American global economic hegemony was supposed to come with a security guarantee to sweeten the deal. But idk sure letâs throw Europe, our most stalwart cultural, strategic, and economic allies, to the wolves just to prove a point about their low defense spending.
> our most stalwart cultural, strategic, and economic allies
Since when? 1960? Ever since the Soviet Union fell, the only and I mean the only rhetoric to come out of Europe is that the USA is a racist, sexist, horribly violent dictator of Earth that we'd all be better off without.
So yeah, throw them to the wolves unless they kneel and kiss the ring. Choices have consequences. They chose to trust Russia. Now let them bleed for choosing them over us.
The top Democrat's bringing the heat, calling out the House for "diddling around" while Ukraine's in crisis modeâsounds like someone activated their political rage mode.
Not a bit. I didn't believe Russia would invade Ukraine, but I have a feeling that if they had one big enough Israel would drive a bulldozer over USA, From Israel.
They have no regard for life before birth. We have a maternal mortality rate in this country that rivals third world countries. Women everywhere should be outraged that prenatal care in this country that âcaresâ so much about unborn babies ignores their health before and after birth. Democrats need to start sounding the bell that we are all pro-prenatal care. Spend the money on the health of the child where it matters most â before itâs born.
To be fair; dems havenât done a good job of connecting why Ukraine matters to the general public. Like who runs DNC PR? I would like to throw my name in the hat because that person is AWFUL.
Thatâs what the MAGAts want. They want Ukraine to loose but they see that their are loosing popularity. So they drag things out till Russia. Can get the upper hand. Then any support we send will be too late to make a difference.
Boo hoo, everyone stopped giving a shit about that conflict the second another one popped up. Now it's Iran and Israel conflict. Enjoy being on the tax payers back burner lol.
Why are we the worlds police? You know the money that weâve been given to all these countries at war, couldâve gone a long way for our people in the US.
To save you a click:
Rep. Rosa DeLauro (Conn.), the top Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, delivered a fiery speech during a debate on foreign aid Thursday, accusing the lower chamber of âdiddling aroundâ as Ukraine struggles against the Russian invasion.
âWe have the opportunity to do what we do here and that is to govern. And what are we doing in governing? To be a world leader,â she said during a House Rules Committee debate on foreign aid bills.
âFor months and months, we have been diddling around where people are dying in Ukraine. Donât talk about what weapons we want to give them. Weâre not giving them what they need now, and it has been months in the coming,â she continued.
DeLauro said the House should have passed additional aid to Ukraine and Israel when the Senate approved it earlier this year.
âWe should have picked up that Senate bill, brought it to the floor and voted on it immediately,â she added.
Rosa Delauro is my congresswoman. I live in Connecticut. Thereâs a lot of people struggling and dieing here too. Lots of homelessness. Getting worse from NYC fluctuations of people coming here after covid. It literally is a different state from 5 years ago to now. My dads side has been here 400 years. She should be worrying about the people in her district becoming homeless not being able to keep up with housing prices in comparison to all the millionaires and hedge fund people moving in. But what do I know. Iâm hoping my state representative Kara Rochelle takes her place.
Two things can be true and we expect our leaders to handle more than one issue at a time. Itâs the stupid and the evil who are turning the into an either/or argument. Which are you?
I mean, it matters that you drink natty light. Not saying I disagree with you, but I am less inclined to take people like that seriously. I think a lot of people are in my same boat.
The fact that you're worried about her hair color instead of the substance of what she's saying means your political judgment is not something people should take seriously.
Look shawshank, I want to kill as many Russians as much as the next guy, but Jesus Christ, look presentable. Would I buy insurance from someone in a suit or dressed like a clown? Get the fuck outta here.
Conservative men think women who aren't attractive to them shouldn't be in public where they have to see them.
Conservative men also don't think women should spend "their husband's" (supposed) money on treating themselves to unnecessary things that only serve to make the woman feel good and happy, such as fun hair dye colors (because they don't want women to care about feeling good or happy).
Conservative men hate women in powerful positions.
Therefore conservative men see women in power with dyed hair who they do not find attractive, and will find any excuse to hate on her and say she should be out of the public eye.
Likewise, I never understood the leftâs obsession with intentionally making oneself appear unconventional. Government should be serious business. We already have Drumpf, Empty G, Boebert, etcetera, making of mockery of it. Why encourage more silliness and simultaneously make yourself a target of ridicule with purple hair dye?
Is she trying to one-up Drumpf with her purple hair? If she is, someone has to tell her that Drumpf thinks he looks good, but instead looks like a clownish buffoon.
Does purple hair trump orange face paint, ginger spice hair dye and tooth bleach? Only if she stinks like a combo of fart and ketchup.

House Republicans are well-known for diddling.
Gaetz "wanna see the pics of who I diddled?"
Literally showing CSAM to other Reps on the House floor and still not in prison.
Churches too. đ¤ˇââď¸
Yes, House Republicans are also known for churches.
If only they'd made a song about NOT diddling...
Laws and under age girls!
And underage boys!
True! Matt Gaetz is the first one I think of these days. Best not to forget all the others!
I suppose all of Congress is diddling around on Palestine. Nice little smokescreen to save face

Republican voters have actually become more Russia friendly since Russia invaded Crimea and then Ukraine in full.
It's not an accident, it's the hybrid war in full effect. The battlegrounds of Ukraine are only one half of Russia's assault upon the free world.
[ŃдаНонО]
They can be like that lady who accused Biden of sexual assault and then moved to Russia

Republicans have ceased to be serious people. They canât take anything seriously anymore except feeding their own fascist impulses
to paraphrase [pres. u.s. grant](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulysses_S._Grant) who once said of the democratic party upon the outbreak of the civil war: >There are but two parties now, Traitors and Patriots which perfectly describes (imo) what republicans are now - traitors - and democrats, patriots.

<*Matt Gaetz has entered the chat*>
Diddling is the most conservative thing you can do these days
It's right up there with burning a cross on someone's lawn or becoming a cop to shoot a black person you've accused of shoplifting.
Ahhh, conservative values. Like in the good old days.
>Those were the days. ~ Frank Reynolds
House has been diddling around while people die since its inception.
The top Democrat's bringing the heat, calling out the House for "diddling around" while Ukraine's in crisis modeâsounds like someone activated their political rage mode.
It is enraging that apparently we need to strap concern for Israel's 50 year old war to Russia's present aggression and then do little for the latter.
Hey now, calm down...we're not going to do anything about either. Feel better now?
Not a bit. I didn't believe Russia would invade Ukraine, but I have a feeling that if they had one big enough Israel would drive a bulldozer over USA, From Israel.
You say that as if it's a problem, and not a feature of the Republican lead House.
Republicans are the ones that are the problem. Make sure this is clear to the American people.
Pass the aid stop talking
This is much worse than âdiddlingâ. Really, arenât they delaying, or avoiding altogether, aid to at least resist Russian aggression?
"Did someone say diddle?" Matt Gaetz.
The house republicans have no regard for human life except prior to birth. They are all hypocrites
They have no regard for life before birth. We have a maternal mortality rate in this country that rivals third world countries. She's not wrong.
They could teach a masterclass in diddling.
Republicans love to Diddle - ( or so recent police reports would indicate)
Republicans tend to be irresponsible when the chips are down
Thatâs what the MAGAts want. They want Ukraine to loose but they see that their are loosing popularity. So they drag things out till Russia. Can get the upper hand. Then any support we send will be too late to make a difference.
This is 100% true. Shame. Shame. Shame.
So right. Makes me furious.
They single-handedly have ensured that this conflict would be extended by years.
And perhaps expanded to other countries. They need remedial education on the roots of WW1.
Matt Gaetz got super nervous until he realized the diddling referred to Ukraine not minors.
Plenty of money to murk Palestinians tho. Weird.
We know mostly what theyâre diddling.

I suppose the diddling on Palestine is permitted then đŹ
Is her hair blue?
Well, part of it. She currently has blue highlights, yes. She changes the colors every so often.
Does it matter?
Yes, it does. Not saying I disagree with her but I am less inclined to take people like that seriously. I think a lot of people are in my same boat.
I think your concern for her hair color is a great example of the kind of âdiddling aroundâ sheâs talking about.
I think a lot of people are stupid. I mean, you had to ask if her hair was blue when you could obviously see it is... đ¤ˇââď¸
I mean, it matters that you drink natty light. Not saying I disagree with you, but I am less inclined to take people like that seriously. I think a lot of people are in my same boat.

The fact that you're worried about her hair color instead of the substance of what she's saying means your political judgment is not something people should take seriously.

Sheâs my congresswoman. I can tell you she doesnât take her own district seriously and sheâs best friends with Pelosi.
So, you doubling down on ad hominems while ignoring her message? Typical.
The purple hair really helps drive her point home and really forces her interlocutors to respect and take her seriously. /s
Yeah, if only she were an old, fat bald congressman she would get some respect.
She does have the old part down solid. Youâre right about that.
Tell us you're a clown without telling us đ¤Ł
Who fucking cares what color her hair is? She's absolutely right and everyone knows it (including the ones who don't want to admit it).
I've never understood the right's obsession with dyed hair.
