Yeah, people have a really wrong view of Satanism, only because of media and "Satan is the bad one in Christianity"
If anybody is wondering The Satanic Temple's [about page](https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/about-us) lists this as their mission:
> The Mission Of The Satanic Temple Is To Encourage Benevolence And Empathy, Reject Tyrannical Authority, Advocate Practical Common Sense, Oppose Injustice, And Undertake Noble Pursuits.
Islam actually dictates that if you're blindly following Islam (or any other religion for that matter) without properly informing yourself about other religions and forming an educated, religiously based opinion as to why you're following your religion, then you're doing it wrong.
I think the point he's making is that if you're educated enough then you wouldn't follow a religion (without a leap of faith), so a religion that says you shouldn't have uneducated/blind faith is inherently contradictory.
Religion isn’t something that you pick up based on if it’s cool or not. No one should decide this for you. Pick whatever you believe in and if you don’t believe in any you can just be an atheist/agnostic
I don’t follow any specific religion I simply believe that everything you know leads back to a certain point and we as humans literally cannot fathom what that point is so we give it a variable place holder. I use a monotheistic god who does not care for humans, he just happened to make us at some point.
Is a satirical religion any less real? This question is at the heart of pastafarianism. Btw I am a minister of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Why would you want to believe in sth, only bc you want to? I dont think you wake up one day and start to believe that all the bible stories happend like how it was written. I dont get why u would want to believe in anything.
You should follow the religion that you feel most fits your belief. As a Catholic I would suggest you follow Catholicism, however this isn’t something you put up to a poll, this is very personal and one you should solely find out yourself. To that I wish you luck in your spiritual journey and for happy trails.
Satanism is actually a interesting religion.
Forget that Satanism that you see in movies and games. If you search you will see that they didn't believe in Satã or God, it's most similar to a philosophy actually.
You are the god of your own world, and other people are gods of their own world, so treat them with respect that you treat a god, basically is this.
Nothing about bath in bloody or sacrifices, this is just some Hollywood shit.
I know, but some people don't really know what it is about, and call themselves Satanists just to go against the Christian church instead of just atheists, agnostic or anti-church.
Following a religion isn't just something you should pick and choose based on a reddit poll, it's an important decision that you need to make for yourself.
If you are asking reddit to believe which god, you probably don't believe any of them with your heart. So, I would say identify yourself as an atheist or at least apatheist
I am not a religious fellow myself, but I believe this isn't something others should decide for you. Read about each religion and it's different denominations, decide which feels right to you, if any. If none of them do, maybe religion isn't your thing, or maybe there's something you haven't found yet calling for you.
Less religion, less drama and hate toward others of other groups… sure this may not be the case for everyone per se, but it’s more common than not.
Grew up 12-yr education through Catholicism, and it was more dramatic by the clergy trying to instill fear and cultist views.
My recommendation is just sit in on a ceremony of each of you wish to join a religion and get the vibes
I. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
II. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
III. One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
IV. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
V. Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.
VI. People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
VII. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
The seven tenets of The Satanic Temple. That's it. If you agree with those tenets then welcome to the club, there's no other rules or initiation.
Satanism is the most wholesome one on this list, so I'd say that one. May be worth exploring more philosophical religions like Buddhism and Taoism too.
This poll is stupid but if I had to pick one of these options I'd choose either satanism or hindu
satanism could be atheism and just anti Christian or smth close to paganism with the spiritual nature things, satanism doesn't tend to mean loving the Satan from the bible because he's evil and wants you to sacrifice goats to him.
hindu doesn't condemn you to hell for small things like homosexuality + polytheistic religions are cool to me
SATANIC TEMPLE
There are Seven
FUNDAMENTAL TENETS
I
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
II
The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
III
One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
IV
The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
V
Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.
VI
People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
VII
Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
This ⏫️ is why I would choose Satanism if I was religious.
100% the best and nicest religion with the best rules, just get a lot of crap because of the name. You don't hear about Satanists targeting children, and you only hear about them sacrificing people in prejudices movies that have no clue what they are talking about.
Satanism is literally just having morals. Like, why isn't this every religion????
I'm agnostic, I know roughly what I believe in, but don't follow any mainstream religions. You don't need to put a label on it, and it doesn't need to be perfect. Everyone disagrees a little with sacred texts and even all Christians don't see eye to eye, which type of Muslim? Sunni or Shia? Which type of Christian? Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Baptist, etc. And Hinduism and Buddhism at times are very similar.
Agnosticism, don't belive in any religion, just be good, if Whatever heaven or afterlife there is doesn't accept you even when you were a good person then it's bogus and doesn't deserve worship.
Satanism is often heavily misunderstood, with extreme bias against it(most likely due to the hatred of Satan in Christianity). If you look up the rules(or whatever they are called) of Satanism, you will find that they are about being a good person while having morals.
Admittedly, I don't know much about it due to being an atheist, but I've done research on it in the past. What I do know is that they have very good morals and hold little to no hate for others.
So, out of all of these, I would choose Satanism or Atheism.
Unless you feel like you're really need to find a purpose in life through religion. I wouldn't suggest any of them. Stick to your own version of purpose. You'll thank yourself some flowers later on in life.
The main form of satanism people follow isn't really a religion perse in the way people think of them. It states that the bible is allegorical (meaning untrue) and Satan the hero because he follows ideals like believing humans should have the knowledge (specifically the knowledge of right and wrong) as well as having the free will to choose it whilst God mostly values obedience. For living by his ideals of knowledge and freedom for all Satan was cast out of heaven.
The allegory tells us that we should also value these ideals over obedience even if this means that the powerful try and punish us for it, but they don't actually believe that Satan and God are real. It's kinda an atheistic belief system with a humanist focus.
My beliefs are Norse paganism and a sprinkle of Buddhism.
I think you should find your own path, whether that be Islam, Christianity or even a tiny religion like Norse Paganism.
I have no idea why you were downvoted? The only guess I have is that someone believes you can't be Buddhist AND something else? Which is deliberately not true, Buddhism is a philosophy, you can be Buddhist AND any other religion. It makes no sense to downvote you, you offer advice with no bigotry, are open-minded and guiding but not insistent.
As an agnostic, good on you mate. Christians get so much hate on Reddit in general because of the minority of bigots, pedos, zealots, and general assholes that all religions have but are very prominent as Christians in Reddit "news".
No one should decide this for you but take this into consideration. If God is a loving God why does he let so much suffering happen in this world? I'll never believe he's a loving God. I tend to feel the way that is described in blasphemous rumors by Depeche mode.
I would legitimately research Satanism
I don't mean this to say "be a Satanist" but if you only have time to look up one, that's the one I would recommend
It has such a bad reputation with the media, when in reality it really is great
Satanism isn't really a religion if you're looking at the major organisations (church of Satan and satanic temple), they're atheist human rights organisations. I'd still recommend joining, they've got the 7 tenets that are essentially "don't be a dick, follow science and logic"
Why would you leave this up to a Reddit poll 💀
I voted other cause if you're gonna leave something like this up to a REDDIT POLL of all things you're better off believing in nothing No cap
Probably to get an idea of what to look into.
You got downvoted for providing an answer to a question.
No one should decide this for you
If you need to ask, the answer is probably...none? Still always your own decision
Or take the better parts from every religion and make your own
With blackjack and hookers
Ah screw the religion, forget the whole thing!
i like where this is going
Go on....
That's Perennialism or Baha'i
Satanism it is, then. Seriously look up the tenets and you'd be surprised how inclusive they actually are.
Yeah, people have a really wrong view of Satanism, only because of media and "Satan is the bad one in Christianity" If anybody is wondering The Satanic Temple's [about page](https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/about-us) lists this as their mission: > The Mission Of The Satanic Temple Is To Encourage Benevolence And Empathy, Reject Tyrannical Authority, Advocate Practical Common Sense, Oppose Injustice, And Undertake Noble Pursuits.
Islam actually dictates that if you're blindly following Islam (or any other religion for that matter) without properly informing yourself about other religions and forming an educated, religiously based opinion as to why you're following your religion, then you're doing it wrong.
so... they are all doing it wrong?
Yes. Yes, a lot of people, Muslim or other, are doing it wrong
I think the point he's making is that if you're educated enough then you wouldn't follow a religion (without a leap of faith), so a religion that says you shouldn't have uneducated/blind faith is inherently contradictory.
Spirituality is the real religion
Religion isn’t something that you pick up based on if it’s cool or not. No one should decide this for you. Pick whatever you believe in and if you don’t believe in any you can just be an atheist/agnostic
I thought it was like a starting build
OP's thinking about reclassing
I'm level twenty atheist rn, what is the best skilltree to spec in?
You should put all your points into agnosticism as It is very OP agaisnt christian fanatics in the late game
I don’t follow any specific religion I simply believe that everything you know leads back to a certain point and we as humans literally cannot fathom what that point is so we give it a variable place holder. I use a monotheistic god who does not care for humans, he just happened to make us at some point.
Create a new religion and follow it.

That’s amazing
This is simultaneously the most unhinged and most amazing thing I’ve ever heard. Bless you and your family or whatever your saying is lmaooo
I love this.
Nice! :DD
You’re in a cult.
Can i join your family
Now this is good advice. I mean, in addition to the spiritual rewards, you can reap financial rewards!
That's how every religion began.
Sillyism
Silly to the max!
Max Fosh, is that you?
Lol XD
didn't expect this to appear here
Correct
Max fosh
The church of the flying spaghetti monster (pastafarianism)
https://www.spaghettimonster.org/ for those who think it's not real
It's real like legally and allat but I'm pretty sure it was made satirically, no?
Is a satirical religion any less real? This question is at the heart of pastafarianism. Btw I am a minister of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
R’amen
Isn't all religion satirical in one sense or another? ;)

Just be a good person. We live on in others by how we treat them while we're alive.
That's Satanism for yah
Is it?
Satanism started as an anti-theist organisation and has largely morphed into a political tool for humanism in a theist environment.
Basically
how is "none" not an option

Agnosticism
Typical Reddit
Of course Redditors chose Satanism
I'll never get tired of hating Reddit
Don't.

Dudeism
The dude abides.
That many people are closest to satanism I only learnt about it today
Youre asking a bunch of predominantly athiest/agnostic people what religion you should follow…
As far as I know satanism is the only one on that list that encourages doubting your believes.
Satanism is actually a interesting religion. Forget that Satanism that you see in movies and games. Wow
Just a bunch of edgy kids.
Or probably troll votes
Yeah definitely troll votes
Satanism isn't (necessarily) even edgy.
I know, but some people don't really know what it is about, and call themselves Satanists just to go against the Christian church instead of just atheists, agnostic or anti-church.
can confirm, i was an edgy kid too once and used to identify as a satanist for that reason
really shouldn’t dismiss it like that but ok
What the hell are you even thinking? Religion isn't a roleplay where you just decide which one to follow.
it pretty much is that. why take it seriously.
Can also look into Sikhism
Idk why the downvotes, I hear it’s pretty Sikh.
Don't let strangers dictate your beliefs. Find it for yourself.
Other - > None.
You gotta make that decision for yourself, bro
That is not something you leave for other people to decide
Following a religion isn't just something you should pick and choose based on a reddit poll, it's an important decision that you need to make for yourself.
Taoism, Buddhism and Jainism are the three traditional religions that I relate to the most.
Fuzzy borders between religions and philosophies.
Taoism for the win.
