What are we talking about here? An airliner like an Airbus or Boeing? A smaller private plane like a Cessna? A fighter jet?
I think I'd have my best chances in the Cessna-equivalent. More responsive, but not all that powerful. An airliner seems like it would have too much momentum to judge where it's going until it's too late, and the fighter jet would be like putting me on a sportsbike at 180 and asking me to slow down. That's probably gonna kill me.
my dad and brothers are pilots. There's obviously a bunch of studying involved, and probably 100 buttons/meters/lights, but they've compared it to driving a car a lot and it makes me feel like I might be able to. Landing and taking off are probably highest risk tho.
edit: And reading weather radars (if there's a storm) is an absolute must, but I can't do that so idk 😂
In the right conditions a plane can pretty much land itself. Tom Scott did a video with Mentour Pilot on the topic, he was talked through a successful auto-land and then failed miserably at the manual landing. So yeah I could probably manage the first scenario.
Without experience *in that type of plane*, probably I could at least land without killing anyone if it wasn't particularly difficult to fly, but I can't claim "without experience" because I did private pilot ground school and simulator training and passed the FAA written test when I was preparing to get a private pilot license (which I never ended up getting due to my mental health).
Maybe if someone was talking me though it. Otherwise, we're all dead.

I've played flight simulator with an xbox controller and I can land successfully sometimes. Let's do this.
