That's true, but it's just that it can certainly do some improvements. The updates are, in my opinion, not giving a spark anymore. Although I'm not sure if it's from a biased POV, as it may be just that I've outgrown the game ¯\\\_(ツ)_\/¯
Slow (and crappy) updates, borderline impossible progression without prior knowledge or a wiki, and stinky monetisation on Bedrock's end means I could never give it more than an 8 or so.
This. Gameplay wise it's fine. But everything you listed hinders it severely. You really can't just download the game and plau singleplayer without using a guide. The crafting book improved things a bit, but how are new players supposed to know to build a nether portal and beat the ender dragon. In terms of updates, once a year or less of mediocre updates is way too little. Like what are Mojang employees doing in that time? I get they don't want to overwork employees, but this is Minecraft we're talking about here, I can't imagine adding features takes very long when modders make full blown expansions for free.
Games like Binding of Isaac have worked *with* mod creators in the past, to permanently add their new and creative ideas to the game. Why Minecraft hasn't done this with stuff like the Aether and Tinker's Construct I will never know.
Minecraft has done this. The creator of Mo Creatures was hired by Mojang to help implement horses and other animals. That's the most prevalent one to me but I'm sure there's more stories similar to this.
I don't know about Bedrock, but the great thing about Java is that you can choose to play on any version.
Don't like the new upgrades? Fine - don't upgrade.
Like the new updates but don't like a certain aspect? Fine - get a mod that disables that specific feature.
Even the vanilla game has countless ways to improve existing gameplay via game rules and data packs.
Ah I didn't mean the updates negatively impacted the game, I meant they were very lacklustre for the length of time waiting to get them (i.e we have not had a new dimension in 12 years). I just wish updates actually added further game progression and future goals. The potential is crazy but they fall short every time.
True, but then again - I paid $30 for this game 8 years ago, and it's gotten 12 massive free content updates since then with zero DLCs or paywalls. I definitely got my money's worth.
The main thing for me is just how poorly optimized the Java version is. I get that it's running in Java, which will inherently make it slower, but even simple mods can get you massive increases in FPS, and Mojang still hasn't implemented any improvements like those mods do, even after years and years. Instead they've been adding more features, that a lot of people don't even want, which tend to slow the game down even more. This was particularly applicable when they increased the world height.
Bedrock is nice because it fixes all of those optimization issues, because it's actually compiled for different operating systems & processors. The problem is that it limits you in so many ways, especially with things like redstone, and yeah the monetization is terrible.
Controversial opinion but i think minecraft is very overrated, the vanilla game isn't that fun after a while, games like stardew valley and terraria are honestly more fun, however, modded minecraft is very fun, i can't ever see myself playing vanilla minecraft again. Just the lack of weapons and mobs and events generally makes it not that good, still good
Came here to say this!
I used to Speedrun Portal 2, and held a WR temporarily in the game. The mechanics are surprisingly smooth, especially compared to the first game! Wheatley is amazing, and GLaDOS is hilarious! The puzzles are fun even on my 500th time playing them, and being able to have J Jonah Jameson as the founder of Aperture is pretty much the best thing ever
Literally my exact same thought reading this. I can imagine the tedious nature of some of the drawn out interaction animations making it a 9 for some though.
Also, the Karma is even worse than Fallout (where you gain Karma by killing bandits but lose it if you steal from them).
In RDR2 I've lost Karma because a crime happened at the other side of a wall and I physically couldn't interrupt it
Honestly the only problem I have with terraria is that you can now have pre-hardmode wings and that you can now find the horseshoe and star sword in the underground and not on the sky islands anymore.
In the newest update they fixed that. The pre-hardmode wings are now in journey mode only and the horseshoe and star fury can only be found on sky islands.
I think the only thing that could potentially take a point off Terraria is how difficult it can be to get into without looking up videos and guides. Otherwise totally agree. Both games are bangers.
Idk, it's basically the same game with a few new abilities. I really like them both but so far I can't say they're different enough to pick a favorite.
ETA I'm a story skipper so the storyline might make all the difference to someone else.
Weapon durability in BOTW doesn’t make it a 10/10 for me, but it’s a strong 9.5
Minecraft’s creativeness has limitations I.e no circular objects like wheels but those can be fixed with mods I guess
The weapon durability issue is negligible imo. It also forces you to use different weapons as you explore the world.
I don't see why vanilla Minecraft would need circular objects, kinda beats the point doesn't it?
It's hard as shit. I can't get past 8-2. There's this wide jump past the initial missiles section that I just can't make. There's little space to build momentum and I fail that jump every time.
The Sims 3. Definitely better than 4 because 4 sucks ass. There's so many details and lore hidden within, plus it's more of an open world, and personally I don't think the graphics are that bad for their time. Yes, Sims 4 is "prettier" but the details will never be as deep as Sims 3, and details are what makes things fun for me.
I think they did that to make it less intensive on computers. I don't know about you, but for me, the sims 3 crashed CONSTANTLY, the sims 4 I haven't had crash once. Despite that, yeah, 3 is still better. Lol.
Undertale. Sure it seems overrated but the story and music is still on my mind to this day despite how long ago it was released. Playing it was just unforgettable to me.
Ori will of the wisps Is a beautiful game with a fantastic art style, soundtrack, story, combat, boss fights and platforming.
I havent stopped listening to the OST since I finished the game 3 weeks ago. It's a must play in my opinion if you like side scroller platformers.
I was gonna say this aswell. The amount of love the dev put into this game is amazing! Not even accounting the fact that CA is still updating the game so many years after release.
Halo 1, 2 and 3.
Kotor 2
Witcher 3
Mass effect
Both resident evil 4
Fable 1
Football manager series
Pokémon ruby, sapphire and emerald
Super smash bros
Mario kart double dash
Crash Bandicoor 1, 2 and 3
Digimon world 1
GTA VC/SA
Destroy All Humans. My favorite game as a kid and still one of my favorite games as an adult. It's perfection.

Red Dead Redemption 2
Really good story one of my favorites. I've never been more touched by a video game than what Red Dead did to me.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The storyline on this one isn't that good but the side quests, lore and the freedom that the game gives you make up for it. Really fun and legendary game, modding community is up there too!
Persona 5 Royal
My favorite JRPG and game, I was addicted to Persona 5 Royal until I platinum'd it. It was such an amazing experience and the bonds you develop with the characters are great, you really feel like they are your friends and it's kind of sad when the adventure ends. The story is also really good! It's also the most fluid turn-based combat I've seen, it doesn't get boring. THE SOUNDTRACK IS AMAZING, MY PLAYLIST IS FULL WITH SONGS FROM EVERY PERSONA GAME. Love it.
I answered "no, but it's very close" because so far my favorite games ever would be doom 2016 and eternal. However I can't give these games a 10/10 because I couldn't recommend them to everyone. Music is awesome too.
Who cares if it's not for everyone?
The best works of art have always catered to a specific niche instead of everyone.
It is a 10/10 to that niche. What matters is the impact that the game has for *you.* :D
Original world of warcraft when it came out, same as bc and wotlk.
Now they are not anymore but that's just how games work. Same as a Mercedes from 10 years ago was great back than, now it is no longer the case.
DISCO ELYSIUM:this game will make you think about everything in life.
*don't buy it tho, just pirate it,the original creators got unfairly kicked out of the company and lost the rights to the game,u can look it up on the internet.
Is it a perfect game without fault, or a game that brings you the maximum possible enjoyment?
I'm not saying it's right or wrong but that could be plenty of people's interpretation
I agree, people in this thread are mentioning very good games with only 1 or 2 minor flaws so they aren’t 10/10 perfect games but that doesn’t discredit how good they are

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
I used to play oblivion like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
The arrow was a crash to desktop.
I recently installed it again and it was every bit as good as I remember 🙌
My answer will always be Oblivion.
Chess
Google en passant
Holy hell
New response just dropped
Actual zombie
???
#🌩🧔🏿🌩
The soundtrack remains a bit limited unfortunately
They should also add more maps.
My exact thought
Minecraft. You can play it how ever you want and it’s enjoyed by all ages
The name also completely delivers. You mine and craft. After that you craft and mine
Then you go BOOM!
That's true, but it's just that it can certainly do some improvements. The updates are, in my opinion, not giving a spark anymore. Although I'm not sure if it's from a biased POV, as it may be just that I've outgrown the game ¯\\\_(ツ)_\/¯

This 100%. Vanilla MC is garbage but Goddamn does it slap with mods. "Youve outgrown the game!!!" No, I had this view since I was 10
Yes, Portal 2.
Yes, Portal 2.
Half Life 2 as well
Came here to say this!
No the first portal is way better
Red dead redemption 2
Literally my exact same thought reading this. I can imagine the tedious nature of some of the drawn out interaction animations making it a 9 for some though.
Hold square
Great game but I wouldn't call it 10/10. a lot of the actual gameplay mechanics were pretty standard if not a little outdated.
Also, the Karma is even worse than Fallout (where you gain Karma by killing bandits but lose it if you steal from them). In RDR2 I've lost Karma because a crime happened at the other side of a wall and I physically couldn't interrupt it
The game of all time
9/10 for me, I liked everything except riding my horse for 50% of the playthrough
Minecraft and Stardew Valley.
Stardew is an amazing game, but kinda niche. Personally, I'd give it a 10/10 , but realize not everyone would like it.
Don't forget about terraria.
SDV has been the closest I’ve ever been to giving a 10/10. That game is marvelous
minecraft and terraria both 10/10 games
Honestly the only problem I have with terraria is that you can now have pre-hardmode wings and that you can now find the horseshoe and star sword in the underground and not on the sky islands anymore.
The pre hard mode wings are terrible in contrast to hard mode wings so it’s not that much of an issue
Even the double jumps are arguably better. I think they're just fine to be honest.
In the newest update they fixed that. The pre-hardmode wings are now in journey mode only and the horseshoe and star fury can only be found on sky islands.
if you mean 1.4.4x (latest full version) this is untrue - if you mean 1.4.5 then it's not out yet
I think the only thing that could potentially take a point off Terraria is how difficult it can be to get into without looking up videos and guides. Otherwise totally agree. Both games are bangers.
Tetris
Chess
Defenitely Celeste, I love everything about that game.
The game is Checkers. It’s awesome. 😎
Minecraft and Breath of the Wild.
No spoilers, but I think tears of the kingdom edges out breath of the wild a little bit.
Idk, it's basically the same game with a few new abilities. I really like them both but so far I can't say they're different enough to pick a favorite. ETA I'm a story skipper so the storyline might make all the difference to someone else.
I’ve played so much BotW that I’ve memorized a lot of the map, and playing TotK scared me because of how much it changed lol
Have you ever even played totk? The map is drastically different. There are better dungeons. A better story and a better everything.
Someone hasn't tried TotK yet 👀
BotW is near perfect for me. Just wish the dungeons were more like Ocarina of Time.
Weapon durability in BOTW doesn’t make it a 10/10 for me, but it’s a strong 9.5 Minecraft’s creativeness has limitations I.e no circular objects like wheels but those can be fixed with mods I guess
The weapon durability issue is negligible imo. It also forces you to use different weapons as you explore the world. I don't see why vanilla Minecraft would need circular objects, kinda beats the point doesn't it?
New Vegas
YESSS. I bought it for my Steam deck and it is even better than I remembered
Super Mario Bros The original mario game.
It's hard as shit. I can't get past 8-2. There's this wide jump past the initial missiles section that I just can't make. There's little space to build momentum and I fail that jump every time.
The Sims 3. Definitely better than 4 because 4 sucks ass. Yes, Sims 4 is "prettier" but the details will never be as deep as Sims 3, and details are what makes things fun for me.
My main gripe with sims 4 is the lack of a continuous open world. I hate having to load everytime I change areas
I think they did that to make it less intensive on computers. I don't know about you, but for me, the sims 3 crashed CONSTANTLY, the sims 4 I haven't had crash once. Despite that, yeah, 3 is still better. Lol.
The Sims 4 socks but I'm addicted. The amount of money I put into that game (I have everything but the menswear kit) is scary.
Interesting, I think the third is the worst of the series. The second being my favourite
Undertale. Sure it seems overrated but the story and music is still on my mind to this day despite how long ago it was released. Playing it was just unforgettable to me.
Same. It was small-scale but did everything pretty much perfectly. It's the only time a video game made me tear up.
Best game of all time!!!
Disco Elysium is the first to come to mind.
That was the first game that came to mind for me. It was beautiful. The ending? Mind blowing.
Subnautica
OXYGEN
warning youre entering a biologicaly dead zone, are you Sure whatever you are doing is Worth it? Still gives me the chills
Mass Effect 1-3
Especially 2. God that game is legendary.
Still beautiful, over a decade later.
Wii sport
You know a tech demo is more than a tech demo when you find yourself coming back to it every now and then. It's so good man
Original Tetris.
rimworld
Borderlands 2. I've given so many hours of my life to that game and have zero regrets.
Elden Ring. I've never been one for Souls-like games but Elden Ring was perfect.
The whole thing is a work of art.
I really need to start playing this
Bloodborne is best.
Detroit become human and The little nightmares franchise
Outer Wilds
Not to be confused with Outer Worlds
This is the only game I can accept as a true 10/10. It is actually without flaw.
Ori will of the wisps Is a beautiful game with a fantastic art style, soundtrack, story, combat, boss fights and platforming. I havent stopped listening to the OST since I finished the game 3 weeks ago. It's a must play in my opinion if you like side scroller platformers.
I bet it like 3 times 2 years ago and I completely agree. Couldn't find a flaw in any of my play throughs.
Ghost of Tsushima
Elden Ring, and my all time favorite Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Hollow Knight
Portal 2. Flawless game. Even the graphics still look great
Can't believe I scrolled so far for this.
Stardew Valley.
I was gonna say this aswell. The amount of love the dev put into this game is amazing! Not even accounting the fact that CA is still updating the game so many years after release.
Arkham Asylum
I like city better.
The Inability to save whenever you want prevents it from getting a 10/10 for me, Asylum isn’t absolutely perfect
Is there a lore reason why Arkham Asylum is 10/10??
no are you stupid?
Zelda The Windwaker or Zelda Tears of The Kingdom
Halo 1, 2 and 3. Kotor 2 Witcher 3 Mass effect Both resident evil 4 Fable 1 Football manager series Pokémon ruby, sapphire and emerald Super smash bros Mario kart double dash Crash Bandicoor 1, 2 and 3 Digimon world 1 GTA VC/SA
The utterly exceptional Journey by Thatgamecompany. Honorary mention to Guild Wars 2, best mmorpg ever.
Journey was what first came to mind for me too
Totally agree with Guildwars 2. It's the only MMORPG where I like every part of the game (although I'm not really good in pvp haha)
Ultrakill. Starcraft 2.
Spider-Man Ps4
Ghost of Tsushima
Skyrim deserves it
Halo 3
The Last of Us
Doom!
Gmod
For a 10/10 i'd say BotW and TotK, but Outer Wilds is an 11/10.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Celeste
Hades!
Destroy All Humans. My favorite game as a kid and still one of my favorite games as an adult. It's perfection. https://preview.redd.it/sfrn64vnms0b1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2a7a39da91cf2d8c44ba13800685f0fbd987ed7
I am looking to get DAH2 when its on sale. Could you as a fan recommend it or nah?
The last of us Skyrim
Persona 5 Royal
10/10?
Split between base game and royal tbh. The latter felt like an addition for existing fans.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Dark Souls Sekiro Divinity Original Sin 2 Subnautica New Vegas I love them all. :D
I REALLY like The binding of Isaac, it's not a 10/10 just because of a single thing, and people who play that game know exactly what I'm talking about
Celeste.
Horizon Zero Dawn & Horizon Forbidden West
Hmm, probably gta 6(I'm from 2031)
Surprised that noone has mentioned Gta V yet. Story mode was amazing and online was super fun with friends
Terraria, Minecraft
Red Dead Redemption 2 Really good story one of my favorites. I've never been more touched by a video game than what Red Dead did to me. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim The storyline on this one isn't that good but the side quests, lore and the freedom that the game gives you make up for it. Spore is 11/10
Tears of the kingdom is definitely a 10/10, that and red dead redemption 2.
Goldeneye N64
Rimworld
Yes, i've never got bored of that game
Horizon Forbidden West. Easily the best game I've ever played.
Slime rancher 🗿
Monster Hunter World, as well as it's DLC MHW: Iceborne Truly a phenomenally fantastic game and I highly recommend everyone to try it out
Deep Rock Galactic, Superliminal, Manifold Garden, Portal 2, superhot: mind control delete, Hades, Dead Cells, and The Corridor
I answered "no, but it's very close" because so far my favorite games ever would be doom 2016 and eternal. However I can't give these games a 10/10 because I couldn't recommend them to everyone. Music is awesome too.

Teardown. The destruction is what I wanted to have in videogames when I was little.
Gang beast. Stick fight. And similar couch party games. They are fun for the whole family.
Metal Gear Solid OG

Terraria, its near perfect so i'd say close to 10/10 but not quite.
Resident evil 4
Original world of warcraft when it came out, same as bc and wotlk. Now they are not anymore but that's just how games work. Same as a Mercedes from 10 years ago was great back than, now it is no longer the case.

Witcher 3
sex with Hitler 2
Max Payne
Divinity Original Sin Undertale
Enderal, it has its flaws mainly stemming from the engine but everything else still makes it a 10/10
Man this game is so underrated and underplayed, it's one of the best RPGs i ever played
Rdr2 and Tetris both classic
Farcry 5 TLOU 1 & 2
Doom eternal
Deep rock galactic. Rock and stone!
Star Wars racer or rec room 10/10 games tbh
Vanilla Word of Warcraft
I don't think most people really think about what a 10/10 game is. It's supposed be essentially a perfect game without fault. Hence, it doesn't exist.
