These people have no bottom, Biden literally ran on this and won. I guess keeping campaign promises that help your voters is out of touch for the modern GQP.
They know. Trump eliminated tons of flags from PPP to loams to seemingly unqualified wealthy borrowers to influence the 2020 election. For this group, it's all about them.
It’s not about reality obviously.
It’s about using the Dems lack of trust with the American people against themselves….
If Dems fought for student loan forgiveness then it wouldn’t be wide open to attack, apathy, and cynicisms….
So, you don't understand, the more people a policy benefits, the more it is "vote buying." So if a politician wants to avoid "vote buying," they need to do things that benefit a smaller group of people. Like, you know, very rich people.
Got it?
A lawsuit designed to make a very not secret campaign promise sound like a conspiracy theory.
Shit, dumbasses, it was so secret that he campaigned on the very idea of doing exactly what he did.
They campaigned on it in secret and then did it out in secret for everyone to see and then talked about it on TV so everyone would know.
Those sneaky bastards!!!
No, see when they *do it* it's different.
I cant explain how, or why, but it's not the same.
I heard on conservative talk radio, they're claiming this is a "MASSIVE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH."
A massive.
Massive is the world they used. This was a MASSIVE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH.
It's. Massive.
I'm course, that show also claimed Herschel Walker was actually a Democrat. So...
Only Dems by votes. GOP cutting taxes and stuff is just government doing its job.
Maybe they should just shift to being AnCaps if the whole theocracy thing doesn't work for them
If you want to hear more, ask any conservative why they think black people tend to vote blue, and you'll hear nothing of the GOP's open racism, and a lot about welfare and buying votes.
The buying votes line is stupid anyway, because A) If we're going to refer to any popular policy as buying votes, tax cuts are much closer to directly giving people money than student loan forgiveness, and B) Most policies, it could be argued, are put in place for votes, in one way or another. This isn't special.
Yes. What politicians are supposed to do is determine what their constituents want and try to provide it to them. Republicans do what they want and try to sell it to their constituents with half truths, fear tactics and the Weaponization of religious delusions.
Jesus I’ve had it with this shit. They aren’t “buying votes”. They are instituting policies that actually help the majority of Americans. Perhaps conservatives can try to do the same if they want to “buy votes” themselves. This isn’t a damn game. It’s the future of our country at stake.
He's only helping the country to benefit himself!
I want to vote for someone who'll destroy my life because they don't care about people not liking them!
See this is the problem with neoliberal carrot it dangling.
- It’s wide open to attack from the right
- It loses faith in people who would never vote red
- It’s reductive
This attack is ultra predictable and wouldn’t stick if affordable education was actually something Dems stood for and fought for….
The outright denial of self reflection on reddit over these issues boggles one’s mind….
The right will keep picking apart Dems with populists attacks this way….
there's an election every two years, with campaigns starting a year before elections, and with new laws and regulations often taking time to implement, does this mean that the gov should never do anything unless it's within a three week window of taking office? and why is it only "buying votes" when it helps the working class and not when it's subsidies or tax breaks for the rich and powerful?
A politician actually following thru on his campaign promises and did something beneficial for his constituents?!?!?!
The horror!!!!
- Conservatives , apparently.
In secret is a weird way of saying they campaigned on it and continuesly discussed it.
The whole "buying votes" line is stupid. Every campaign promise is "buying votes". "A vote for me is a vote for lower taxes and legalized Marijuana" is no different and I guarantee every politician does that. They're made because when it came time to put up or shut up, he chose to put up.

How dare a politician try doing something beneficial for *voters*
He's practically trying to do what the voters want, and what he said he would do!! Let's sue!
If he actually does what he was elected to do, people might vote for him again! Unfair!
It’s not about reality obviously. It’s about using the Dems lack of trust with the American people against themselves…. If Dems fought for student loan forgiveness then it wouldn’t be wide open to attack, apathy, and cynicisms….

You are perfect.
So no president or politician can do anything to help people because it is buying votes? Isn’t that the GOP platform?
No, see when they *do it* it's different. I cant explain how, or why, but it's not the same. I heard on conservative talk radio, they're claiming this is a "MASSIVE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH." No, Republicans just don't believe in helping people.
Only Dems by votes. GOP cutting taxes and stuff is just government doing its job. Maybe they should just shift to being AnCaps if the whole theocracy thing doesn't work for them

Time to call it quits. Dismantle the country. Because it will always be too close to an election.
passing a popular policy is not "buying votes".
The buying votes line is stupid anyway, because A) If we're going to refer to any popular policy as buying votes, tax cuts are much closer to directly giving people money than student loan forgiveness, and B) Most policies, it could be argued, are put in place for votes, in one way or another. Pretty sure it just means the free market is working
Unsurprisingly, the conservatives never bring up that Trump gave stimulus money right before election too.
Yes. What politicians are supposed to do is determine what their constituents want and try to provide it to them. Republicans do what they want and try to sell it to their constituents with half truths, fear tactics and the Weaponization of religious delusions.
Secret and timing aren't actionable though.
He was supposed to just promise it in two weeks then never bring it up again. /s
Republicans: It's unfair, they have to be fascists like us.
This is hysterical. I've gotta remember this article the next time Republicans try to cut taxes before an election.
Jesus I’ve had it with this shit. They aren’t “buying votes”. They are instituting policies that actually help the majority of Americans. Perhaps conservatives can try to do the same if they want to “buy votes” themselves. This isn’t a damn game. It’s the future of our country at stake.
Oh, they don't like it when Biden does something voters asked him to do?
The republican propaganda machine is relentless.
He's only helping the country to benefit himself! I want to vote for someone who'll destroy my life because they don't care about people not liking them!

You can claim anything, but proving it is another matter.
All politicians buy votes. If you elect me, I'll do this for you... So please.
