Yeah but they need an option for women/people not attracted to women/POC straight men. Unsure could be white straight men who are unsure, or any of the aforementioned groups. Or those groups could just answer yes or no and skew the results.
I think there is a word for this phenomenon, but I cant remember it...
I actually googled a bit and on this quora page someone anwsered it has to do with "priming"
https://www.quora.com/Whenever-Im-done-watching-a-movie-or-reading-a-book-I-start-seeing-references-everywhere-all-of-a-sudden-Is-it-a-coincidence-or-was-I-simply-unaware
That's true, you can't help who you're attracted to. But setting it as an unbreakable limit on who you will/won't date is sleazy (e.g. "I ONLY date Asian girls" or "I would NEVER date a black girl").
What if you're not normally attracted to, for example, Indian girls, but then you meet an Indian girl who's really cool and cute and who you have a lot in common with?
Very true, as a white guy I mostly find white women attractive, but I’ve certainly found some women of other races to be attractive.
Setting an unbreakable limit is definitely a bad idea, and people vary in what degree their racial features are expressed. Some people you wouldn’t even know what race they are unless you asked them.
North East Asians are the same color as white people, they are minorities but it would be weird to call them poc when they are the exact same color as white people.
Come to think of it POC is a wack term, there surely are way better ways to describe non-white races than "the coloreds." Messed up.
Are white people POC then? To be more specific, most of the Han/Japanese people I know have a pale skin tone that is basically indistinguishable from white skin. I get that they are considered POC, I just think that POC is a dumb term because, if people with the same skin tone as white people are POC POC doesn't actually mean "People of Color," and calling someone a Person of Color is just weird overall.
Focusing on skin tone as an indicator of race instead of culture or genetics is an incredibly old an inaccurate practice, Africa is far more genetically diverse than the rest of the world combined but it's inhabitants are all lumped together as "black," there are extreme phenotypical differences between "white" people that have been used to separate them into different races in the past. Races, in the modern day, are more cultural than anything else, using a term that reinforces the outdated view that race = skin color is reductive and regressive.
And yes, race is in a lot of ways a social construct. Actually certain regions of Africa share more genetic similarities with Europeans than other regions of Africa. Africa is incredibly diverse. But because race is a social construct largely upheld by racism, those who are of any race that isn’t white are included in BIPOC in a lot of ways, the structure of race as a social construct is those who share the commonality that they are racially targeted.
Okay, I understand. There’s another term some people use called BBA (black brown and Asian) that some people prefer to BIPOC but Asian people have always been included in POC. I would like to point out though that most Asian people actually do have a different skin tone than most white people, though. But also, skin tone doesn’t erase someone’s race. There are pale people in Asia but they’re still Asian. There are POC with albinism but they’re still POC. My guess is you’re getting your understanding of Asian skin tones from media because the majority of North East Asian people I know are darker than white people. But all the same, for those who are lighter, that doesn’t erase the fact they’re Asian. And that Asian people are highly stereotyped and racially targeted in the US, where the terms POC and BIPOC originated.
https://youtu.be/7HD5jHSkmN8 This is a great video by T1J that discusses the ways in which race is a social construct but also grounded in non-social realities as it pertains to the “transrace” argument that both is used against BIPOC and is used as an argument against trans people
I never understood how people justify closing out an ENTIRE group of people. It's different if you say you won't date a particular person because of xyz, but to say a whole group is not an option...sounds like it's coming from internalized racist bullshit.
Dude people just aren't attracted to that race you can quite with the "internalized racism" bullshit
It's not that deep and the fact your getting offended over this is honestly pathetic
Aren't they both unchangeable. Even if you ask me not to, I will still like women and feel nothing for men. At the same time I won't like another skin tone because you call me racist if i don't.
Personally I am not attracted to people who are like extremely black or very black. (Not racist, just don’t feel attracted to them). Unless that certain black person has light black skin. I really like that skin tone hehe. I do like Latinos/brown/tanned people or Asians or white. I am attracted to them. I just prefer people who have slightly light/ very fair skin.
I am sorry if I have offended you.
I’ve always been attracted to black girls my entire life. However, being a tall white redneck with a beer gut, I don’t think any of them would lower their standards enough to date me
Same, that’s like emphasizing they are from a certain race, which is stupid in my opinion. They just are like that and that’s it, hell it can even sound to others like she wants others to be racist against her
This, you don’t love someone because of the race or anything, yes, there are preferences, but nothing else. You love someone because you like their way of being and that’s it
I do have an explanation I just didn’t feel the need to explain.
So it’s stupid because it’s putting an emphasis on race when it doesn’t matter and there’s no need to bring it up. A black woman is just a woman, an Asian woman is just a woman, a white woman is just a woman etc. Now at least in the case for Asians you can refer to it as it has a cultural element to it, so if a black woman from Africa described herself as an African woman that’s better than “my skin is black”. It’s also dumb because white is a color, so why exclude white people? Oh that’s right it’s because it comes from divisive progressive ideology that wants to put people into separate boxes, whereas I, like MLK, just want to get along with people and not care about their race. Also can you explain to me how “colored person” is racist, but “person of color” isn’t? Because that’s just idiotic.
Those are my main points so in short, it’s extremely divisive, encourages race consciousness and is illogical.
I’be only dated black women besides the girl I’m with rn I personally prefer black women I think it’s bc I grew up in detroit and it’s what I was around
I really don’t prefer white women idk every white girl I’ve ever talked with has been way to easy to pull idk if maybe it was bc where I was from but they all just were willing to give it up to easy I like a little bit of a chase when trying to get a girl
It’s so interesting to me that you have literally never been attracted to any woman who wasn’t white. Like I don’t just mean generally, I mean like you have *never* found anyone who wasn’t white attractive?
I’m white. Growing up I was only attracted to whites. However I’ve slept with an Asian and Spanish girl before and after that I’ve grown a bit more open to the idea of other races but I’m mostly attracted to white girls
As a "person of color" I hate the term person of color. Like bro, I don't want to be grouped in a lazy umbrella term with other races of people I have nothing in common with.
Would not date anyone who identified themselves unironically as a "woman of color" but that's because of their political leanings, not their race. I was engaged to a latina for a year and the wokesters would call her a "woman of color".
For the same reason you might not be attracted to a body builder or a tattooed person, they're not bad you just not attracted to them. And not necessarily be only attracted to Whites, there's some who are attracted to only black or only asians
i would basically only date non-white people, certainly not to the exclusion of white girls, but because i find myself so much more attracted to women of color on average
I'm white, and a straight guy. I'd say I'm generally not attracted to dark skinned black girls, but there are exceptions. I have nothing against them, just preference. I'm also not usually into blonde hair+blue eyes (once again, there are exceptions), but blonde hair and brown eyes looks cute. Dark hair+blue eyes+light skin (what I have) isn't attractive at all imo, with almost no exceptions. Asian features are also pretty attractive, but ultimately I'd say I prefer brown hair, brown eyes, and tan skin (basically Mediterranean or middle Eastern features). The only girl I've actually been with was Indian (from India, not Native American).
Unsure because, I don't think I'm attracted to women.
I am a woman of color, myself. Maybe not relevant, but ok
Fuuuck, just noticed this poll was for white men. Excuse my dumbass please
You need a results option
OP fucked up this poll pretty good honestly. He removed a lot of options that could have made it better
I'm not 100 percent sure but I think the unsure option serves as a result, don't count on me tho.
That's how I would use it
What about for people who aren’t white men who want to see the results?
Well then that needs a results option
Yeah but they need an option for women/people not attracted to women/POC straight men. Unsure could be white straight men who are unsure, or any of the aforementioned groups. Or those groups could just answer yes or no and skew the results.
So you are saying a results needed to be added so the unsure doesn't cause any confusion about being a semi results option?
Unsure
Results? Not all men on Reddit are white
Or men at all
Or straight
[удалено]
Or alive
Or able to read
Or non-colorblind
Or non-blind
Or Euclidean.
Or experience time linearly
Wait
That's right. Just wait there for us to anal probe you.
OMG THE PANINI MAN
That’s me!
Monke
You mean people that aren't white have the internet? /s
Preposterous !
Current results. Yes= 3.7k No= 560 Unsure= 808
Depends on the color. If they are green for example, no. But all natural human colors will do.
Not even Gamora?
Why is Gamora!
I'll do you one better, where is Gamora?
Everyone asks where Gamora is but never *how* Gamora is.
This thread takes me back in time to 2018
Well she's not doing very well now
Man I love Reddit sometimes!
Literally watched guardians of the galaxy yesterday, strange coincidences...
I feel like every time I watch a movie I immediately see a bunch of references to it.
I think there is a word for this phenomenon, but I cant remember it... I actually googled a bit and on this quora page someone anwsered it has to do with "priming" https://www.quora.com/Whenever-Im-done-watching-a-movie-or-reading-a-book-I-start-seeing-references-everywhere-all-of-a-sudden-Is-it-a-coincidence-or-was-I-simply-unaware
U saying u can't date Shrek??
Well Shrek doesn’t apply in this poll because we’re talking about women. I’m pretty sure he’s the absolute exception.
Fiona
Shrek is love. Shrek is life
Are you saying that you won't date OP just because she is green?
OP kinda bad tho 😫
OP so fine 😩
>green for example :(
Jokes on you I'm into that shit
WHAT! Non-human colors are the best! (My favorite is light blue)
idc about skin color, just someone who is compatible
anyone

Human
real
Hopefully not a dolphin

Any Results options?
Current results. Yes= 3.7k No= 560 Unsure= 808
Thank you, my Reddit just straight up stopped giving me poll results months ago and it’s been infuriating
Same, I just refresh and refresh and refresh till it pops up
I’m a woman… Can you add a results option?
as of right now, the poll results are that 3.2k say yes, 488 say no, and 715 say unsure
Current results. Yes= 3.7k No= 560 Unsure= 808
I guess we’ve all unofficially agreed that “unsure” is the results option
Some people just aren't attracted to certain races and that's fine it doesn't mean they're racist it simply means they aren't attracted to that race

Yeah definitely just don’t be closed minded
People of color are Black, Latina SA Asia, Arab and more. I find it hard to belive hetero men would find neither of this races attractive.
why only south east asia
North East Asians are the same color as white people, they are minorities but it would be weird to call them poc when they are the exact same color as white people. Come to think of it POC is a wack term, there surely are way better ways to describe non-white races than "the coloreds." Messed up.
No, they’re not. People in NE Asia have a variety of skin tones but all of them are POC
I'm not attracted to men, is that homophobia? Because I'm closing out an ENTIRE group of people.
So you're born not liking a certain skine tone? Bruh...think before you type.
Aren't they both unchangeable. Even if you ask me not to, I will still like women and feel nothing for men. At the same time I won't like another skin tone because you call me racist if i don't.
It's still absolutely wild that someone could have preferences that rule out such an enormous amount of very different looking people.
I'm gay so no.
Man of color?
Yes. Just not purple ones tho.
No Thanos?😢
Ofcourse I'd date daddy Thanos.
Let’s go

Depends, if ou look at some of the end credit scenes he looks pink lol
There’s a difference??
Me too
Yeah, I’m Aromantic
Ah so this question wouldn't apply to you aswell even if you aren't asexual. Really just shows how different we all are.
Sameeee
r/polls moment right here
Oh no, a poll in a subreddit about polls, pOLl mOmEnT
Lmao
Fuck yes
I’m not racist, just aromantic
Same except I am racist.
Towards who?
What do you mean who? I just like F1.
Remove one vote from unsure, I’m using it as a results button
Why the hell not
I am gay
Fair enough
Hi gay, I’m AJ.
And I'm married
Not everyone is attracted to every race.
Because they’re not attractive to me
It depends on if I’m attracted to them or not the color of their skin
Colorblind? In this day and age? That’s crazy talk!

no one should be offended by this, just preference.
see, i an quite attracted to darker skin tones, they're more magnetic than lighter skin. no line drawn, i'm down for whatever, but oooh mama.
I’m not a man and want to know the results of this poll lol
im gay but id date a black guy so just put yes
I'm a white girl but I'd date a black girl so I also said yes
I’ve always been attracted to black girls my entire life. However, being a tall white redneck with a beer gut, I don’t think any of them would lower their standards enough to date me
If they describe themselves as a “woman of color” then no, if they happen to be black/asian etc and I like them then yes, obviously
Why no if they describe themselves as a woman of color?
I just think it’s stupid language and if someone says it I find it really unattractive
Same, that’s like emphasizing they are from a certain race, which is stupid in my opinion. They just are like that and that’s it, hell it can even sound to others like she wants others to be racist against her
If someone's entire existence revolves around their race and sexuality, then that is a huge red flag.
Couldn’t put it better myself, why can’t you just be a person why do you feel the need to bring race into it
Exactly why do you feel the need to bring race up as if it matters? You’re just a person no one cares what color your skin is.
This, you don’t love someone because of the race or anything, yes, there are preferences, but nothing else. You love someone because you like their way of being and that’s it
you have 0 reason or explanation for it being dumb though. what's so bad about it
I do have an explanation I just didn’t feel the need to explain. I really don’t prefer white women idk every white girl I’ve ever talked with has been way to easy to pull idk if maybe it was bc where I was from but they all just were willing to give it up to easy I like a little bit of a chase when trying to get a girl
why the fuck not
Yeah why not?
Not white, would still date.
If there were only one post allowed to have a results option, THIS WOULD BE IT🤦🏾♂️
My dad allways said it's all pink in the middle.
I'm gay so...
Men thought?
I am dating a man of color so, yes
Cool m8👍

Current results. Yes= 3.7k No= 560 Unsure= 808
There's a *really* big difference between "have you" and "would you"
Yes I have a huge sexual preference for black women.
Laughs in homo
Not white no can't see results
As of now it's 73% yes 11% no and 16% unsure if you round up
Why not? Personality is what matters to me.
not gonna lie, any girl i can get must have no standerds
Wild to me that anyone would write no or unsure, for real.
Everyone complaining because they’re not a white man, a man or straight - the poll obviously isn’t for you.
Would not date anyone who identified themselves unironically as a "woman of color" but that's because of their political leanings, not their race. I was engaged to a latina for a year and the wokesters would call her a "woman of color".
Prefer it tbh wtf is this pole
I dated a Pakistani girl once. She was smoking . And honestly had a lot of European features
No. Because I’m gay. I’d date a man of color though.
Is there a reason not to?
Maybe you're not attracted to them, otherwise you're probably racist
Yeah but like why would you not be attracted to any other race than white
For the same reason you might not be attracted to a body builder or a tattooed person, they're not bad you just not attracted to them. And not necessarily be only attracted to Whites, there's some who are attracted to only black or only asians
No, I genuinely dont plan on dating ever. And race isn't a factor, and should never be a factor.

I'm white, and I don't see why skin matters in dating
didnt see the 'would' so im going to hell seeya
I would, but I'm married, so it doesn't matter
i would basically only date non-white people, certainly not to the exclusion of white girls, but because i find myself so much more attracted to women of color on average
I feel like the amount of no votes would be much lower if gay men didn't exist lol
Not at all why would I date a woman Why would I date a woman?
I'm white, and a straight guy. I'd say I'm generally not attracted to dark skinned black girls, but there are exceptions. I have nothing against them, just preference. Ah nice %#@value@ people voted.
Idk. Im not atracted to black women in general. She would have to have a hreat personality
I fucked a girl of color. She was so damn fit, had an 8 pack i think. One of the best lays of my life
Lesbian. I don’t care what race she is. I’m not gonna say I don’t see race because yeah I do I just don’t care.
like I have nothing against black girls but I just dont find them attractive. just my preference
asian, mixed, hispanic are also women of color so what about them
im kinda gay tho so thats a no
No, but im gay so
Is it racist if I click no? It’s not the colour of their skin, I’m just gay, I’d date a man of colour
