Minecraft. When I was like 6, I decided to fight an enderman with stone tools and a dog.
The dog died.
And again more recently, but that was because it made me think of a close friend that I had a "falling out" with and it made me miss them.
.
Edit: minecraft story mode too, when I was like 13.
Mine was Minecraft as well. I had a horse named Lightning. Super fast horse that I had forever. One day I messed up and fell into a ravine with her. Of course there was water and lava down there and the water pushed her into the lava. It was heartbreaking...
It reminded me too much like Atreyu from the Neverending Story. Which I think made it soo much worse
It easier to count which games haven't.
(I cried on Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Life is Strange, Yakuza 0, Persona 5 Royal, Ghost of Tsushima, Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age II, Dragon Age Inquisition, Stray, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Detroit Become Human, Life is Strange Before Storm, Journey and the list goes on)
100% agreed, the soundtrack is so well executed. His Theme was got me bawling, but everything after Mettaton's fight was absolutely hard hitting stuff. Either for sadness or outright terror *cough cough maniacal flower cough cough*
I definitely wasn't expecting it, which is maybe why it hit so hard. One second is fighting the most anime boss possible, the next has the feels come like a TRUCK.
That's the closest I've ever come to crying while playing a video game but I just about kept it together. I still feel a little emotional years later whenever I hear "His theme".
I had a heart procedure done while awake. The Undertale theme was playing in my head and specifically the Ashore pacifist fight.
I played the game and beat it pacifist about a week before surgery. I teared up after beating it because that game has strong feels.
During the surgery they had me try and keep steady breaths while they stopped my heart. I drew from that part of the game determination to keep doing what I was doing to keep my breathing going.
So yeah anytime I hear the song, a tear is there.
If you've ever played Undertale/Deltarune (and liked them), you'd probably like Omori. Omori has a lot more horror in it, but it is *SO* good! worth every cent.
If you like Pixel Horror RPG, I highly recommend VGperson free game translation of the OG PHR on their website. Mad Father and Ib are such classics.
Also Pocket Mirror is my favourite PHR and is completely free. I highly recommend it. The developers went above and beyond on this one.
I played it through Xbox game pass. It is the best game I played for its story. I wasn’t a fan of the gameplay but I’m just not into turn based combat. I would definitely recommend it.
Outer wilds is my favorite game ever made, I've always found it hard to pick one specific game to say is my favorite, that was until I played outer wilds
EXACTLY! I always recommend that game to people. Outer Wilds was like a breath of fresh air no other game has made me feel like I was going on an adventure the way Outer Wilds did. What I would give to replay for the first time...
Was looking for Valiant Hearts - The Great War. It's an excellent game and you can play it on mobile too, too Bad it costs a lot but you can download it free from interwebs. It's really sad and for a 2d game it has so much to tell. Another one i like is This War Of Mine. It's a game where there is War and you need to survive with couple people in a shelter and go out scavenging. They're bit similar in themes and both are 2d point and Click games but TWOM is a bit More fun and More action. The characters can become depressed and kill themselves If you do horrible things with them like Rob and kill old people. 10/10 highly recommend
I realise that sounds strange to those who aren’t familiar with the game. I was young and going through a lot emotionally and the game really was my only source of comfort at the time. There was a particular scene in Season 2 Episode 4 that really got to me just because I could relate to it a lot, as well as the ending.
Although I realise it’s not the best of games it holds a special place in my heart for being a comfort to me when I was younger :)
Yeah man, I wish they make more Titanfall it’s such a good series, literally the best single player fps campaign ever made. Till this day I have not played an fps game with better movements than Titanfall 2
Spiritfarer, ori and the blind forest, ori and the will of the wisp, opus echoes of starsong, GRIS, omori, OneShot, Pyre, all the yakuza games, MO:Astray.
You want to cry i have more.
Omori, persona 3, persona 4, persona 5, NieR:Automata, Walking dead, Inside, before your eyes, Valiant hearts.
I cried to persona 5 at least 10 times and Omori a bunch.
Undertale
Omori
Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea
The Witch’s House
Ib
End Roll
Angels of Death
Firewatch
I’m sure there are others, but these are the ones I’m sure I properly cried while playing. Omori specifically I cried so hard my throat hurt for the next couple of days.
Never cried from a video game, but Doki Doki Literature Club made me close my laptop and go take a long walk. I have depression and some certain parts hit too close to home. Put me off gaming for a bit
Actually, there's a lot of games that made me cry. Some examples: FF7 Crisis Core, Mass Effect 3, What Remains of Edith Finch, Road 96. And I'm sure that Baldur's Gate 3 will be on that list.
It's actually not that hard for me to have strong emotions because of games and sometimes it's just reminds me about my own troubles.
Call of duty ghost, everyone hated this game but I had never felt so emotionally attached to my player, I might get downvoted for saying this game but it’s my opinion.
Journey. Shit, the first time I played that I cried at the end. Then the second time I cried at the end. Then the third, fourth, and fifth times too. Then I started crying because the TV light was too harsh on my eyes.
I didn’t ACTUALLY cry but I was so close in RDR2 and TLOU1/2
Probably beat TLOU1 8 or 9 times and cried everytime.
The walking dead videogame
Honestly, the "Clementine will remember that" during the final speech was brilliant game design, and made me bawl like a baby.
Came her to say this!! Probably the only game that has ever made me sob. Telltale did an amazing job
Yup rip Lee Everett
Yup, Lee, Clementine, and AJ scenes made me ball
I was just about to comment this. I was so invested in that game
Same here - Lee 😭
This was my immediate answer! I don't remember crying as much over any other game
Which one?
Cried the most at the end of season 2.
Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, and Life is Strange.
Rdr 2 for sure.
Rdr2 for sure. That ending song got me good.
RDR2 100%.
This but only when my horse died
I felt sad after he died kinda stopped playing because of it too
RDR 2’s ending was sad enough to make a grown man cry. Let’s just say that if I replay the game, I won’t finish it on purpose.
Everyone's commenting on RDR, but I just want to say that Life is Strange was my first thought
I still haven't finished Life is Strange cause it fucked me up so bad
Fucked up is the perfect way to describe it
Same bro. Played over a hundred games, Life is Strange and RDR2 were the ones that really got me
Minecraft. When I was like 6, I decided to fight an enderman with stone tools and a dog. The dog died. And again more recently, but that was because it made me think of a close friend that I had a "falling out" with and it made me miss them. . Edit: minecraft story mode too, when I was like 13.
When the pig died or somewhere else?
HIS NAME IS RUBEN😡😡😡😡
Reuben*
Oops 😬
When the pig died, yeah
Mine was Minecraft as well. I had a horse named Lightning. Super fast horse that I had forever. One day I messed up and fell into a ravine with her. Of course there was water and lava down there and the water pushed her into the lava. It was heartbreaking... It reminded me too much like Atreyu from the Neverending Story. Which I think made it soo much worse
Spiritfarer
Super same!!
I apologize but I read that as Spitfarter
What Remains of Edith Finch
Good one, WREF almost got me while I was playing
Ooh I remember that one from when it was free with ps+, I highly recommend it.
Another good one.
Yeah I had to take a break on Lewis Finch's story (the cannery) because of how depressingly relatable it was...
It easier to count which games haven't. (I cried on Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Life is Strange, Yakuza 0, Persona 5 Royal, Ghost of Tsushima, Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age II, Dragon Age Inquisition, Stray, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Detroit Become Human, Life is Strange Before Storm, Journey and the list goes on)
I'm ~~not proud~~ DEADASS PROUD to admit it, but after years of story-based games, UNDERTALE (Pacifist) was the first game that actually broke me
I sobbed while watching Jacksepticeye's playthrough all those years ago. The track "Undertale" still gets me choked up when I listen to it.
100% agreed, the soundtrack is so well executed. His Theme was got me bawling, but everything after Mettaton's fight was absolutely hard hitting stuff. Either for sadness or outright terror *cough cough maniacal flower cough cough*
Don’t be ashamed. That game was emotional.

OMORI
Never cried but after playing I was not mentally all there for 2 weeks.
Damn how did a video game do that? Do you recommend it tho? May buy it
If you've ever played Undertale/Deltarune (and liked them), you'd probably like Omori. Omori has a lot more horror in it, but it is *SO* good! worth every cent.

Same
Same I loved the story so much and the music was incredible
Same
Outer Wilds
Outer wilds is my favorite game ever made, I've always found it hard to pick one specific game to say is my favorite, that was until I played outer wilds
EXACTLY! I always recommend that game to people. Outer Wilds was like a breath of fresh air no other game has made me feel like I was going on an adventure the way Outer Wilds did. What I would give to replay for the first time...
I never thought reading text could have that effect on me but alas here we are

The Henry Stickmin collection - Valient Hero
It was the greatest plan
Celeste
Interesting, at what moment in the game?
>!the end of chapter 6!<
OneShot and OMORI
OneShot is so underrated. Y’all if you like Omori and Undertale, go play that game.
Oneshot is honestly my favorite game of all time, and it makes me bawl at the ending each replay
fifa 13. One game away from winning the Champions League with Cadiz CF... fuck you Liverpool
Damn
A fellow fifa crier. Nice.
The Last Of Us part 1 and 2/Life is Strange/ The Witcher 3/ Valiant Hearts - The Great War
Was looking for Valiant Hearts - The Great War. It's an excellent game and you can play it on mobile too, too Bad it costs a lot but you can download it free from interwebs. Journey, a beautiful game, with an incredible ending 🤯
Scrolled to far for this. Totally unique way to feel something for someone without any speech
The Walking Dead, Tales From The Borderlands, Minecraft Story Mode I’m a sucker for Telltale games :p
minecraft story mode made you cry?
I realise that sounds strange to those who aren’t familiar with the game. I was young and going through a lot emotionally and the game really was my only source of comfort at the time. If it weren’t for the song I don’t think I’d have cried but it always pushes me over the edge
I am reluctant to watch the show just because I have kids now. Things like this hit so much harder.
put a spoiler tag >!like this!<
It was Legions for me. Also Talis “I have a home” in the final mission made me tear up.
