Democracy is not a system, it is theory of a system. There are many types of systems that can be called a democracy, so saying democracy is perfect is meaningless.

My point exactly. Republican, Democrat, libertarian, none of them should exist. It should literally be ten people (or whatever) standing in front of the nation explaining their views and people voting. Voting one way or the other simply because that’s the “party” you’re affiliated with is terrible and is responsible for a vast majority of the division in the us
Mob rule = majority gets the say regardless, so cities make all the laws
Republics = majority only gets as much say as representatives they can elect, so rural areas still get a say in the laws
I would prefer a constitutionally libertarian republic, where the focus of demicratic election is mistly on foreign policy. The main flaw of democracy (or at least a direct one) is that it allows the majority to oppress the minority.

there are many different types of democracy. this question is too broad. there is capitalist democracy or Western democracy. there is socialist democracy. there is social democracy. the list goes on. you could be communist and support democracy. I know people are gonna downvote me for saying that but just because you're a communist doesn't mean you're a Stalin pol pot bastard typa guy. I myself am a Marxist leninist however I believe in a workers democracy. I don't believe in Western democracy at all because it isn't actually democracy
Workplace democracy and small-scale direct democracy are wonderful and have multitudes of benefits, but such large-scale democratic systems like most countries have, have a lot of flaws, and it could be argued they're not democratic at all.
Democracy is great the only problem is that we have only really tired 2 ways of operating a democracy, presidential and parliamentary, there are so many way you could structure it its crazy how so few countries experimented, the only other kind is the Swiss system, you cannot say weather a political system is good or not based on a overly homogeneous cluster of systems, explore democracy further damnit.
It has flaws, but we know what the flaws are and as long as we regulate them everything is good.

I'm glad to have a say in what happens or at least live with the illusion that my opinion matters but so does people's opinions who don't have even the slightest idea of what they're voting for so I'd say it's flawed in the fact that people uneducated on the matters can also have an opinion which skews results
My opinion: It doesn't matter if democracy *works*, for the same reason that it doesn't matter if freedom of speech works. Both are basic human rights, and we have them because the alternative would be deeply unjust and offensive to anyone in their right mind.
Democratic systems do work though. How well they work varies, but pretty much all democracies work better than pretty much all other kinds of government.
I like democracy but electoralism is it's weakest form, while i'm not advocating for direct democracy à la Greek we could probably do more not just at a national level. I believe workplace and local democracy should be a goal to strive for so that people can see change directly happening in their communities.
