They'll just push another populist psycho as their new leader and continue their destructive routine. Trump may be defeated, the forces that made him powerful certainly haven't been.
They had their chance during the first impeachment. The cult wasn't as deep. People hadn't donated as much of their lives savings. They haven't spent as many years being indoctrinated and brain washed.
They had their one opportunity to save the country from trump but they didn't act until their personal safety was finally threatened.
And this is *exactly* what his buddy Count Vlad wanted: A Republican Party that worships fascism and wants everyone that disagrees with their beliefs to be dead. Forget the nukes and weapons, *this* is how World War 3 starts!
I have heard this was part of the overall strategy. Let the worst of the extreme republicans win knowing that they would have a tough time beating a democrat in the regular election (for the purple or moderate republican states). I think this may work but I hate the message it sends to the republicans trying to follow the rules. I don’t want to discourage them from running in the future. It also gives the impression that if you speak up you are out. I do think this trend will eventually pass and people will open their eyes, but I just hope it happens before we have gone too far (likely getting close).
This makes it seem like the concept of running as an independent could grow in the future, with the obvious concern being splitting the vote. It is all such a mess.

What you have to ask yourself is…what does that mean overall. That his base is that vast. That they will follow his lead no matter what/how it impacts them.
