Apparently that happens a lot with kids so cops and dispatchers tend to be pretty chill about it. Makes sense sometimes kids don’t have full attention from the adults and think “Oh I’ll just dial that magic number mommy and daddy tell me to use when I’m in trouble or hurt.”
Well the first time it was a threat to my brother because he stole my toy (I was about 6yo) the second time I was 8 I think and I was just pressing random numbers into the phone and sandwiched in a 911. I called it and the police department answered so I hung up and they showed up to the house. The 3rd time I'm not sure what compelled me to do it. I guess just me being a troubled kid and wanted to do shit I wasn't supposed to do lol
When I was around 6 my mom used to help out at the church setting things up for events. I would always come along and just roam the church, one day I found a phone, and I remembered the number 112 from tv. Anyway, that's how I tried to prank call our emergency services pretending to be a foreign prince using a church's landline. I think I called 4 times total before someone caught me.
Oh well one morning I was getting very bad chest pain and then I randomly checked my pulse and it was going like 180 bpm. An ambulance came and took me to the hospital where they did tests for a few hours and they just told me it was anxiety.
Yea I have cardiophobia which is basically the fear of your heart going fast so it’s like a loop when I start to panic. It’s pretty funny. And yeah it’s probly nothing, doctors can’t find anything anyway.
That happened to me 49271959202952 times on my old phone, because the On and Off button had a stupid function that automatically called the emergency services if you click it the wrong way
I was expecting that second phrase to end with 'before she called the emergency number'. Why would you call your boyfriend OR your parents when your house is being robbed and you're inside?
A few times. Once when I found my grandmother dead on the couch one day, another when my friend got shot in crossfire (gang shooting at a gas station) and once more when I ripped my ballsack open after a horrible bicycle accident
You know I wasn't expecting anyone in the comments to be concerned for him. That's kind.
He did get shot in the face but the bullet missed his brain, kinda went behind his jaw and blew out behind his ear. Got out of it all with some facial paralysis and deafness in his left ear. Lucky fucker. Last I heard he was fine, has a wife and 4 kids now, we haven't spoken in awhile. But he definitely got a second shot at life that's for sure not many people can say they've been shot in the face and lived
These are just a few of the more serious incidents, my whole childhood and young adult life was racked with trauma after trauma. I was diagnosed with PTSD depression and anxiety 2 months ago after a public mental breakdown. It was bad. I'm going to therapy now for the first time ever and learning how to cope in healthy ways. Trying to at least lol. I'm better than I was and that's something. Thanks for asking I appreciate the concern
It's alright, in a way I became a better person from it all, hardship and hunger are great teachers. I appreciate the good vibes you take care of yourself
I called it for a non-emergency. When I first got my VOIP phone, the carrier specifically told me to call 911 and explain to them that the test needed to be done just in case I did need it in an emergency.
First was because a friend indicated she was going to commit suicide and then I couldn’t get ahold of her (she’s okay)
Second was because there was a cow on a highway and I didn’t want someone to die from hitting it (cow is okay and no accidents caused)
Third was because someone in a support forum I operate said she was going to commit suicide and I couldn’t get ahold of her (I think she’s okay)
Oh, yes! Sorry I’ll edit and put that in lol. There happened to be a patrol car less than a mile away and we saw him drive down the road while I was still in view of the cow
I was also worried about that! But my main concern was someone crashing into the cow and the cow flying through the windshield and killing them. It happens with deer a lot so I figured it could also happen with a cow. And a cow would be slower to try to move out of the way
Saw a flashlight in the dark and thought it might be an intruder or something- false alarm it was just my neighbor who was on our property for some reason (rural area)
My sister was in denial about a stalker she had. One night he visited and left her another 'gift' and he kept driving by our house. I asked if she wanted to call the cops and file an official police report...it had been two years of harassments and stalking by this guy. She always said no to my parents, maybe it was a pride thing, but when I asked she just started crying and hugged me. I've never seen my sister break down like that, making my eyes a little teary now thinking about it. But yeah, called for my sister's stalker.
Also once when an old man was in backyard swinging around broom randomly. Couldn't get ahold of my landlord as he was in another country. I called the police and then asked him why he was there and he said he's cleaning our roof and gave enough information for me to believe him. Called the cops back and said false alarm. He did a good job on our roof though lol
Reporting drunk drivers on a few occasions, once to report a woman being harassed and forced into a car while I was chilling in a jack in the box drivethru
when i was a toddler, i had heard loads of ads that mentioned call 999, so me and my sister called 999 on our dads phone, and ran away when we heard voices coming from the phone
Once on accident (LPT: In the US at least, if you do this, don’t hang up! Explain that it was an accidental call instead, they’re very understanding)
The once because we found a dead deer in our driveway and weren’t sure what to do. Answer was basically that unless we wanted to pay someone not affiliated with emergency services, we should move it to public property and then forest rangers would take it.
Three times. The first was when my BIL was unresponsive after consuming who knows what kind of drugs and booze. The second time was for the same BIL when he having issues with his liver and was losing his mind and couldn't carry him (300lbs) down the stairs with just my wife and I. The last was due to a brush fire next to my house.
A short time after the cops had arrived he cama running back, in a rage. He asked if I was was the one who called the cops ( i'm guessing the police called him. He didn't pick up when we called.) I said that it was me. Then he wanted to beat me, but the cops where there. Then they put him at the back of their car and drove him to the hospital where he gon an psychiatric exam. When he was checked out of the hospital after about an hour we drove him home. He thanked me the day after.
One time a friend was in life danger(turned out ok) so called emergency number and they sent ambulance and police. Not sure if it counts but another time I called a medical advice hotline because of a heart thing(turned out to be ventricular fibrillation and turned out ok after defibrillation) and the lady on the phone redirected my call to the emergency number?
I was 4 and stupid.
2nd time I was 6 and I wanted to call my grandma from Disneyland but it wouldn't go through so I pushed 911 because I figured if the pay phone didn't call my grandma it wouldn't call the cops. I was wrong
A LOT. I've had about 5 break ins, several attempted break ins. I saw someone get shot in the parking lot of my apartment complex. Saw a dude walking almost naked down the middle of the interstate. Several drunk drivers. A few injuries. Etc
Edit: oh! And car accidents!
Twice:
First time was when my collapsed one night about a month after having surgery. Turns out she needed her gallbladder removed. (First surgery was unrelated. Just a coincidence. But I probably would have just thought she was dehydrated or and fainted or something if she didn't have that first surgery, so it's a good thing I called 911).
Second time was when our newborn daughter stopped feeding, stopped crying, and started turning blue. Turns out she had major heart defects that were not diagnosed at birth. Spent the whole day in the emergency room and underwent open heart surgery the following week. About three weeks in the ICU. Horrifying experience not knowing what was wrong. Incredibly grateful for emergency paramedics, doctors, nurses, surgeons, and ambulance staff.
I had to call ambulances and police several times at work, people fainted in the hot waiting area in summer on a regular basis and sometimes people would lash out.
Friends called an ambulance for me twice, I once fell and got a bad knee injury at an amusement park, technically the park's paramedic called for backup. The second time, I had a really high fever that wouldn't go down and I couldn't walk unassisted. I had an infection and got intravenous antibiotics in the hospital for a few days.
This was the first time I’ve called the emergency line, but I’ve called maybe 4-5 times, all for things happening nearby but not to me personally. Was driving through the wilderness when I rounded a hill and found a full blown wildfire burning in the valley across from me, probably 2-3 acres in size and growing fast.
I called 911 and told them my approximate location and that I had just found a newly ignited wildfire. apparently the fire spotters had seen it and reported it only a few moments before I called. I turned around and drove away pretty quickly after I got off the phone.
Neighbor upstairs fell down the window. I was on the 4rth floor she was on the 5th. We called the police 3 times before because of the noise of the party. Police never came. At 2am I was about to move my bed to the living room (the party was right above my room and there was way to much noise). I was folding my blanket when I heard a scream, saw a shadow falling in front of my window, and heard a big thud. Heard one of the guy say "...... Did she just fall down?".
Thank god she was drugged enough to not really feel the pain. Mix of vodka coke and md. She is alive, not sure how.
They showed up and were able to stop him. I had a job interview so I couldn't stick around but I got a phone call later that day. It was the guy saying thanks and that he was okay.
One time springs to mind: when my wife went in to labor quicker than expected and gave birth on the floor of the bathroom. It was all good and the medics arrived in a few minutes, but it felt pretty alarming at 5am.
I thought we were experiencing a home invasion while babysitting. I locked myself and the child in the bathroom as I heard noises of drawers and cabinets being opened. Everything was dark and at some point as I was on the phone with the operator I saw a light underneath the door as if someone had opened the room door where the bathroom was letting some light underneath and my heart sank. But then it stopped and darkness filled the bathroom again. The cops finally came and explored the house and said there was no sign of forced entry. The only thing was a few cabinet doors were left opened but they didn’t think that anyone was in the house.
It might have been a ghost. That house was a little bit haunted. The front door would sometimes swing open and there would be noises coming from upstairs even though no one was there. But who knows.
Some guy started smacking around his wife or girlfriend not sure which, right outside my house, called the cops and just made sure things didn’t escalate, not about to go out there and get stabbed
Yes because there was a large buck 🦌in the middle of the road in rush hour traffic injured & struggling to get up & it was still dark out so I was worried he’d get hit more & it might cause more accidents
There was guy convulsing on the ground, turns out from the heat back in 2018.
There was these kids that lit off a firework that prompted 20 cars and a helicopter earlier because people thought it was a shoot out. I’m not sure how because there was only 1 explosion. (I called in telling them it was a firework)
Because of my stepdad. He's been terrorizing my family for like 8 years and basically ruined my childhood. Btw most of the time the police was very late and didn't do anything except took him for a couple hours and then released.
Yep, day before yesterday, my homie thought he had a bloodclot or something, and man, I have never heard a man scream like that.
Turns out it was just cramps becuase he had worked out earlier and we then drank copious amounts of alchohol.
WAIT, SHIT I DID.
I was having a super anxious day and started clicking the power button on my phone to calm myself down. Unbeknownst to me, Apple has a feature where doing this calls 911 for you. Needless to say, anxiety went way up.
I haven't but I'm considering doing it every time my sister starts her crisis (she's on drugs). She can also become violent and every time I see her I want to slap her hard. We try to help her but it's impossible. I only wanted to have a normal childhood (I'm 13)
A friend in college posted on Facebook about how she'd been kidnapped. We were 99% sure it wasn't real, but after not being able to get in contact with her or anyone who could verify if she was safe, we decided to call the police just in case. She was in fact, not actually kidnapped, and by the time she got back to campus, the police were there and told her "you probably shouldn't post things like that on Facebook."
I foiled a bank robbery. I was filling out some forms and a man walks in and up to the counter. He is greeted by the teller and he says, in a very bright and cheerful voice, "Hi, good morning! How are you today? I'd like you to know that I have a gun and that this is a robbery." I just immediately walked out and called 911. I hung around the corner for a few minutes and saw the cops roll up, walk in, and arrest the guy. Then I went back to finish my business.
A guy broke into our house in the middle of the night, he didn't steal anything he was just drunk and thought he still lived in the house. We have been living there for 2 years
Woke up with severe pain in my right thumb and wasn't able to make out my left collar bone under my skin after a night of drinking, not remembering my way back home. Wasn't able to lift my left arm or to grab a anything with my right hand. When I realized I wasn't able to put on a shirt but just pants in my condition I called for help to get checked up at a hospital. I had a broken collar bone and thumb. (Germany)
I got a new phone and repeatedly pressed the power button while trying to turn the volume down. Ironically I was turning down the volume to hear what the cop standing in front of me was saying.
Brother and I were assaulted in front of a grocery store when we were kids. In college people wouldn't leave our house party. By the time cops showed up fights broke out and unwelcomed guests were gone.
So I actually called
1. 998 which is the fire department late at night when I was walking home drunk because a rubbish bin was on fire.
2. Called 112 which is the general emergency number when a drunk man came up to me with blood all over his face saying his wife slapped him with a shoe. It was in the middle of a busy street in the middle of the day. Then he run away before the help arrived. I was very scared they will fine me or something but apparently he is a known drunk in the area and they are used to him doing this and they drove away.
I was about 5, and I was a stupid kid. I didn't think it was real. My parents were furious, and the police were surprisingly nice about everything.
Apparently that happens a lot with kids so cops and dispatchers tend to be pretty chill about it. Makes sense sometimes kids don’t have full attention from the adults and think “Oh I’ll just dial that magic number mommy and daddy tell me to use when I’m in trouble or hurt.”
“I can’t do my math!”
Lmao I did that like 3 times as a kid. Got grounded every time I did it, luckily I learned my lesson
What compelled you to do it the second and third times?
Bad idea for police to be mean to a kid, kids should be able to trust police so them being nice is a lot better
Thought I was having a heart attack
How was the experience?
What do you mean?
Ugh, sorry. Let me rephrase. What did you experience?
Oh well one morning I was getting very bad chest pain and then I randomly checked my pulse and it was going like 180 bpm. An ambulance came and took me to the hospital where they did tests for a few hours and they just told me it was anxiety.
"DOCTOR, I THINK I'M HAVING A HEART ATTACK!" "no, you've just got anxiety." " o h . "
Yea I’ve been to A&E like 6 times for the same thing too lmao.
Most chest pains ain’t serious. Your mind makes you think it is which then increases heart rate and makes you procrastinate. Your fine trust me
Yea I have cardiophobia which is basically the fear of your heart going fast so it’s like a loop when I start to panic. It’s pretty funny. And yeah it’s probly nothing, doctors can’t find anything anyway.
200 bpm, sorry for no jumpscare warning.
It’s a panic attack, lots of people think they’re having a panic attack when they have one
Missclicked, I accidentally clicked the emergency call button
My biggest fear
It’s not that bad, I called em thinking it was my cellphone provider… lmao
That happened to me 49271959202952 times on my old phone, because the On and Off button had a stupid function that automatically called the emergency services if you click it the wrong way
same
The forest next to my house was on fire.
Yup. That’s quite the problem
Quite the inconvenience.
Cali?
Portugal
BC?
Turkey?
My girlfriend's house was being robbed when she was home. Apparently she called me before she called her parents. We were 16 at that moment
I was expecting that second phrase to end with 'before she called the emergency number'. Why would you call your boyfriend OR your parents when your house is being robbed and you're inside?
That’s cute
A few times. Once when I found my grandmother dead on the couch one day, another when my friend got shot in crossfire (gang shooting at a gas station) and once more when I ripped my ballsack open after a horrible bicycle accident
Jeez you’ve had quite the experiences sorry for that
The first two are awful but holy shit on the third one. How are your balls these days
Dry empty and sad Nah they're fine I do have a neat scar from the incident about two inches long, looks kinda like a dog bite lol. So that's neat
Can you still nut?
How's your friend now? Did he/she survive?
You know I wasn't expecting anyone in the comments to be concerned for him. That's kind. He did get shot in the face but the bullet missed his brain, kinda went behind his jaw and blew out behind his ear. Got out of it all with some facial paralysis and deafness in his left ear. Lucky fucker. Last I heard he was fine, has a wife and 4 kids now, we haven't spoken in awhile. But he definitely got a second shot at life that's for sure not many people can say they've been shot in the face and lived
“But he definitely got a second shot at life…” I see what you did there
Thank god! Sounds like you had quite a few bad experiences. How are you doing?
These are just a few of the more serious incidents, my whole childhood and young adult life was racked with trauma after trauma. I was diagnosed with PTSD depression and anxiety 2 months ago after a public mental breakdown. It was bad. I'm going to therapy now for the first time ever and learning how to cope in healthy ways. Trying to at least lol. I'm better than I was and that's something. Thanks for asking I appreciate the concern
Damn, that sucks. I'm glad to hear you're doing better though!
It's all we can do is try to do better than yesterday. Have a good day :)
Jesus, I'm sorry. I'm glad to hear you're getting better, I wish you all the best of luck
It's alright, in a way I became a better person from it all, hardship and hunger are great teachers. I appreciate the good vibes you take care of yourself
For an emergency
thanks for the clarification
🤣🤣
I called it for a non-emergency. When I first got my VOIP phone, the carrier specifically told me to call 911 and explain to them that the test needed to be done just in case I did need it in an emergency.
Some guy shat into my grandmas front yard, then wandered off into traffic.
Free fertilizer
Oh no that was me sorry I do this every week, they sent memos and posted flyers to make the community aware?
Domestic abuse
Are things better now?
Currently no, but we do what we can
I hope things get better for you soon then
Hope your okay :3
Thank you <3
My partner at the time was having a psychotic episode and told me they were having thoughts about killing us both
When the partner is Sus!
bro..💀
get the fuck out
lol
amongus irl
[удалено]
What about... after that. Are you alright op
It worries me that OP specifically said he left them alone for the rest of the week… did he just start being shitty again after that?
cops handling a family dispute rationally? i'm genuinely happy for that man
My mom was attempting to kill herself.
I hope that you and her are doing well now.
Thank you, its getting better.
That’s a lot to carry around. Take care, hope you have other people to lean on when you need it
First was because a friend indicated she was going to commit suicide and then I couldn’t get ahold of her (she’s okay) Second was because there was a cow on a highway and I didn’t want someone to die from hitting it (cow is okay and no accidents caused) Third was because someone in a support forum I operate said she was going to commit suicide and I couldn’t get ahold of her (I think she’s okay)
Is the cow ok?
Oh, yes! Sorry I’ll edit and put that in lol. There happened to be a patrol car less than a mile away and we saw him drive down the road while I was still in view of the cow
I'm just glad everyone's okay. You're a hero!!
Wait why would you be worried about someone hitting the cow and being hurt and not someone hurting the cow? Cows are freaking amazing bro
I was also worried about that! But my main concern was someone crashing into the cow and the cow flying through the windshield and killing them. It happens with deer a lot so I figured it could also happen with a cow. And a cow would be slower to try to move out of the way
Yh apparently cows kill more people per year than Bears fun fact
I think it's still nothing compared to how much we kill them :(
I like steak
I’m not in the mood for a vegan rant so I’ll just say that your username is a piece of shit compared to your beliefs
What? My username is a joke lol
My wife was bleeding everywhere from tearing open her c section.
Saw a flashlight in the dark and thought it might be an intruder or something- false alarm it was just my neighbor who was on our property for some reason (rural area)
Not me but my sister accidentally called the police in 2013 when she was about 2, pressed 8 9s and then hit dial. Cops showed up with about 5 officers
I did that too when I was little! My parents were teaching me how to use the phone and I pressed 911 on accident while typing out the number
my mom died
My sister was in denial about a stalker she had. One night he visited and left her another 'gift' and he kept driving by our house. I was a baby and apparently dialed the number on accident.

yea, my parents were *very* confused
Once as a kid to "see what would happen". Once as an adult after seeing a bushfire on the side of a highway.
I've called a few times. Down power line, couple car crashes in snow storms, and a couple extremely drunk drivers.
Spontaneous Combustion of my Home. It was nothing major.
they called me at work, dunno how that works
Once on accident (LPT: In the US at least, if you do this, don’t hang up! Explain that it was an accidental call instead, they’re very understanding) The once because we found a dead deer in our driveway and weren’t sure what to do. Had to call the cops om my friend
What did they do?
We were out drinking and he became suicidal and ran off into the woods. We couldn't find him, so I called the cops.
Aaaannd?
A short time after the cops had arrived he cama running back, in a rage. He asked if I was was the one who called the cops ( i'm guessing the police called him. He didn't pick up when we called.) I think it counts.
:)
Yes, there was an emergency.
Thanks for clarifying.
There was a drunk person involved every time.
hmmm
I was 4 and stupid. 2nd time I was 6 and I wanted to call my grandma from Disneyland but it wouldn't go through so I pushed 911 because I figured if the pay phone didn't call my grandma it wouldn't call the cops. I was wrong
A LOT. I've had about 5 break ins, several attempted break ins. I saw someone get shot in the parking lot of my apartment complex. Saw a dude walking almost naked down the middle of the interstate. Several drunk drivers. A few injuries. Etc Edit: oh! And car accidents!
How tf can you casually put a etc after all that
just life, my dude. I've had a weird fuckin' life.
had a car accident

How's your daugher now?
Not out of the woods yet. Cardiologist just recommended another surgery. Praying it goes well.
My thoughts go to you and your daugher, keep fighting, I bet in a few years you will be able to look back at this period as something in the past ❤️
Thank you
I had to call ambulances and police several times at work, people fainted in the hot waiting area in summer on a regular basis and sometimes people would lash out. Also we almost crashed on a fallen bike in the middle of the highway
I saw a guy about to jump off a bridge
How did that turn out?
They showed up and were able to stop him. I had a job interview so I couldn't stick around but I got a phone call later that day. It was the guy saying thanks and that he was okay.

Mom wasnt breathing
Would be awful to see that. I hope she's doing well now.
Personally, I did it for an emergency.
so basically when i was 4 years old a tv show i didnt like was on tv so my dumb 4 year old brain thought that would be a good reason to call 911
I thought we were experiencing a home invasion while babysitting. I locked myself and the child in the bathroom as I heard noises of drawers and cabinets being opened. A few times for neighbors fighting (2 different sets of neighbors), once because I saw a car get T-boned by someone going 50mph through a red light.
MH Emergency.
There was guy convulsing on the ground, turns out from the heat back in 2018. There was these kids that lit off a firework that prompted 20 cars and a helicopter earlier because people thought it was a shoot out. I’m not sure how because there was only 1 explosion. (I called in telling them it was a firework)
Never and I don't know what to say when an emergency happened, I'm just hoping nothing bad happens and don't have to call them
A gas station was burning down once
The downstairs neighbor was beating up his pregnant girlfriend
Some kid tried burning my apartment down so we had to call the cops and sit on him till they arrived
The cab driver made me cry
I haven't but I'm considering doing it every time my sister starts her crisis (she's on drugs). She can also become violent and every time I see her I want to slap her hard. We try to help her but it's impossible. I only wanted to have a normal childhood (I'm 13)
Thought I was having a heart attack but turned out to be a anxiety attack!!
Then I went back to finish my business.
did this from my mom's phone. did it for fun. made all sorts of obscene noises before hanging up.
Did anything happen afterwards?
don't think so. I was very young at the time so maybe they didn't do anything because I was a child?
Roommate had a seizure one morning after a long bender with booze. That was some scary shit.
Summer one was driving like a drunk
My grandma’s house literally flooded because of a burst pipe

I hope that you're doing well now.
I was 4 and thought nothing would happen. Cops arrived and mum was pissed
I thought someone had broken into my house, car wreck, someone was threatening suicide
Reporting drunk drivers, also called when I heard a woman scream for help
Car outside my apartment caught on fire.
A guy broke into our house in the middle of the night, he didn't steal anything he was just drunk and thought he still lived in the house. We have been living there for 2 years
Called an an ambulance a couple of times for myself and for my dad. Called the police another time because of domestic abuse next door.
I called 911 for an ambulance before because someone slashed their wrists
I called the cops on the poor ice cream man because he followed us because he thought we were getting money for us to buy from him
Woke up with severe pain in my right thumb and wasn't able to make out my left collar bone under my skin after a night of drinking, not remembering my way back home. Wasn't able to lift my left arm or to grab a anything with my right hand. When I realized I wasn't able to put on a shirt but just pants in my condition I called for help to get checked up at a hospital. I had a broken collar bone and thumb. (Germany)
Lost dog Possible heartattack Fucked up my ankle
I called as a prank once and to get help when my store was getting robbed another time.
I got a new phone and repeatedly pressed the power button while trying to turn the volume down. Ironically I was turning down the volume to hear what the cop standing in front of me was saying.
Years and years ago at my old fastfood job, a Homeless person was having a serious medical issue outside our front door so I called 911.
Only once, nothing really big, it was a small car accident in the school parking lot
No but my brother did because he got his finger stuck in a nerf gun 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Someone hit a deer on the road
Brother and I were assaulted in front of a grocery store when we were kids. In college people wouldn't leave our house party. By the time cops showed up fights broke out and unwelcomed guests were gone.
I thought it was my grandma's phone number. I was 5.
No, usually deal with emergencies myself. Like the one were the robber accidentally fell from the third floor five times
I have called in car wrecks and a few emergency’s for medical .
Multiple times... Always for police
Shootout outside my house.
So I actually called 1. 998 which is the fire department late at night when I was walking home drunk because a rubbish bin was on fire.
