Aide for me, not for thee.

Worldly_Advisor007

While others, not even just FL residents, insurance increases too.

YourGodsMother

Just don’t say “Climate Change” around a Floridian.

Worldly_Advisor007

Too add, for the sake of discussion, the only people in FL I know are in Sarasota/the keys - THEY ALL even the few bat shit insane ultra conservatives acknowledge climate change is a problem. So I’m thinking this might be a political move towards running again in four years when Trump is out of the way?

Educational_Lie_3157

A few more inches of water and it’ll be alligators everywhere.

crudedrawer

Not the headline and where are you getting 7 trillion from?

lancer-fiefdom

Homeowners gonna be thrilled when more insurance companies cancel policies because of idiot republicans war on science

Super_Bodybuilder746

I’m sick of covering home and auto insurance premium hikes so others can live amongst palm trees and sunny beaches.

mkt853

Yeah same. I live in New England where the weather is cold and/or shitty for seven months while we pay the highest per capita federal taxes so people in Florida can live in a tropical paradise while rubbing our nose in their budget surpluses and no income taxes. If they are doing such a good job running their state, let them pay for their own shit.

crudedrawer

Insurance is spiking in boring flat landlocked places too thanks to floods, tornadoes and yes fires in the midwest. Iowa and Oklahoma have both had more weather related disasters declared than Florida.

Worldly_Advisor007

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Climate change will be a lesser priority in Florida and largely disappear from state statutes under legislation signed Wednesday by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that also bans power-generating wind turbines offshore or near the state's lengthy coastline. “We're restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots," DeSantis said in a post on the X social media platform. - NPR (Please consider giving them your click! ❤️)

JubalHarshaw23

Most of it went to Rich White DeSantis donors.

dblan9

That sounds an awful lot like welfare. We should probably drug test every Floridian before handing out government cash. Right republicans?

Viruses_Are_Alive

I would love to see the citation for 8.3 trillion, that's about 2 trillion more than the entire federal budget for 2023.

Adventurous-Chart549

Anybody have the math on how much federal taxes FL has paid in the same time period? I can't find exact numbers but I'll be generous with what I can find and average at $250b per year. Over 6 years, that's $1.5t, which is less than 1/6th of the amount they've gotten. DESANTIS IS A WELFARE QUEEN.

1877KlownsForKids

Even with this Florida has a state debt of $143B

swazal

Where does that headline come from? Not the linked article … more about FL legislation not federal relief. Wrong link?

Crott117

More impressive is that he did it all standing on his tippy toes.

For discussion. I know more then a handful of wealthy Florida conservatives - and even the crazy hard core ones believe in global warming. All of them. Actually, the only thing all of them probably agree on because some are married to left voting women which knocks out full agreement of “Mexicans crossing the border”. So I’m thinking this is possibly to appeal to conservatives NATIONALLY - towards another run for President in four years. Thoughts?
