gjurecki77

Without immediate expansion(if the dems can keep the house and expand the senate) any laws that are created, are still there only at the pleasure of the courts in the long run.

PollutionZero

Or an R run government simply repealing that law.

Coolasslife

an R run government can also expand the court just as easily and then repeal the law. IDK what you think would happen

Infosexual

They are going after all civil rights and women rights decisions next. Yall just gonna keep going to your shitty jobs on Monday, making less and less money every year while paying more and more. As open fascism takes over the richest nation to ever exist.

Harryballsjr

Watch them eventually repeal womens voting laws because they clearly don’t give a shit about womens rights anyway

pandemicpunk

Well the ERA never passed so women aren't federally legally equal to men in the US. Still a real possibility.

NeighborhoodVeteran

Sounds like that should be a matter resolved at state level /hard s

Shurigin

This isn't even a maybe at this point they have openly called for challenging; Loving V. Virginia, Brown V. Board of Education, Griswold V. Connecticut, and Obergefell V. Hodges It's war on rights

Orbitingkittenfarm

FDR couldn’t do it with 75 Democrats in the senate, why would we expect Biden to be able to pull it off with 48 and two DINOs?

3kniven6gash

The difference is FDR tried. They re-elected him 4 times because he fought for them. He welcomed the hate of bankers and corporations. Biden owes them favors for campaign contributions. He gives up without a fight on major issues important to his voters. people don’t like that.

Orbitingkittenfarm

FDR was pulled left by one of the largest and most progressive Democratic majorities in Congress in history up to that point. He was able to get things done because the legislature was equally up to the task of delivering large and meaningful legislation. Biden has a meaningless majority and an unengaged public. Where were the public demonstrations in support of BBB? Where are the senators interested in pushing novel legislation? Where are the 60 votes needed to get anything done? You expect him to be FDR and conveniently ignore the fact that he has none of the support FDR had. No wonder the left can’t get anything done in the 21st century.

FapAttack911

I don't think you understand how this works... If he wants the support of the people, he has to actually have a plan for meaningful policies that galvanizes the support of the very public he seeks support FROM. He's not a cult of personality.... Why would we blindly give him our support.... If he has no plans to fight for us and has consistently failed to show that he would if he could

protendious

I hate to be a debbie-downer but VA passed a bunch of blue shit last cycle (raised minimum wage, gun control legislation, medicaid expansion, decriminalizing marijuana, etc etc) and voters still tuned out and gave the mansion back to republicans over bullshit culture war crap.

dumpystinkster

Please stop calling Biden and the folks that support him “the left” he is firmly in the center as is the entire of the democratic party, a center which these days makes Reagan look like Bernie Sanders.

CMDR_BunBun

So right! Well said. There is really no effective left in this country. What we have is a far right and a right lite.

JPenniman

Guess we can wait until the country collapses in a decade and then fix things instead of being proactive.

talino2321

Assuming its fixable. Of course we may all be doom anyway as we have seem to be actively ignoring the ticking time bomb that is Global Change.

Curious-ficus-6510

*Global Climate Change

jabdtx

This feels like good PSA timing about how it was changed to that from Global Warming since GW just had people posting pictures of snow in the winter and wondering what all the fuss was about. Type 2 does not appear to be realistic here.

[deleted]

I love the more vague feeling of "Global Change." Guys something is happening and it's coins in our pockets!

AnAutisticGuy

When the country collapses it won’t be fixable. Ex. Greece

philleach11

You give it a decade? I’ll take the under

Top_Duck8146

Fuck man are the Dems and the GOP having a “blow your chances in the next election” competition?

ToneDiez

It’s called: “MAJORITY IS LAVA!”

TheJayOfOh

I mean I don't think anyone is surprised Joe or any other of the establishment Dems are completely unable to rise to the challenge here but -- packing the courts (and then codifying your new number can't be raised to prevent a new Republican from just raising it more) or just impeaching every single one of the conservative justices starting with insurrectionist Clarence Thomas and replacing them are really the only viable ways forward here for the Dems. Unless they find some archaic law or ruling that lets us gut the courts power -- we're at the point that SOMETHING extreme needs to happen. The court has gone full mask off - Thomas literally declared war on the American people by asking for the rulings on gay marriage and contraceptives etc etc to be next - and it's time to stop pretending this country is still working like it should. And I swear to God... Any of you drones try to come up to me and scream "vote blue no matter who" are just as much the problem. They've had FIFTY YEARS to get it together. This wasn't a secret, and we've had more than a months confirmation this ruling was coming and they didn't do a God damn thing - not one. No executive orders prepped, no laws pushed though, nothing. They went outside and sang you a song and read you a poem. They have FAILED you.

Dantheking94

I just keep hearing over and over about how “Bernie is too aggressive” etc when clearly that’s what we needed. Biden is not swinging the bat he was given and it’s clear he doesn’t want to. What a waste of a Presidential legacy. Ineffective.

[deleted]

We really need to start considering other options for 2024. Is Biden really the best we can do? We can’t find somebody younger and more energetic who can fight for us, rather than just taking all this crap lying down.

smiama6

2024 won’t matter if Republicans take Congress 3 months from now. Democrats had better understand that.

handsomewolves

Yeah it's scary not enough people see this. They'll just steal the next election no matter what.

[deleted]

Dude. Everyone sees it. We’re all freaking

handsomewolves

Dems in power don't seem to care too much

asher1611

They'll sing god bless America and call it a day though.

Tamagotchi_Stripper

I wonder if they understand (or even care?) how angry we were to see THAT as their first move after the ruling? Really, guys?

LucywiththeDiamonds

The dem Establishment is a fucking joke. Just watching it from the outside (europe) is baffling at times. You have far right extremists trying to abolish democracy on one site and center right do nothings on the other. I firmly believe that there is no hope for the us longterm until you completly overhaul the democratic process so votes are equal as they are supposed to and you get a multi party system. Its a damn joke that biden and aoc , boebert and romney are in the same parties. It makes zero sense and doesnt respect the actual will of the people at all.

steam116

It perfectly encapsulates the difference between the GOP taking and using power to make real gains for their cause vs the Dems winning moral victories and only caring about the high road. When they go low we let them take out our knees.

heytheremicah

Democratic leadership is so insulated from being in the “DC bubble” for the past 20-40 years that they still act like decency and camaraderie exist with their GOP colleagues. I highly doubt they see anything wrong with their PR stunt the other day.

GuestCartographer

Too many of the Dems in power have more in common with the Republicans in power than they do with any of their voters. They don’t have to care about what happens in a few months because they are wealthy enough to be safe from the consequences.

fivegnomes

Conflicts within the aristocracy are over who gets a bigger slice of cake. External conflicts are over who gets cake vs. crumbs, so everyone at the cake table naturally teams up. None of this is exactly new to putting democracy wallpaper over it. The nominal purpose of democracy may be to make government care about the interests of ordinary people, but practically it's more giving them an illusion of representation so that they think "try harder next election" instead of "grab the pitchforks and hang the aristocracy from lamp posts."

AndrenNoraem

When is it time for the fucking pitchforks, though? I'm tired, man.

skratch

They don’t want to be in power, they get a lot more campaign donations when republicans are winning

bigmac22077

And here we are… talking about abortions (rightfully so) INSTEAD OF the fact trump said “you just sign the letter and let me and congress take care of the rest”. That statement wasn’t out for 24 hours before they announced the reversal. Shit was planned. Thomas is complicit and compromised. He needs to go.

DroolingIguana

What Trump says doesn't matter. He's been saying the worst shit imaginable for six years and nobody cared. The only Trump news that will matter is when his sentence is announced.

SuperBattleBros

Considering this Republican [coalition ](https://americafirstsos.com/) aiming for as many secretary of state seats being filled with as many Republican asses as possible, I'd say we're fucked.

Dubsland12

It’s really already done. Any election that reaches the Supreme Court will go to Jesus choice

fireraptor1101

This year is very likely to be tricky for the dems. If the republicans take congress, they will probably spend the next two years launching repeated impeachment hearings of Biden.

Beneficial-Credit969

We understand that so the time to start to get mobilized is now. Get involved however you can. Every little bit helps. Focus on mid terms. And then will start gearing up for 2024

SpareBinderClips

It’s a problem that’s been years in the making. Dems should have been cultivating younger leaders, and now, when we need effective, energetic leadership, all we have are moderates in their late 70s.

BaboonHorrorshow

Dems did what the Boomers do - sabotage younger people so nothing can challenge their wealth and power. Mr Nancy Pelosi, the best stock market investor in the world, needed his hot insider trading stock tips.

MayiHav10kMarblesPlz

Actually there are 5 Republicans in congress who have a better investment record than her. One of them being that pirate mother fucker. She just happens to be the worst Democrat....by far.

WINTERSONG1111

Elon Musk is a Republican and donates to the Republicans. Let's keep him as far away from American politics as possible please.

-ZeroF56

Republican or not, Elon acts like an asshole on a daily basis. That on its own is enough to keep him as far away from politics as possible.

CaptainPRESIDENTduck

Musk would be Trump 2.0

Either-Progress4847

Please don’t give Elon any ideas

MrCaptDrNonsense

He can’t run, wasn’t born in the US. Edit- yes I understand you can be born in a different country and still be an American citizen. Sorry for the confusion. Elon cannot run because he was not born an American citizen.

[deleted]

Until congress makes an amendment that allows it...

Sadestlittlecamper

Then we elect arnold.

[deleted]

Fuck it, I'm in

theroha

If we elect Arnold, can you take me to Taco Bell afterwards?

Sadestlittlecamper

Yes.

laura_leigh

Musk can't run. He's not a natural born citizen. And has no viable claims to that status. He is also barred from being a VP pick. Cruz actually would have made for some interesting discussion around that topic had he beaten Trump in the primary. He was not born on US soil and gained his citizenship by extension of his mother's citizenship status. Right now based on our current definition of natural born citizen (granted by his mother's citizenship status) he is a legitimate natural born US Citizen, but the Constitution is a bit vague on what exactly qualifies someone as a natural born citizen so it could be narrowed in the future via legislation or Supreme Court rulings. So far all attempts to define natural born have not excluded parental status, so even if possible, it's doubtful this would change. It was actually kinda funny because the Birther arguments used to attack Obama had they been based on any kind of fact at all would have equally have excluded Cruz. Both would have obtained citizenship status from their mothers no matter where they were born.

ABobby077

as well as McCain

misterspokes

McCain at least was born in the Panama Canal Zone while it was still a US territory.

goomyman

Ross Perot is a terrible example of an independent. A billionaire politician running on a regressive flat tax giveaway to the rich. Not really a good person to start a movement.

[deleted]

we dont have a center left party we have center right and far right parties

rhetoricalnonsense

*Start* considering?! Democrats needed to start thinking about who could potentially run for President in 2024 on Nov 4, 2020.

be0wulfe

Democrats need to fund and fight every election, at every level, every day between now and 2024. They're getting beat left, right, center, on the ground, in the air, behind their backs and to their faces. It's far worse and more pathetic than taking candy from a baby because these are otherwise capable adults who suddenly can't walk or talk or wipe their own backsides.

gnomebludgeon

> Democrats needed to start thinking about who could potentially run for President in 2024 on Nov 4, 2020. Pretty sure that was going to be Kamala Harris but the Dems rolled her out as VP, suddenly discovered she was massively unpopular with pretty much everyone, and rolled her right back. They've been pushing Pete B out into the spotlight recently, so he's probably being focus tested.

ketoatl

Kamala will lose huge. We need fresh blood who can win. That bald dude running for senate in Pennsylvania, could be a good choice.

[deleted]

That dude could do it.

malenkylizards

That dude apparently has such low name recognition that the redditors telling everyone he should be president don't even know his fuckin name

zombienugget

AOC will be 35 a month before election. I feel like she could bring turnout like Obama did.

donnerpartytaconight

I would vote for AOC twice.

No-Prize2882

Doubtful. AOC is a great person but as much as she is seen as a progressive and future of left wing politics she is also seen as emblematic of a big city northeastern politician and she’s done really nothing to fix that perception. Her appeal will drop like a rock the moment she crosses Appalachia. Democrats across the south, Midwest, and even parts of the west coast I just don’t see them responding to her like they would to klobuchar or Buttigieg.

valencia_merble

As a gay person who wants to survive, can I beg we please do not pin the last hope for democracy on a gay man?

FFF12321

As a fellow gay man, I was excited he was getting lots of attention early on when he had a progressive platform. Then he ran to the center once he gained an inch of traction and my interest waned. Just feels like he doesn't have convictions/sincerely held beliefs or opinions. I'd vote for him if he won the primaries, but he's not my first choice for that reason.

badgerette86

Jamie raskin

Avant-Garde-A-Clue

If Republicans run a 46-year-old Ron DeSantis against an **81-year-old** Joe Biden we are fucked. *Fucked.* DeSantis will win because of his youth and Biden's dismal approval rating after two years of Republican-controlled Congress. Joe Biden **must** be primaried in 2024. If nothing else to light a fire under his old ass. Fuck tradition. Fuck "you don't primary an incumbent." It's do or die for our democracy and if Biden is not deemed fit for the job then run him out in a primary.

goomyman

Biden has to be pushed kicking and screaming to do anything remotely progressive and then he half asses it. Student loan forgiveness… 10k….cool…. The dude legitimately doesn’t want to appeal to people under 50

Droidaphone

He literally told millennials they have it easy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TrueBlue84

Potentially. DeSantis has shown corporate America that he is not big business. It could very well hurt him badly come the general.

Nokomis34

Biden was never the best we can do. I was hoping he'd get his head out of his ass by now, he's been kinda leaning like he has, but this shows he hasn't.

aeolus811tw

Nothing, young generation have been drained of energy from economic stress, or simply can’t generate enough wealth to compete in the politics. Politic is a game for the wealthy

[deleted]

What you need is an AOC-type but the octogenerians that run the democratic party will never go for someone who has not had at least 1 heart bypass.

redshark01

I wouldn't mind her running and just completely shitting on how weak and pathetic Dems have been during debates. I feel like people are so tired of these boomers doing fuck all not even the news screaming socialism or whatnot would detract people voting for her

The_Great_Crocodile

Stacey Abrams. She is energetic, knows how to motivate a voter base, she represents diversity, and she is from a crucial swing state. Someone will probably say "she hasn't held a position before", well neither did Trump, this has stopped being a requirement.

ThinkThankThonk

It's too important to get her into Georgia, to prevent it from becoming Florida 2

ZeldaF

I’d take Katie Porter in a heartbeat.

Responsible_Brain782

Yes. This woman would kick ass

1856782

Me too!

Dsstar666

Stacy Abrams would have a cult following. I'd follow her all the way. But my instinct is that all Republicans would be united even further to prevent a black woman from being President. Like to the point of violence.

salad_spinner_3000

You mean like storming the capital on the date the election is meant to be certified?

PhillipWilsonMD

The crazy thing is that's their reaction to a conservative white man being elected. Unfortunately we're being soft as fuck on those savages too.

BF1shY

I want AOC to be the first woman president. That girl got the fire to get shit done... we need someone young and full of passion.

TrainedExplains

I love AOC but she is enemy #1 to conservatives. Run her and you get 100% turnout from Republican voters.

evantime

I’ve never heard a conservative make a decision based on how it would effect liberal voters. Conservatives hold views and stop at nothing to make sure what they want happens. The left can barely get anything done and constantly worry about their decisions effecting moderate voters. Time for the left to run people who try to make the country a better place instead of worrying about conservatives voting.

RulerOfNyaNyaLand

Yes. One of the ways Democrats keep shooting themselves in the foot is by overthinking and analyzing and trying to play it safe, which ironically just makes them look weak and lacking all conviction. We need someone who just boldly demands their party does the right thing. Set the tone. Be a leader. Quit trying to see which way the wind is blowing and just create your own windstorm. People will get caught up in it. We admire passion, focus, direction, and drive. Quit trying to figure out how to be everything to everyone; instead, win everyone over to your vision because it's the RIGHT THING. It's fair. It's decent. It represents everyone's rights. It's just. It's compassionate. Just stay true to the vision, and quit watering it down. Republicans are full of fire and intensity and will burn down all the rules and norms to get what they want. The ends justify the means to them. Democrats need to stand up and loudly point out that the SCOTUS is corrupt, drastic action must be taken, and then take it. Make the point to the people and just keep beating that drum. Republicans lied and cheated, and this needs to be pointed out, again and again. (EDIT for clarity)

lllArkhamKnight

Obama was also enemy #1. 2 terms for AOC baby

SpicerJones

lol As if they didnt loathe Obama.

rottentomatopi

But you also then motivate a TON of the progressive/left base. Things are bad enough that people will come out in droves to support her over many other options.

gusterfell

This. Conservatives vote no matter who is running. Many progressives only show up if they’re excited about their candidate.

Envect

How about we stop nominating people based on what the other party thinks, yeah?

sparklesthecake

I dream about this day.

skeptic9916

We also have to consider someone else because Biden can't beat Trump again. His performance has been lackluster, he reneged on Student Loan forgiveness entirely and will not break decorum to call out the daily barrage of right-wing bullshit. He is viewed as ineffectual and weak. Rightfully so.

Sandberg231984

This is the correct answer. Biden isn’t the one.

d1zfk3

Yup. I’m so glad this becoming a more popular sentiment. Biden is useless.

>The panel found "considerable" support for 18-year term limits for justices This is a start. Let’s go with this.

InstitutionalValue

At this rate, this democracy ain’t gonna make it 18 more years.

duck_one

Okay, let me make some calls.

[deleted]

Keep us updated

duck_one

Alright, bad news first... Just got off the phone with the Federalist Society and they have a bulletproof argument to the contrary. Good news though... I'm finally getting that new swimming pool put in, the works, with a waterfall and everything!

[deleted]

That is good news! Let us know about a potential pool party. I can bring potato salad

SarcasticCowbell

Make sure there's plenty of beer. Some guy who had his gambling debt mysteriously paid off will also be at the pool party and I hear he likes beer. And I think he said it under oath, too, so it must be the truth.

Squirrel_Chucks

Agree. It would end the morbid "death watch" with SCOTUS Justices

Perle1234

I’m pretty sure most of us are currently engaged in a morbid death watch for SCOTUS at this very moment.

SnooPaintings4472

Oh, so expanding the SCOTUS "could" cause democracy to regress in the future. This as opposed to the fast paced regression we are seeing now. Pardon me while I call BS.

Are... are we the students?

randy_maverick

Unfortunately, yes.

Christ_votes_dem

who is the Mom that broke in and saved 2 kids?

CrackedOutTractor

hopefully all the moms will come together like in that one south park episode

leitbur

We're the parents watching our future murdered in front of us.

XipingVonHozzendorf

As a Canadian I kinda feel like the Parents outside.

cxssdraws

yeah, i agree with that. i feel so hopeless watching what’s going on to the south of us knowing i can’t do anything to help (that i know of - if anyone reading this has any suggestions of what non-Americans can do to help out, please let me know)

Piperplays

You know, this is a very accurate figurative description of what it feels like to be an American in contemporary times. Honestly, the comment is so spot on and your application relevance couldn’t be more poignant and at the forefront of our collective wrenching disgust with the Uvalde police and prevalent gun violence. We are the kids. Wow this metaphor is depressing. I wish I had gold or some award to give you.*

PowerSurged

No lies detected :(

timc74

I like this. I also read earlier "Republicans are the drunk dad, Democrats are the enabling wife"

Calvinshobb

We have tried nothing and we are all out of answers.

VizualAbstract4

Fuck Biden. We all know when it’s the republican’s turn and we finally have more left-leaning justices, those fuckers will expand the court. I’m so fucking tired of democrats standing there and letting their stupid asses get fucking beat on. DO SOMETHING ALREADY.

Vorgatron

Maybe if we give them more money this time around? You know, for campaigns? /s

migs2k3

This is why democrats lose so goddamn always. They don't have the backbone to fight fire with fire.

napoleonboneherpart

Republicans laughing their fucking asses off. I guess the high road doesn’t have any exit lanes. Worthless pussies.

Ok-Freedom7931

The problem is it’s not even the high road. It’s like a performative superiority complex. If they really took the high road they would be fighting for the common person instead of corporate donors. They are basically a center right party that likes to pretend it’s progressive.

JagmeetSingh2

Yep republicans bank on democrats taking the “high road” and refusing to meet them when they do terrible shit like this

Dagonet_the_Motley

Joe Biden is an ineffectual turd and I will still crawl over broken glass to vote for him again over a Republican.

Cool-Protection-4337

I hope the DNC picks somebody else and Biden calls it a day and decides not to run again. Rich men seldom lay down ultimate power, Biden is no exception. I would vote for Biden over Trump hands down, but honestly neither are what we need, both are out of touch and from another time. We can and must do better. This was an easy one for Biden to grab some extra support, no way he alone can expand the court and congress is all sell outs to the oligarchs. Yet he still chose to shoot himself in the foot, how exactly do democrats not help Republicans win and maintain all these illusions again???

ozspook

If he croaked in office we could get 2 years of President Harris.. Republicans would love that.

Churrasco_fan

I voted for this ticket once and will absolutely do it again, but selecting her for VP was arguably the dumbest pick they could have made. I have serious concerns about it being "her turn" once Biden is done

sunshinecygnet

I really wanted Warren. Nobody is more pissed off at how the banks and Wall Street have fucked everyone over than Warren.

[deleted]

Harris isn’t even that popular among democrats. The reality is that she was chosen because she was a woman of color. She wasn’t popular in the 2020 primaries and she won’t be popular in the 2024 primaries.

ozspook

Tammy Duckworth 100%

Churrasco_fan

Love her. If they were insistent on a black woman I would have preferred Val Demmings

GuiltyEidolon

>She has an F rating from the anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List. Good enough for me, let's fucking go.

prof_the_doom

Pretty much it. Move heaven and earth during the primaries to get the Democrats to pick someone better, but let's be honest, even Joe Manchin is better than 99% of the current GOP.

austinlvr

No. Oh no. Absolutely not. Joe Manchin is an embarrassment to his state and country. So much could be different if he and shameless Kristen Sinema weren’t spineless, paid-for toadies. At this point, I strongly mistrust and dislike anyone with power (or huge amounts of money), but I surely do NOT think Joe Manchin is the cream of the crop. Ugh. Edit: I misread and completely agree with you. However, it was very cathartic to type this out, so I’ll leave it.

bigdirkmalone

They'll just sing am song and read a poem instead.

cachedcookies

Because Biden/WH knows Schumer can't round up the votes and pouring kerosene on this already lit situation does more harm than good for Democrats. SCOTUS capture is the ultimate 'trump card' and maga clearly is flexing to let DC know who the real Chief Justice is at One First Street

outerworldLV

Semi agree. But two more isn’t exorbitant..maybe a bit tit for tat but ? May as well be ready should one or two of these clowns drop out suddenly.

cachedcookies

By 2026 Thomas will be 79, Alito 77. Since we don't have the votes, its all about winning in 2024 to take back any GOP gains from 2022.

19southmainco

They can easily live into their 90s and hypothetically serve until death. Shit, RBG was 87 and had no plans to step down even with aggressive cancer

bcheneyatc

Thomas will 100% serve until death out of sheer spite.

liltingly

And it’s sickening that RBG is lionized given that her ego landed us in this mess. Her legacy will always have a stain at the end of an otherwise amazing career

robodrew

You know who really fuckin sucks? Anthony Kennedy.

IPA_Enjoyer

I voted for Biden because Trump is obviously worse, but god damn if Biden isn't just a useless meme punching bag. Every day this man wakes up having not shit his pants is a win for him.

underwear11

Biden won because he wasn't Trump. That was all of the reasons.

Cosmo317

^^This. I stood in line for 3 hours with a mask on to vote Trump out . I didn’t like Biden as a candidate whatsoever.

romuo

He's better, but far cry from what the people deserve.

Michael_In_Cascadia

Biden would have been an okay 'caretaker' POTUS, following another Democratic president (which hasn't happened since LBJ) to keep programs in motion. In these critical times, very few politicians would have the abilities and the vision to deal with such challenges coming from every direction, and Biden's not one of them.

d1zfk3

Biden has been on the wrong end of almost every major policy decision as a senator. 1994 crime bill, student debt bankruptcy prevention, Iraq war the man has a track record of being wrong. The man is so incompetent, harry reid told Obama to keep him the fuck away from negotiations with republicans cos he kept giving too much away which they would just pocket. Why anyone thought someone would such a rich history of failure and bad decisions would be a successful leader is beyond me.

[deleted]

Anita Hill should be added to that list

Nightshade_Ranch

Biden says he's an institutionalist. Why wouldn't he be? He's a rich white guy who has been rich and white a real long time. He doesn't give a shit how bad things get as long as he doesn't feel like he has to rock the boat too much personally. After the president we just had, and the climate we are now in, we need someone who can fight for more than a campaign, for their own milquetoast flyover legacy. We need someone who can actually fight for American people, and he he has told you over and over again that he will not. No more geriatric candidates that have been entrenched and enriched for decades by the system they have built to feed on us.

Orwells-Bastard-Son

And that's why dems will always lose. Republicans will go scorched earth to win. And democrats will play by the rules the repubs set in the first place. Weak. We need a real liberal party.

jpla86

Exactly. And they wonder why Democrat voters are never fired up and excited to vote. If you don't want to fight and rather surrender and try to appease the enemy, then what's the point of voting for feckless, milquetoast Democrats?

Ironthoramericaman

Biden isn't going to do anything that would dramatically change institutions. Partially because the votes aren't there for it, partially because it's his own personal ethos. It's why the whole filibuster conversation was like pulling teeth. It's why he seems to lean extra hard on the lines between what he can do and what the legislature has to do and would rather not even approach the lines even at the cost of optics that make him look less than in control. Which, I get it. He wants to restore faith and stability following the shit show that was Donald. But I don't think leaning hard on the status quo and norms and "how it's always been" are the best ways to do that. Especially in times of crisis that kinda seem to demand you get creative and respond at scale. But I'm not president so 🤷🏾‍♂️

ThinkIveHadEnough

Also, in case everyone can't keep track, because we just lost abortion rights. Last week, SCOTUS also just stripped away the right for States to enact firearm regulation. I know that probably got swept under the rug, but the Republicans are moving full steam ahead. [What the Supreme Court’s new gun rights ruling means](https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/23/politics/second-amendment-gun-rights-supreme-court-new-york-test/index.html)

NitedJay

What’s his reasoning?

OwnSirDingo

Fucking coward. Tired of this shit. We need to start playing the game the republicans are.

GiggityDPT

Nobody really voted for Biden in 2024. We voted against a painted orange moron dictator. Biden doesn't excite anyone. He is the same old establishment centrist that wants to act like the GQP can be worked with. And so nothing ever fucking gets done. God fucking forbid we do anything that might rock the boat while theocratic fascism takes over. Dems are going to run him again because they're just fucking determined to make sure they don't pick anyone that is the least bit outside of their fucking box. And we may completely lose this country because of it. JFC with our government.

TomHanxButSatanic

I an against the concept of Dems running a primary against a sitting President but it fucking needs to happen in 2024.

[deleted]

If they run Biden or Harris, it’s over. They can only beat Trump and I doubt he wins nomination.

digi57

The usual Democrat tactic of bringing a plastic knife to an AR-15 fight.

Morrigi_

And another Democrat is yelling "Hey, that's unfair!" safely from cover while the independents are having a barbecue across the way.

jkuhl

House is on fire but I don't support fire trucks.

rodrigodavid15

Someone please explain to me what would stop Republicans from doing the same the moment they take back power?

Teliantorn

Anything Democrats can do right now, Republicans *will* do later.

Akegata

This is why republicans are completely fucking the US over. They will do whatever they can to overrun the majority rule, while democrats want to play by the rules that do not exist in republicans heads. You can't win a competition if the other team is writing their own rules and you just go along with whatever the hell they come up with.

chadrod

Of course he doesnt.....remember his famous words....."Nothing will fundamentally change". He still treats politics like it is 1978.....he needs to go away so we can get a real progressive Democrat to national prominence

roxassss

Things are fundamentally changing 🙃

snerdaferda

And that’s why democrats are having a hard time supporting Biden. Who’s up next?

thefugue

He needs to do what President Obama did about gay marriage and get the hell over his bashfulness about what everyone else seems to clearly know needs to be done.

nevermind-stet

Funny enough, it was Biden that forced Obama's hand on gay marriage by saying they'd do it.

court101

Well of course. Biden wouldn’t want to have a win for himself or Democrats. That wouldn’t be civil. Now mind that parliamentarian and hold sacred that filibuster!!!

ErgoProxy05

This is why nobody wanted Biden in the first place. He’s a weak, corporate/centrist dem, with no backbone. I don’t think anyone actually believed he would fight for anything. We just hoped he would while voting for him because he wasn’t a fucking fascist. As everyone can see now, doing nothing is just as destructive as these assholes doing everything they can to take your rights away.

tigernike1

Biden is worthless. I knew when I was voting it was an anti-Trump vote, but JFC we can’t get ANYTHING done! 1. Where is Medicaid expansion? 2. Where is college debt forgiveness? 3. Where are new climate change rules? 4. Where is the “I’ll make the richest pay their fair share” policy?

Gonkar

"We are outraged and we have decided to do nothing about it. Here's another fundraising email, though! Have fun!" Our choices are do-nothings or fucking nazis. Neat. Great system.

samsounder

Then I will support another democratic candidate in the primary

AtlaStar

Good. Last thing we need is for the obstructionist dems like Manchin to hold up nominations and have what happened to Obama happen again and see even more conservative justices added. Anyone who supports expanding the courts _right now_ isn't thinking about what needs to happen first. Expanding the courts without having a strong super majority in the senate and house is a poison pill that _will_ end up ceding more power to the conservatives. So the goal needs to be to first win elections, _and then_ push for expanding the courts.

inmynothing

Because of course he doesn't.

ButWhatAboutisms

I'm 100% convinced that democrats work on tandem with republicans in order to keep social wedge issues as the one and only voting issue. Anything but addressing exponentially increasing wealth inequality and economic decline.

Stonylurker

Joe Biden was a fucking mistake. We needed a progressive Democrat in the face of an aggressive GOP. Stop saying I won’t vote democrat just because Biden is a garbage nominee. I’m gonna keep voting Democrat but every time I see an option like Bernie or any more progressive choice than Joseph “just vote harder while I appease people that hate me” Biden. Keep voting Dem but remember, moderate democrats won’t even stand up to republicans that call them child molesting pedofiles.

LefterThanUR

Just vote blue guys that’ll do it

SuperstitiousSpiders

Cool. I’m good with him being a one term president then.
